nice
Tthe style may go back further than even the Fifties. Maybe the original saggers were plumbers.
Comment: Woman: "Officer, if only you had been here a minute sooner you could have caught that killer/robber/rapist! Where were you?"
Officer: "Sorry ma'am I was arresting this man/kid for wearing his pants "too" low. Maybe next time."

Chief Dicks probobly wants the young black men look like they have a brain in their head. When they can't find a job, do you think that appearences have anything to do with it. Perhaps it should't be illegal, but I am sure Chief Dick has his heart in the right place.
His way of looking out after the young people.
Gary
It's not just young black men doing that. Let's get that straight before you come off sounding like an ass!!
sorry if this posts twice. I'm a little disturbed by "sagging" being considered "fashion" unless you've been to prison. Inmates started the trend. I forget why. I don't think it should be outlawed, I do believe in civil rights, but it should not be considered a "fashion" anything. It's a thug thing more than anything.
Screw it, let's just all dress like the Amish & go back to the 1800's, shall we?
Whether you WANT to see someone walking around in their underwear, or whether you LIKE it, think it's distasteful, think it's stupid, think it's hot, think it's distracting or whatever - IT'S NOT UP TO YOU!! It's certainly not illegal to wear a bikini, which shows a HELL of a lot more than what these men are showing. I've walked into a grocery store in nothing more than some short shorts and a bikini top. Like it or not, it's not breaking the law and that's the issue here. If that's illegal, then so is wearing a bikini. There will be ways around this. If it's illegal to show your boxers, then they'll start wearing athletic shorts under their pants. Is that illegal too? To the two posters below, GET OVER YOURSELVES. Maybe it should be illegal for a man to wear a hot pink tie - I personally think that's distracting.
If Sagging should be illegal than so should be the way immondest women dress, for women used to dress modest now thay dress that glorify a sexual pervert cluture, which is why this country is so sexualized, so if immodest dress should aplly to men than it should go to women too,
Would not wearing any pants in public be okay as long as undergarments are worn?
Why should having pants cover your legs be any more considered fully clothed as not wearing any pants?
Just because what should be covering your rear is covering the back of your knees does not make you any more clothed or covered as far as decency laws rules and social educate goes then going out in your undergarments; which ever type you wear. It is not fashion, it is disrespect and not a race issue. If blacks have so many more young men going with the equivalent of not wearing pants in public they have issues that need to be addressed, The race card only helps perpetrate racial stereotypes and do not fight racial injustice. Making a race issue of something that is counter coulture and shows no class and disrespects everyone around you is not an issue to make about any race. It is not a black issue and it is not appropriate to use an problem that is real to defend rights we do not have.
The reason you say that is because it is not your rights that are being taken away. People don't want to say it is racial because they don't want to feel they have racist tendencies, make decisions, and would judge people because of their race, when they do. Buddy sagging pants are not an issue. You should wake up. And please don't reply that you are black or you have black friends because it is irrelivent to your argument.
You want to know what a racial issue is?
A security officer calling a grown man with his wife and baby on a public train "sit down little boy".
A worker getting less because she is black.
I am white and can say that I see what is racist all of the time it goes all ways and is not okay to say that showing disrespect is a race issue. I have friends of many means, preferences, races and orientations.
It has nothing to do with showing some respect to your fellow people of any race. It is not always about the race as it is about the actions of the individual. If a lot of people do something it does not automatically make it okay or a culture acceptance issue, BTW I did tell the security officer he was wrong and reported his actions to Trimet up to the General Manager, it was wrong and I found some one who cared enough to take action. I am no stranger to racism and can not beleive this is becoming a race issue.
Body odor is offensive as well should we outlaw that?? So are the spiked hair dos especially in movies or public forums, but they are perfectly legal. Rush Limbaugh is offensive but in America we are free to express ourselves, the government is not here to make personal decisions for us and if you support this type of government intervention move to a communist country!!
Legal to go around in undergarments?
It is not all about freedoms and taking them away.
It has not been okay to go out with out certain clothing articles,
it is not about taking freedoms away it is about enforcing what has always been there.
Would you want to see everyone going around in their underwear?
Common sense and due diligence in what is really obscene is hard to define when it comes down to issues like these, But something that is not accepted by its self is no more acceptable with accessories added, IE pants not worn over undergarments is the same as wearing undergarments with out pants. Fashion is not the issue, disrespect and failing to comply with basic dress code for even a Mc Donalds is the issue, Should busisness be forced to allow you to come in half dressed should a pervert be alowed at the playground half dressed? Some freedoms should not freely be available to abuse.
I would say most of the things on TV and radio are much worse but I dont see an outcry for censorship in these venues which reach more people and are more influential than saggin, this is AMERICA where freedom of expression is a staple of our society not just for the things we agree with!!
well said..
First of all, sagging may be a trademark of hip-hop, but this style goes back to the mid to late Fifties when high-school aged boys were wearing their Levi's low, and in some cases, cutting off the belt loops. We displayed our boxers too, and wore our t's and shirts on either tucked or not. This style was originally a hip style that was later copied by hip-hoppers. At any rate, sagging is legitimate, and certainly does not merit criminal status.
It shouldn't be a crime. Visually it is, but I'm sure the police in Flint have better things to do. What's next, arresting fat guys in Speedos? Hmm, on second thought....
Hey crocker...hope some of the saggers read your post and realize that they're asking for it up the butt.
Let the saggers sag...when they commit a xcrime , they generally can't get away quickly enough.
I've seen these clowns on "Cops" trying to run. Not much success there!
It shouldn't be a crime. Stupidity wasn't the last time I checked. What's next, busting fat guys in Speedos? On second thought...
Woman: "Officer, if only you had been here a minute sooner you could have caught that killer/robber/rapist! Where were you?"
Officer: "Sorry ma'am I was arresting this man/kid for wearing his pants "too" low. Maybe next time."
What next, no turbins in public? Or how about outlawing Yankees caps in Boston, this is madness... That said, sagging is a poor fashion statement but so is poor color coordination, should we outlaw that too??
Are you trying to equate mismatch colors or double plaids with showing half of your anatomy to strangers? We try to teach our children to keep their private parts to themselves not show them off because they think its cool to walk around with the crotch of their pants below their knees and holding them up by grabbing their crotch.
I would say most of the things on TV and radio are much worse but I dont see an outcry for censorship in these venues which reach more people and are more influential than saggin, this is AMERICA where freedom of expression is a staple of our society not just for the things we agree with!!
maybe you should pay more attention to the world around you. There are censorship laws for television and radio. And if the critics of bad language and partial nudity had their way , there would be even more. The cable stations can get away with programing that is objectionable if it is shown late at night. We also have a choice to not watch programming that we deem unacceptable or turn off the radio if the lyrics to a song are semi-pornographic. But it is far more difficult to escape the sight of displayed "booty". Does one have to stay at home locked inside one's own home to avoid exposure? You cannot drive down the road or go into the store without seeing someone's rear end. It is NOT a fashion statement nor is it an expression of one's ideals/speech etc... This forum however is.
So if fads is ilegal. what about most woman showing more than just cleavage or their buttock, when they use bootyshorts, think about it, now they whant to control the way we dress, the next thing you know is that they are going to make us live and dress like polygamist.
well put, common-sense
I say "let the saggers sag"...can't tell u how many have been caught by police after a crime because they couldn't run fast enough
