WAY TO GO DAVID DICK'S. I wish more towns would adopt that policy(law). We as americans need to put morals back in this country. What ever happened to the norms of society?

BOOOO HOOOOOOO...OMG, I can't believe all of the complainers on this message boards. If you think my "sagging" is offensive, than I will come out and say that your EXTREMELY OBESE WAISTLINE IS OFFENSIVE. I've got reason to believe that a majority of you are OVERWEIGHT DESK JOCKEYS. Nobody is arresting you for the CocaCola and Twinkies in your hand. YOU ARE TAXING ME DIRECTLY WITH THE SUBSEQUENT HEALTH CARE COST HIKES. How about your pricks in your HUMMERS? Yeah, you folks are offensive to me!! Nobodies arresting you!
Another way to harass us people that choose to be ourselves and not like everyone else. It's a good thing i wear a military uniform half of the time and fight this nations wars for freedoms im losing daily! That kid or man with the baggy pants could be the 1 that saves your sons life someday, so keep your negative opinions and judgement to yourself, what you like to wear looks retarded to me.

How do you know what I am wearing?!?
can girls who wear too-tight shirts so their muffin tops hang out be next, please?
No one wants to see your underwear. It's indecent exposure. It may be cool, it may be in, but if your potential employer recognizes you for a fashion he/she finds distasteful no matter what you look like in a job interview, bye bye job.
i cannot help but laugh about truth2Bfree's responce i did some research and found that this "style" started in prision where sagging ment you were the woman in the relationship...i personally inform them and tell them i have a freind who might be intrested in them giving them an address to the nearest gay bar so they can find what they are advertiseing for. usually they pull up their pants quickly.
Perhaps all of the people complaining about this style of dress should consider their own clothing and hair styles when they were younger. What about hot pants for the 50's set? What about the first women to wear bikini's for those in their 60's? Would you have agreed that the police had the right to arrest you because your parents and grandparents didn't like your choices? Keep in mind that it was only 90 years ago that a woman that showed her ankles (yes ankles) on the beach could be arrested. While I think it looks stupid, it is their right to look like that. It is not hurting anyone else other than their unsensible sensibilities. Maybe all of the old farts who are complaining, should ask those of the generation before theirs what they thought about their dress and hair styles.

I think it's awesome that someone is finally willing to take a stand on what is utterly rediculous wear of clothing. Exactly wear do we draw the line on "freedom of expression", as the ACLU puts it? Why do I have to be exposed to another person's underpants so he can "express" him or herself? And why are people already starting to say that the police are only using this as a way of profiling? The police chief himself is african american! Give me a break.
While sagging in itself is a fashion statement for some, it is also degrading to men of color. It appears to adapt a style that promotes public exposure of what we call underwear or under garments. Underwear are designed to be adequately covered by outerwear (pants, shirts, etc.). It is a crime that it takes city legislation (even though misapplied by the police chief) to enforce proper wearing of outter garments to cover underwear. The crime is that parents continue to allow our young men & sometimes women to expose themselves in public. Is the cost of persistant unwarranted police harassment worth the cost of men of color simply pulling our pants up and yes using a belt? Think of how we can avoid additional escalated conflict by practicing fashion modesty in public. However, I do agree that no city or state should infringe upon the civil liberties of an individual or group of people because of fashion choices. My challenge to men of color is where is our moral compass. Because it may appear that sagging is hip and cool, does this mean that sagging is morally proper? Further, is this saying that we as black men conform to any fashion statement that comes our way. We have enough problems with disrimination and injustice in American and world culture to at least think about avoiding any additional harassment based on a preferred fashion. Is a potential criminal record, the time in jail, a fine, or potential loss of employment due to jail time, worth the cost of refusing to pull our pants up and to purchase a belt? Cost of belt: $9.95 to $20.00 (Pretty reasonalble don't you thing?). Cost of harassement by police, fine, jail time and time loss from employment: Irmeasureable. PLEASE COUNT THE COST BEFORE WE PRACTICE WHAT WE DO!!!
Its interesting to note that one way of lowering crime in bad neighborhoods is to fix the streetlights, repair the pot holes and clean the area up. It may sound surprising, but every study shows that it causes people to act differently. The same goes for the way people dress. Sagging is prison culture gone mainstream in certain communities and that; in and of itself is pathetic. Is it any wonder that economically depressedareas are also the areas where this fashion is acceptable? To the posters who make a big deal about dressing this way being a freedom issue? Have it your way, but when you look for a job, assuming you ever do, understand its this type of mentality that prevents you from getting the job. You show up at my place of business dressed like that and out you go.
Floweress: Be careful what you ask for. Look how out-of-control swimsuits have become - obesce women wearing thong bikinis or men wearing Speedos - now that's truly DISGUSTING!!! If this gets pushed too hard, they'll just come up with something even worse!
This is the funniest article I have read in quite a while. Would like to see more like this one!!!
The main reality is this practice is an obvious gang related and prison mentality!! Also it is a rebellious attitude towards society.James dean ,if you will. But it is also Obvious that flint michigan and thousands of other smaller cities in america, are beset by GANGS! Who recruit young people from society to deal drugs and create chaos and death. This is the main thread of rap music! Which is also a major disease in the world!! The big record companys should be fined billions of dollars, for helping to bring this disease to the planet. And for profiting from it. Gang mentalitys, rap music, which is a disease worse than aids, and prison mentalitys, need to be seriously curtailed! They are starting to remove the cell phones from the prisoners. This is great news, therefore they will no longer be able to run their drug empires from within the prisons. The minds of young people have been allowed by this decadent and immoral society to be raped! It is high time we put and end to it! These evil mentalitys steal the lives and minds of our young people, just as credit card companys steal the lives of all of our citizens.Rap music creates gansters and sagging, Gansters fill the prisons to overflowing, gansters create more young people to be on drugs, more gangsters in other countries, send more drugs to america. They wish to poison the minds of our young people and therefore overthrow our country!!!!!!! The drug moneys buy more drugs and weapons, to kill many in their countrys and overthrow their governments. yes outwardly to the uninformed, sagging might seem a fashion statement. But in reality it is an outward sign of a national disease that will destroy the country if it is left to go unchecked!!! Gang leaders should be executed! And any one who takes over the drug trade or gangs should be executed! Until no other is willing to risk their life to continue this abominational disease. The best way to get rid of a cancer is to kill it by any means!
yupyup and this (GANGSTA) if you will, fights for your rights to say such stupid things! Here lady take my m-4 and go fight for the fashion police!
Geez, why ya gotta bring James Dean into it? some people wear baggy pants but ypu wear BOSSY pants
This could be illegal and its pretty much a stupid law. I am 19 and live in California so maybe I dont know what the rules are over there but they should pretty much be the same thing in dress code as over here. And if the police chief is putting attention in this he should look in a mirror and see how he dresses, I am pretty sure that not every body likes that type of style. Lets think about the Pachuco style, people wearing that were just expressing where they came from and it was a style of their own and yet they where singled out by the law and beated by sailors who got awey with it most of the time. Now if we look at this style, it does not offend anybody and there are millions of people that dress that way and I am pretty sure that is someone saggs it doesnt consider them gangsters of meen that they are going to be doing anything badd and if the police chief is doing it because he does not want to be looking at peoples underwear why is he looking that low for, they are dressing like that because its a look, a fashion that has been around for centuries. I think that the chief shold look good at his actions or just get a life because if he doesnt want to see underwear then he shouldnt alow bathing suit magazines to be sold there either or how bout in stores, should the images in front of the undergarments be censored because of some guy who thinks he could do wathever he wants because he was gaved a little more power. I think this is more of a thing that he is trying to show that he has power and wants to excet it, now lets think about how Hitler was, making jews dress a certain way can we call the Chief trying to be a dictador now. Hail Dicks! Lets go ahead and let people do wathever they want like Bush lied to us and now everybody is suffering because of high gas prices and unemployment. These type of people should be stoped before they get power crazy and do wathever they want.
Way to go I mean talk about gross not to mention disrepectful too In earlier years woman were arrested for indesent eposure for swimming suits that were to risque why not guys with there butts hanging out.
Go Cops
Welcome to the Brave New World where how high you wear your pants is more important than having the police do their real job which is to catch dangerous criminals and protect citizens from harm. No one has the right to dictate a persons personal appearance based on their own opinion and prejudices and disguise it as the law. And this is nothing new. Growing up in the south in the 1960-70s and wearing my hair down to my shoulders and clothing such as my favorite pair of "flag pants" got me harassed and singled out for close scrutiny on a regular basis. So I know this kind of prejudice first hand. Leave those of us who choose to have a unique or current style of dress alone and go catch some bad guys for a change.
UNIQUE??? That's humorous. Even the article states that it is a trend that originated in prison. There's nothing unique or fashionable about it. It looks ridiculous, and it subjects the rest of us to some very unsavory images. I teach high school, and I wish like hell that Georgia would inact something similar. Maybe sagging is not the worst of Flint's issues, but it looks like one less it will have to deal with!
I hate to have to break this news to you, Amra, but our country was founded by a population of people that included a high percentage of former British jail inmates. And if you are really concerned about what is destroying our once great nation then get involved with making a change in the people who are running it.
I love it, as a flint town native I think its great, I just wonder what these idiots who normally where there pants half way down to their ankles are going to to with the free hand from not having to hold them up while they walk,
Way to go Mr. Dicks, if I were a lawyer I would represent you for free against the ACLU or any other organization.
