M.Singer, if you feel that way, take a vow of celibacy and become a priest or monk. I do happen to remember the Bible telling us to basically populate the world. "Be fruitful and multiply" if I remember correctly. That's a bit off subject from teen pregnancy though.

    • Posted By: M.Singer @ 07/17/2008 11:07:37 AM

I don't think it's off subject at all. She Is missing something in her life and is looking in the wrong direction for it. That led to her teen preg.

God says: "I agree....she was looking for something in her life. And apparently found it...happily."

If this we're anyone but, a cute, rich, white "all-american" teen idol, who just happened to get pregnant (and on the coat-tails of Juno) she'd be cursed or forgotten. With mom and grandma fronting the bill while she tried desperately to finish school.

I live in Oakland where teen pregnancy is rampant. Strollers in school are as common as firearms.
    What's wrong with that picture???

I also agree with 'queezers' statement that she's cashing in on her kid. That's in such poor taste.
And how often than not does a teen father actually stick around in the end?
That's right... has everyone completely forgotten about the dad?
Let's just see how long he lasts!

This story is a crock of sh*t... so, let's just all sit back and watch the teen pregnancy rates sky-rocket while our tween daughters shake their asses in low-rise jeans begging for sperm donations for eager boys.

Nice job OK!. You really blew it this time.

I don't think article has done anything to express to the other teens that having a baby is not easy.
Teens that read the magazine may read but only really see the pictures that are posted. Unless you show a visual of what parenting is really like it is going to go in one ear and out the other.
Most teans look at the fantasy side of parenting not what it is really like.
Example: Baby Borrowers, there was not one teen who didn't say that parenting is alot different than what they thought it would be like.

I cannot believe they put her on the cover! Its totally irresponsible in my opinion. Why? Because not all teens have the money to properly take care of a baby. And this definitely glamorizes teenage pregnacy being alright -- and its not, babies cost lots of money which your average teen doesn't have. How sad, totally irrespsonsible on their behalf. We're trying to grow our teens up to be more responsible. Its just disgusting to see them do this.

yes she is glamorizen teen preganancy she should be a role model

  • Posted By: momof2nc @ 07/17/2008 11:04:30 AM

At least she is taking responsibility for her child and her actions which is more than I can say for her ADULT sister! Apparently neither of the Spears sisters have ever heard of birth control!

    • Posted By: calipzo22 @ 07/17/2008 11:08:44 AM

Taking responsibilty? She just had the kid...hopefully she wont crash and burn but I'm sure this gleeful Happy Mommy crap will fade away real fast.

  • Posted By: benellylove @ 07/17/2008 11:08:33 AM

Yes she glamorize teen preganancy just because the fact that she was a teen samples of a good girl and people is making that is a good thing a normal thing,NOT it is children having children sheis lucky she has the famous sister who is reich and can help her and her parents and this irresponsible boybriend who maybe maybe will stick with her who knows,What happen with BIRTH CONTROL do they don't know it EXISTS???????hellooooooo all this girls are watching her is a idol what they going to think ?well is he is doing it I am going to do it she is a idol sha is my role model I will do whatever she is doing....definitely she is a bad influence in many girls lifes right NOW

  • Posted By: JustAnotherWoman @ 07/17/2008 11:07:33 AM

Yes, these are smart girls: older sister wasn't in the spotlight anymore so she makes her scenes and ends up in a psych ward for publicity. And I don't care how mature or responsible or rich Jamie Lynn is, this IS glamorizing teen pregnancy. She has the money and support to take care of the kid, but teenage girls don't see that. Girls that want to be just like her are going to think that they would be happier with a child too and not see a negative to this because they don't show a negative. 17 girls get pregnant in Mass. and all it gets is negative press (which it should), but one teenage girl has a baby and it's a different story because she has money. And I hate to bring in another star to this comment, but Miley Cyrus has a scandelous photo shoot and was scorned for it. All we're telling teenage girls is "it's not ok to take pictures, but sex is alright". I'm only 20, and I would hate to try and raise a daughter with the "role models" we have for them today.

This discussion shouldn't be about religion, whoever said Mary was 14 when she was pregnant is just a moron...I totally agree with whoever said sex after marriage is right; I knew of 1 person who was a virgin till 19; and we all thought she was just prude. Places like planned parenthood are a lifesaver; and people picket outside which is awful. Not only do they provide birth control they do exams, and at minimal cost. Perhaps people should plant a tree or adopt a shelter dog instead of picketing kids who try and do the right thing by going to these places. Be real, how many kids wants to talk about sex with their parents? Make it comfortable and make sure they know how you feel about teen sex/pregnancy; Jamie Lynn has MONEY and will be able to afford this baby; she will have the best medical care and paid assistants to care for her baby when she can't. In the real world that isn't the case.

Teenager or not at least she is taking responsibility for her child and her actions which is WAY more than I can say for her ADULT sister.
Apparently the Spears sisters haven't ever heard of birth control! THAT is the BIG issue!

One I think who cares about Jamie? We have teen pregancy all over but because she is rich we have to hear about her over and over. Like she is the first teen to ever get pregnant! Two the damage it is doing is for sure telling all teen girls that it will be great. At the age of 16 or 17 if they are thinking about having a baby. They aren't going to sit and read that story and think "Wow that's really a unique story". No they will look at it in a one dimetional way. "Wow the girl that I watch so much on TV had a baby and she says it's the best thing ever". "That must mean it's the best thing I could ever do......And I've been thinking about wanting a baby" And guess what!? No one is telling these girls that Jamie is not going to come and help raise these children. I realize that there are women of all ages that should not be parents. However targeting teens ia just fueling this fire. Thoughts that a 16 year old has are so different then someone say at 25. Ages 15-20 have so many changing points. So I think it is unnessesary to focus so much time on Jamie's pregancy. That is all.

About the cover...Geee great way to encourage a bunch of 16yr olds that its OK to get prego. any ways its the greates feeling in the world!

  • Posted By: deenav1 @ 07/17/2008 10:59:19 AM

I think OK! magazine is delusional if they think they have not glorified teen pregnancy but all the blame cannot be held on them. Media in general has glamorized teen pregnancy and has made it acceptable in our society. Pictures and stories of moms-to-be and the cute little photos of the babies are splashed everywhere but no one really mentions the dirty details of taking care of a baby. I was 23 when I had my first child and I was stressed out many times but I think I was at a better age to cope than most teens who have little real life experiences. People like Jamie Lynn are the exception, not the rule. She is of course a celebrity with a lot of money who can afford to hire a nanny for her child and therfore, may not have to deal with the full responsibilities. However, I wish her luck and much happiness.

I go to an extremely messed up school! one of the girls in my school got kicked out for Doing drugs and inapropriat actions that summer (SHE WAS 12 YEARS OLD) she got pregnent! Im only 13 and i don't beleive in sex until marrige! sadly she had the baby at 13 Luckily the baby was born healthy in may 2008! These girls are growing up to FAST! I know of a 10 year old who wears belly button shirts and shorts that are so short that you can see her underware coming through the bottom! And now they curse to seem older they dont they seem 2! At jammie's age and mine NO ONE should have a baby! dont get me wrong i love jammie just not all of her choices! She did make good choice! she told her parents, she told the father, and she didn't do any drugs or drank any alchohol! So instead of pointing out all of the bad things she did she also did lots of very smart safe dicisions
    Thanks

I had my son when I was 16. I graduated the top of my class in high school and college. I received my Master's Degree 2 years ago and now make more money than most people my age. I love my son and would have changed the path I took for a moment. We are very close. It taught him that life may not deal you the best hand, but it's what you do with it that defines you. There are too many stories of horrible teen parents its about time they put some good stories out there.

Sex is used to fill the God given desire to worship something. He gave us free will and we always choose to worship something else. We most often worship ourselves(or live to please ourselves). This is a consequence of that lifestyle to turn us to Jesus. So he can show us forgiveness and strengthen us to choose a better way of life.
