The strength of ones faith I believe has no strength until A person questions what they believe or is tested by a trama. Cnn had Obama on for an hour talking about his faith. Obama has spoken and written about his faith. He has a deep belief in God. The path of how we may each reach our God may be different, however we all end up at the same place.

total submission to one true god? Vow

What nonsense dribble! Religion, is basically a cult and is responsible for more destruction than any other pursuit. It is a trap that isolates the mind from reality! A nation needs a pragmatist for a leader not one whose mind is dominated by religious harangues.

    • Posted By: Dedwardds@hotmail.com @ 07/14/2008 10:28:52 AM

Boy, do I agree with that. I find religon to be a bunch of mind-controlling hogwash. Perhaps Obama's search for a religious belief is because he probablly just doesn't believe. I know that feeling.

      • Posted By: emmarcee @ 07/14/2008 10:42:49 AM

well he needs to get those religious votes! Can't you see? This is politics in its lowest form.

        • Posted By: Dedwardds@hotmail.com @ 07/14/2008 10:55:28 AM

Of course, that is why I say I can say whatever I want against religion but he cannot. It would be refreshing to hear a candidate just say he doesn't believe and let's get on with it.

O 's church experience was just a platform for his political activity. It is clear as day. Newsweek is trying to get the "white votes' out. But doing so just hits the bee hive. His dad so called atheist was a muslim by mind. He considered marrying multiple times normal for a man. (2 times in USA in couple of years). Obama white washes him in Audacity of hope which is a treatise written to help him in a national role, above the local politics (for which he came up with " My Fathers dream" to show his African ancestry. He flip flops all the time.

No body cares if he has faith in Jesus. But why do you pander for the Christian vote? Does it have to with the narrowing gap in the polls?

  • Posted By: jopie12 @ 07/14/2008 10:47:22 AM

How can someone say they believe in something and then say, ???I leave open the possibility that I???m entirely wrong.???? Where does faith come in? How can I vote for someone that is so wishy-washy and unable to stand for what he or she believes?

  • Posted By: MR_A @ 07/14/2008 10:47:01 AM

What is Mc Cains's religion? What does he believe? Senator Obama's religious faith is fair game but so is Senator Mc Cain's. But I have only seen the media focus on Senator Obama. Let's have a fair debate and put the issue to bed.

Obama's book is quoted extensively as "evidence" of Obama's religious upbringing? What kind of journalism is that? I didn't see it mentioned anywhere that Obama at times accompanied his step father to the mosque for Friday prayers...is that not significant to this story? I realize Newsweek really really wants Obama to get elected and everything, but come on...at lease PRETEND to be objective journalists!

    Hye

I agree with you. It is like going and asking the devil himself about his faith. "o yes I do fear god!"

OBAMA SAYS "I'm on my own faith journey and I'm searching," he says. "I leave open the possibility that I'm entirely wrong." THIS BEGS THE QUESTION "HOW DEEP IS HIS FAITH IN CHRIST?"

tygirl- I'd rather have an experienced smart man than a "brilliant young man". And i'm sorry, this race stuff is getting really old. Really, really old. Why is it that Obama supporters always have to bring it up. Republicans talk about his inexperience, his flip flopping, his supporters, and his policies. And yet, without fail, there are always a few democrats who immediately pull the race card. Ironic that the only place I've ever seen the word N----r is on a democratic post. You're right tho, all of our issues stem from the fact that his skin is a few shades darker than ours. This victimhood, race-calling is just hampering progress on real talks about real issues.

Oh and btw, though it's stupid to bring up these percentages, your apparent lack of understanding could be helped by the knowledge that Obama is only 6.35% black. He's more white and arab than black. So, tygirl, i'm not voting for a whiteblackarabyellowpurplemagenta man.

We KNOW his faith. He hates WHITEY. Espescially, RICH WHITE PEOPLE. Jesus was Black, the Devil was White, and there are ice people, and whatever Farakahn calls Black People. We KNOW that he doesn't hold Jesus' words in very high esteem. Words like,'Men will know you by the company you keep'. His speed dial is full of White Hating, Jew Hating, and AMERICA Hating LUNATICS. He doesn't think ANYTHING of ;'Suffer the little children to come unto ME'. This is a guy who VOTED AGAINST funds for giving medical attention to INFANTS who had the AUDACITY to survive an ABORTION attempt. We know that he WORSHIPS MAMMON. After all, he and his ANGRY wife ARE millionares. And we KNOW that he sees the folks that "CLING TO RELIGION" as not being very sophisticated. So my question is: What's the REAL purpose of this STUPID STORY?

To shed light on the darkness that is in the hearts and minds of folks like you...............which may or may not be the intention of the writer, but whatever gets the job done.................

Someone please tell me why they like McCain. I have not received one - not one answer.

McCain left his disabled wife and 3 kids for a much younger, richer beer heiress. He's been a kept man ever since. Haliburton, KBR, Blackwater, and big oil will do everything in their power to put him in office - because he will keep us in Iraq. He enjoys being kept....and the rest of us according to his economic advisor, Phil Gramm, are whiners.

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 07/14/2008 10:24:19 AM

#1 reason to like McCain is, that he is.......................

      NOBAMA!!!

Don't forget, he also abandoned Cindy after she had a stroke...leaving her to learn to walk again by herself. What kind of upstanding man abandons both wives at their time of need? Yeah, he's a really great guy. The ONLY thing that man has ever used is his years as a POW. Ok. We get it. You were a POW. What else do you bring to the table?

Do you have any idea the amount of support and popularity Obama would lose if he talked about his involvement (prior or current) with Islam, or if he hadn't immediately denounced Rev Wright and his views? In all of his interviews and exposes Obama says what the voting public wants to hear, much like all candidates do when it comes to policies. While I do not think his religion is a reason to vote against or for him, I do think it is very unsettling to see a candidate shroud himself in so much ambiguity. He grew up in Islam, both from his ancestry in Kenya and schooling in Indonesia. His father and cousin were/are Islamic militants. In addition, he became a member of Rev Wright's church TWENTY years ago, at the behest of his wife. To belong to a church run by ONE man and to have that man as your advisor, comment sense dictates that you share at least a significant portion of his views. Does a Muslim attend a synagogue? Would a Christian spend 20 years listening to the sermons and advice of a Satanic priest? Just somethin to think about.

As a sidenote, it is funny that a man with such (reported) Muslim ties and documented Islamic heritage is one of two men running for U.S. president, a nation who's main enemies consist of Islamic terrorist cells and Muslim countries, save North Korea.

Obama's search for a religious belief mirrors my own. The only difference is I have the luxury of saying religion is a bunch of mind-controlling hogwash and he cannot. Also, the bi-racial issue is another added burden for him.

Nice to see Newsweek once again backing up it's canidate of choice. Let's report real news what do you say?

If it looks like a rat, smells like a rat, and sounds like a rat, then its probably a rat.

If I actually cared what Barry's faith was...the last place I would check is Newsweek.
