She is a horrible role model for our young children. Yes she made a mistake. No we should not crucify her for it, mistakes happen to good people. But when my 6 year old comes home from school and tells me that her friend who watches Zoey 101 told her that Zoey is having a baby and asks "Mommy can teenagers have babies like grown up mommies," I'm disturbed that I have to have this talk with my kindergartner. To make matters worse, there she is smiling on the cover of a magazine with her baby. What has happened to our society??

Teenagers will do what they will do at the end of the day,all we can do is teach them the differences between right and wrong and they'll decide for themselves,it's how they'll learn.
I think jamie lynn should be proud to be seen smiling holding her baby its what mothers should do no matter what.it's her baby and she's every right to be happy and proud. she chose to have a baby at her age but it doesn't mean all teenagers will follow.
it's up to those who decides it's what they want and i wish them luck. im a mother to 2 children both daughters one who is a teenager herself and they understand about teenage pregnancies but doesn.t mean they'll come home pregnant just because their favourite stars are.

It's reality. It's not OK for teen pregnancy, but it happens everyday. Jamie Lynn can't sit around and cry & complain about it she put herself in this position and now she is taking responsibilty and handling it as a teen parent. If she's happy about being a parent so what! Maybe she will turn out to be a good parent and the child won't be punished for her caeless actions. i don't think the article glorifies teen pregnancy at all just a glimpse of reality that the world can't handle.

Yes, she made a mistake. No we shouldn't judge too harshly, mistakes happen to good people. Does she need to be paraded around in the media, NO!! Very young girls see this and think it's okay for teeangers to have babies. My 6 year old came home from school one day and said her friend told her Zoey from the Disney Channel was pregnant. She asked "Mommy can teenagers have babies too just like grown ups??" Why should I have to have this conversation with my 6 year old who still plays with dolls and has imaginery friends?? This is a conversation to be had with a much older child. Thanks to the media my kindergartner gets a very early education. We should be really proud as a socity.

I'm very disapointed in OK for making this whole thing OK! Why is a 16 year old having sex in the 1st place, you only have to look as far as her parents. When Mom and Dad aren't willing to set down and talk about sex with their young children this is what happens. When Mom and Dad don't know where their 16 year old daughter is or what she's doing they are failing as a parent. This is strike two against the Spear's as parents. They have a physco with 2 kids she can't even see and now another grandkid with no father. My daughter is 20 and just lost her boyfriend of 8 months because she won't sleep with him. She has been taught that if your not sure this is the person you want to spend some serious time with then "JUST SAY NO". If you think he's the one USE A CONDOM!!

    michellm,

she HAD a job, but her show was cancelled! she's rich, that's true. but, owning up to anything?...she's not. she's gonna have a baby because she can and she's getting married to the guy who got her preggers in a rather "shotgun" fashion, wouldn't you say? this story is being followed by young girls who are gonna think that they can do the same thing. OK! is making it seem like it's nothing but the joys of motherhood for this little girl, but REGULAR little girls don't always choose to notice the fact that rich people have an easier time doing thing like this that cost a great deal of money. then, they'll make the same mistake and be in a HORRIBLE situation. unless you've already made your millions by age 15 or so, if you have a baby...it's game over. life is gonna be harder for you than ANYBODY else for as long as you have a child that you have to live with and take care of. even if you have a strong family behind you, unless they're rich, you're in for a lot of work.

oh, and say goodbye to your teens and your twenties...you'll be missing them when you're 40 and realize that you missed the prime years of your life.

I work with single mothers every day as a community college administrator. It is heartbreaking to listen to the stories and watch young women struggle to survive. It is more heartbreaking to see their children who are the true victims. It is NOT glamourous to be a single mom, especially a teenage single mom. It is all tragic, including the Spears sisters and the decisions they are making. Our children are suffering and so is our society.

"OK"... HOW DISSAPOINTED I AM THAT YOU WOULD PAY A MILLION DOLLARS TO PUT THE CELEBRATION OF TEENAGE PRENANCY ON EVERY NEWSTAND OUT THERE! I MYSELF WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER MAGAZINE YOU PRINT !!! VERY DISSAPPOINTED IN YOU."OK"...............................

  • Posted By: pitypatty @ 07/15/2008 11:33:36 AM

Jamie Lynn is no role model, most parents would like to see their daughters finish high school before having children. So why are we glorifying this tragedy? Eventhough she has wealth and riches this is still wrong. Teen parenting is the rise, and by you putting her on the front page of OK Mag. you are saying that teen pregnancy is cool, and we certainly disagree.

ok for one If we raise our kids with standers and talk to them about sex . I mean hello how old were you when you had sex? Yes at that age it is wrong but we know it dose happen and if she wasn't a star it wounldn't out in the media and we wouldn't be talking about it.

I DON'T THINK HAVING BABIES IS A CRIME IT CAN BE PREVENTABLE BUT IT HAPPENS. WE NEED TO TALK TO OUR KIDS ABOUT SEX.

BS! The rest of Today's Teen parents are not living the Glamourous Life as this Girl....they make Teen Pregnancy seem like a piece of cake, when in reality they're living in an economy that isn't promising at the moment and can/will cause huge consequences to their future and the American Tax dollars

I am very happy for Jamie Lynn. I think that it is a wonderful thing that she is financially able to take care of her new family and I am really tired of people blaming her parents. Her parents I have to believe have done the absolute best job they could do raising her and she is growing up and during that process should be allowed to make some of her own decisions and with that being said. I think that just because she got pregnant at a young age she will experience some of the hardships of young parenting but the financial aspect will certainly be in her favor. I had my oldest daughter when I was young and I struggled very hard and still do but I wouldn't change it for the world. God will not give us more than we can handle and from what we are able to see she and her boyfriend are doing just fine. They will make mistakes just like all of us did and will do again we are all just human. For God Sakes give the girl credit for being human. Celebrity status doesn't exempt her from the facts of life.

No, I cannot be happy for a teenage mother. I'm thankful that she didn't abort the baby, but happy that a child will be raising a future contributing [hopefully] member of society? Why the hell would any sane person be "happy" for her? So she's bankrolled a few bucks. Explain to me how this in any way replaces the wisdom one earns through the process of living, and I'll rethink my stand. And now she has a "fiancee." So what? That just makes two babies raising a baby. No amount of well-wishing and stupid fan rhetoric are going to change what's lacking here, and what's obviously lacking in that family to have raised two girls who seemingly had it all but turned to the shallowness of premarital sex to fulfill what was missing in their lives. It's tough enough to raise a kid in a stable home environment with two mature, committed adults. What the hell makes anyone think that two kids can do it?

    • Posted By: michellm @ 07/15/2008 11:31:49 AM

Kids raise kids every day in this society. Some turn out great and some fall flat on their face. Pre marital sex might not be right but it does happen. No one is given a handbook on how to raise kids so there is no right or wrong way.

  • Posted By: KatKitty074 @ 07/15/2008 11:31:46 AM

The only difference between Jamie Lynn and other teens is that Jamie can hire a NANNY to raise her kids, while other poor kids have to "depend" on their moms to raise theirs. Look out all you mothers who thinks its ok to have a baby in their teen years, YOU will be stuck with raising these babies that your daughters had!

I think this article very much glamorizes teen pregnancy! Im 23 years old and about to have a baby and yes im excited and sure it is one of the best things in life, but it sure isnt easy. my husband and i are already ponding the obvious concerns about the future of this child and ours. the interview with jamie lynn is nice but you should have hit some hard questions as well. Like how she really isnt like most young teenage girls who get pregnant she comes from a family of money so of course its easy for her. she'll get incredible help, wont have to worry about bills, food, work, school, as a lot of young girls do!

    not acceptable at all!

  • Posted By: raphels @ 07/15/2008 11:30:30 AM

Shame on OK Magazine. Illegitimate babies born to illprepared teenagers, shound not be glorified. Jamie Lynn will want to be a teenager, the baby will cry, be sick and the nanny will parent the child. There is no concept of reality with anyone that has the last name of "Spears": The Spears parents have contributed to breakdown of the good morals and values, of this generation, with their obsessive needs for continued attention and $$$. Shame on anyone that contributes to this disfunctional machine...

I think that Jamie Lynn is sending mixed singnals to teens. After all she is rich and can take care of her baby. I think that teens should keep their baby, you play you pay. Abort or adopt would be wrong they might regret it later. Goog luck Jamie.
