So he should not go to school? This is the public school in the country his parent was in. At the end, its just education. It doesnt make you muslem anymore than christian education class makes you christian - as a real christian knows - you need to believe in salvation and in God and his son.
You keep insisting he was once a mulsim no matter what the facts show. Is this about him or you? Do you have personal knowledge of him more than all those factual investigators?
Why not decide what he is, what his policies are (ignore all facts or what he proposes), then vote against him but leave us out of your personal issues.

I say that anytime goverment forces any religious study, be it Islam or Creation Science, it is no different than being in a church or mosque school.

Picture outdoor newsstands across America. Crowds walk by while individuals slow down to browse the stacks. The New Yorker Magazine will inevitably be prominent because of its controversial cover. Newsstands have one goal: Sell the news. Whatever it is. Clarification of the front covers is not their goal. Obviously it was not the goal of the New Yorker, either, whose bottom line is also to sell its magazine. Toe expect the so-called underinformed masses to believe otherwise is ludicrous. The New Yorker knew exactly what displaying this cartoon on the cover without BOLD lettering explanation would do. Period. Enough said.

But he had the Gramm who called us whiners and that we were in mental depression over the economy has his advisor for over 20 years and was on Gramm's presidential bid in 1995. Yet he says Gramm does not speak for me (even htough he remains on his campaign). Yet Obmaa says Wright does not speak for me and additionally gets off his church and yet you insist he does! The guy was not even in church most of the past 8 years as anyone with little kid knows (I have been unable to attend church regularly for the past 3 years since I had a daughter. Ifyou know how it works you will understand this - all they do is cry and make it imposible to be there). His state senate travel itinerary additionally confirms he was not in the infamous 2001 sermon.
Its hypocrisy - GRamm does not represent McCain though closer to his campaign, but Wright represent's BO' views even though all his personal pronouncements have been contrary to Wright's and have been inclusive. If you continue to hold on to this position, it meant it never all really mattered from the start to you. Your mind was tended to its conclusion irrespective, the details simply shape to reinforce it.

Not for me, I want to know what has formed the candidates values system. Religion, or lack of, is important in understanding a candidate.

Here is the problem with the "caricature" in the New Yorker. People, including myself, see how one can make an initial asssumption based on a picture. If it was just any black man in muslim garb fist pounding a "guerilla like" woman toting an AK-47 w/ a picture of Osama Bin Laden in the background and the US flag being burned in the fireplace, people would automatically think TERRORISTS!. This man is not a terrorist. In fact, he has probably done more for Americans in his short span in politics than over 90% of you bloggers. Maybe you are the terrorist, for attempting to destroy the ultimate American Dream- from virtually nowhere to possibly becoming the president of the United States of America. They say people fear the unknown, but what is unknown? We have the technology and capability to find fault in every person running for Government office, but there has been no evidence, links, associations of Obama to the real enemies of our nation, only rumors, falsehoods, and the same fear mongering that has been going on for over 7 years in the Bush Administration.

The American people have been so manipulated by politicians, their campaign staffs and the media that almost all of this garbage is dismissed as gossip. I say almost all because this stuff is fun to talk about at a very superficial level, like in these blogs, or in the kind of "did you hear what happened today" sort of conversation. People in general aren't going to make up their minds about Obama using this kind of stuff.
Now his own comments in San Franciso essentially labeling a significant part of the electorate as weakminded and dependent upon their guns and religion, that probably hurt him far more. His highmindedness in his approach to a new kind of politics as compared to his same old politics in the way his campaign is run, that also probably hurt him more.
If Obama can shift the conversation away from his own mistakes to foolish gossip and blame that for his drop in the polls it would be just another same old politics kind of thing.

They know people are weak and make decisions on personal emotions - likeability, most like us, one we'd most like to drinkn beer with, looks least elitist - (even if in reality we label th emultimilionaire with 7 houses and no mortgage the non-elitist and the one who recently paid of college loans the elitist - which really just means least like us).
This whole thing should have been about policies and truths and about getting ourselves the best next four years (and remedying our silly choices that gave us a devalued country - who though our dollar will be less than the canadian, now most people can swoop in and buy our devlaued assets such as Budweiser and even China is beginning to buy us up - but our own hate will not let us choose on issues).

You are combining the events of health issues that were incurred with his first wife (Carol) with his current wife of 28 years (Cindy). Cindy was the wife that had the mild stroke back in 2004. Carol was the wife at the time that was involved in a bad accident in her car sliding into a pole off the road and left with a limp. This event with Carol happened when McCain was a POW in the Vietnam War.

As a white middle aged lower SES American, I say that someone's religion or sex DOES NOT matter if they are Citizens of this country who have a record of serving, and want the often thankless job of President of this country. Not all Muslims are terrorists, not all Buddhists are pacificists, not all "evangelicals" handle snakes. Check your prejudices at the door, vote the issues and platforms. Consider that by the time someone has gotten as far along in the process as Mr. Obama, there won't be many, if any secrets in their lives left to out=especially major, co=opting America ones!
