Yes the spread does glamorize. It makes no difference if the girl is a celebrity, teenage pregnancy is not at all glamorous, it is a tragedy.

a tragedy???? ur over exagerating mayb it wudda been a tragedy for u but dam that was a bit much its innnapropiate and makes life more difficult but not a tragedy
If you think pregnancy is a tragedy, you should't have any babies. It is the best things in the world.
Oh my gosh. Teen girls are not idiots. If they have a baby because they see Jamie Lynn on the cover of a magazine with one than they are absolute idiots. I think it's nice to see a story about a young woman who got pregnant and took responsibility. Also, the man took responsibility as well. Refreshing, positive morals. Teen girls will get pregnant with or without famous pregnant teens in magazines. A positive role model on how to make it work, and how to give your baby the best life possible is something they need.
I was a teen mom. I am now a 28 year old college graduate who has been married for 10 years to the father of all three of my children. It wasn't the easy path to take and I would NEVER advise my 10 year old daughter to take it, but if it happens, it is not the end of the world. You can live a perfect, happy, normal life and still be the best person that you can be. The road will just be a bit harder and you may have to work just a bit harder.
UNDERAGE SEX AND PROSTITUTION IS ILLEGAL AND IT IS CALLED STATUTORY RAPE
i swear ur like the 3rd biggest *** on here
How can you say prostitution. Who is prostituting themselves you ass hole. Who are we humans to pass judgement on any one else. Yes she is having sex, and yes she got pregnant. But she believes within her self she can take care of her baby. She is financially stabled right and the father is there by her side. You are a HATER and thats all you will ever mount to because you are so busy all up in jamies life. As you should know no contraceptive is 100% safe. Things happen for a reason. Why should she give her baby up foradoption. What if you were given up for adoption? Would you like it? How would you feel.? jamie is more fortunate than many of us. Age is nothing but a number cause all in the states girls from 12 are having sex, getting pregnant and nobody has anything to comment. Jamie is not glamorizing teenage pregnancy. She is only expressing the wonderful feeling of being a mom just as you were with your first child. Stop being so jugemental. You as parents can control what your children watch. Stop letting them watch Zoey 101 if you have a problem with her. and news flash teenage pregnancy willforever increase it have been increasing before jamie got pregnant and will continue even after. Parents are the ones to blame because if they grow their kids up right, control what they watch, where they go, and yes give them there freedom as a sign of trust you woiuldnt have so many youg girls having sex with guys who they believe love them cause there parents dont show them love. It starts at the home. Control what goes on in the homes and when a child is faced with reality they know how to deal with the situation. 80% OF THE PERSONS who belive jaie is glamorizing teen pregnancy, have teenage daughters who are having sex more than them. I am from the bahamas. Teenage prenancy isover here as well. Its worlwide and one person did not spread it definetely not jamie. Come on people stop been so jugmental and give jamie a break. Let her prove to you that she can and will be a good mother. Congrats jamie and god bless.
i agree and i dont think she is purposely trying to glamorize it and yes parents need to step up but that facts are is that they rnt so wat is publicizd effects the minds of children... Unfortunately my genertaion of kids r dumb ass hell luckly im not one of thm (but we do make mistakes regardless of stupidity) however this is one of the most easily influenced generations wen it comes down to sexual behavior and how we process informations so her exposure of this sensitive subject wasnt a gud idea bcuz of how children r now and their dumbass parents
In the aftermath of the December 2007 disclosure by 16-year-old actress Jamie Lynn Spears, the sister of pop star Britney Spears, that the father of her baby is 18-year-old Casey Aldridge,[21] there is talk of the prosecution of Aldridge for statutory rape, which could be done under current Louisiana state law
I too was wondering why an adult was not being prosecuted for statutory rape. Why was Jaime even allowed to date an 18 year old? Yes, I understand he was under 18 when they started having sex, but still, Mom should have stepped in.
Statutory rape?? Are you joking? Obviously you were hideous in high school and had no boyfriend - is that why you're so bitter?? The only thing that went wrong here was the lack of proper birth control (whether intentional or defective).
mayb u have noticd but boys r like 2 yrs stupider thn us therefore who the hell is she going to date, once u hit 16 - 17 ur options get limitd n boyz n ur legal age range r usually still stupd as *** atleast her mothr new they were dating trust me i kno im 16 goin on 17 i luk like im 14 so i get guyz frm 14-18 n they all act the same (mayb sum r slightly more intelligent but they still rnt ready to stop playing games) so what did u do wen u were 16-17?
Oh wah, 2 years is not a big difference in age. I highly doubt her mother will have the boy persecuted if he's helping with the offspring.
Mighty ASSUMPTIVE of U!
Who cares about my spelling when you can even bother to spell out the word "you."
DO YOu MEAN prosecuted?!?
Congratulations! You are what we call an exception to the rule! Go you! (not really)
She should have used condoms or aborted, that probably would have been even more responsible!
i wanna c u have an abortion since u think its so fukn easy to do like yea lemme get pregnate evry tohr month n just have an abortion its not that easy u *** u've been an *** throughout this whole blog. you just have all the great advice dont u
Ur mother should have used Ur chices!!!
You're mother should have done the same, I can't take you seriously because you refuse to spell out SIMPLE words. Sorry, my mom wasn't pressured into having me and actually wanted me.
You are trying to glamourize what is an epidemic in our society. Most 16 year old girls are not equipped to raise, let alone afford to raise a child alone.
I myself was a teen mom my first was born when i was just 16 i am now 20 and I have 3 kids. I have only missed the partying and all that no good stuff so what is the bad part of having children young if you are responsible and all that.
Were you able to finish high school or go beyond high school. Are you able to work to support your 3 children?
THAT is not what is important!
It is very important! Are you living off of the government and my tax money. I only was able to afford one child and support her with my husband. I'm a teacher and I still couldn't afford more children because I'm too busy paying taxes for other people to have babies. Also, you children are statistics which do not indicate they will get educated or be self reliant. The fact that you don't think this is important is frightening.
What "IS" important; that she (bbgurl) "IS" raising her "3 kids". She "IS" being "responsible" ("and all that"). Why do you care if she's living off your (& my) tax dollars! Personally, I don't give a #*!@$%. ! I don't blame her for the # of children I have. THAT is not what is important, either!! Get real. You're starting to sound like "Sachiko"! Where does it say bbgurl is on welfare?! Maybe she &/or her husband have jobs. THEN: you judge her children to be cursed with failure!! It doesn't say, so don't assume!!! (judge) The fact that you don't THINK, is frightening.
You sad, sad, child you.
Why should we have to support someone's children when they might not have finished even high school? Is she even trying to better herself to benefit her and her children? We don't know, but from her response it seems like no, she isn't. She thus does not deserve my money.
Can you even imagine how hard it would be to support 3 children if you never finished high school and could only get a minimum-wage job? That is why it is important! People should not be so selfish about it.
ppl ned to get their shyt togethr n stop depending on othr sources besides thmselves y wud u continue to have children wen u kant afford thm with ur bak account if welfare wasnt available ppl wud think twice about having more babies to get a raise on that welfare chek
y wud u continue to have more kids at such a yung age??????
I find it frightening and pathetic that the OK's editor tries to spin the above article, "This is just Jami Lynn's story..." blah blah. Come on Mr Shuter, pretend to be 17 for a minute... remember it? Now, do you really think this is responsible journalism? Girls her age are going to see a cute infant and a pretty young mommy and want a new pet too! See how happy it can make a girl? Says so right here, in OK Magazine. What a crock of crap. So much teen pregnancy, so little guidance from parents, and OK is helping glamorize a sad situation.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Well put.
i feel u they just tryna make a buk or 2
The article may have a positive influence on young teen MOTHERS!
how? most teen mothr wud probably just b pissd that they dont have her bank account the rest of thm have to struggle she duznt unless she ges supr stupd w/ her money
I was 19 and my wife was 17 when we had our first child. My wife suddenly decided she was too young to handle a child and we divorced. I was awarded custody of my little girl who I raised. She is now 35 and has 3 beautiful children of her own.
The huge responsibility associated with raising a child seems to be lost amongst those in wealthy familys that have the funds to afford nannies, home school, tutors, etc. Kids in everyday life that are not that fortunate, will put a huge burden on the family as well as themselves

I hated the movie Juno, but I seemed to be the only one. I knew the ramifications of how cute teenage girls everywhere would think how neat it would be to have a baby. Jamie Lynn didn't help with her morals, either. Grandmas and grandpas are all in for a treat when their teenager wants to go out with her friends who don't have babies. At least she'll be bringing home a brother or sister for her first one. And the beat goes on.
I am not here to judge Jamie Lynn because we are not the judger but it is what it is, this girl is an idol to a lot of young audiences and some of the children who have watched her show still don't realized what has happened and don't understand it. This is mainly due because some parents are christians and we raised our children on Godly values, this doesn't take a rocket scientist to accomplish, it just takes years of home-training and it is very obvious that the both of these girls pretty much done just what theyfelt they were big enough to do and their parents were so mesmorized by the glamour and income that they allowed it to progress. The same thing about it though is that when Brittany got to the point where she had all the money she could spend and all the fame, she finally realized she didn't have real love so she had to start rebelling to get some different forms of attention and that's her parent's fault. Then to top it off she rubbed it off on her little sister in which she learned from her big sisters example instead of from her mother. Like I said before, I'm not judging these girls because they have no clue, their parents are the one who let them down. Sad thing about though is where will the both of them be and their children ten years from now. And you wander why these fallen stars comment suicide!!!!!!!!!! God is not pleased with us and when he comes back to choose his children, we are going to be so lost. We ALL need Prayer!!!!!!
ayo ppl make mistakes dammit ok thats y GOD allows us to repent no1 here knows what morals their parents r teaching thm so get off ur throne i dont give a dam wat u have an havnt dun n ur life u r no bettr thn her me and anyone else i believe she just took a bad situation n made it benifit her thats wat a smart person duz aftr making a mistake and give her credit bcuz she is taking ful responsibility of her actions
Sadly though you ARE judging her! My kids were not raised in a 'christian' household and (I know this'll be amazing to all you 'christians' out there but NONE of them got pregnant as a teen, one is now married (she's 25) and the other two are in school. All without the hand of god in thier lives!
firstly let me say that just becuz ur children made it this far w/ god duznt mean they r gonna make it to heaven w/ out god (which is a def... no) God also serves as a support system particuarly during hard time now im only 16 yrs old (goin on 17) and a christian and i hate thm Holy Rolers just as much as u do i try not to judge ppl n shyt n yea ppl do take the bible n try to make it fit thm n interpret it the way they like but beleiving in a greatr and higher power is more thn just petty shyt like having sex b4 marriage its about making to othr side so ur soul kan live on in eternal happiness n all that its greatr and more intense thn all this stupd human shyt ikd how that sounds to u but i just wantdd 2 put that out there
I thought I was the only one who thought the movie Juno sent the wrong message; glad to hear there are others.
Essentially, when you're that young and preganant it is clear what you have been up to and your maturity level is lacking when contraceptives aren't used.
Amazing. Teen pregnancy has been harshly criticized....until now. Now its OK! apparently. Why? Because she's a blond teen queen that looks like the wholesome "girl next door" as opposed to so "ghetto" hispanic or african american female? Funny, how when she "didnt have a boyfriend" when she got pregnant. Oh, and she's rich and taken care of, so its a wonderful happy thing! I wonder how you mom's and dad's will feel when its your "innocent" daughter with the baby for a new fashion accessory.
God says: "In this society, up to now, it has not been ok to glamorize teen pregnancy because nobody wants to help the expectant mom out. This is because parents, friends, family and society are selfish individuals who would sit by and watch two young lovers go down the tubes without lifting a finger to help them out."
God said that? Really?
I love how the OK! says in their interview that Jamie Lynn is making smart choices after seeing what her sister went through. So having unprotected sex, getting pregnant, and having a baby at 16 is a smart choice?!?
God says: "Smarter than drugs and self destruction...yes! Choosing to be in love....yes! "
Well, she's only 17. She hasn't gotten that far in life. I'm sure she'll eventually follow in big sister's footsteps....it's only a matter of time.
That's so very interesting. So when and where exactly did God say that (and all your other quotes)?
today in my room.
I have followed biblical guidance and prayerfully searched and found audience with God.
I like to help others to do the same so they do not have to rely on pastors or prophets or translations.
Thats right, shift the blame. Its our fault horny teens sneaking around dont strap up.
Who says they didn't use protection? Were you there? Are you her doctor? Because then you would know if she was on birth control or not. Leave her alone.
Not every teenager like Jaime has a happy ending. She has wealth and is surrounded by people who will help her with childcare and other celebrity royalties, unlike our average teen in America. We need to becareful what is posted because if we glamorize something or someone too much chances are teens think it's some kind of fad and end up desiring it. We need better teen role models out there in Hollywood.
deffinately glamorized teen pregnancy. I had a baby at 16, it was NOT easy, i did NOT look radiant and beautiful. Most teen girls dont realize that SHE has the MONEY and the NANNY and is not your average teen girl.
And even if she doesn't have the nanny and takes care of it on her own (with mommy and daddy's help), it's not like she's going to have to pay for the daycare so she can go to work and have to provide for it. She can already provide for it and be a stay-at-home mom. Which is great, don't get me wrong, but that wouldn't be the situation for everyone else. If you had a child when you were younger and made it work, that's great. But you had to work harder than she will ever have to and that's what younger teens probably won't realize.
Comment: When you say that certain words are NOT God's you are implying that you know God's words.
I am saying the same thing and you condemn me for it.
I hope you can see the logic in this. If so, we can continue our discussion.
I am not saying I know God's words, simply that you are saying "God said" which means it is something He said. To me, that means it needs to come from some religious reference, so where is it coming from? If you can't give me a reference, it is just coming from you and THAT IS BLASPHEMY. I simply hope you are some punk kid that does stuff like that to get a rise out of people like me.
I do say stuff like that in hopes of getting a rise out of someone.....for the sake of true communication
I am a great grandfather of three and probably not to be confused with a punk kid.
I have followed biblical guidance and prayerfully searched and found audience with God.
I like to help others to do the same so they do not have to rely on pastors or prophets or translations.

you may choose to perceive me as a "punk kid" so that you can discount the words. I have three great grand children and have lived a long life. part of that life was, like yours, as a sheep. the next part of my life was spent in solitude, reading the bible and seeking guidance. The next part of my life was spent in solitude, fasting, praying and seeking God's revelations directly. To my great joy, it worked!
firstyl i agree that parents need to take bettr responsibility of this new genertation of children we are a wile generation and i do think the pregnancy shud have been kept lowkey becuz the media is too strong of an influence of children regardless of wat they thought they were doing i kno alot of parents were very upset when her pregnancy was publicized
yet as humans no ones on this fukn planet has the righ to judge her or kall her trash or any1 else who gets prenate or watever her behavior is obviously inapropiate but u ppl on this thing r so judgmental my god like nun of u have neeever made a fukn mistake its not about stupidity or how u were raisd or anything like that shyt happens so ge tthe *** ovr it n leave her alone if ya'll wanna get on sumbody get on these fukn politics n government who r running this country to hell leave these fukn celebrities alone they make mistakes to like regular poor ppl too shyyt!!!!!!!
This is a fine example of how immoral this society has become. The media and publications still exploiting the lives of teens who make poor choices in their lives just to make a huge profit off of it. And doing the same off of her sister, Britney. I'd like to suggest to people reading this that if you have even half a brain that you don't bother to buy the OK! magazine and ignore any of the tabloids and gossip on TV. We all know what the reality is with raising a newborn. I know for sure she is not hunky dory as she appears on the cover. Nor does mommy and daddy think so. If I were them, I would be quite humiliated for my 2 daughters...
Dude this is 2008 get over it! More young girls are becoming mothers. So what if Angelina and Brad cheated, GET OVER IT! It's their lives not ours! I do NOT see Jamie Lynn as a whore! So she started having sex at a young age! Alot of human beings are doing that and have been doing it! Just because she became pregnant does NOT give us the right to (want to) ostrasize her!
*claps* Thank You! I totally agree with you.

Why doesn't she go to college and earn a degree and then do something positive for this world, like feed the hungry or volunteer to help the homeless?! I think she's encouraging already slutty teenage girls to be more slutty and get pregnant! I think she should cast as a whore and no one should bother with her.
Well, why dont you feed the hungry?
Girls should be told that once you have a baby, you are at least 50% less attractive as a possible mate. (that goes for guys and girls) Nobody is going to want to date someone with a crying baby or a nagging kid. Jamie Lynn is a little different, Because guys will continue to want to sleap with her for the goof factor, or bragging rights. But unless you are ritch or famous, you may as well get used to using your right hand, or new toy, instead of going out on a saturday night.
I am glad that teenagers can see that teen pregnancy can cross into stardom and it does not pick and choose its "victims". I have not read the article, so I have not idea if the truth about how difficult it is to raise a baby is discussed, especially those first critical weeks of life when you do not know if they are eating enough, exhaustion has set in, and your hormones are on a roller coaster. If the truth is discussed and Jamie honestly shares the difficult days and nights she has experienced, how miserable pregnancy can be, how painful labor is, and what she has missed out on in life since she became pregnant and gave birth then I would totally approve of the publication of the article. I have three children, my youngest being 8 months and I cannot imagine taking on this responsiblity as a teenager. My oldest daughter is 10 and I no longer allow her to watch Zoie 101, although I know Jamie made a mistake, I do not feel my daughter should idiolize her on T.V. It is sad that the fact is that Disney, Nickelodeon, and OK magazine do not care about the underlying effects that the glamourization of Jamie Spears' pregnancy can have on tweens and teens.
