When my 14 yr old birth mother became pregnant, she didnt have the choice to keep me and my twin sister. THANK GOD! But, for some reason these days, pregnant teens are giving the choice and the parents have to go along with it...and foot the bill. Jamie Lynn may have the cash and a "career" but that child still has children for parents. I predict years of nannies instead of a mother, a divorce if there is a marriage, and an OK cover 18 years from now about Maddies messed up childhood. Good job OK! on making every tween think that mother hood is easy. Just what we need....

Enter Your Comment I was a teen mother and it was a struggle but I did finish school and went to college. Some young girls are victims of family incest or have been abused and look for that acceptence in a man which causes multiple problems..teen pregnancy is the problem of every american adult, we all need to udnerstand that being a teen means you still are gaining the knowledge to make life decesicions. Dropping your kids off at the mall letting them go off to their friends for days ..mostly being unsupervised...and I amdit..parents get busy and sometimes cant be everywhere..welll we cant just let our teens go wherever they want and believe that they are doing what they are telling us we need to check in on them and make sure that they know we care what they are doin where they are at and who they are with.

Let's not all forget that Jamie Lynn Spears has the money to take care of the child unlike most teenagers in society having babies.

    • Posted By: MzGee41 @ 07/15/2008 10:29:25 AM

Money does not make for a good parent. Let's not forget her crazy as a fox sister who's money DID NOT allow her to keep her kids.

As a young mother myself. the magazine is doing anything but setting a good example for teens. Having a baby at a young age is NOT glamorous. I had to work my butt off to finish college! Many young mothers never go to college as a result of pregnancy. Some teens do not even finish high school. It is never okay to exploit teen pregnancy. The magazine needs to get a clue!

Why are we do anything with Jaime Lynn Spears? What is the message we are sending to all of the young women today, that is is alright to flirt with life? Jaime Lynn should be banned from acting until the child could be left alone. By having Jaime Lynn's picture on the cover of any magazine is telling the world to go ahead and get pregnant. Any magazine that show this kind of message should be boycotted. Thank you

    popsacc,

Ever hear of keeping in your pants until the time is right?

    • Posted By: popsacc @ 07/15/2008 10:27:13 AM

Yeah, that's what my Dad told me. That worked well. That's the problem here, not that she had a baby at an early age. Adults are so scared of talking to there kids about sex that they treat it like a joke. What this is about, is when put in the situation, what kind of decision will kids make. They made a mistake already with having sex early, but having a child is not a mistake. I could be like all the other kids i went to school with, coke charges behind bars, STDS from sleeping around, that''s what's happening.

Comment: Being a Mom is the best feeling in the world???? Please I was a teenager when I became a mom, even with family and friends help it was the hardest time in my life. I now have a 30 year old daughter who I love with all my heart, but if I could repeat history, she would not be here.
The only reason its the best feeling is because shes being paid a bundle for the pics and has the money to have someone else do all the work. Her little fairy tale world of a husband, career, and kids is going to blow apart as we adults know its hard to be a parent and have it all. Mark my words, she will loose her man as they will both get tired of playing house. Sue Oregon

WOW!!! what a comment......i hope you daughter doesnt know that. I would have to say the reason you are the person you are today is because of the things you went through with her. Maybe your not in a good place in your life right now and you can say that. I can say at one time being a teenage mom and now almost 30 is that he taught me so much and things could have turned out alot worse. I love my laps in judgement everday!!

Are you kidding me?? She has made "smart choices" since when is being 16 and preganant a smart choice?? Could someone please explain to me how that is a smart choice? B/c where i come from being unmarried and preganant is not a SMART CHOICE! She makes so much money and she could not afford birth control!?!?!?!

How about OK does an article on "real life" teenage moms next? Now that the damage has been done - by putting this teenage mom on the cover, now put out something that will show America the other side. The reality of teen parenting. The pampers, the crying, the single parenting, the struggle, the balance between the life of a parent and a HS student. Instead of complaining, let's find a resolution to the problem.

BIG DEAL..the fact that teen pregnancy is an issue at all in this country is a shame but we all can add that to the long list of issues our country does not address or care about and what about when "Beyonce's" little sister got knocked up nobody made a big deal about that, lay off the "Spears" and go to a public school for a day and you will meet girls just like Jaime and Brittany..WAKE UP PEOPLE.

I'm afraid you're missing the point, Ok magazine IS guilty of making teen pregnancy look appealing. My 13 year old daughter said "Mom would Jamie Lynn be on the cover of Ok magazine if she had gotten HIV instead of a BABY?" This is the real issue, we're living in a time where having unprotected sex can kill you. Young people between the ages of 13-24 are becoming infected with HIV at an alarming rate (every hour 2 youth are infected). The CDC reported that 1 in 4 sexually active teen girls are infected with an STI. Also to answer your question about "Beyonce's "sister, no one made a big deal about Solange getting pregnant because it was not all over the news and on the cover of magazines. It was basically handled as a family matter and remember Solange was 18 and married when her son Daniel was born.

amen cajun wife! i think jamie is handling the situation the best she knows how. and...with the press breathing down her neck! i was a young mother also and it's a very hard road. jamie made a bad decision to have sex like 99% of all the other girls her age. but God loves her as she is. she needs forgiveness just like every other human soul on this planet. i think everyone should tend to their own lives and leave her alone. same goes with britney. we made her a star then we drove her crazy. now we're throwing it in her face with every magazine cover. fame is cruel. we love our stars until they fall then we crush them to dust. JESUS COME QUICKLY!

No matter how rich, how cute, and how much your excepted by your friends...babies change your focus-responsibilities and outlook. If people get a free ride, from the state(for too long),thier families(grandma no charging something for rent?)and don't have to step up and see the reality of having a Kid(they don't stay babies forever) then they will have lots of problems with reality later. It's way harder to have a older child, then a baby. You are their parent, life line, mentor etc etc. And if you don't take that role seriouslly, they will just pick someone else to respect. This is coming from a 27 who was a teen mom, and I hope that girls and boys of all ages, if you do the dance-be ready for whatever "award" you may get......

As a teen father, most of you have your heads shoved up your asses. What should OK do? Show the typical teen with an aborted fetus next to her while she's smiling? Cause that is more the case. Sure she didn't make the right desicions leading up to it. But she made the right desicion to have the baby. It's amazing how you all think your kids are pure. They're not. They have sex, they have abortions behind you backs, they have STDs. THere are worse things than having a child at an early age, like the previous stated routes.

      I agree with you....

I feel that celebs get way too much attention and money from the media. Even non-celebs...those who do horrific things...they do it to get attention through the media. They are famous. It's ridiculus. If the media would have let Brittney Spears alone she probably would have recovered a long time ago. They made her a joke and make tons of money for her pics. Let's fix the world...we have done enough to destroy it.

  • Posted By: MsSmith @ 07/15/2008 10:23:53 AM

The two are no more than rich tramps. They have no talent whatsoever. They have influenced an awful lot of girls who have nothing compared to them. Truly sad comentary on the times!!!!! Again___Just tramps!!!!!

I think it is a tragedy! I am a youth minister and deal with the glamorization of unwed mothers all the time. The emotional vacuum that teen girls feel make having a baby appear to be a quick fix. Our nation has began a cycle of emotional orphans that will and has hurt our children immeasurably.

  • Posted By: FOXY ROXY @ 07/15/2008 10:23:36 AM

I THINK THAT EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO MAKE THEIR OWN DECISIONS IN LIFE AND IN THIS CASE JAMIE MADE THE RIGHT ONE. THE TRUTH IS SHE IS A CHARACTER IN ZOEY 101 BUT THAT SHOW DOES NOT PORTRAY HER REAL LIFE, ZOEY DIDNT GET PREGNANT JAMIE DID. WE SHOULD TEACH OUR CHILDREN TO BE THERE OWN PERSON AND TO BE A LEADER AND NOT A FOLLOWER!

I AM MORE WORRIED ABOUT THE NEW SHOW THE SECRET LIFE OF A TEENAGER NOT JAMIE SPEARS!

  • Posted By: paulwalters2000 @ 07/15/2008 10:23:25 AM

What is the message we are sending to young mothers such as with Jaime Lynn spears? She should be pulled from acting role that are depicting young women until she in needed to play adult roles. Magazines that show Jaime Lynn spears with her baby should be pulled and boycotted. Thank you

  • Posted By: davidr317 @ 07/15/2008 10:23:23 AM

I believe that any one has the right to any opinion they may have about the Jamie Lynn Spears article. I also believe that doing a story on teen pregnancy will help educate teens on the responsibilities of having a child at an early age. However I failed to see that in this article. The article seemed to glorify teen pregnancy which is wrong to do just to move a magezine. My opinion, My right to say what is on my mind. Thank you

I am 13 years old and am very upset at this issue of Ok! magazine. Teen pregnancy is a very important issue and this magazine is showing the brighter side to it. Jamie is saying that it is the best thing that has every happened to her, but some other teen moms say different. Jamie is very lucky to be financially secure and most teen mothers are not. She is also lucky that Casey is there and is marrying her because 50% of the time the men are not there and the mom is all by her self. I think this magazine is making teen pregnancy look like it is a breeze and is "fun". She is now showing with all her fans that she turned out okay and so can they. I think this issue should have been more private and now the teen pregnancy rate might just increase. . . .
