Fashion Police: Flint Cracks Down on Sagging

Welcome to the Brave New World where how high you wear your pants is more important than having the police do their real job which is to catch dangerous criminals and protect citizens from harm. No one has the right to dictate a persons personal appearance based on their own opinion and prejudices and disguise it as the law. And this is nothing new. Growing up in the south in the 1960-70s and wearing my hair down to my shoulders and clothing such as my favorite pair of "flag pants" got me harassed and singled out for close scrutiny on a regular basis. So I know this kind of prejudice first hand. Leave those of us who choose to have a unique or current style of dress alone and go catch some bad guys for a change.

hey ding-dong they are exposing themsleves and its not a right to dress how ever you wish if you're walking around with you're ass hanging out. what ever happen to decency? and you should know better that the freedom we have has come at a great cost to others so its OK to walk around with you're ass hanging out because someone died for the right of freedom of clothing expression???

to jasmith2002 part of what you are saying is true,the prisons are overcrowded by gangs! Gangs deal drugs! gangs created rap music to enslave the minds of the young people and to make money and be famous. Do you even notice that many major rap stars are gangsters who try to kill each other?? Sagging is a gang mentality statement! We shouldnt oppress free speech or the right of any american who is trying to be a law abiding citizen.But gangs and drugs and rap music are major diseases that need to be removed from this country at any exspense!Then we wont need to build new prisons. And it is gangs and drugs and rap,and poverty that is created by big corporations and credit card companys and wall street and greed and laziness and any and all such evil type mentalities. That are destroying our once great nation under the Almighty God!

Hallelujah !!!!!! Its about time someone stepped up to get these houligans off the streets. Anyone who dresses that way is immature. Its similar to seeing a trashy hooker. Its about time the parents stepped up and made their kids dress appropriately and look like they have an ounce of common sense. Try going to an interview looking like that and see where it gets you. Its a disgrace and I am glad this police chief is doing something about it.

Albert Einstein. Dressed like a slob, didn't keep his hair neat, looked like he was homeless. Only one of the great MINDS of all time. Judge people by the way they look, and you will be wrong.

Like the article said, Flint has much larger issues than its residences wearing a style that the current Police Chief doesn't like. I live in a small town about 35 miles from Flint and I won't go there. I don't know anyone who does. I personally think that his objection to sagging is just a cover for some bigger objection he has. Instead of pushing his weight around over some trivial issue and creating even more negative publicity for Flint, he needs to focus on the bigger issues, be honest with it's citizens and create a positive atmosphere for Flint. It's a beautiful, old city with great buildings and great potential. But it obviously has bad management. One of the greatest things about cities is all the diverse and eclectic fashions. And what about all those guys (and sometimes women) that you see walking around or sitting down with their butt cracks actually showing. Isn't that what his little blue law of conduct is talking about? I'd rather see fashionable boxers than plumbers crack anyday.

I personally abhor the sagging - I think it is childish, immature, and just not good to look at....but if you're going to let the KKK demonstrate in this country, why stop people from dressing the way the want?

This could be illegal and its pretty much a stupid law. I am 19 and live in California so maybe I dont know what the rules are over there but they should pretty much be the same thing in dress code as over here. And if the police chief is putting attention in this he should look in a mirror and see how he dresses, I am pretty sure that not every body likes that type of style. Lets think about the Pachuco style, people wearing that were just expressing where they came from and it was a style of their own and yet they where singled out by the law and beated by sailors who got awey with it most of the time. Now if we look at this style, it does not offend anybody and there are millions of people that dress that way and I am pretty sure that is someone saggs it doesnt consider them gangsters of meen that they are going to be doing anything badd and if the police chief is doing it because he does not want to be looking at peoples underwear why is he looking that low for, they are dressing like that because its a look, a fashion that has been around for centuries. I think that the chief shold look good at his actions or just get a life because if he doesnt want to see underwear then he shouldnt alow bathing suit magazines to be sold there either or how bout in stores, should the images in front of the undergarments be censored because of some guy who thinks he could do wathever he wants because he was gaved a little more power. I think this is more of a thing that he is trying to show that he has power and wants to excet it, now lets think about how Hitler was, making jews dress a certain way can we call the Chief trying to be a dictador now. Hail Dicks! Lets go ahead and let people do wathever they want like Bush lied to us and now everybody is suffering because of high gas prices and unemployment. These type of people should be stoped before they get power crazy and do wathever they want.
