I just finished "The Monster of Florence" and all readers should basically understand that this same inept prosecutor completely bungled that case and ruined many people's lives. Italy may be a beautiful, cultural icon but their justice system is anything but. This prosecutor should no longer have a job.

If you think the Italian justice system is broken, the US justice (?) system is a train wreck. The US has 25% of the incarcerated prisoners IN THE WORLD! Justice in the US consists of lies, intimidation and coersion to get the convictio at any cost. The beneficiaries are the highly paid lawyers who are typically college graduate loosers who could not find any other job and did not want to flip hamburgers so they went to law school. American justice applies only to all non-law enforecment citizens. Cops, prison guards and prosecutors are ABOVE THE LAW.

Obviously spoken from someone who has no idea what the criminal justice system is at all. I certainly hope you get your rear arrested and put in my jail so we can show you how it feels to be on the other side of the bars. By the way, what does this have to do with the Italian murder case anyway? Jamestown0509

I lived in Italy for many years. And I will say that the temperament of many students who study abroad, but especially we Americans, can be really atrocious. Of course, this murder is an extreme case. And we certainly export our media and icons, now we export our crazy sociopaths too. How embarrassing! I hope Italy can forgive another egregious act by Americans, and the family of the British student can find some healing. And I hope students studying in any foreign country remember they are ambassadors for our nation, act as such!

At the very least, this girl sounds like one big skank. But that's not surprising: most of these young American girls (most of whom come from good families) are or become skanks when they study abroad. If they haven't cut loose and gone wild already back at their home colleges, many do when they come to study in a foreign land. Many of these young "ladies" find the abundance of easy sex, drugs, and alcohol to be just too tempting. In fact, in places like Italy, Spain, and France, these young American fo-eds have earned the much deserved reputation among the local men as being easy pickings. This much to the detriment of our more chaste and virtuous young ladies that study abroad, as they have to fight off the constant advances of the local young men.

Exactly. I was one of those guys in South America. They were so easy. I wanted awholesome relationship with the "unreachable" blond blue-eyed lady. But they would be "nice" to everybody. A deal breaker, right there. So naive. I call them now "EOs" (Equal Opportunity). If they didn't "come" with you, it was not because they didn't do it, but because they didn't want to do it with you ... worse than hookers (gratis). NO respect for themselves, therefore ... A different story with the Mormon girls .... nuttin! Julio, the Merengue King and still got it in Michigan ....

But that's not surprising, as many of these young American co-eds (many who come from good families) find the allure of easy sex, drugs, and alcohol to be too much to handle. Then again, many of them were probably 'skankified' back in the states at their first high school or college keg party. In fact, these young American co-eds have such a reputation in such places like Italy and Spain, that the more chaste and virtuous of them are constantly having to fight off the unwanted advance of the local young men.

Hey, you only have to look at sub Saharan Africa to know where the blame is likely to lie, Rwanda, Darfur, Zimbabwe, Liberia, etc., etc.

WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO IT, ITS ROUGH SEX GONE WRONG. I DON'T THINK ITS POSSIBLE FOR ANY HUMAN BEING TO START THE NIGHT THINKING OF SEX AND WHILE AT THE ACT CHANGE THEIR MINDS TO KILL. i BELIEVE ONE OF THEM JUST GOT TOO CARRIED AWAY AND SLIT MAREDITHS THROAT. AND SO HAPPENS THAT IN THE SHOCKNESS OF THE MOMENT, EVERYONE FREAKED OUT. GUEDE FLED THE SCENE, AND THE REST BLAMED THE CRIME ON EACH OTHER. OBVIOUSLY ONE DID THE ACTUAL CRIME, BUT DOESN'T WANT TO ADMIT TO IT. SO WE ARE MOW IN THIS BIG MESS..

There is evidence that place her at the scene of the crime, place her DNA+ Fingerprints on the murder weapon, and give her a motive. Combine that with her thrown out confessions, and her messed up diary fantasys. Then add maybe the most telling evidence her actions after the crime. Who tells people you heard your roomate murdered so nonchantly, who carries on like nothing happened after your roomate was brutally murdered. Who, just a few days after your roomate was murdered in what looks like a sex slaying, buys lingrie with they're boyfriend and jokes around about having wild sex with them. If shes not guilty of the crime its clear shes a sociopath, given her calous reaction in the aftermath of such horror. So take a sociopath, a motive ,DNA ,thrown out connfessions, and place of murder. Who else in the world commited this crime? Its unclear what each of the 3 people involved role was, but I'm positve that Amanda was defiantly a in there and after the fact seemed to care more about the letters she recieved for being pretty, then the fact that a young girl( her roomate) was brutally assualted then murdered.

Getseriosfast... I do hope you chose to re-read the post of Aunta. She said she knows the young lady in question, however does not know her on a personal level. Through her short dealings with Knox, she said she has a hard time believing it, and the person she met, Knox, at that time she feels sorry for. She does not know if Knox was acting one way and then being another somewhere else. She did not know the criminal (murdering) side of Knox, however if there is a criminal side of her is yet to be detrimined.

It is very sad what has happened to the young British student. It is a tragedy for her family and friends. I would urge the students implicated to speak the whole truth about what happened that night at the villa. I am sure that Meredith went overseas to better her life, not to end up murdered. I am also sure that the students charged in connection with the crime didn't plan to spend the rest of their lives in a foreign prison. It's very sad all around and I hope that the right persons are brought to justice.

that's why i say if ur black or a minority and don't want to look stupid, stay out of crazy stuff like that, because u will be the first to be accused because of being involved. i wish black people would get it in their thick skulls: GET INTO SOMEONE'S BUSINESS=UR GOING TO BE IN DEEP CRAP. so stay out of people's business and u won't get into trouble. just stay at home and eat ur chicken and watermelon. lmao.

To the post by aunta....Why would you feel bad for this girl...She torturned another person! How disgusting of a person do you have to be in order to feel sorry for a criminal and then talk about God...You're horrific aunta!

It is very sad what happened to the british student. It is such a tragedy for her family and friends. She went over seas to study and make something good out of her life but instead, she got murdered. I hope that the students implicated will speak the truth about what happened. I hope that justice is served. Only the persons at the villa that night knows exactly what happened. The investigators will never know the full story unless an eye witness decides to talk.

It's American (European) women like her that give a bad name to all American girls. Everywhere in the world they are considered easy and willing to "put out" for the sake of "fun", beer or drugs, or just to show they are liberal .... Note the involvement of a black ... Local women wouldn't be caught dead with the guys they hang around with ... Are they stupid or what? Don't go too far ... you can see the same thing at the US Salsa clubs .... When they ask me why I don't ask them to dance, I say: First I observe. If I don't like the guys a girl dances with, I won't dance with her ... It works every time. You get what you look for.
This is my opinion and it is based on actual facts of personal involvement and I'm willing to refute any counter-arguments. But I don't have time for that, so don't kill yourself responding to this. Julio, the merengue King ....

It appears that the American press is trying to provide exposure and build sympathy for Knox. What if this had been an American male? I'm sure it would be either ignored or he would be declared guilty, because he is a male and of course ALL males are sexual offenders by definition.

kristy1006 you say an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth but the same book you are quoting also says judge not least ye be judged. so lets find out if she gets convicted first. oh you should also learn how to spell.

Eye for an eye isn't in the Bible. It's the Code of Hammurabi.
