How quickly we have forgotten that less than 40 years
ago African Americans were treated like subhuman. Many were beaten or killed because they looked at someone the wrong way. In some cases these criminal acts went unpunished because they were judged by all white juries. We have come a long way since then, but we can not discount a persons life experiences when trying to understand where they are coming from and some of the things they say.
