He spent 20 years under Jeremiah wright and his poison, this should speak for itself. You cannot listen to a person for 20 years and not have his beliefs in your belief. so no matter how he claims to distance hisself rom wright, it is still in his belief. Democratic convention, PLEASE give us someone else to vote for even if its a dead jacka##,

You are absolutely right. If he did not share Reverend Wright's racist opinions he would not have lasted in his church for a day, let alone ~25 years. Can you imagine the people responding to this blog attending the same church, or club? I think not.

      • Posted By: aallagan @ 07/13/2008 4:18:54 PM

I live with my parents for 30 yrs, I do not share a single belief of racism. I've been christian for overy 20 yrs, I do not believe in verything christians believe, and I do not believe that all christians share the same belief either. --that shows that he did not choose to attend church for political reason--

No, that shows that you are probably very shiftless and you need to leave the nest and experience the real world and its real issues.

Since we live in a country with freedom of religion and religious diversity: to me a man that has sought knowledge, understanding, lived a life as a child and young adult that embraced seeking one's own personal religious journey, and still has an open mind to understanding would be ideal. It would not be his religious beliefs per say that mattered, but his ability to recognize without judgement everyone elses religious beliefs.

    George Washington

Much of the Myth of Washington's Alleged "Christianity" came from Mason Weems influential book, "Life of Washington." The story of the cherry tree comes from this book and it has no historical basis. Weems, a Christian minister portrayed Washington as a devout Christian, yet Washington's own diaries show that he rarely attended Church.

Washington revealed almost nothing to indicate his spiritual frame of mind, hardly a mark of a devout Christian. In his thousands of letters, the name of Jesus Christ never appears. He rarely spoke about his religion, but his Freemasonry experience points to a belief in deism. Washington's initiation occurred at the Fredericksburg Lodge on 4 November 1752, later becoming a Master mason in 1799, and remained a freemason until he died.

To the United Baptist Churches in Virginia in May, 1789, Washington said that every man "ought to be protected in worshipping the Deity according to the dictates of his own conscience."

After Washington's Death, Dr. Abercrombie, a friend of his, replied to a Dr. Wilson, who had interrogated him about Washington's religion replied....

    "Sir, Washington was a Deist."

    Thomas Jefferson

Even most Christians do not consider Jefferson a Christian. In many of his letters, he denounced the superstitions of Christianity. He did not believe in spiritual souls, angels or godly miracles. Although Jefferson did Admired the Morality of Jesus, Jefferson did not think Him Divine, nor did he believe in the "Trinity" or the Miracles of Jesus.

In a letter to Peter Carr, 10 August 1787, he wrote, "Question with boldness even the Existence of a God."

Jefferson believed in Materialism, Reason, and Science.

He Never Admitted to any Religion but his own. In a letter to Ezra Stiles Ely, 25 June 1819, he wrote...

"You say you are a Calvinist. I am Not. I am of a sect by Myself, as far as I know."

George Washington was a Christian, wherever you got your info you've been had, like we have been about our founding fathers. About every six years more and more of God is taken out of our history books.

Question: Who is the ONLY country in the Middleeast, to have over 150-200 Nuclear Missiles and Noother ? This same Country tries to imply that they are Threatened by Iran, yet could Blow that Country as well as Other Countries off the face of the Earth !!!

    Answer: Israel

On March 16, 2003, on the eve of the United States invasion of Iraq, Pastor John Hagee took to the pulpit to warn of the coming Antichrist.

In his Sermon, "The Final Dictator," Hagee described the Antichrist as a seductive figure with "fierce features." He will be "a Blasphemer and a Homosexual," the Pastor announced.

Then, Hagee Boomed, "Theres a phrase in Scripture used solely to Identify the Jewish people.

NOTE: It suggests that this Man [The Antichrist] is at least going to be Partially Jewish, as was Adolph Hitler, as was Karl Marx."

This "Fierce" Gay Jew, according to Hagee, would "Slaughter One-Third of the Earths population" and "Make Adolph Hitler look like a Choir Boy."

Hear Pastor Hagees latest Judeophobic, anti-gay rant in this video, created by Bruce Wilson of Talk2Action.org

Exposed here for the first time, Hagees comments identifying the Antichrist as a Partly Jewish Homosexual arrive in the wake of a furor the pastor provoked by describing the Holocaust as an act of God.

Hagees Chilling sermon about the Holocaust prompted Sen. John McCain to reject the preachers support, an unexpected turnabout after McCain spent over a year soliciting his endorsement.

Seperation of Church & State: I`ll be glad, when No Candidate Attends a Church, or Endorsed by Any Church, Mosque, Temple Or Synagouge.

I`ll be Glad when All Candidates say, in Debates `I`m Implementing the Seperation of Church & State Rule` ...

    My Religion is the Constitution.

My Religion, is to the (Republic) For which It Stands.

My Religions are the Senate, Congress, The State, This Nation and Its People.

You Hypocrites can Have Your Religion, I have Enough on My Plate, as You can See.

John McCain has Hagee & Parsley to Denounce, and You give McCain the Pass & Accept Every Excuse, but when its Obama...You all just Pile On.

Seperation of Chuch & State...For ALL Candidates.

    They should not Attend Church...Anywhere.

Because the Pastor-Preacher can say Anything Controversial, at Any Time and this can Only Hurt the Politician, who may or may not have been in the Church, when the Pastor- Preacher says what he says.

All Politicians should use this Election as a sign...Seperate, Church & State...Permamently.

PS: Politicians & Most People don`t Attend Church Religously, Devoutly..Anyway, Just Like YOU...

    HYPOCRITES.

I`d Love to See Your Church and its Members.

Services every Sunday, great ministers, excellent choir, pipe organ with special music regularily, staffed nursery, coffee hour, convinient parking, large print hymnals, special system for hearing impaired, all are welcome.

What better place for hypocrites than church, as a matter of fact liars, cheater, thieves, adulterers, murderers and homosexuals, perverts should hear what the word of God says, and repent of their sins, accept Jesus into their hearts and allow His Holy Spirit to guide their life from that moment on.

    • Posted By: jesusfreek @ 07/13/2008 4:09:01 PM

Separation of church and state was meant to keep the government out of church business not the other way around like we have been led to believe by the so-called experts. Online homework is pretty easy nowadays but it is not always the truth. Look for the source and don't disregard it because you don't like where it came from.

I am a Non-Denominational Christian. I believe in the Holy Bible. I do not believe that Obama is a sincere Christian, I would not consider him a God fearing man. Even though McCain has my vote for the Presidency, I still pray for Mr.Obama and his family. Also, God allows things, either good or bad to happen for a reason, His reasons, not ours. God Bless America.

    • Posted By: mypov123 @ 07/13/2008 2:49:35 PM

You consider yourself a "Christian", and yet you are judging the sincerity of the beliefs of someone you've never even met. Interesting....

One is entitled to know the tree by its fruits...we do not judge, we know him by his actions. A person who votes against life violates Christian principles. That is his fruit, unfortunately.

        • Posted By: mypov123 @ 07/13/2008 4:15:12 PM

No, it is his belief that he does not have the right to impose his own religious beliefs onto others when it comes to legislation, and that's the kind of government I want to have.

Why doesn't this article mention Black Liberation Theology at all? This is the heart of Obama's belief system for the past 20 years. I don't think it gets any clearer than that.

    • Posted By: lee226 @ 07/13/2008 2:11:56 PM

      • Posted By: O Man @ 07/13/2008 4:12:37 PM

Christianity is a Liberation Theology no matter what the color of your skin.
It is intended to free "whomsoever will" from the slavery of sin, and make the world a better place in this present day.
I sincerely encourage anyone who reads this to study the teachings of Jesus for yourself.
That way you won't have to take anyone else's word for it.
Education is a wonderful defense against ignorance and bigotry !

My idea of religion is a firm belief in a superior being that made possible this magnificent world we live in where everything operates in perfect balance. I also believe you can worship anywhere, in a church, in your car, on the bus, train or even in your bathroom. We are all spiritual beings and to grow we should spend quiet time in solace where we turn within and find our strength. Irrespective of which religion you practice, once you are sincere in loving others as you do yourself that is good enough for me and I firmly believe it s also good enough for GOD. When it comes to religion Obama tops McCain. When it comes to morality Obama tops McCain. When it comes to family life and faithfulness to your spouse Obama tops McCain. When it comes down to sincerity and honesty again Obama tops McCain! When you consider technology, the economy and money management Obama tops McCain by far, therefore when it comes to who would be a better president there is no doubt that Obama tops McCain.

Personally,I support Obama not only because I believe he is a good person and will make an excellent president,he is honest. As far as the church he was in for 20 years, how does anyone know how the teachings in his church really were for the 20 years unless YOU yourself also attended for the 20 years.I don't care what the media says.I care what Obama and those who personally know him say.If you listen only to the media, you will only be misled and confused for your efforts in your electoral decision.Anyhow:Godspeed to Obama

Black Liberation Theology. 20 years of it. Is founded in MARXISM and focused on Blacks inheriting earth from the Whites for previous misdeeds. Do you even know who Engles is/was? Please study your history and knowledge of religious practices before spouting "populist" rhetoric. OBAMA IS A MARXIST WHO SHARED A LARGE AMOUNT OF TIME OUTSIDE THECHURCH WITH REV. WRIGHT a unrepentent bigot and marxist. Equality at the Expense of Liberty is Communism. Careful what you wish for.

Why does it affect you so much as to what the mans' ,middle name is? did you give yourself a name? and by the way when it is heard that a name makes a man. It is rather petty that persons who utilize this medium only do so with the intention of critizing and belittling others. I know that there are others more things more important that can be discussed. i have a middle name and everyday I question why I was given that name, however, I can either buy another or choose to live with what I've got; so give the man a break-by the what does your name stand for-or what is it?

I'm an evangelical and Iam not a consdervitist but a cristian who strives to be like Christ who was actually the most liberal person that ever lived. the flip flop and hesitation to commit to anything is worrisome and I am still a supporter of Hillery Clinton. she is much more decisive and has the experience Obama lacks. I will do every thing I can to get a grassroots campaign for Hillery. Its not over.

  • Posted By: swampcreature @ 07/13/2008 4:05:29 PM

Obama is a child of the 1960's, when all major churches started overhauls and left many faithful believers in the lurch. Having multiple religions to fall back on in his journey through life is I believe a good thing. Understanding and accepting others beliefs makes for a more well rounded and wiser person, than someone who blindly follows a given set of rules, right or wrong.

"Finding his Faith" I am so glad to be an American, and one of the reasons is our right to seek, study and question our faith as we go along in our individual lives. Our lives begin and end alone.it is very normal that we can do this and grow in strength in our faith . Some will follow a suicidal faith ,some a perversion and some Christianity, but we have come to have deep friends who have other beliefs and we love them. I am not afraid to trust Obama ,he is sincere and is very American .Try judgeing him by his devotion to his country. All of us have been born and listen, does it mean we can no longer help or adopt a child and expect ,him or her to be treated normally being raised in the USA. ? I have relatives and friends who want to adopt forign children and bblack children,so what? Who are you really ,maybe not American! Obamas's O.K. So is Clinton! Don' be so afraid of good people!.

    • Posted By: Galasso @ 07/13/2008 4:05:54 PM

There is nothing to suggest that Obama is not a good person. There is simply not enough information about him to form an opinion about him. Most of his ardent followers are estatic about his candidacy because they have problems with Prez Bush. Some are young people whose hormones are flooding the underdeveloped parts of their brains that house experience and judgment. Others because he is black - pure and simple. Obama has a pretty clean slate other than his association with some very unsavory characters and the tragedy of his religious quest ending up in Wright's church. If he was some intellectually introspective and thoughtful about his religious yearning - why in the world would he pick a pastor who thinks that the USG invented aids to kill black people?

    • Posted By: thefurnacedude @ 07/13/2008 2:40:14 PM

We are not afraid of good people. We are afraid of the judgement of "good people". Associations with unrepentant terrorist William Ayers, Lunatic pastor Reverend Wright, Slumlord Tony Rezko. Obama has a extremely thin resume. He has been running for President almost as soon as he joined the Senate. Name a piece of legislation that he drafted and pushed through the Senate. That is how he is to be judged. Unfortunately, he hasn't been working on legislating, he has been campaigning for two years. The people of Illinois have not been properly served by this man.

  • Posted By: Hillister @ 07/13/2008 4:04:11 PM
