I think it is really up to the parents of young girls and teenagers to talk to their children about this subject and not to let a magazine dictate their childs opinion. If their daughter is influenced by a magazine article then it is said to be a failure in parenting.
What kind of parent lets their teen/young girl read OK magazine anyway???

Yes Ok! Magazine, thank you once again for glorifying teen pregnancy! Did you ever stop and think about one thing, Jamie can afford to have kids (money wise that is). If her sister, you know the original opps!, had never made it big, we would never had heard of Jamie Lynn Spears of Zoey 101 fame. She would be just be another teenager in LA (the state not the city) with no money, no highschool diploma or GED, no real job, and oh yeah Opps! a baby. Why don't you report on that!
get with it OK! quit acting like you really care about teen pregnancy, the cover sold your magazine which is what you were really going after, SALES! Opps you did it again!

Comment: As a single mother of three, I believe that every decision we as parents and as humans make will effect the lives of our children. People make choices daily and every one of them have a consequence. Some bad and some good. It is not what happens in the beginning of the consequence that makes a major effect but what happens during and after the choice has been chosen. Live and live on purpose. She is a mommy now, the question should be , how can we instill better choices in our youth and learn from those choices at the same time. It is what it is , she will be just fine and so will her big sister. Have people forgotten about prayer , it does change things and oh how it works. Have you prayed for someone today?

Come on now.......of course putting her on the cover with that "poor" innocent child was a rating and selling ploy. Obviously this would spring debate.....here we are debating "Way to go O.k." Mission accomplished!

Are these teenagers skipping the classes on birth control and safe sex? While the mother made a million for selling her pics and story, the working class of America is supporting way too many, born way too soon. This is a tragedy. She is not mature enough to handle raising a baby and we already know her mother (baby's grandmother) is not the best role model for motherhood either, just good at making money off her daughters!

I am absolutely appalled that our world has come to making a buck over morals and values. 30-50 years ago, pregnant teenagers would do anything to hide the fact that they had made a bad decision....now we're paying them millions to get pictures of her and the baby? And people actually wonder why teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, and voilence is at an all time high? Along with the crumbling morals of our society? Kids WERE NOT meant to have kids...and it should not be glamourized when it happens!

i think that they are GLAMORIZING teen pregnancy the the highest extent..they put this young girl who has a life of luxury on the cover of a magazine and have her talk about how great it is to be preganant and have a baby at sixteen, sure if i was the star of my own TV program, my sister was Britney Spears, and I just got a millon dollars for pictures of my baby then I would think life was great too ( at any age), but lets be real..how many of the OK readers (escpecially the young ones) have that type of life, how many of the young teenage girls reading that article have millions and can afford to give the baby to a nanny when its crying, or don't have to worry about how they are going to provide for a baby at sixteen...that article made it like having a baby as a teenager is the greatest thing in the world, these girls have no clue what it is like to be a mother, or to be raised by a teenage mother...how about you interview the children who grew up in those circumstances the real circumstances,,,the ones who watched there mother struggle to put food on the table, who watched there mother have to work two jobs just to provide the basic needs, not some young girl who is living in her own" reality" who has no clue what the real world really is like..and we wonder why people are shocked when a group of young girls make a pact to get pregnant and raise their children together..it is just so sad to me...

"The Spears are very, very smart young girls and Jamie Lynn has learned a lot from watching Britney", are you kidding? Is that why she was pregnant and unwed at 16. How smart was that? I hope the Disney Channel is smart enough to cancel her show or at the least replace her. In the real world teenage pregnancy is not glamorous and either the grandparents or the government end up raising a lot of the children born to these teens. Does Jamie Lynn have her high school diploma? Has she gone to college? The young people who have taken the time for those accomplishments are who should be on the magazine covers. Jamie Lynn Spears hasn't accomplished anything but riding on her sisters coattails.

Comment: Jamie Lynn sent a loud message to the world. ABORTION STOPS A BEATING HEART! She chose life and her MORALS AND VALUES??? reflect her decision. When a teen is faced with an unwanted or planned pregnancy their are options. As a mother of three adopted children, I thank God for my three unwanted or unplanned miracles.

Seriously... where were her morals and values when she was laying on her back having unprotected sex as a minor???

I am a father of a 12 year old girl and a 5 year old boy. And for anyone to say this is ok in any form or fasion is out of their mind. I didn't who jamie lynn was until my 5 year old said look dad that little girl is had a baby are little girls suppose to have babbies? For some one to say that little girls don't do things that they see on tv is a joke. I work in law enforcemnt and I know of a lot of cases where grade school age girls were getting suspended from school because they were kissing their friends in the bathroom their excuse was that they had seen mndanna, aguleria and britney spears do it on an award show and they thought it was ok because they were soing it. I sat in meany group sessions for teenage parents and most of them will tell you that they got pregnent because they seen some teeage mom that they saw on tv say it is so great being a mom they wanted to be a mom. They say yes being a mom is get but rasing a child when you are not capabule is not. Even if you have money you get drained emotionally. My 12 year old daughter loves hannah montanna and when she saw pictures of her in a magize in her underware she wanted the same kind just because see wears that kind of underware. If the spears were any kind of parents they would have pressed charges for statitory rape which is a felony and when he got out he would have to registar as a sex offender, but they didn't do it. This is the worse possible message that we could send to our young childern and it promotes more and young people to commit crimes. I have been around so many childern caught stealing diapers and baby food because they can not get a job to support their teenage girlfriends baby and they get sent to prison please america we need to wake up and show our childern the proper way for our kids to live productive and safe lives where they have a furture that gives they every opputunity to succed.

i think it's sick !!!!!!!!! Society has really lost it's grip by glorifying these girls who have no business having children, since they are still babies themselves. Let's see where Mr. Aldridge is in about 2 yrs !!!!!

It's not like any of us picks up OK! magazine and thinks, "Gee, I wonder what kind of solid, moral content I'll find in here?" It's a trash mag, people! They're not writing about Jamie because they give a crap about her; they'll write down whatever brings them that Almighty Dollar, you know? Just look at the header for their photo: "Being a mom is the best feeling in the world." Sorry, but young Miss Spears is far from being a Mom; she's nothing more than the biological mother of her child. It takes more than giving birth to be a Mom. Does OK! care about that? Well what do you think?

    • Posted By: MommyOfTwo @ 07/15/2008 8:40:32 AM

She is a mother. She had a healthy pregnancy. Gave birth to a healthy baby. And loves and cares for the baby that she kept. She is a mother. Are you a parent? A mom? The second that I became pregnant with my child, I became a mother. I love her uncondionally and care for her. I am a mother. And so is Jamie Lynn.

I Think her kid will be raised by nannys and she won't have to lift a finger. Both Gurls are spoiled rotten. Yes this makes getting prego look great to all the other teenage gurls eyes out there. Problem is Jamie will pay for her child and WE TAX PAYEES END UP PAYING FOR ALL THE OTHER STUPID TEENAGE GURLS WHO GET THEMSLEVES KNOCKED UP. Nice job OK, now we can have even more gurls kids we will have to support!

Of course it does, but many women have such serious issues of entitlement, believe they can do whatever they want, whenever they want, regardless of how tasteless, immoral, or illegal it may be. Just look at the sentences women receive in criminal courts in comparison to men, for the same crime. Men simply have the 'intent' to have sex with a minor and are sentenced routinely to 5-8 years in prison. Women that actually HAVE sex with minors are given suspended sentences, probation, house arrest, and much less number of years in prison in comparison to men. Women don't really want equality for all things, only the good stuff.

    • Posted By: jewelz4208 @ 07/15/2008 8:36:44 AM

Oh, you mean act like men have always acted? And right or wrong- OF COURSE there's not comparable sentencing for men and women when it comes to sex crimes because of the double standard lens through which everything is viewed..Everyone knows a teenage boys wants sex all the time, so how'r you gonna prosecute the woman that fulfilled his ultimate fantasy?
BTW-that's what's known as sarcasm, for those of you literal minded types

My opinion is what the there is quite big difference between kids or babies. The difference is what if their existance was planned consciousnessly or happened by accident of any means. I'm not trying to insult anyone, this is just a part of ancient wisdom and I agree. Sorry for my bad english/

This is ridiculous, why in the world would you put a 17 year old on the cover of a magazine with her baby saying how "wonderful" it is! Of course it is glamorizing a situation which at 17 is far from glamorous. They could have found someone or something better to occupy the cover than a child giving birth to a child... I'm done...
