A coalition of military groups is planning a nationally televised town-hall-style meeting with the presidential candidates near Fort Hood, Tex., the largest active-duty military installation in the country. But so far, only Senator John McCain of Arizona, the presumptive Republican nominee, has agreed to attend.

CBS has agreed to broadcast the meeting live from 9 to 11 p.m. Eastern time on Monday, Aug. 11. The candidates would face questions directly from an audience of 6,000 people, made up of veterans, service members and military families from the base.

McCain Leaks Details Of Obama's Iraq Trip

"Republican presidential candidate John McCain said on Friday that his Democratic opponent, Barack Obama, is likely to be in Iraq over the weekend."

"The Obama campaign has tried to cloak the Illinois senator's trip in some measure of secrecy for security reasons. The White House, State Department and Pentagon do not announce senior officials' visits to Iraq in advance."

Whether this was puposely done, or a flash of senility, McCain is not fit, emotionally or mentally, to run this nation. It doesn't take a genius to understand that revealing the nature of a candidate's international itinerary is a threat to national security. The fact that our highest security organizations do not announce the visitation plans of candidates, is an obvious sign of protection.

For a man who touts his political experience, McCain is truly a disappointment.

Barack Obama???s advisers insist his coming trip abroad is not a campaign swing. Even so, the high-profile journey has all the trappings of a rock-star tour.

The Illinois senator???s trip to Europe and the Middle East has generated so much interest that all three TV network news anchors are planning to accompany the candidate.

Foreign media have reported daily on the impending visit. And the campaign revealed Friday that Obama intends to meet with top U.S. allies.

When John McCain made a similar trip overseas in March, he was accompanied by a few dozen members of the U.S. media. No network anchors made the journey. Granted, it was his eighth visit to Iraq, but it was his first since clinching the GOP nomination, which he had done just days earlier.

This time, the traveling press could dwarf McCain???s entourage. In terms of media frenzies, it???s the difference between a flea circus and the Big Top.

Great comparison!!! It's great that an American candidate can ignite global interest the way Obama does.

I do not think that Obama's experience is a uniquely American tale. What does this mean? Why is it uniquely American? What a ridiculous comment.

I haven't decided if I am voting for Obama or not. But, I am disturbed by Newsweek's lack of objectivity. The cover makes Obama look like a prayerful saint.

Much of the article's information is taken from Obama's two books. But these are actually political documents, written with the clear purpose to make the reader sympathetic to Obama, admiring of Obama, even in awe of Obama.

I find his books to be self-serving exposes. I like him better if I just focus on his platform.

Again, I may end up voting for Senator Obama. But I do not find his lack of roots or his upbringing to be a positive. They are what they are. I am more concerned by them, than I am impressed by them.

If I were a McCain supporter, I would cancel my subscription.

And when my subscription comes up for renewal, I will not renew. Newsweek -- and Time -- are no longer news magazines. You are but a slightly higher form of People. I find your thumbs up/thumbs down segment to be particularly cloying. How does this inform the American people? How does this stimulate our critical thinking?

Back to the article. Ultimately, this glowing type of article probably doesn't even serve Obama well. I can't even begin to tell you how much your analysis turned me off.

You know what is scarier than Obamas pastor, spiritual mentor, close friend (like an uncle) for 20 years? The members of his church who are so enamored by his hateful / angry sermons, with them smiling, jumping up and down, clapping,etc. cheering Reverend Wright on. Does anyone really think that Obama just sat there with Michelle in the pew with their hands folded on their lap while the rest of the church members went wild? Me thinks not.

TOPIC: Name-Calling

When one is called a Racist, a Bigot, a White Supremacist, the arguer is not simply trying to define a persons position but is trying to define a person. When in the course of debate, one is called by someone a racist, et al, that person is not trying to clarify an argument but to end one. Racist is not an argument, it is a pejorative. Let's allow Jared Taylor of the New Century Foundation explain:

If someone calls you a RACIST s/he has completely shifted his ground and is not dealing with facts or logic anymore. He is saying You are bad!, which is PURE EMOTION. Prof. Michael Levin, author of Why Race Matters, says this kind of CHILDISH OUTBURST makes no more sense than calling someone a poopoo-head . Grownups do it only because it works, and it works only because so many whites are invertebrates.

The silliness of the RACISM charge is especially clear if you are talking about racial differences in IQ. Just point out that the only legitimate issue is how to interpret the evidence. Your conclusions are either right or wrong. If someone stops trying to explain why you are wrong and instead starts calling you names, it is a sure sign he cannot explain why you are wrong is because you are right!

Isn''t there something to be said for having Michelle forced into the background- She is a liablity to her husband- and a woman who is also not qualified to be in the WhiteHouse- with her suprisign statements about finally being proud of the country and hateful white americans-I think the Obama''s sincerely underestimate the power of the Presidential position, since they state that his trip to Eurpoe is a''"Audition"..What audacity! The sense of entitlement is abundant with Democrats and this why they keep losing and will lose again. Pelosi is taking no responsiblity for her "failures" but blaming Bush, And Congress has failed the public with there failed promise''s..Hasn''t the American people learned anything from the delusional people who have no sense of themselves?

Does the decision to split with Rev. Wright challenge the very fundamentals of what Obama claims his faith represent ? Namely forgiving others.
