also to add another comment...... big deal she has lots of money to take care of her stuff..... she made it big in the entertainment world. SORRY YOU DIDNT!! everyone needs to get over it!! Its done with, you cant change it. She atleast kept her baby!! Yeah she can afford alotof things you guys cant but thats her!! NOT YOU! and noone needs to judge! Its her life! Leave her alone!! and stop trying to blame a cover if another teen gets pregnant.. as A PARENT YOU SHOULD TALK TO YOUR KID ABOUT TEEN PREGNANCY>> OR BIRTH CONTROL!! SO GET OFF THIS DAMN COMP AND DO YOUR JOB AS A PARENT AND IF YOUR KID GETS PREGNANT IT COULD BE YOUR LACK OF PARENTING ON GIVING THEM THE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT WHAT COULD HAPPEN!! do your job and dont blame the cover!!

she is lucky that she made money... and parents should talk to their kids FIRST... but as a sex educator, i find that many of the kids i work with have little to no education from their parents... and while we can try to make the parents talk to their kids, in the mean time, they are reading articles like this and being influenced elsewhere... the cover and article don't cause the problem but they are certainly contributing!

You know the impact those celebrities make on kids and you use it for you profit. Well thank you, and thank you Jamie Lynn because no doubt her baby will have all the necessary things and money to buy what she pleases and she will have all the nannies she needs when she decides she doesn't feel like playing mommy. I bet you won't be there to take the picture of any misguided kid(s) that thinks its cute and cool.

Look...OK! magazine is dedicated to celebrity crap and it is no worse than Tiger Beat, Cosmo Girl, Cosmo or any other celebrity, sex and vapid consumerism peddling magazine. As you all know, celebrities are highly flawed individuals, like the rest us. However, only like the rich and wealthy, they have the financial means to fuel their addictions, narcissism, demons, vanity AND stupidity. Jamie Lynn Spears is a misguided (by the incredibly smart Spears family as OK! would have you to believe) and spoiled girl who thought that the rules didn't apply. I wonder where she learned that? On the other hand, her parents didn't her start sleeping around, especially without birth control. That is a typical teenage pregnancy act of gross stupidity. Finally, her baby's father is equally to blame. It takes two to tango and I pray that he and Jamie Lynn DON'T get married for their child's sake. They are both immature and not ready for parenthood (I'm sure that most, but not all, of you can agree that it takes more than money to be ready for parenthood). The same applies to their being ready for marriage. I do not wish them failure, but the odds are against them are exacerbated by her families celebrity and wealth.

Some celebrity marriages. Most do not. If Halle Berry and Salma Hayek can't get their acts together until they are in their forties (add Madonna and host of other well known actresses to that list), then what chances does a 17 year old and her deer in the headlights fiance stand?

Ah yes the family value system of bygone days..........If I remember correctly, that's when a pregnant girl would have to move away to live with distant cousins to spare the family embarassment. I'm not condoning teen pregnancy by any stretch but at least nowadays, the child doesn't have to be raised in the attic.

    • Posted By: jenr1221 @ 07/15/2008 4:50:14 AM

The baby has a dad...Casey Aldridge

For someone who claims to be a wiselady, you don't have much going for you.

      • Posted By: wiselady @ 07/15/2008 4:58:37 AM

seems as if the dad were proud, he'd be in the photo and maybe pocket some of that $$$ too. Maybe there'll be a dna results to determine which dad gets the $$$

        • Posted By: jenr1221 @ 07/15/2008 9:51:05 AM

Maybe OK! didn't give a *** about the dad?

      • Posted By: C.A.R. @ 07/15/2008 6:24:42 AM

        Then,don't be a wise ass!

      • Posted By: wiselady @ 07/15/2008 4:57:11 AM

Who appointed you to the judge ship? Do you know him personally or did you read it in this pitiful excuse for a magazine?

  • Posted By: aubs87 @ 07/15/2008 9:50:32 AM

i think its a bit ridiculous, that the editor of OK! would sit there an say that Jamie is an "exceptional girl," basically telling its readers that if you have money, you can have whatever you want even a baby at the age of 16, & not suffer consquences true that she will probably get remarks bashing her about her teen sex escapades, but those arent even consider consquences. She has money & a mom whose going to help her with anything, its not like she is going out working at some minimum-wage job trying to pay rent & what not, so why are we giving her so much praise, shes already done the deed & got pregnant & life will go on, its just wrong to publize it all like this. Its getting a point across that its okay to go have sex, even when your body especially at that age isnt ready for it.

Have to agree in a big way here with the following comments. This magazine should be ashamed of themselves. Jamie Lynn is still technically a CHILD. She can't vote, buy alcohol, sign a contract without parental consent. Sure, she looks older and has more money than most adults do, but she's still just a child. I live in a very small town and the pregnancy rate among our teenage girls is through the roof. (out of a graduating class of 46 kids, 9 of the girls were either pregnant or had a child already) I've got 2 young men (20 and 19) and 3 young ladies (19, 17, and 13). I thank God that none of my kids have had to come home and tell me and their Dad that we're going to be grandparents. My youngest said it best recently about the Spears family. She said if one kid messes up, you look at the kid. When both mess up, you look at the parents. Jamie Lynn and Brit's mother needs to be slapped and banned from any and all contact with anyone under the age of 21.

Jamie Lynn is a young girl obviously without clear parental involvement and direction and has made a mistake. I am glad she decided to keep the baby, but OK magazine printing this story and referring to the baby as sleeping in the parent's bed, etc is really sick. It is just another step in our slow and steady march toward total lack of morals, class and discipline. What a shame!!

Honestly, I think parents are looking for someone else to blame. If parents are teaching and raising their own children properly than they shouldn't be worried. If anything, they could use this and all celebrity pregnancies as a stepping stool to teach their children instread of using the excuse that Jamie Lyn got pregnant, so my daughter went and got pregnant. That's ridiculous. If you're teaching morals to your children and paying attention to what they are doing and who thery are doing it with and openly communicating then you really shouldn't be as concerned. Those parents that are freaking out about this appear very insecure about their own parenting skills. Quit blaming everyone else.

That guy was obviously just trying to get ahold of that money, one pregnant sluet at a time, living the K-Fed dream.

  • Posted By: philyau @ 07/15/2008 9:47:30 AM

Because Jamie Lynn is a mother at the age of 17 and is able to afford her electric bill makes it okay for her to bring a child in the world...reality she is still a statistic...she is an unwed teenage mother...I get so disgusted reading about wealthy people having babies and because they can take care of them financially its okay...OK Magazine; you should not glorify just this one "teen mother"...glorify them all...she is no better than any other...take away the money and fame and all the other things and what do you get ...a statistic...that taxpayers have to take care of...you people are ridiculous

  • Posted By: mgar @ 07/15/2008 9:47:28 AM

Your view is exactly what is wrong with this country and it's morals...you will accept anything and ignore it. Maybe YOU should get a grip.

What is the real message that we r sending to our young girls today? I know if i had a baby at the age of 16yr or even having sex at that age, my mother would kill me. I'm just so scared because I know alot of little girls look up to her and all that they are showing is the glamours side of this situation. they don't mention all the downs and dangers that come with having a baby. Not to mention the cost!!!! those little things are EXPENSIVE. The average 16yr old wont be able to take care of a baby by there self and once again the parent s are gonna have to take over. so please talk to your girl. Be honest with them and listen........

  • Posted By: NFG123 @ 07/15/2008 9:46:50 AM

Both my eight-yr olds said - "ahhh, she looks so cute with her baby.." I said..." AHHHHHHH, she shouldn't have a baby, guys...it's not CUTE!" She's too young to have a baby and now her life has changed forever...." it was not repsonsible of her - we shold make better decisions with our lives...right?"

  • Posted By: psh321 @ 07/15/2008 9:46:47 AM

I know all to well you can't watch your children 24/7

  • Posted By: eaelias @ 07/15/2008 9:46:35 AM

The fact remains that the cover of the magazine blatantly glamorizes her story... the tagline doesn't read, "It's been a long, hard journey," but rather, "Being a mom is the best feeling in the world." And while this can be true, the cover does not touch upon the so-called hard choices she's made, drawing people to buy the magazine (for a convenient $0.50, which many teenagers can afford). This story DOES glamorize teen pregnancy... I wish Jamie-Lynn Spears all the luck in the world, but she has the resources, money, and support that many teen mothers DO NOT.

I would just like to say that this is a hard subject for people to understand and unless you have been in the position to have to make the choice that she made I dont think you should talk. I had a child when I was 16 and chose to raise him and i would never take that back. Do you think the public would have been happier if they found out later she had chose to end her pregnancy because of what people might think? Its a hard choice money or no money you still have to deal with the world judging you and being in the spot light and I think makes it more difficult.
