I can't believe this! Are we so blind that we don't see what is going on. This is unconstitutional and we are one step away from the Gestapo. Just because one group of George Bush's business partners got through and attacked the U.S. we no find it justifiable to spy on each other. OBAMA's stance in Iraq is correct.THE IRAQI's must take control of their own security and U.S. troops must begin comming home by 2010. The nucleus of Al Queda is in AFGANISTAN AND PAKISTAN. IF they are defeated then there is no more AL Queda in IRAQ. Obama's assessment of refocusing the war on terror to AFGANISTAN AND PAKISTAN was most impressive.

What shocked me was his stance on the wiretapping bill. This is a clear violation of our privacy rights as AMERICANS. Unfortunately, this is just the tip of the iceberg. In 2010 REAL ID's will become law. Eventually the government will have all our personal information on a chip. I WAS VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED IN OBAMA's vote on this issue.

OUR CONSITITUTION IS ALL WE HAVE TO PROTECT OURSELVES AGAINST GOVERNMENTS WHO OVER REACH THEIR POWERS. WHAT MAKES OUR COUNTRY GREAT IS THE CHECKS AND BALANCES THAT ARE IN PLACE.

THE RATIONAL behind voting in favor of this bill cannot really be justified. I guess OBAMA is trying to show he can work with Republicans and is willing to comprimise. Inotherwords he voted for this controversial bill and will be able to use his vote as leverage for a bill he really wants passed in the future.

OBAMA has a fifty state strategy and has a good chance of winning four states which are traditionally republican strongholds, in the fall. He can make the case that he can work with Republicans and Democrats to get things done. IT is inevitable that one day these wire tap laws will be abused at the expense of our privacy. What is the big deal in getting a warrant. THIS IS WHAT PROTECTs US AMERICANS AGAINST POTENTIAL GOVERNMENT INTRUSION.

I DO NOT THINK AMERICANS REALLY UNDERSTAND THAT THE GOVERNMENT IS USING TERRORISM AS AN EXECUSE TO INVADE OUR PRIVACY. WE ALREADY HAVE PRIVACY ISSUES WITH CREDIT CARD COMPANIES AND CORPORATIONS WHO TRADE OUR PERSONAL INFORMATION AMONGST THEMSELVES TO INCREASE THEIR PROFITS.


THERE has not been one attack on AMERICAN SOIL SINCE 9/11. DURING THIS TIME WE DID NOT HAVE A WIRETAPPING BILL. SOMEHOW A CITIZEN GROUPS NEED TO ORGANIZE OURSELVES AND START FIGHTING TO GET OUR PRIVACY RIGHTS BACK.

If you don't have anything to hide-why worry?

The fact that a citizen wants government to refrain from listening to conversations intended to be private and to refrain from reading messages intended to be private, does not mean that such a citizen is hoping to hide anything improper. Suppose you are communicating with a relative or friend abroad or here in the United States about a personal matter, such as your own health problem, or your fear that a third party (a mutual friend of yours & of the person you're communicating with) may be suffering from alcoholism. Do you want some stranger employed by government to covertly read, or eavesdrop on, your private communication?

We should all demand that Dubya stay President for as long as he wants, because he has brought this country back from ruin. Remember the horrible mess created by Clinton in the '90s? The economy was horrible, energy prices were out of control, and a huge national debt was created. Thank God Dubya fixed all of those problems, and now he has made us all safe by wire tapping our phones. Have you heard yet of the long arm of the FBI called InfraGard? Just google it, and you will see that most states have this organization up and running. It's members are everyone from politicians, bank presidents, janitors, sales people, etc. They are supposed to be on the "alert" and report suspicious activity to their local FBI agent. They can also be armed, and can "shoot to kill". If you don't believe me, just enter InfraGard in your search engine, and see what comes up! Talk about what went on in Germany, when people were forced to spy on their neighbors, relatives and friends! This country, regardless of who is or will be running it, is going down the tubes fast! Re-read Orwell's 1984. He was prescient! Too bad we can't look into the future and see what the good ole USA will be like in 10 years or so. Although, I don't know if I really want to know.
