Christians believe in the ten commadments, one of them which states,"You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour."
Or do we have to do selective reading of the good BOOK when dealing with those we do not like?

True Christians will show how the believe by the way they live. To many are not true Christians.

The article by Dominique Moisi was truly inspiring. "You have become like a barometer of our relative decline. Yet, for the first time in modern French history, we no longer feel we need to oppose you in order to assert our identity." Wouldn't it be modern if every country, including the United States shared such sentiments, whether it be a small country or a large one, a declining one or a rising one. What would it be like if every country could assert its identity, its needs, its agenda without cutting down another? It is better to dream than to be certain that hell awaits.

???The nature of politics is that you want to have everybody like you and project the best possible traits onto you,??? Obama says. ???Oftentimes, that???s by being as vague as possible, or appealing to the lowest common denominators."

pearson, why not print the full paragraph:

???The nature of politics is that you want to have everybody like you and project the best possible traits onto you,??? he says. ???Oftentimes, that???s by being as vague as possible, or appealing to the lowest common denominators. The more specific and detailed you are on issues as personal and fundamental as your faith, the more potentially dangerous it is. The difficult thing about any religion, including Christianity, is that at some level there is a call to evangelize and proselytize. There???s the belief, certainly in some quarters, that if people haven???t embraced Jesus Christ as their personal savior, they???re going to hell."

The article is a Obama's comparason of politicans to religion and how he lives w/ both.

One more piece of pro-Obama infotainment fom Newsweek.

    YAWWWWN.

When will they get some balanced reporting?

BTW Harley, Obama has changed his position on things for no reason other than a change in his constituency.

When Obama was running for state office, he courted the Palestinian-Americans in his district with anti-Israel rhetoric, but as soon as he decided to run for national office, he suddenly started spouting pro-Israel blah blah blah, and told his Palestinian friends that he would be able to speak out and support their interests once he got elected.

Reverend Wright had it right - Obama will say and do whatever he thinks he needs to say and do in order to get elected and gain power. Only then will Americans and the world find out what his real positions are on anything.

    Scary.

As far as pictures are concern, they can be taken anywhere and someone states it was at a certain event when it's not. I well question everything. I even question Obama, and so far he has answered my questions just fine.

Or maybe it was removed because Obama is "washing" sites he doesn't want people to see, the same way he washed his Florida campaign site of all reference to his "Democrat for a day" campaign during the primaries.

Obama has a bunch of computer nerds shaping his profile on the internet. The quotes were from one of Obama's Palestinian American friends in legitimate newspapers, not second hand reportage and opinion. .
Here's what Ali Abunimah said about Obama's Palestine/Israel flip flop:

"Obama's about-face is not surprising. He is merely doing what he thinks is necessary to get elected and he will continue doing it as long as it keeps him in power. Palestinian-Americans are in the same position as civil libertarians who watched with dismay as Obama voted to reauthorize the USA Patriot Act, or immigrant rights advocates who were horrified as he voted in favor of a Republican bill to authorize the construction of a 700-mile fence on the border with Mexico."

  • Posted By: thehappyamerican @ 07/21/2008 7:21:16 AM

Obama should stay over seas. The DNC has their Americans Suck First banner which Obama embraces, the same banner that has the DNC's approval with the congress down to single digits! This banner don't fly well here in the USA. The USA is where the voters are.
We need better than just Americans Suck First speech making. We get plenty of that from a Congress that has lost it's credibility.
Be sceptic of spun news articles brimming with the inevitability of Obama in the White House. The Inevitability cloak didn't do Hillary a lot of good, either! it's a long way to November!

    • Posted By: Isabella38 @ 07/22/2008 7:35:40 AM

Hate to point out the obvious, but Congress is made up of both Democrats and Republicans. What America is fed up with is the Democrats and Republicans fighting each other, and not willing to put their differences aside to come together to get something done. They feel they care only for their party, and not this country.

  • Posted By: HopeinAmerica @ 07/22/2008 9:38:51 AM

The worries expressed by willnotvoteobama are all imaginary, they are all in the mind and are psychological. The complaints about the media being biased are all imiginary and psychological. We know that hope is real should find a way of helping our few fellow citizens in the other campaign who have found out that their campaign is run by very well meaning whinners.
America is and has always been a land of hope, a land of oppotunity and a land of freedom. America has always acted as a light in a uncertain world. America won the cold war without firing a shot. OBAMA knows that goodwill for America will do more for American security than brute force. McBUSH may not say it but from the whinning in the campaign recognition may be setting in that their world view may be naive! Every American enjoyed the eight years of President CLINTON, OBAMA promises more of the same. Those who like horror movies may be wishing for more of the same hooror that has been the Bush Eighty.

    • Posted By: Dr. Snort @ 07/23/2008 1:32:17 PM

Weren't Korea and Vietnam a part of the cold war? Or were they just dominoes? What exactly is a whinner?

Grumpy Old Man, that was a very intelligent post and I agree with most of what you had to say. There is one aspect of your post that I would like to comment on, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, I will tell you that I totally disagree with what the Reverend Wright espoused from the pulpit, how ever one must take into account his life experience???s on why he has a lot of this hostility. How quickly we have forgotten that less than 40 years
ago African Americans were treated like subhuman. Many were beaten or killed because they looked at someone the wrong way. In some cases these criminal acts went unpunished because they were judged by all white juries. We have come a long way since then, but we can not discount a persons life experiences when trying to understand where they are coming from and some of the things they say. As I said at the beginning I do not agree what the Reverend Wright has said, but I can sympathize why he feels the
    way he feels

    • Posted By: Dr. Snort @ 07/23/2008 1:01:50 PM

FYI: Wright, I'm quite certain, attended one of the best high schools in Philly (mostly white) and had other priviliges many blacks ony could wish for.

      • Posted By: HopeinAmerica @ 07/23/2008 1:14:17 PM

How dare he best "hard working Americans...... this ... Wright/"

    • Posted By: Galasso @ 07/22/2008 2:21:23 PM

I would imagine Wright perfectly miserable in his multimiliion dollar mansion in a gated, all white community - and the two $100k Mercedes Benz parked in the garage are hard to endure. Wright likely never believed all of the venom he spewed - he was playing a role for mega bucks to an audience who voraciously enjoyed it. Wright is no different from the pious religious scam artists on television who used to bilk listeners and viewers out of social security checks and what scant resources they had. Wright is living large - the ten million dollar "loan" - was good for retirement and he is enjoying all of the attention. Most people saw him as a demon and blasphemous - while he looked at the rest of us as fools and is laughing all the way to the bank. He is a very talented and successful snake oil salesman and like PT Barnum said "There is a sucker born every minute."

      • Posted By: valesj @ 07/22/2008 2:38:56 PM

Galasso, not sure if Wright is making 100 million or not, although I doubt that.
However that doesn???t change the facts as to what he might have had to endure
growing up in a society that at the time treated some of it???s citizens worse than they
would a dog. Even those that have risen in spite of the racism of our country like Colin Powell and others have their stories of being treated in less than a humane way. Let???s not forget to quickly. What really amazes me is when a person who has never experienced racism to call someone who has a racist.

        • Posted By: News and Notes @ 07/22/2008 2:45:19 PM

Galasso did not call Wright a racist, and defending Wright is not going to help Obama. Most of us don't know Wright personally, but he is extremely wealthy and just built a mansion in an exclusive white neighborhood. It would appear that Wright has capitalized on the suffering of blacks, as has Jesse Jackson.

Bla balh balh again. I have one important question for everyone.
When you have the support of 35% of Whites, 65% of Hispanics, 94% of Blacks, 80% of foreign born citizens, what happens in an American election?
ANSWER: You win by a landslide. Sorry, McDepression supporters, no smear will do this time. And by the way, I was very generous with McCain't on the aforementioned figures.

    • Posted By: Dr. Snort @ 07/23/2008 12:52:38 PM

I wouldn't rely on these numbers...yet. Recall both Kerry and Gore held nominal leads at this juncture yet both "lost."

    • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 07/22/2008 6:06:57 PM

And so the current statistical tie is because......????

Obama won't win. He invited the republicans to pick the democratic nominee. Is it surprising they picked the weakest one?

The political leadership of Europe exists at the will of the people of their respective countries. If an American President is popular with the people of Europe it makes it much easier to gain the assistance of European governments for NATO and American initiatives.

    More NATO troops in Afghanistan?
    More international help in Darfur?

If we want to gain real international coalitions in curbing terror or stopping genocide it is far easier if the people of democratic countries are supportive of our President.
European leaders have to meet with US Presidents but the people don't have to turn out to see a Presidential candidate. The fact that they will is an incredibly powerful image and statement that gives a clear signal to the German, French and British leadership that the folks who elect them are not going to toss them our if they suppor any intitiative supported by Obama.

This isn't about some selfish rock star bullshit. It's about an uncommonly well informed electorate turning out to show support for an uncommonly popular US politician. It is a stark contrast with John McCain and Republicans.

US arrogance really pisses off Europeans and Obama's willingness to address the German, French and British people - to visit with them and speak to them directly is not only advisible - it is imperative.

I can't believe anyone would see this as a negative outside of reactionary Republicans who should rightfully be scared shitless of how powerful this move is. McCain couldn't fill a beer garden with free beer and a polka band.

Republicans 2 things to offer What to FEAR and Who to BLAME Ja ist Herr, Obama amerikanischer Wahrer Oberbefehlshaber

    JA KÖNNEN WIR OBAMA 08

Dems, like Obama, have 5 specific Americans they blame for all ills in the USA. And because of this AMERICANS SUCK FIRST campaign they wage , aided and assisted by the US news Networks, the DNC has run it's approval into the dirt . Obama can not distance himself from his party no matter what he says from one day to the next.
Republicans don't fear or spread fear. It's the DNC that spread fear and distrust and they are paying the price for it ... and Obama will, too! It's the elected DNC party members who fear that their AMERICANS SUCK FIRST campaign has worn it's self out because they never have tryd to be constructive or positive.Thats not how the DNC apparatus has worked in over thirty years!

How it has operated is set up 5 Americans in lose catagories and attack, smear, grind, libel, insult...and THAT'S DNC social and political "progress" in a nut shell!
If you want Obama to win you must contact elected DNC office holders and insist that they begin to create conditions for an Obama victory in November.
See if they will listen to you!
      And good luck!
They WILL know what you are talking about. They DON'T know how to go about it!

BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA BOUGHT MAINSTREAM MEDIA.

Obama might BUY the MEDIA, the DNC and Mile High Stadium --- but he can???t BUY ???middle of the road???! THIS SMALL-TOWN, MIDDLE-CLASS, BLUE COLLAR WORKER KNOWS WHAT BHO IS!

TOWN HALL MEETINGS vs PREPARED SPEECHES! HE WON???T MEET WITH AMERICANS AND LET US ASK QUESTIONS --- BUT HE MEETS WITH EUROPEANS --- THEY CAN???T VOTE FOR OUR PRESIDENT!

The reason BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA REFUSES TOWN HALL MEETINGS is because Obama does better dancing around the crowds with ???PREPARED??? speeches and teleprompters, where he doesn???t have to answer American people???s concerns or ???unprepared??? questions. OBAMA IS ONLY A PREACHER (OR DICTATOR).

JOHN McCAIN prefers TOWN HALL MEETINGS because the PEOPLE OF AMERICA will have a chance to ask questions that concern them and they need to get some answers.

Candidates get closer to hear the people???s needs. UNPREPARED QUESTIONS --- UNPREPARED ANSWERS.

HOW MUCH IS THIS 300-PERSON ENTOURAGE COSTING TAXPAYERS?

    It???s a no-brainer:

McCAIN IS THE RIGHT MAN FOR PRESIDENT OF THE USA.

    • Posted By: Eire52 @ 07/22/2008 8:13:32 AM

There really is no point trying to refute each of your ridiulous points, but there are a few that stand out:

      1) The taxpayers do not pay for Sen Obama's 300 advisors. Anyone who is on his staff, is paid by his campaign. Just as Senator McCain pays those who are on his staff. (And who says that all 300 are full-time paid staff anyway - highly doubtful that all of them are).

      2) Sen Obama has done pletntyof town halls. (I'm sure a clever person like you already knows that). And know doubt, there will be many more in the future. It really is not Senaot Obama's fault that Sen McCain is a terrible speaker

      3) . Sen Obama 'buying' the meia? You have proof of this of course - irrefutable proof. Othersie - why would you say it?

      4) You are a total and complete idiot!!!!!!!!

      • Posted By: jh35180 @ 07/22/2008 4:47:26 PM

Eire52 sounds like another typical Obama supporter with their elementary school insults. By calling someone an idiot you expose how simple that you really are. If you think that you will win over some of us to MR. CHANGE AD NAUSEAM then you are indeed living in a dream world. Grow up.

Who really care what the British think of the candidate. This is American election and what is important is what the American people think. Plain and simple. Probably next article the Newsweek will come out with is the dead people admire Mr. Obama too.
