      Who is McBush? Never heard of him. mcCain & Bush have sparred and competed regularly over the years. Go do your homework and stop spewing MSNBC soundbites. You sound shallow and ignorant.

        sounds like the person needing to their home work is your Melizzards. You are correct that MCcain sparred with Bush many times on issues. but guess what, those issues they sparred in the past, he now agrees with bush . so can we say MCFLOPPER?

    By all means, if the country of VietNam wants McCain to win then McCain should obviously be President. After all, there is a little known codicle in the US Constitution that states if a Communist country has a preference about who should be President of the United States and their preference differs from the US voters, that the Communist country superceedes the wishes of the Americasn people. That is why this story is so groundbreaking.

    This article has no relevance in our presidential election. As noted, these folks are not registered voters. Of course they identify with McCain. He was a guest of theirs for over 5 years.

    On another note, would any republican candidate not be associated with Bush. You don't attempt to evaluate McCain on his own merits. You go along and pick a non-republican candidate who probably doesn't even know where Vietnam is. Heck he probably doesn't know where S.Side Chicago. Hate Bush all you want but it wasn't McCain who failed the aftermath of this invasion or was part of this invasion plan. It was the civilains that are now gone who failed the Amercian people by not listening to the generals in our Armed Forces. At least McCain has gone to sand box and talked with our military members. That's why he was knowledgeable enough to concur with the surge because he knew what our military needs. When's Obama gonna do that? Only when the cameras are there and only after he was called out by McCain.

    So stop wasting typespace and go do some research.

      Come on, lighten up! This is a human interest story; I found it interesting and it is relevant what people who tortured and helped McCain have to say about him. I thought this article was great.

      There is no way in hell I'd vote for him but the man lived in solitary confinement for two years (on average the worst a US inmate gets is 30 days) and only then relented, that says something about the strong mettle of the man behind the really crappy candidate.

        So as not to favor the republican candidate, why doesn't Newsweek do an article titled "Why Muslim countries want Obama as President?" That way we can show that American people are weak, soft, and want to go back to the days of Carter and Clinton. Back to the days where terrorists could push America around. They'll probably afraid that if Obama was elected, they'd be subjected to "Death by Diplomacy" Better run back to the Pakistani mountains and hope fake Allah will save them from the dreaded Diplomacy.

    I read the the article and it was interesting. However, I had a problem with the title of the Article. Why Vietnam loves McCain? The two guests on the cover of this article don't represent all of Vietnam! The title of this article should have been, "why some in Vietnam Love McCain"! The title of this article appears that all of "Vietnam Love McCain"!

    Second article where Vietnamese deny any torture. Since we have more then 260 returned vets & civilians, some with significant injury, and numerous who died in those camps, it's good to know Newsweek has no problem encouraging conspiracy freaks and allowing denial of such an event. What next, holocaust deniers get a full page? And what Vietnam wants in the election isn't relevent. Suprise: Vietnam has no electoral votes.

    There is something seriously wrong with giving so much time to Vietnam's view of McCain. The denial of torture is common there; but more then 250 men & women, military and civilians, were returned from POW imprisonment and we know first hand through them and their injuries the reality of torture that occurred there. Second article now where Vietnam gets to deny any torture. Way to become a propaganda platform!

    John McCain wants to win the war in Vietnam...only now it's called Iraq. He is an old man who has no clue that the war in Vietnam is over...and we lost. He also can not accept that the war in Iraq is a failure. He will continue with GWB's failed policy and kill more american for nothing. McCain=Bush Lite.

    And no one cares about Vietnam...let them eat their fish cakes in peace.

    Funny how the Pew Reserach poll found that other countries overwhelmingly prefer Obama.

    And one more thing: The fact of the matter is that we treated the NVA and Vietcong POWs no better than they treated ours. The only difference is that the North Vietnamese have forgiven us, and we have a hard time doing the same.

      The other thing tom remember: The only poeple obssesed with a war that ended 40 years afo are the Americans. and maybe the French and Australians The Vietnamese find our obsession a noverlty, a novelty threy can exploit for tourist dollers. Otherwise, they live, they move forwaad, they let go. We are the obsessed ones, grasping and clinging after a fale salvation. The locals are free in a way wee cannot understand, and have suffered in a way that only allows for release in the mosy elemental way, You dig?

    No other countries treat the prison as bad as Vietnam. They are responsible to the death of hundred thousands Vietnamese people who were put in what they called "Re-education" camp. They tortured them and the way they did it that make what the CIA waterboarding like a joke (and the american human right groups cried out for when we try this on the terrorists). They starving them and made them work like animal. Thousands of people never made and their remain were tossed somewhere in the jungle where the camp located at.

    Speaking as a person whojust returned from six weeks in Vietnam, I can say with someauthority, the people in Vietnam, just like the people in the rest of the world,by and large, are pulling for Obama. This story is a crock.

    So let John McCain got to Vietnam and STAY THERE.....that sounds great to me.... beats having another BUSHIE in the White HOUSE and another 4 years of recession and war.... I will help pay for that trip if he promises to take Bush and Cheney with him and for them never to come back!!!!!!!

    Who appoint Gramm to the Banking Committee? Sounds like someone in the White House. Stop trying to associate McCain with Bush and all his cronies. You don't know what McCain's plans are for his cabinet or any other post, so stop speculating just to trash McCain. Now Obama is a candidate you REALLY should be doing some of this investigative background research on. Why don't you write about all his Chicago connections, or how many times Rev. Wright has been to Libyia to see Kadaffi and how he backs Obama and said he has known Obama and Rev. Wright have been planning on him running for POTUS for 15 years. Or Obama's friend who has a direct connection with a terrorist. The Enron mess is over and done with and won't happen again. Thank goodness the conservative right is losing ground. But we need a leader who can lead. McCain can do that. He has lots friends in Washington. Obama is going to meet with lots of resistance.

      All MCcain's "Washington Friends" are the ones who have helped get us into the crap we are in right now. Mccain associates himself with Bush & Grammmm. Mccain was campaigning for the guy gramm a few years back. Bush appointed Gramm. Mccain likes Bush & Gramm ideas, gives him top position in campaign.

      Since when is Rev. Wright gonna make a plan to have anybody president? Can you say stupid? WHo gives a flying whoot what Wright thinks. If your priest fondles your kids and then tells you to go kill yourself, would you go do it?

      ANd connections with terroists!!! Whew!!! DOn't let me start on Bush kissing Bin Laden's ass all on camera. Before he demolished the WTC. WHy haven't we found him yet?
