I would think that this article would show young mothers (or soon to be mothers) that they are not the only one and it can happen to anyone. I would think that at 16, you would know the difference between your life and a celebrity's and if not, that is not Jamie Lynn Spears' problem. She is doing her job (as a celebrity) and making money to raise her child. Whether or not her parents help (if it was your daughter wouldn't you?) or if she hires a nanny (if you had the money wouldn't you?) to help is irrelevant.

Jamie Lynn Spears is not an idol of 16-year-olds. She is admired and watched by "tweeners", 10- and 12- and 14- year -olds. And, no, they DON'T know the difference between their lives and celbrities', and many believe they can BE Zoey when they grow up, and this whole mess makes them far too grown-up for their years. If Lynn Spears and the Disney channel had any sense of shame or social conscience at all, they would have hidden Jamie away the minute she became pregnant.

    really ?

yet Angelina Jolie is not married ; has babies with a man she gained through adultery; has a history of kissing her brother on the mouth, cutting herself during adolescent s*x and somebody is worried about Jamie Lynn Spears ? She is a 17 year old mom who hasn't done gross disgusting things like Angelina and chose to have her baby rather than have loads of S*x with any old guy that comes along --like Angelina. Angelina is a well worn path. .

You are absolutely right about all of this junk , but where she now in her life..............forgiven, making changes trying to live a good life , giving back to the community, We all have a closet of skeletons , whats yours , whats mine do you have a lifetime to listen.............i am not proud , by any means of the things i have done, but i have learned the hard lesson life , sometimes we suck at it and sometimes well grace appears.............when do we allow that to happen? Angelina is a well worn path and shining brighter all the time it's called maturity..........gbabe77@yahoo.com

      I totally agree with you...Angelina is a hubby-stealing, home-wrecking skank.

WELL I THINK THAT IT IS OK THAT OK MAGZINE DID THIS. IT IS TELLING A STORY LIKE THEY SAID ABOUT JAMIE AND AS WE ALL KNOW EVERY TEEN IS NOT IN HER SHOES. SHE HAS MONEY. SHE CAN AFFORD TO STAY ON HER OWN AND RAISE HER FAMILY. IF YOU REALLY LOOK BACK IN TIME MOST OF US HAD KIDS AT OR AROUND THAT AGE MAYBE JUST A YEAR OR TWO OLDER BUT THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE FOREVER. PEOPLE HAS FORGOT ABOUT THAT. TEENAGERS DIDN'T JUST START HAVING KIDS AND I THINK THAT PEOPLE NEED TO REALIZE THAT. DOES IT SEND A MESSAGE TO TEENS OUT THERE TO GO HAVE BABY'S NO. IF YOU TEACH YOUR CHILDERN THE RIGHT AND WRONGS THEN IT DOESN'T SEND A MESSAGE AT ALL. BUT SITTING AROUND PERDICTING THAT IT DOES ALL THE TIME DOES AND HEY. TEENS HERE WHAT YOU SAY WHEN YOU TALK LIKE THAT. SAYING AND PUTTING THAT OUT SENDS A MESSAGE THAT TEENS SHOULDN'T HEAR. CAUSE I THINK TALKIG ABOUT HER THAT WAY MAKES OTHER TEENS WANT IT MORE.

Unbelievable. I can't believe that they would make this look so wonderful. I would expect several hundred thousand teen girls to see this and be excited about the prospects of being a 13-year old mommy. I would like to thank OK! for adding more tax payer dollars in all fifty states going toward unwed teen mothers and their babies starting about 9 months from now. Great job, idiots.

What a stupid whore, congrats on being a piece of ***.

  • Posted By: Xanthorpe @ 07/15/2008 9:40:45 AM

JL has to live with her decision the rest of her life - I hope she makes good choices. I am so happy she chose to have the baby and not another alternative.

I think the article sets a dangerous precedent because there are a lot of teen girls who already romanticize having a baby with their boyfriend and living happily ever after. Even if JL didn't already have a substantial bank account, the reported $1 million that OK paid her for the shoot goes a long way toward establishing financial security for this child.

Unfortunately, this isn't the case in a large majority of teen pregnancies - I hope that is pointed out clearly and often in the OK article.

Ahhh Helll--oooo.... teen pregnancy is nothing new. It's been happening for years. Why would this particular teen pregnancy be such a shock. Because she's a semi-celebrity.. come on wake up... its all over the place being an unwed mother and all. We are not back in the 60s, where this was a total disgrace and parents would send their teenage daughter to go live in another state to have a baby, thats the era I grew up in. This result also falls on parents, not being able to talk to their teens openly about sex and using protection so that you won't become pregnant at such an early age. I am a 45 year old mother and has been raised by my parents to speak openly and not hide things, especially when you know this is the type of culture we as Americans live in. Things have diffinetely has changed since I was a teen. But that still doesnt change the fact that is not out there. People we need to wake up and talk to your children so that this wouldn't happen. But if it does. It'll be okay.. For it is not the end of the world.

This is an article about taking responsibility for the choices you make. Both Jamie and her fiancée chose to have sex and they got pregnant and now they are owning up to their responsibility. Can every teenage mother and father afford to keep their child: clearly no. But the article does not suggest that. Perhaps links to adoption agencies at the end of the article would have been helpful, but not necessary. What you have is a young man and woman who made the choice to have sex and are accepting the consequences of that choice. And since when is there an age requirement for feeling good about being a parent? Suddenly you must be ???this old??? to enjoy parenthood. Yes it is not ideal circumstances, but at least you have two parents mature enough to accept responsibility for their actions. What is the alternative? Shun and ostracize them? You might as well shun every teenager that has ever had sex ??? birth control is not 100% effective even when used correctly every time. Read the freakin??? package!

to stunner: Yes I think its fine for a 28 year old to be in love with a mature 16 or 17 year old. In this society most 16 year olds act like kids cause they are brought up with that expectation. Biologically obviously they are ready to have a baby. So they should be mature by then. One of my best friend parents started dating at 16 & 26 and they have been happily married since she was 18

I still think her and her sister are whores. Theres nothing cute about teen pregnancy. Even if your famous. Does this look cute to you?<a href="http://s221.photobucket.com/albums/dd319/dangerouslyxdavid/?action=view&current=middle_school_pregnant_teens.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd319/dangerouslyxdavid/middle_school_pregnant_teens.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Jamie Lynn is a slut. We know Brittany is the definition of "slut". "OK" chooses to glamorize sluts. 'Nuff said.

    • Posted By: jenr1221 @ 07/15/2008 9:38:13 AM

just because somebody got pregnant at 16, that does not make them a slut. It makes them Naive.

  • Posted By: For-Adoption @ 07/15/2008 9:37:51 AM

Teenage pregnancy has always been a problem, but in the last decade I thought it was on the decline...however, yes I do think that Jamie Lynns will be a factor in teen girls thinking it's ok...and of course "they'll follow the leader"...they're still kids for crying out loud! They just don't stop to think that Jamie Lynn has boo coo bucks up and that having and raising a baby ain't cheap girls. What...welfare for the rest of you lives? SAD :(

  • Posted By: mmhmmxitsxkate @ 07/15/2008 9:37:26 AM

I cannot judge Jamie Lynn, because I had wound up in the same situation. I am not a spokesperson for teen pregnancy, and neither is Jamie, nor do we want to be; however, it's great to see that she actually had the baby, and is choosing to raise her. Too many people these days would just get an abortion, adn that is murder. So while I am not proud of what Jamie and I have done, I am proud to hear that she did the right thing, and decided to raise her child.

  • Posted By: colclasure @ 07/15/2008 9:16:30 AM

"NEWSWEEK: On the cover of the magazine, Jamie Lynn says that "being a mom is the best feeling in the world." Do you think you're giving your readers, many of whom are Jamie Lynn's age or younger, an overly glamorous take on teenage pregnancy?"

What is she supposed to say? My baby is a mistake and I was stupid? That would be a nice thing for the child to read when they get older. Having my baby was the best feeling in the world to me and it would still have been the best feeling if I had, had my baby at 16. So should she lie and tell everyone that her baby was a mistake at the expense of her child's feelings just for little kids everywhere.

    • Posted By: jeanbee @ 07/15/2008 9:37:20 AM

I wouldn't worry about what this child of Jamies' reads when they get older. When "Grandma" gets ahold of her, she'll have the same issues to deal with. I'm a money-maker for the Spears' family.
I would worry FAR more about what these un-wanted babies whose "parents" decide they weren't ready for them find out.......like who really raised them, held them when they were afraid, crying from hunger or sickness, etc. All while "mommy and probably daddy" were out doing the things they now feel they lost out on. I do not judge the Spears' family for their mistakes,,, I judge them and this dumb magazine for their way of glamorizing it. WHY SHOULD PARENTING BE MADE ANY HARDER BY THESE IDIOTS BRAGGING ON THE FRONT COVER OF A MAGAZINE WHILE MAKING A MILLION ON IT? I'm glad to see that most of you people on here truly understand the main issue, and don't try to sugar coat it.

I was a teen mother at one time, and it's extremely difficult, mainly because I didn't have millions of dollars to do with what was needed. I worked two jobs and still didn't make enough to make ends meet. Do I think less of her for getting pregnant? Yes, because she was in the public eye, directed toward the "tween" age group. Do I think less of the magazine? No. They're doing what they do best. I do wish that they would've portrayed her as a teen still (On the cover) and not a middle-aged woman. She looks horrific with that dress and make-up done to make her look older. She's still a teenager!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

None of this B.S. is even worthy of conversation. First of all, who really gives a sh--! I'm sure it wasn't a planned pregnancy. She just got "unlucky" and wasn't careful during a sexual escapade, of which there probably were many. The priorities and warped values of our society in general is pathetic!
