Talking about satire, I would like to see the front cover of the next edition of the New Yorker with McCain and Cindy in bed, a bottle of viagra on the night stand and his former crippled wife looking on in her wheelchair and crying. PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL? ERRRRRRR NO!!!!!

To Obama supporters - don???t believe these negative comments are coming from a lot of people, some are genuine but the majority are just a few misguided fools posting with different names.

Clinton is asking for money, not to retire her debt but to add to her 2012 campaign fund. Read below.

Has any of you received an email like this one?

Hillary Clinton Asks To Keep Donor Money for 2012
    July 14, 2008
    By Jason Horowitz

Hillary Clinton???s campaign is sending out letters to donors asking permission to roll a $2,300 contribution to Clinton???s 2008 general election coffers to her 2012 senate election fund instead of offering a refund.

The letter, read to me by one recipient, includes a photocopy of a handwritten note from Clinton that says, ???Dear friend, your commitment has meant so much to me over the course of my presidential campaign. You were there for me when I needed you the most and I???ll never forget it. I hope you???ll help me continue to fight for the issues and causes we believe in by filling out the enclosed form in support of Friends of Hillary.???

The form says, ???I hereby verify that my 2008 general election contribution may be designated to the 2012 Senate election. I designate the entire amount to the 2012 primary election. However if I have already contributed to the 2012 primary, I designate any amount in excess of $2,300 to the 2012 general election.???

???If we do not hear back from you by August 28 2008 we will automatically refund your contribution.???

This donor, at least, had no intention of signing. ???Of course I???m going to get my money back,??? the donor told me.

From the PUMA site, but I am going to try to find a verifiable site regarding this. I am also going to post this on Obama's website. If this is true I am pissed, how dare she beg for money to clear up her debt but at the same time ask her donors if they will fund her 2012 election campaign. They should be the ones paying off her debt.

Earlier today I contacted hillaryclinton.com about setting up a reoccuring monthly donation, just to help out. But if this is what she is doing then HELL NO! If i hear back from her hq, I will definitely ask about this. Every dime that she gets should go toward her debt instead of asking Obama supporters to pay it off. This is BS!

    • Posted By: loriw @ 07/15/2008 7:34:27 PM

      sjpersonal,
Because I am undecided I signed up on all 3 candidate's websites and so I get e-mail from all 3. This last week I got a message from Hillary stating it is not HER debt it is OUR debt. Now isn't that special....

I just thought I would inform you of that so you could reflect that in your post and so you could send her a donation (read with driping sarcasm).

      • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 07/16/2008 11:25:48 AM

Hi Loriw, yes i got the sarcasm LOL!. I had decided to send a donation to assist with it, the whole unity thing, but not if she is asking for money for her next presidential campaign. As I stated in my post, if this is what is important to her, then she obviously does not need Obama or his supporters to help her pay it off. I posted this information on the Obama website and people are fumming.

FYI, Clinton's people are complaining that Obama's supporters are not stepping up in regards to donating money to her. CNN & MSNBC have reported that Obama's major donors feel that Clinton would not be in this position if she had conceded when it became obviousl that it was mathematically impossible for her to win. She chose to remain in the running and continue to rack up debt,.

I have no sympathy. And no I will not be donating and I will let her people know why I changed my mind.

    Comment: um
I would still like to see Obama's birth certificate. Is that so much to ask?
Full disclosure would help me decide. Was his father married to his mother or was
he born to a single mom? Why the need to cover up his birth? Nice to know going forward.

And do you want to see McCain's too - since he really isn't a US citizen, he was born in Panama.

Bravo - great post. These sideshows are exactly the types of things that Republicans have hung their hat on recently. Ever since Clinton/Lewinsky, Republicans have found that it's far more effective to bray about trivialities than to address issues that affect the country. Why worry about the economy and war when we can look into the relationship status of a candidate's parents when he/she was conceived? Seems some people want to make politics into the next issue of a celebrity magazine. It's self-serving and short-sighted, and does no benefit to the country they profess to love so much.

      • Posted By: Natiwhat @ 07/16/2008 11:21:59 AM

Oops - this should have been in response to Chester Hank's post above. I don't doubt McCain's citizenship any more than I doubt Obama's. The argument is inane and xenophobic, in my humble opinion.

Obama's mother was very impressed with Barrack Obama Sr, who she met while attending college in Hawaii. Obama Sr. was very intelligent and outgoing and had a lot of friends who all hung out together. She and Barrack Obama Sr got together, were married and Obama Jr. was born during their marriage. His father left them when Obama was two.

Very well put. We live in a fast, visual world. The majority of people do not read the New Yorker or long articles on anything. When the cover is seen as someone passes it in the grocery store it reinforces all the false stories being promoted in every media form. The voting public is not going to open the magazine, read the contents or article and ponder the meaning. At best, the person will be puzzled as to why the liberal magazine is supporting these crazy stories. Those at the New Yorker know the power of the visual as well as you and I. Talk about living in the bubble of your own world.
    Thank you for your comments.

The question is, "What is the New Yorker afraid of?"

  • Posted By: ghicks @ 07/16/2008 9:29:31 AM

The cover is pretty much my opinion of him and ALL my friends. He and his wife hate America and they probably do burn flags in the privacy of their own home. He talks about 'change' with giving us no true idea of what he is 'changing'. If his 'change' is NOT attending debates, NOT going to Iraq before he talks about it, NOT wearing a flag pin until American's complain, NOT allowing American's to question is wife when she puts herself in a big mouth public position we don't agree on - then Obama wants to take away our Freedom of Speech stating to; allow her to speak and we shut up if we don't agree. I AM NOT INTERESTED IN THE KIND OF "CHANGE" Obama seems to politically stating. Mark my words, he will be the worst President EVER!! Good Job The New Yorker ! Keep it up.

  • Posted By: emmarcee @ 07/16/2008 8:56:13 AM

The question is Alter, you liberals could find only this guy to be the next president of the USA? Just because he learned the "pastor" style oratory and was able to "split" the black votes in dem primary? There was nobody else who could have gone without the stigma of "may be he is a Muslim"? It is not his race or his faith that is going to cost him, but the "cover up" and flip flops aided by the liberal media.

  • Posted By: leighjamesleigh @ 07/15/2008 8:19:43 AM

This is the perfect place for the Obama haters to vent. Anyone in marketing or professional writing knows the cover was a marketing ploy to sell magazines in this tough economy and it worked. McCain, with his yellow teeth, and forced smile will do nothing to help our economy. We will continue to taunt Iran and become militarily involved with them. And Iraq will never end, the draft will be necessary since they do not have enough soldiers now and many of them have returned many times already. McCain doesn't know whether he's coming or going, the conservative Republicans are pulling him in one direction and the moderate Republicans are pulling him another direction and you can see it on his face. The Roman empire crumbled from within and our country is crumbling from within, McCain does not have the diplomacy or verbal skills to pull us out of our own destruction and help us get coexist and compete with the global market. Environmental issues are huge and that is another McCain weakness, the world's greatest scientists-regardless of politics-agree on the crisis of global warming and a drastically changing ecology that will directly effect our children and their children as natural resources will hardly be available-who will best address the issues of a dying planet-a conservative; they don't believe global warming even exists. Think before you vote for McCain and what it entails and what we're leaving behind for our kids, he will leave them futile wars and increased pollution, global warming, and a horrendous economy.

Bravo to the New Yorker for calling out the Republican attack machine with this satirical cartoon. New Yorker readers ???get it.??? If its humor is too sophisitcated for some idiot who reads USA Today, that???s not the publication???s problem. Exactly what kind of society do you want to live in where every publication is expected to write to the lowest common denominator?
Obama???s response pandered to a) stupid people and b) people whose first instinct is to squelch free speech. His reaction was similar to when he kowtowed to those who said he was unpatriotic for not wearing a flag pin. Just as he should have stood up to those yahoos for creating that ridiculous litmus test of one???s patriotism, he shouldn???t buckle under to those who would attack the New Yorker???s right to satirize the republican???s despicable attempt to paint michelle as some latter-day Angela Davis and Barak as a terrorist sympathizer. It???s like the critics of New Yorker took a page from the republicans who blasted moveon.org for its General Betray-us ad. Or the muhamed cartoon fatwa. What???s wrong with you people??

    Hi news-sharer - yes.

McCain's first wife waited for him for 5 years while he was a POW. Upon his return, his wife had been disabled in a horrible accident. She had not wanted to tell him until he got back. Then at some party he meets the much younger, richer beer heiress. He starts up an affair with her the night he meets her. Apparently it was not the first affair he'd had on his disabled wife.

Sounds like a helluva guy - not the kind of guy I'd trust. He likes to get in bed with the rich ones. You know like Haliburton, KBR, the big oil companies and the telecoms (who want to take away your free internet)

If you trust a guy like this - then he's your man. He certainly is not my man.

    • Posted By: sharenews @ 07/15/2008 5:47:44 AM

Well at least after I answer you three or 4 times you responded back in correct manner not mentioning that his first wife had a stroke as you were claiming (and instead it was his current wife he married 28 years ago). All I can tell you men straying from their wives and vice versa just as much these days does happen. The American public knows that all too well cuz they have been subjected to similar experiences given the rate of divorces. But to think that all voters should not even think of voting for McCain based on his mistake he made almost 30 yrs ago is ludicrous.

      • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 07/15/2008 11:02:51 AM

Sharenews, in your opinion, McCain- two wives, two mistakes? If he had had two other , I bet you he would have made 'mistakes' on them too according to you. Get real, no mistake. He treated them both shabbily because he did not have the courage to face their illness and he wanted everything for himself without anyone stopping him. He is self centered and selfserving. How can a man like that be able to run the country?

    • Posted By: ejohnsonmtg @ 07/15/2008 6:05:21 PM

Is it a sin to be Muslim? The last time I checked this was America? You can be anything that you want to be. I find it ironic that when McCain said that he did not love America until he was deprived of her company did not make the news circuit. So, if he said that what does that make him?

panther12 is doubtless on target when he says the silent majority of morons is alive and well. They were dumb enough to vote for W twice. Now they can be stupid enough to vote for McCain, who is just as much a puppet of Israel as Bush has been. Bush as puppet cut the value of the dollar in half by running up a trillion dollar deficit by cutting taxes and waging the neocon war in Iraq; this gave the dumb silent majority $4 gas at the pump. Now they can elect McCain who'll either facilitate Bush's or Israel's bombing of Iran before McCain takes office. That will give the boobs $10 to $15 gas at the pump, wipe out the stock market, and through the country and the world into depression. Back in '32, uneducated Americans were not so dumb. They actually voted for FDR after Hoover gave them a depression. Somehow, uneducated Americans now seemingly get dumber and more self-destructive in their politics every election cycle. They're simply clueless. So you're right, panther12, the animals, as Mencken used to accurately call them, will again vote against their economic self-interest because they're so racist, stupid, and easily conned, no matter how much they might now dislike Bush. They never learn from their mistakes, these clods.

True, catspaw. I'd feel sorry for these "simple" people, if only they couldn't vote. Instead, they'll be voting for 4 more years of Bush, based on the fear tactics custom-made for the lower rung. And that's not my expression for them. Nope. The GOP as targeted the lower rung as just that, and has written about their campaign tactics which do just that (Harper's had a great piece on it back in 2004). Also, Confessions of a Republican Operative is an excellent book written by a GOPer. But literacy is required for that one ;-) It just scares me that these same stupid, scared people who voted w in for 8 years will somehow manage to take this country down even further with their myopic fear and hate. Well like the saying goes " a picture is worth a thousand words"..and yes, this one is speaking in hordes. Hopefully each American person, has the capacity inteleectually to interpret this picture for what the author was trying to depict Obamas real agenda..I personally think Mr Obama is not really yet prepared for the Presidency. His copied, well, copied Kennedy mannerism to a tee, is being played to the tee on all of us Americans. and his wife is no Jackie O either, she is sorta of a mix of Angela Davis meets wanna-be Patty Hearst..These two have the masses fixed upon a dynamic duo, from a long time ago era. The late John and Jackie Kennedy..Yes, the aftermath of the Bush Terror train on the American People, the economy, and the way of life, has left the people hungry for a quick-fix, someone who will take us back when America was a Super power, and we had help on every corner for whatever ailed you, to better times. But, those kind of politics, are long gone. This two will not get us the United States we want back from the Terrorists, or the Corporate America, and the Greedy Gremlins that live in Congress and the White House..People wake up, look at these two, with what they really are, see their past actions, and you get a glimpse who they really are..people dont change for the better, specially when power is bestowed upon them. I think he should remain as a Senator for some time to come, get more experience, feel the patriotism for your Country, and for his Wife, have her work more with underprivilaged, with Veterans of War, and maybe, she will feel proud to be an American, anyday, all the time no matter what. and stop being someone else, stop mimicing the great, one and only real Democrat royalty, the American people had, The Kennedys, be your own man, with your own words and actions, that will speak and show people who you really are. and yes, a picture will stirr a thousand emotions, in the human psyche, and usually is the right hunch to follow.

Obama has written in his books, and many articles in respectable news organizations have all said that Obama's mother and father were married in the U.S. at the time of his birth. But the insistence on seeing a birth certificate still puzzles me. Obama is a married American man. Why do you want to judge him on what the previous generation of his family did? Both his parents were well educated people who were open minded enough to care for each other despite race. Maybe that is too radical a concept for someone who wants to see a birth certificate to be "convinced."

    • Posted By: Chester Hank @ 07/16/2008 12:30:10 AM

What could it possibly matter if his mother was married to his father? What does his birth certificate have to do with ANYTHING? People: This country is in deep trouble. Our economy is in far deeper mess than most of you seem to grasp. Fannie & Freddie not only hold mortgages, those mortgages are held by banks as investments, those mortgages back bond issues for cities, and counties, and states (70% or so recently), this is a global crisis, and you're worried about a birth certificate? Please, I know it's a lot to ask many of you to try to grasp the complexities of the world situation, but could you try just a little? I know it's intimidating to be really slow in this fast, fast world, but don't hide your stupidity with prejudice and pedantry. Instead, try to learn a little something. If you think we're in a mess now because of w and his cronies, just wait till you see what 4 more years of a McCain.
