I just think we all need to ware burlap sacks so we all look alike. that solves several things. insted of aresting them, give them a fine and a pair of suspendsrs and make that the punishment. Lot's of other ways to solve things. The sad thing is that young people are just tring to be reconized for one thing or another, maybe we just need to give them a little bit of praise once in a while. Give them a pat on the back or something good for the small things they do. Too often we (the public) notice the bad things when the good things outweigh the bad stuff. Just a thought. kc

#1....EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW *visual of "sagging" 90-yr-old man*....again, EWWWWWWWWWW ***more uncontrollable shuddering***
#2 ....Don't 90-yr-old men sag enough already? Just sayin'...
    # ....When your 90, you have no a*s, so THAT"S why you see so many 90-yr-olds wearing suspenders...HA! The truth comes out -- THERE'S your solution, Chief Dicks...make suspenders mandatory for all "sagging" offenders...THAT"D make 'em think twice...If THAT didn't work, just show 'em pictures of sagging 90-yr-olds lmao

It's about TIME, if i see one more of these kids butt i think i'll throw up!!!!! Keep up the good work Chief maybe it will rub off on the Chief of police in my town!!!!!

  • Posted By: sinisterdrip @ 07/18/2008 1:17:30 PM

If the kids are minors fine the parents because they are the ones that allow it. And really anyone that actually thinks someone looks cool dressed like that are truly idiots.

Do a little research!!! Sagging originated with gangs (see also: Bloods & Crips) as away to set themselves apart from mainstream society. Fashion choice aside, these folks soon discovered that fairly sizeable weapons could be secreted in the tent like spaces created near their ungirded loins. This police chief has made a courageous decision to stand on the side of officer and public safety. He deserves applause, not derision.

The first time I saw this "style", I darn near peed myself laughing at the guy. It just plain looks silly!
Is it worth arrest? No. There are bigger fish to fry.
I do, however, support reverse pantsings.

That is great maybe someone will teach them to respect themselves let alone another Human being.

I agree 100%. I realize it is just a style and believe you me the one that stated he would do until he is 90 won't and we all know it. You can't get a job dressed like that. But I have rights also. I shouldn't have to look at someone's underwear or butt because some of them don't wear boxers or shorts and my rights are being abused also. And by the way cowboy boots are not showing anything, duh? And I also am very tired of seeing the way girls dress. FOr crying out loud, and we wonder why rape has gone up in statistics. But for the sagging issue, the ACLU should come defend my civil rights.

I was made aware that the origin of this was from prison but for a different reason. Men in prison would lower their pants to make it known that they were "availabe." Maybe that would make some men think before they dress.

    • Posted By: AtomicKathy @ 07/18/2008 1:10:15 PM

jaxx, I heard that too. You would think knowing that would be a deterrent, but maybe they do know and that is why they are doing it!

this is so lame. Do the cops really have nothing better to do than judge what someone is wearing. every woman who is showing cleavage is showig to much "crack" to then and should also be arrested. I work with youths of my community and i sag a little. not because i think im a thug but because im not some 70 year old man who like to wear his pants around his nipples. quit worring about how people dress and go get the drunks and druggies off the road.

Okay now lets start arresting people for wearing yellow t-shirts and using it as probable cause to search them. Is that what is next?!? If you don't like the style, don't wear it. If you don't want to see somenone's butt crack, don't look. It's as simple as that. A city as financial restricted and as dangerous as Flint has bigger issues to tackle. I say leave the youth alone and stop wasting time and money!

One more thing, I totally agree that women are abusive also in their dress. It is disgusting and deragatory and negative to all of us. I don't want to see women thin or heavy hanging out of their clothes either, so yes the police chief should also do something about that. A bikini is worn on a beach and you expect that to be seen there. So I simply say, you all want to look that way, try getting a job. You won't do it for long. The guy who said he would until he is 90, ha. I have seen plenty of fashions come and go. Just like piercing and all the rest, it eventually gets old and they move on.

Personally I think "Sagging" is rediculous~ Whatever happened to going out in public and looking nice? The same can be said to all the females out there that think just because it is the style to wear hip hugger or low rise jeans and a tight fitting top, with their spare tire showing, is okay. No sorry girls, it's ugly! I, and I am sure so many others, do not want to see your midrift hanging over the top of your jeans! Let's show some class and not A__! Take pride in the way you dress, and try to look nice no matter what your shape or size.

  • Posted By: AtomicKathy @ 07/18/2008 1:07:59 PM

I think this is the most idiotic style fad ever. Guys with their pants below their @sses, holding them up with one hand, how ignorant do you have to be to think this looks good? I wish every one of them could be thrown in jail, the ones who think dressing like that is cool are either already troublemakers or will be soon. Let's nip it in the bud!

  • Posted By: jmaalis @ 07/18/2008 1:07:26 PM

Aren't bikinis just as small as undeware? Lets outlaw them too.

  • Posted By: smarterthanme @ 07/18/2008 1:06:57 PM

Oh, do you know the muffin top,
The muffin top, the muffin top,
Oh, do you know the muffin top,
Who lives in Drury Lane? nOw Sagging is one thing but you leave those well endowed, tight shirt wearing, cleavage exposed ladies alone. That truly would be an attack on our right to choose.

I seem to remember back in the 50's that the "greaser" look was deemed "unclean and like a delinquent", and the 60's had the hippies who were 'unclean nd looked like delinquents", and the 70's etc. all had a look that some deemed inappropriate and indecent. Ok, fine. But to allow someone to dictate that look is unlawful? Where does that stop? What if someone decides that mens shortsleeve shirts or tanktops are indecent? Or women in shorts is offensive...??? Where does this stop? It would seem to me that there are far bigger issues for the criminal justice system to worry about rather than how someone dresses. If you don't like the look, look the other way. Personally, I don't like the sagger look at all. But, to make it a crime? That's about as bad as book burning. Start taking away personal choice and personal freedoms, and the country will have a MUCH bigger problem than "sagging".

I also heard (SERIOUSLY, I HEARD it, I've never BEEN to prison-- *knocks on wood*) that "sagging" started in prison, not because of an apparent belt shortage, but because it meant you were available to be someone's "b**ch". Now, I can't back this up with facts, but it's still pretty funny if it's true...Just start spreading the word nationally about the significance, and 99% of it would disappear in the first week lol

  • Posted By: tiredofidiots @ 07/18/2008 1:04:32 PM

Thank you!!! Maybe it will catch on and other cities will do the same. While I agree that it is the government stating what is allowable to wear, I also feel that it is indecent exposure. Under garments are called "under" for a reason. I don't want to know if someone wears boxers, briefs or thongs. It is sloppy and actually quite rude to people who do not want to see other people's underwear.
