Both McCAIN and OBAMA would be horrible for our country. We need a president who is 110% CHRISTIAN.

Separation of Church and State. Did you miss that somewhere in your studies of the the American Constitution? We could have an Ayatollah like the Iranians do, would that make you happy. If 2000 years of Christianity hasn't changed this world by now, I don't hold a lot of hope for it. Seems like most of the teachings are only practiced for about one hour on Sunday and then it back to the same of two faced, lieing, cheating ways of the world.
I don't give a damn whether someone is whatever religion as long as they are qualified to run this country and really care about where we are going. Take your religion and bible thumping and throw it away along with Mr George W. Let's get on to something that matters. What to do with this country before it goes totally down the drain.
Oh - forgot pearsoncrz -- here's some info on McCain and the telecoms. He's big on being in bed with their lobbyists - you know - the guy who abandoned his disabled wife and 3 kids for a young, richer beer heiress, whom he also abandoned in her time of need...
BTW - this has a lot to do with you and me...and keeping the internet free - you might want to pay attention to the following:
Recent reports on McCain's relationship to telecom lobbying focus on his noted opposition to "net neutrality" efforts aimed at preventing broadband companies using their ownership of internet "pipes" to discriminate between content providers based on profitability. At present, the internet is a "neutral" playing field with free and equal access to all, and any censorship or "gatekeeping" by carriers strictly prohibited. On grounds of "free competition," however, McCain has supported the efforts of broadband carriers such as Comcast, AT&T, and Verizon at gaining congressional permission to control access to websites on a two-tiered basis consisting of a fee-based "fast track" for more profitable websites and a "slow track" for sites whose owners can't afford the fee. In effect, carriers would be permitted to replace our current open internet with a fee-based caste system, and even to block access to competitors' websites.
Two politicians are running for the presidency. As politicians they are dependent upon the media to give a fair account of their positions and who it is they are. As politicians they embellish their accomplishments and who they are while having surrogates running down their opponent- the media shouldn't join in this pursuit, but they do. FOX is the mouthpiece of the right and MSNBC the mouthpiece of the left.
Obama's faith is his own, just as McCain's is. Their faith journey is their own as well.
To make their faith such an issue is to turn their faith into just another thing that is embellished and run down by political hacks within the campaigns and in the media.
They are both men of faith, now how about the economy, health care, NAFTA, Iraq, and all the other issues always put on the back burner and then never really resolved in the gridlock of continous campaigning that defines what happens in Washington DC.
I couldn't have said it better myself. Elections should not be decided based on religion. Bush was supposed to be a religious man and pandered to the those groups. Before he was elected, all I heard is that he stands for morals. So many people voted on him based on this and look how that has turned out for our country. Come on people ....WAKE UP!
Sen. Obama has been forth-right and honest about his feelings on faith. I fail to understand those on this site who seem to demand so much proof from Sen. Obama and not a peep out of any of you as to where Sen. McCain stands on these same subjects. One of these two men will be the next president. That person will bring their life experience to the job. I have found nothing in Sen. Obama's life that would cause me to have any concern about his desire to see our country move forward in a positive way. It is those who buy into false rumors and hysterical unnuendo who make wrong judgements about Obama. I believe he is a good and honest man who is intelligent and forward thinking. He will do great things for our country but he along with his supporters understand that it will not be easy and that no one can do it all.
mj, on the question of fiscal responsiblity, you have no grounds to tie McCain and Bush together. McCain has been fighting for transparency in Congress for years, openly opposing earmarks, and making sure the taxpayers knew where their money was going, where all the pork was being sent.
Obama, on the other hand, requested millions to benefit his friends, major contributors, and even his wife.
Look at what they have done before you post such silliness.
Hi Retired Marine - you seem like a smart fella -
So maybe you could answer me this...why do my hard earned tax dollars go to no-bid contractors like Haliburton (who put their headquarters offshore so they wouldn't have to pay my heard earned tax dollars back to our country.) Why are my hard earned tax dollars going to KBR, BLACKWATER (who are accountable to no one) and Big Oil.
Personally I'd rather pay my hard earned tax dollars to rebuild the infrastructure in America, or to pay for the national guard (to be kept on our soil,) or for education (you know - we're becoming kinda dumb compared to the rest of the world.)
Bush and then McCain will spend our hard earned tax dollar on no-bid contractors like Haliburton, KBR, Blackwater and put through policies that help Big Oil -- and these companies are not our friends. They make a lot of money by being at war. And McCain will keep us at war - to help his corporate friends.
Now you as a retired marine - might enjoy being at unnecessary wars - but I would prefer we defend ourselves from Al Qaeda types who operate or receive money from places like Saudi Arabia or Pakistan. Bush/McCain do not want to touch these countries - because they are in bed with them.
Maybe you could answer that for me.
I think you should just change the title of your publication to "Obamaweek". Can you become any more ridiculous with the amount of coverage you give this man. Why don't you spend sometime actually investigating him as opposed to writing articles based on hypotheticals and assumptions... Also, the choice of pictures you utilize are even more ridiculous. I'm waiting for the one where he's walking on water....
Walking on water? Only Jesus did that. I could see them doing a cartoon with Obama as the anti-Christ though!
Hi Idatzamore - you seem to know everything. So why don't we talk about McCain. Why would an upstanding guy like McCain leave his disabled wife (a woman who waited 5 years for him while he was a POW) and 3 kids for a young beer heiress, whom he started an affair with the night he met her?
He's been a kept man ever since. He doesn't need to worry about money, like the rest of us. Neither does his friend Bush - his buddies will take care of him -- you know, (Haliburton, the big oil companies and Blackwater.) They'll take care of McCain too -- because they'll do everything in their power to make sure he gets in. That's a lot of power -- think about it. We've been paying our tax dollars to privatized armies and contractors (who aren't accountable to anybody.) They will be sure to get McCain in - because they can trust McCain will keep the war running.
So you be sure to vote for McCain and keep our tax dollars going to Halliburton, KBR and Blackwater. That way we all end up like the victims of Katrina....
You post the same rhetoric over and over... Do you even have an idea what these companies that you mention actually do? Or the support they provide for our military overseas - or do you even care? These companies you list are no different than any other companies that receive government contracts. They are hired for support features they provide. Rather than sounding so self absorbed in your own little perfect world, please join us in the real one. Companies are definitely needed to support our troops. Rather than blast away at these organizations that are actually helping, why not blast at our elected government officials who can give themselves a raise on our taxpayer dime, who get outrageous benefits for life for a short time service, etc... Blast out at big government which takes much of our tax dollars but gives little to nothing back in return.

"I'd say we probably went two or three times a month. When we had Malia, our first child, we went less frequently...But then I started campaigning for the United States Senate, and at that point I was in church every Sunday, maybe two, three churches a Sunday, but they weren't Trinity, BECAUSE THAT WAS ONE OF THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAYS FOR US TO CAMPAIGN and reach out to people"
Well, that says it all for me. Religion is nothing more than a political tool for Obama, a way to reach people. That's pretty much what he said in the faith forum too. He didn't talk about his faith, he talked about the importance of talking about faith for politicians.
O .. more things gonna come after the conventions. I hope John continues in OK health.
It would be better if they came out before the convention.
I absolutely believe Barak Obama is an excellent representative of many of US citizens today. That is to say that he represents someone who lacks the ability or the inner strength to take a FIRM stance on his real beliefs; he has the new found faith of this generation called "wishy-washy" which only requires that say the words "oh, sure, I accept everybody no matter what they believe" (which is a stark contrast to the real Christian faith of love all people, but know the Word of God so that He may guide you in all actions including thought); he knows how to turn on his "long-time friends" and says he never really knew them (Rev. Wright) this sounds a lot like another character from the Bible that turned his back on Christ; he takes no resopnsiblity for bad decisions and feigns surprise when he is confronted with the behavior/background of his close associates. It simply amazes me that so many Americans sufering from a social guilt so willingly back this man that does not even have the backbone to stand up for what he truly believes and takes responsibility for his own actions. But like I said, he represents what is so true of what a large part of our society has sadly become. A weak nation that has not the power of numbers of people who are truly willing to say anything definite - whether it is right or wrong! I would rather vote for someone who completely goes against my faith, but is at least grounded and has the ability to stand strong for their true beliefs without playing to the crowd. By the way, that is not faith - that is called politics!
Representative, yes. . . . . President - NO!!!!
Bullseye!
MANY of you sound just like those who want a THEOCRACY! GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEAD, CHRISTIANS........MILLIONS OF AMERICANS DO NOT BELIEVE IN YOUR GOD OR YOUR BRAND OF DO'S AND DON'TS. You don't want an abortion, then don't have one! You don't think gays have rights too? STOP TRYING TO FORCE YOUR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS ON EVERYBODY!
John 3:16
Ignorance do destroy all. Choosing to live ungodly is your business but don't impose those beliefs and immoral standards onto those ( in our homes, schools, work, etc..) who want to live a morally balanced life.
Golly-This article just wants to make me die and go to heaven.Wait a minute I know how Obama can not raise taxes and balance the budget. He can feed everyone by changing water into wine and multiplying the fishes.
If the authors of this piece inteded to present Obama in a good light, thet've done so to me, conservative, to some degree by merely mentioning that He's read Graham Greene. Having read Greene, Obama can't be all bad.
Who cares about obama's faith. There's suppose to be a seperation of church and state in this country. You can have good strong moral values without religion. We need to stop talking religion and talk on more important issues like economy, war.....
You are taking the meaning of "separation and church " out of context. Look up what it really means!
It is nice to know about Mr. Obama's spiritual life. But it's still beyond me to see some people are going to vote based on the candidates' religious views. Look at President Bush, a self-proclaimed born-again Christian. He did not turn out to be a good president for America. We are choosing a president and not a pope. Let's choose our president, a politician, with secular standards.
Please tell us how you come to the conclusion Barack Sr was an atheist. He was born a Muslim, gave his son a Muslim name, and was buried a Muslim. What are your sources to slander this man as an atheist?
The source of this is from Sen. Barack Obama. He states in one of his books that his father abandoned Islam and became an athiest.
That is why it is called a "cover" "story"!!!.
Actually, if you look at the top of the second page, the fact that he was an atheist was stated by Obama in his book. Guess that gives them the right.
do we really believe in everything the over rated Media people write?
Soggy,
I have to respectfully disagree with the spirit of your comments about John McCain. I won't denigrate his service and god knows he went through hell in that POW camp, but he took part in several propaganda videos regarding the war during his detention. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0608/11429.html
He did speak out against his country and in his own words, "Every man has his breaking point. I had reached mine." Please make sure you research your claims fully before presenting them.
What a great piece. Thank you Richard., but that want change the minds of the republicans and all the pundints. The will continue to call OBAMA a muslim. They have to .That is all they have. They can't come out and say they won't vote for a N-----r.Yes that is want upsets them so.A brillant blackman being the answer to
getting us out of this messed that W.Bush has gotten us in. They know they haven't gotten a chance with John Mcsame. This man doesn't know what he is talking about on most occassions. Tell us what is his religious affilations? Does he goes to church, does he even belong to a religious organazion. Why can't he retain the evangelians that the dummy had[W]? The polls show they are running from Mcsame. I don't see him taken to task for leaving his injured first wife, to have an affair with a younger woman, then applyiny for a marriage license before he even divorced his injured first wife. What about his visits with call girls and prositious, what about his affilations with the Keating 5. This man needs to be vetted. But no everyone wants
to vett OBAMA. AND ALL THEY FINE IS A BRILLIANT young man,Beautiful family.Excellent father,Loving father,
and someone who has the ability to fix our country. The right wingers have nothing. Don't be fool people. Remember they gave us George Bush. Don't let the give us the scrappings from the bottom of the barrel.
This is a fine example of why there will always be racism, or accusations of racism in this country. If someone is black, and a white person doesn't like them, the white is then labled a racist. Can't we not like Obama for president merely for the fact that he is inexperienced, he offers hope instead of ideas, has a really lousy voting record in the Senate, and the beat goes on. Nope, according to you, it MUST be because he's black....what a moron.
