WE ARE TO PRAY FOR THOSE WHO ARE LOST. OBAMA JUST SAID HE IS SEEKING LIKE MANY OTHER PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY. PRAY FOR THEIR SALVATION. YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN AND BELIEVE , THEN WHY DO YOU PUT OTHERS DOWN? JESUS CAME TO SEEK AND SAVE THE LOST. ARE WE NOT TO BE LIKE HIM? HE IS OUR EXAMPLE. WE ARE TO PRAY FOR OUR LEADERS. (GOD IS IN CONTROL OF WHO IS IN LEADERSHIP)HIS WORD SAYS SO AND IT IS ALL TRUTH. WE AS HIS CHILDREN NEED TO START PRAYING HARDER FOR THOSE WHO ARE SEEKING, WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY AS A DISCIPLE OF CHRIST JESUS. SOMEONE OPENLY SAYS HE IS SEEKING AND YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THEHOLY SPIRIT DID NOT MOVE YOU ON HIS BEHALF TO TELL HIM ABOUT OUR LORD JESUS. THAT JESUS TOOK UPON HIMSELF THE WRATH OF GODS JUDGMENT FOR US. WE WERE TO HAVE HAD THAT CUP, BUT NOOOOOOOOOO! JEUS SAID NO FATHER I WILL GO IN THEIR PLACE. HE WENT TO THE CROSS FOR ALL OF US.
AND YOU TELL ME YOU COULDNT TELL OBAMA, ALSO FORMED IN HIS MOTHERS WOMB BY GOD HIMSELF AND CREATED FOR GOD, THAT JESUS CHRIST LOVES HIM AND IS WAITING FOR HIM TO COME TO HIM.
GOODNESS PEOPLE....AMERICA IS SICK AND DYING AND INSTEAD OF PRAYING FOR THE LOST YOU JUST SIT AND GOSSIP AND JUDGE INSTEAD. REMEMBER WE WERE ONCE LOST AND CHRIST DIED ON THAT TREE WHEN WE WERE YET SINNERS. IF I COULD GIVE YOU ALL SOME STONES OVER THE INTERNET I WOULD,,,FEEL FREE TO CAST THE FIRST ONE, IF YOU OF COURSE ARE WITHOUT SIN.

IF YOU KNOW JESUS , YOUR SINS ARE WIPED CLEAN, BUT WE ARE CHOSEN BEFORE THE FOUNDATUION OF THE EARTH, WHO ARE YOU TO DECIDE IF SOMEONE IS NOT TO BE YOUR BROTHER OR SISTER IN CHRIST.?
TELL THEM , DO NOT KEEP SILENT. SOMEONE TOLD YOU!

Please, save this stuff for church! You can live your life in servitude if you want, but personally I think that would be a huge waste of my precious time on earth.

HI WRpeach -- have you lost your house, your job or your pension?

Actually because of the policies of Bush/to be continued by McCain - lots of Americans have. I am certainly not holier than thou. In fact I actually care about you. I care that you do not lose your job to someone overseas. I care that you can keep the Social Security you paid into -- that our safety net is strong. Somehow because of the policies of the last eight years our safety has weakened. Our tax dollars to not provide for us -- they have provided for the corporate contractors who want us to remain in Iraq.

As a Christian I do care about you and that is why I want a candidate who cares about us -- not Haliburton, KBR, Blackwater, and the telecoms who want to take our free internet away.

I am a Christian, and I believe Sen. Obama when he says he is a Christian. It is not my place, it is not James Dobson's place, it is not Franklin Graham's place, to not take him at his word. If Sen. Obama is insincere about his faith -- and he knows this -- he will have to answer for that in the future. I know of no person who is a perfect Christian, or perfect anything for that matter.

"When Franklin Graham asked Obama recently how, as a Christian, he could reconcile New Testament claims that salvation was attainable only through Christ with a campaign that embraces pluralism and diversity ..."

Because pluralism and diversity is what America is, for crying out loud! Christians -- myself included, at the top of the list -- say they thank God they are Americans. Well, I've got news for you, my friends -- being an American, like it or not, involves more than just keeping to yourselves in your own groups of like-minded people and shielding yourselves from the rest of the country. You have to accept the fact that there are many different kinds of people with many different kinds of beliefs in America, and those people have just as much right as we Christians have to call themselves Americans.

    Go Barack!

    • Posted By: Hope for America @ 07/14/2008 3:01:30 PM

Actually it is your job as a Christian to not only worry about your own salvation but to help correct and guide-(lovingly, without hypocrisy)-those around you in their walks of faith as well.

So, I ask you, how can you see Obama being for abortion, gay marriage, and coming from a church that most obviously is lacking in true Christian doctrine, and just "take him at his word"?

I recommend reading through Romans, for the Apostle Paul has quite a bit of good messages in there for you, myself, and all of us. =)

      God bless.

Hi Stano - You seem exceptionally smart. So I ask you this question:

In the past eight years - where have our hard earned tax dollars gone? To no-bid contracts in Iraq? Perhaps Haliburton who abandoned us to put their headquarters offshore - so they wouldn't pay taxes back to us?

Are you aware that Phil Gramm (Enron/mortgage crisis) has been McCain's economic advisor? Phil Gramm, a gazillionair, called us regular Amercans a bunch of whiners.

You seem like a regular American...like me. I personally do not want to continue paying my hard earned tax dollars to keep these greedy corporations (whom McCain is in bed with) afloat -- while we all drown.

Perhaps you might want to take a moment and think about it. Who is on our side?

    • Posted By: Hope for America @ 07/14/2008 2:57:02 PM

"Hi mj, you seem exceptionally smart"

As far as I have seen all you have done in this thread is tried to discredit anyone and everyone who has a differing viewpoint than yours with a sarcastically smart attitude, and sit here asking questions of everyone, as if they have to prove their opinions on Obama to you by what they know or think about McCain. They are 2 different people, the topic of discussion here is Obama's faith, and proving that he is no Christian. McCain has nothing to do with Obama's faith, so how bout I ask you a questioni?

"mj, you seem very smart, educated on McCain.... but can you tell me, what McCain's past has to do with Obama being a Christian or not?"

      Thanks.

Golly-This story is so spiritual it just makes me want to die and go to heaven.Wait I know how Obama can avoid raising taxes and balance the budget. He can feed everyone in the country by changing water into wine and mutiplying the fishes.Come to think of it if he can change water to wine he can also change water into gasoline and also sove the energy cisis and make gasoline free to everyone.

You have been living in the land of milk and honey now for some time and guess what, you haven't been paying your fair share. In order to live the life we do, in this country, takes money. And guess what, all the rest of these idiots have just been borrowing it so they could look good and get out of office with theirs. It does take taxes and it is going to get a whole hell of a lot rougher before it gets better. If you can afford to pay $500 for some worhless phone that does everything but eat, you can afford to pay some taxes so your kids don't end up as a third world country. Wake up, we have been sold down the drain by the last idiot, if we don't pull ourselves out of this mess and realy addres our problems, you can kiss everything goodbye.

What an interesting and twisted path Obama took on his route to Christianity. How disturbing that it finally lead him to Reverend Wright in whose odd embrace he remained for 20 years. That long stop along the road has yet to be explained and casts doubt on the authenticity of Obama's religious experience because it is so astounding in the vacuum he has created.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 07/14/2008 2:31:38 PM

Acutally Obama's lack of experience, arrogance, hubris, and lack of responsibility are far more concerning that his religion

Wonder why this article left out his use of cocaine in High School and his first years of college. He became a hermit because he was trying to get clean. Read his book again.

BTW, has he actually been able to quite smoking, or is he still addicted to those patches? Seems to be an addictive personality. Addicted to cocaine, addicted to nicotine, addicted to power.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 07/14/2008 12:41:23 PM

His drug use is concerning. One must pause before voting for a president who was "on the road to becoming a junkie"

      • Posted By: summer4077 @ 07/14/2008 2:17:37 PM

I never read that Bush referred to himself as going on "the road to becoming a junkie." On the other hand, Bush is probably the worst president we have ever had, so your remark would further my concern

Someone please tell me why they like McCain. I have not received one - not one answer.

McCain left his disabled wife and 3 kids for a much younger, richer beer heiress. He's been a kept man ever since. Haliburton, KBR, Blackwater, and big oil will do everything in their power to put him in office - because he will keep us in Iraq. He enjoys being kept....and the rest of us according to his economic advisor, Phil Gramm, are whiners.

Also on McCain and Cindy: Cindy has sometimes likened herself to a single mother ... she has often been far away from her husband during difficult moments, including two of three miscarriages she suffered ... her husband did not notice when she became addicted to painkillers ... he was on the other side of the country when she suffered a stroke ... On her own, she learned to walk again. ..

I REALLY WANT TO KNOW -- For what reason do you like John McCain - I have put this quesition our there for hours and I have not received one - not one answer.

    • Posted By: soggy @ 07/14/2008 11:43:47 AM

John McCain is not the perfect candidate. I think your observations about his previous wife are small minded. I dont have any idea what caused the breakup of his family but either do you. To assume that he was responsible is politically expedient but pure speculation. As for why I might vote for him...he spent five years in one of the worst prisoner of war camps ever concieved of. He was offered several opportunities to leave but refused to do so until every American in that hole was allowed to go home as well. They offered him preferential treatment if he would speak out against his country and beat him when he would not. He was starved, beaten and had his legs broken but would not turn on his country or leave his fellow Americans behind. He offered to take beating in the stead of other, weaker men so that they might survive. That is a bit different than Obama wouldnt you say. He sits in a pew for twenty years listening to his country being degraded and cursed. Two very diffenent men with two different ideas of their country. I think McCain's is closer to how I feel about the USA. I also think I would rather have a president who loves his country and is willing to sacrifice for it and for its citizens.

      • Posted By: RCgirl @ 07/14/2008 2:25:07 PM

Thank you for your comments on McCain's character. I cannot fathom why anyone would even consider voting for Obama! My son is a Marine and scheduled to go to Iraq or Afganistan in January 2009. Am I afraid for him? Yes! But we both believe in and love this great country we live in! Could you imagine Michele Obama as first lady? Especially if she was the one who encouraged her husband to attend Trinity Church! Do we really want a woman who's anti-white and anti-American representing this country? She has a nasty disposition and a very unpleasant personality---Is this the kind of First Lady we want representing our country? Yes, McCain's wife is rich, but she also has the right decorum and temperment to be a good first lady!

At this point, I don't even think that Obama knows what his true faith is. He is way too wishy-washy and flip-flops entirely too much! All he can do is give pretty speeches, but he totally lack substance of any kind. I cannot believe the number of people who have fallen for him! It almost reminds me of cult worship! "We're going to follow and believe him, even though he has no clue how to put his "CHANGE" into action! All Obama is, is hot air---he won't commit either way to anything, that way he cannot be labeled as a liar. Newsweek, your article was just like Obama---completetly lacking in substance and totally biased. You're supposed to remain nuteral, and you're not! Bad form!

True that Mccain does not have charm. It just shows that we the voters are in trouble. We don't have good candidate. The one likeable candidate was stabbed in the back by her own party. Now she has to pander for money.

Hi armymom -- I asked a very simple question on Christianity - and you seem to be an expert on Christianity --

On what Christian path was McCain taking when he abandoned his disabled wife and 3 kids for a younger, richer beer heiress and then abandoned her when she had a stroke...leaving her to learn to walk on her own.

    Could you please answer me?

  • Posted By: datzamore@aol.com @ 07/14/2008 12:22:52 AM

What does Obama believe in? Here's a hint: Around most of America, east coast, west coast and midwest....Obama is being viewed as a phony. He is the most extreme left wing candidate we have ever had to this point....but with a nice smile. It's the connections he has that reveal his "beliefs".

Obama's "close 20 year relationship" with a bigot named Reverand Wright is being discussed at the water cooler by Americans every day more and more. And that reverand's "close relationship" with one of America's biggest racists, Louis Farrakhan, who was given a lifetime achievement award by Obama's church. (hello?). Birds of a Feather, folks.. Most of America is starting to figure it out. Especially Hillary fans and Jewish voters.

Remember, this is the same nation that re-elected a very unpopular George Bush only 3 1/2 years ago during an unpopular war. Also remember that Kerry led Bush 51%-44% in July....and he lost. And now....at only 46%-44%....the Obama Fever Gap is wearing off fast.
    - John McCain will win this election.

    • Posted By: summer4077 @ 07/14/2008 9:10:26 AM

Also remember that Bush falsely won the first election, and the second one is widely contested, as well. Obama still enjoys a majority lead, so I'm not sure from where you're idea that most Americans don't like him comes. If McCain wins this election, it will be another rigged one, plain and simple. I know vastly more people who support Obama than Bush. However, this could be because I live in an area with a high percentage of educated people...typically, the more educated the person, the more they tend to vote Democratic.

      • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 07/14/2008 1:21:06 PM

No - the more educated the person, the more they look at the best interest in the country and vote that way. It is an ill informed, uneducated, emotionally driven person who votes for someone based on party affiliation. As for "Voting Democrat", from my observation, this has not always been the best route for an "educated person" to go. A great deal of false and empty promises with attempts to actually give government a largeer control of our lives. NOPE!

        • Posted By: summer4077 @ 07/14/2008 2:23:39 PM

I'm merely stating statistics I've seen, which have been presented during the past couple elections. Rural areas tend to vote more Republican than urban, and more educated people tend to vote more Democratic. This isn't to say that I, a city girl with a masters, have not voted Republican, because I have. Like you, I research my candidates before making a decision. I agree that some people swear blind allegiance to a party, throwing out words like Liberal and Neocon as insults, without stopping to really research the candidate. Really, we should get rid of the bipartisan system altogether.

Finally I am getting some answers - thank you. At least we know that McCain is now going to church. That is a much better image for him at this point than......abandoning his disabled wife and 3 kids to take up with a much younger, richer beer heiress. No that's not perfect - and you can believe it - I don't want him taking care of me as an American.

Maybe you could explain why it's on our behalf that he has now taken up with the big international corporate powers: Haliburton, KBR, Big Oil, Blackwater, and telecoms....

This is my question for you now -- because I really want to know why its smart for us regular Americans to take up with a man - who's taken up with people like Phil Gramm (Enron/mortgage crisis guy) who called all of Americans a bunch of whiners.

Somebody answer - why that is good for us. Thank you.

    • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 07/14/2008 12:29:33 PM

Truth actually hurts. America has become a nation of whinners. We want everything without responsibility.

In response to your other issues, what does financial investment have to do with anything? You talk about these big corporations as if they were satan themselves. The American way has been to pursue your own path, capitalism has been key to our success. You cry out about "Big Oil", but Big Government has done more to damage us than anything else. If it weren't for "Big Oil" you and I would be walking or driving bikes. At least the companies you condemn provide a public service in our lives. What does our government do other than take money from us in taxes?

      • Posted By: News and Notes @ 07/14/2008 12:36:54 PM

There are tens of millions of Americans who are legitimately suffering becuase of this latest economic downturn. They are not whining. They are stating the truth. Many elitist judgemental snobs are suffering minimally from this dowturn, so they judge other people based on their own circumstances. People are hurting. To call it whining is dismissive.

I'm sorry but the people in this country have a debt to pay and they have been shirking their duty for some time now. Really hurts like hell when the chickens come home to roost, doesn't it.

We have known for over thirty years that this was coming but we stuck our heads in the sand and continued on, hoping it would pass us by and get the next group of unsuspecting citizens. Well guess what, it's here.

How smart is it to believe a snake oil salesman who has no accomplishments to his name? The only one who has actually tried to change Congress, and succeeded , is John McCain. He's brought more transparency to earmarks than anyone.

Obama, on the other hand, has requested earmarks for his political supporters, like Emil Jones, Jr. (who got him elected to the senate) and Excelon, whose president has contributed heavily to Obama's campaign, and even his own wife, by asking for millions in government funds for her employer.

  • Posted By: mj it @ 07/14/2008 1:39:56 PM

    Hi Retired Marine--

Yep - It's important for us an American family to know who our leader is in bed with. McCain who abandoned his disabled wife and 3 kids for a younger, richer beer heiress...and then abandoned her in her time of need - will do to us what he did to them.

If we know that McCain is in bed with the big international corporations (Telecoms - who want to take our free internet away, Haliburton - who abandoned us to put its headquarters overseas, Blackwater, KBR etc...) how could we trust him?

McCain keeps swapping up for the next richer relationship - and the big corporations will do everything in their power to get him into office and keep him there -- they can trust him. He's used to being a kept man.

  • Posted By: mj it @ 07/14/2008 12:31:12 PM

I believe what a leader does to his famly - he will do to us. McCain abandoned his disabled wife and 3 kids to start up an affair with a younger, richer beer heiress. Then he abandoned her when she had a stroke - leaving her to learn to walk on her own.

McCain abandoned his values when he got into bed with the big international corporations. Haliburton - who moved their headquarters abroad - so they wouldn't have to pay as much taxes back to the U.S. , Blackwater, KBR, Big Oil and the Telecoms.

Do we as an American family want to be in the care of a man who abandons us for corporations who do not care about America anymore - because they have gone international? I would prefer having a leader who cares about us - like he does his family.

      • Posted By: the_shelton @ 07/14/2008 1:12:56 PM

Bush is a bible thumping idiot who got the job because too many Americans set around on their a**es and failed to participate in any process that might enlighten them to the topics and policies of this world. As long as you kind of people are running around, we might as well tighten up the seat belts because we are in for one hell of a bumpy ride. • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 07/14/2008 12:55:39 PM

Oh, so you want a story about what Obama would do as president? According to the LA Times, even though Illinois ethics disclosure forms are designed to reveal possible financial conflicts by lawmakers, on disclosure forms for 2001 and 2002, Obama did not specify that a single company owned by Blackwell (EKI) provided him with the bulk of the private-sector compensation he received. Instead, as was his custom, he attached a multi-page list of all the law firm's clients, which included EKI among hundreds. Illinois law does not require more specific disclosure.

Stanley Brand, a Washington lawyer who counsels members of Congress and others on ethics rules, said he would have advised a lawmaker in Obama's circumstances to separately disclose such a singularly important client and not simply include it on a list of hundreds of firm clients, even if the law does not explicitly require it. "I would say you should disclose that to protect and insulate yourself against the charge that you are concealing it," Brand said.

Obama's tax returns show that he made no money from his law practice in 2000, the year of his unsuccessful run for a congressional seat. But that changed in 2001, when Obama reported $98,158 income for providing legal services. Of that, $80,000 was from Blackwell's company.

In 2002, the state senator reported $34,491 from legal services and speeches. Of that, $32,000 came from the EKI legal assignment, which ended in April 2002 by mutual agreement, as Obama ceased the practice of law and looked ahead to the possibility of running for the U.S. Senate. .

Obama's spokesman said that listing all clients was appropriate and that doing so allowed the public to see any and all potential conflicts for Obama and his law firm colleagues. "He was especially mindful of this responsibility as a leader of ethics reform," said Gibbs, his chief campaign spokesman.

A few months after receiving his final payment from Blackwell's company, EKI, Obama sent a request on state Senate letterhead urging Illinois officials to provide a $50,000 tourism promotion grant to another Blackwell company, Killerspin.

Though Obama's formal efforts consisted of writing a letter and a proclamation, the nitty-gritty of obtaining state grants fell to a former state Senate and campaign aide to Obama, Dan Shomon.

Shomon, working part time for Obama's campaign and for Killerspin, helped prepare Killerspin's initial grant application in 2002. Still working part time with Obama, Shomon helped Killerspin secure a $200,000 grant for its 2003 tournament and a $100,000 grant for its 2004 tournament.

Nice return on Blackwell's "investment" in Obama. So much for Obama's sense of ethics and transparency.

I don't care what self-serving words he has spoken. I've seen too many campaign promises *** the moment the oath of office is given. Don't listen to what he says, check out what he's done while in office. Check out his voting record. Especially the 136 times he's voted present (not even enough guts to take a stand on an issue). That dodge won't work with the North Korean or Iranian leadership.

He voted present while in the Illinois state senate. The U.S. senate does not allow for a vote of present.

RepubliCult = A nut case republican who is pretty sure that Obama is Muslim because of his name. Who goes on blogs to post false remarks hating Obama who never holds the same standards to McCain.
