Torture as part of US policy... Karma... Should Bush and Cheney be impeached or just brought to trial for war crimes in the World Court in The Hague? That would be justice for us, for the dummies who still think the GOP has a prayer in hell's chance of winning the White House this Fall.

Kiss your Arseholes goodbye, they are not going to be re-elected this year.

Obama is leading Bush and McSame down the path that makes the most sense - which is one he always said was the right way to extricate from Iraq: on about a 16-month timetable. Now the Iraqis even want us out of their country and who could blame them. We'd have a bloddy FIT if anyone came and bombed our major cities and caused all sorts of havoc, and dug our President out of a hole and had him hung while cell phones recorded it.

I think sometimes it's our Karma - we will finally get the leader we all deserve - and he will bring peace and prosperity to the world, once he digs us out of the terrible hell-hole that the GOP leadership has put us in.

Good luck to the non-believers, the detractors and the idiots of this country who still can't see the LIGHT.

Obama is already leading. He's going to be official in January after he wins in November. It's a done deal.

Obama needs only to master throttling or braking 5 DNC discrimination campaigns as too much heat, and the discrimination becomes too obvious. Not enough speed and the desired discrimination against gun owners, achievers, christians, police and the military won't occur.
These have nothing to do with foreign policy and in that regard he's a goof ball.
His primary task as President of the USA for the DNC will be to regulate the tempo and speed of the DNC's pet discrimination campaigns AGAINST AMERICANS and ensure each campaign is at proper adjustment as the political winds will reguir over time!
I'm glad he is going to see US troops face to face! There are a lot of Americans he should meet and talk with face to face where ever they are...
...like the people his party runs discrimination campaings against!
But instead he seeks the Rock Star crowd out, and other groups who will, for a nickle, insist he is a geniuse! A healer! A this and a that!
My guess is this trip does not enhance his approval in the race here in the USA.
Obama is delinquent in meeting and talking with the people who make this country work and getting away from the AMERICANS SUCK FIRST bandwagon that is the DNC. And not changing at all!

President Bush's so called "General Time Horizon" Eyed For Troop Cuts
    in Iraq

General Timeline: Bush calls his a "General Time Horizon" what a Joke !!!

Its a set time of Withdrawal.....Man Oh Man Oh Man !!!

    Like Obama has said !!

CBS/ AP) The United States and Iraq have agreed to seek "a General Time Horizon" for deeper reductions in American combat troops in Iraq.

    AKA a General Timeline

Bush and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki talked about the timing issue as part of discussions over a broader security agreement to keep American troops in Iraq after a U.N. mandate expires on Dec. 31.

The White House says the two leaders, in a conversation on Thursday, agreed that the accord should include a "General Time Horizon" for meeting aspirational goals, such as the resumption of Iraqi security control in their cities and provinces and the further reduction of U.S. combat forces from Iraq."

Iraq has proposed requiring U.S. forces to fully withdraw 5 years after the Iraqis take the lead on security nationwide - though that precondition could take years to meet.

Earlier this month, Iraq's national security adviser, Mouwaffak al-Rubaie, said Baghdad would not accept any security deal unless it contains specific DATES for the withdrawal of U.S.-led forces. Al-Maliki also has said he expects the pending troop deal with the United States to have some type of timetable for withdrawal.

Note: "I won't go so far as to say that progress in Iraq from a Military Perspective has reached a Tipping Point or is Irreversible, it has not, and it is not," Mullen said. "But security is unquestionably and remarkably better. Indeed, if these trends continue I expect to be able early this fall to recommend to the secretary and the president further troop reductions."

Defense Secretary Robert Gates said officials are looking for ways to send additional U.S. troops to Afghanistan this year. A cutback in Iraq could clear the way for more troops to go to Afghanistan.

The White House statement said the reduction in U.S. forces in Iraq was "a testament to the improving capacity of Iraq's Security Forces and the success of joint operations that were initiated under the new strategy put in place by the president and the prime minister in January 2007."

John McCain: "I Know how to Win Wars"

What War was John McCain a part of ?

McCain was a POW in Viet Nam, he was Never, Ever a part of a Successful War, unless his Semi-Senile ole A## is counting Viet Nam as a Success !!! Name a War Strategy Implemented that McCain Created and then Match it with a Successful War ?

You can't...McCain is Too Old !!

    Prersidents should be 45 - 59 Years of age, No Older....Period !!

With All of John McCain's So Called an Self Professed "Military Experience" and with the Frequent Travels to Iraq,

Why has'nt General Patraeus Endorsed John Mccain, it seems to me, Patraeus would've Endorsed McCain a very long time ago, based on Mccain's Many Flights to Iraq and Mccain having such a Grand Military History as well as a Grand Military family background ?

Yet General Patraeus People Demaded that McCain STOP USING his Likeness (Pictures) in his campaign !!!

Thats a Bad Sign for McCain

John McCain is so Old that he's completely Forgotten, that he has No True "Military Expertise" otherthan being a Viet Nam Prisoner of War, who was given Preferential Treatment and Devulged Confidential Military Information, to the Enemy (Viet Cong) and Never lead Any Group, nor has John McCain Implemented Any Military Strategies that were ever utilized in a Successful War Campaign...Ever !!!

Thats Not Funny, Thats Very Sad, Honest, Truthful, Factual and Sad, that John McCain continues to Imply and Insinuate otherwise to the American Populus and to the World, that he's a "War Hero" when he Never saved Any Lives. He also Wished that he could've Endured and Witheld "Confidential & Classified Information, like that of his Fellow POW...

Thats Sad and definitely Not Funny....Old Man... McCain

    You are Not Ron-ald Wil-son Rea-gan, (Mr.666 Himself)

At least Reagan was an Actor who could remember his lines, he acted all the way through his Presidency and did it with ease, Until the Alzheimers Disease, got the better of him...

Sorry McCain, the Teleprompter, will never be your Friend and those Pathetic attempts at Joking, those punchlines are as old an Stale as Your 72 yr Old A## !!!

Bush Jr. says there will be "No Time Table for Withdrawal"....

Bush, Today says there will be a "Time Horizon"

Bush said he'll never Negoiate with iran....

Now Bush is having Direct talks with Iran and also N. Korea...The So called "Axis Of Evil" !!!

Bush and Great Britain are planning a Withdrawal from iraq, before Obama's 16-18 Month, proposed Withdrawal from Iraq.

Iraq's President Agrees with Obama's Timetable, while USA President Bush and Prime Minister Brown are trying to beat Obama to the punch in 2009, though it helps Obama, based on Mccain's Policy, of staying in Iraq, indefinitely, as in Germany, Japan and S. Korea. Which is a Long Time.

Note: General Patraeus has yet to Endorse Mr. Military Man, the Man "Who knows How to Win Wars" though he's Never Won a War ...Mr. John McCain.

Its General Patraeus who Demanded McCain's Campaign to Stop using his Pictures or likeness in his Campaign.

John "I know how to Win Wars" Mccain

    John "Song Bird" McCain

Thats what the Viet Cong Branded McCain as...."Their Song Bird"

McCain and his Over 32 Viet Cong Propoganda Message, Now Permanently Sealed in Washington.

John Mccain, the True Manchurian Candidate !!!!!

Vote for Talk War, With No Substance...John McCain !!!!

Obama Abroad comments for the most part are written by diehard liberals. You comment writers worship at Obama throne, he can do not wrong...What can he do? Wooing foreign leaders as an American presidential candidate is distasteful to say the least.

Obama is putting on a political show and many Americans are not seeing past the facade.

    • Posted By: akatz @ 07/19/2008 9:56:32 PM

Sorry, ConservativeChick, but you're just reaping the whirlwind.

      What he's doing is "distasteful"?

He's just doing -exactly- what you and your man McCain insisted he should do! Now you don't like it?

      Tough.

  • Posted By: Cantabrigian @ 07/19/2008 6:35:43 PM

Obama's trip abroad is nothing more than a photo-op, and bullets are a small risk to deal with in his quest fueled by his burning desire to be president. His faithful following of news media will be trailing him like lap dogs. The media will also guarantee their reporting is sugar coated, non-critical, and forget any analysis about the content of what Obama will be preaching to the troops. What an ***!

    • Posted By: mrzoid @ 07/19/2008 7:39:07 PM

If you dont have a burning desire to be President , you should not be running for the possition.

      • Posted By: akatz @ 07/19/2008 9:54:58 PM

        I love it!

McCain forced Obama into this trip and now his supporters are so very, very pi$$ed that he's doing it!

Remember the RNC's countdown clock, berating Obama minute-by-minute for how long it's been since he's been to Iraq? You guys made this bed, now you'll have to lay in it.

        Payback is a b*tch, isn't it? :-)

  • Posted By: akatz @ 07/19/2008 9:46:28 PM

I fear that you have missed your point.
You have broken down all thinking about foreign policy into "idealist" and "conservative" while missing the most important points of Obama's approach to international issues: thoughtful and reasoned. Unlike either the idealists or conservatives, he doesn't bring an ideology to his thinking. Perhaps his only ideology is to create a world that's safe in which no one is starving or dying of curable disease.

Like most pundits, you are having a bit of difficulty assessing a candidate who doesn't conform to traditional pigeonholes like "left" and "right".

It's been so long since this nation was governed with intelligence and nuance.

Excellent article - Fareed Zakaria, you are my favorite writer for Newsweek! I read your article about the rest of the world developing and other super powers or at least early powers emerging, things going pretty well for the world as a whole... I know I'm not doing it any justice in my recap here, but it shed a great deal of light on things that I hadn't really been aware of before. I enjoy reading your columns in the print edition very much!

On Obama, I'm very optimistic and realistic that he will be the BEST commander-in-chief and global leader for the US as we move into a new era - the world is evolving due to economic growth and there is much happening that deserves to be allowed to change with a US leadership who is "nuanced" and aware of complexity - rather than the opposite, which we've had for the last eight years.

I think the world will appreciate it so much if the US elects Obama as our president. I hope and pray it comes to pass rather than our electing another two-dimensional man who sees the world in much the same terms as his simple-minded predecessor. Obama seems to be able to assimilate a multi-dimensional approach to foreign policy and by virtue of his brains he should be able to keep the US more in "synch" with the rest of the world, positioning American once again as a shining example of liberty and democracy, rather than despatching troops to enforce such ideals across the Middle East and anywhere else along the "Axis of Evil".

I realize that you wish for a more democratic society in the Middle EAst - and certainly we all hope for peace there. But allowing a democratic evolution to happen in its own time is better, perhaps, than forcing it on a nation through violence, death and destruction. But what do I know - I'm just an armchair American citizen with so much luck in my life I feel like a hog. Especially when I see what my own country's policies have produced in IRaq - millions of HOMELESS, DISPLACED FAMILIES (our so-called "Family Values" apparently only apply to the US Citizens, and be damned all the rest...) and countless civilian deaths and injuries. I hope it proves worthwhile some day, but for now, I'm so ashamed of my leaders that I am scared to travel abroad (also trying to save on my hydrocarbon footprint)....

So I hope and pray that we get back to our "roots" and vote for an intelligent, articulate and intellectually superior leader who is also human and who can appeal to a global citizenry as much as he can appeal to the vast majority of Americans who do, in fact, have their hearts and heads in the right place - even if our policies hardly reflect the electorate's character and disposition at the present moment in history.

You say you can discern in interviews that Fareed is an Obama supporter, and even if this is true, it doesn't make the content of his article any less true. He is a professional and will put forth a thoughtful analysis no matter who he supports.

  • Posted By: mrzoid @ 07/19/2008 7:46:38 PM

Im at a loss. First, McCain criticizes Obama for never having gone to the warzones, and now hes criticizing Obama for going over there? Mabey McCain should be focusing on his own solutions to our many problems while Obama is globetrotting around. Mabey McCain can come up with a economic plan that makes a little sense, or an energy policy that does more than put a smiley face on the crisis staring us down, or perhaps how to keep millions of illegal immigrants from coming to our country each year. If any of those are issues you care about, you know he doesnt have solutions for any of them. Not that Obama does.

Nations around the World including Germany are Excited to See Barack Obama.....

Watch the Masses in each Country, that come out to see this Man...Watch and See !!

Visiting Countries is not something you have to EARN...If that were the Case, what was John McCain doing in Columbia or Mexico ...Hmmmm as well as Visiting Iraq an confusing Shia & Sunni for Muslim Extremist or Al-Queda !!

McCain Scolds obama on not visiting Iraq, yet has Not Visited Afghanistan, in Over 2 Years !!

Yet McCain says "He Knows how to Win Wars" when in Fact, McCain has NEVER been Involved in a Successful War Campaign as a Naval Pilot or having a War Strategy or Formula Implemented...Ever

So Much for McCain's "War Experience" and his "Knowledge On Winning Wars"

I Did'nt know that Viet Nam was a Successful War Effort ? I thought we Lost that War and thats why the Viet Nam Nation is Still (Communist)

Note: And in Spite of it all, The USA still does Big Business in, Still Very Communist, Yet Now Capitalist .....Viet Nam !!!

McCain went to London, No Hoopla !!

McCain also went to Iraq under... Heavily Gaurded & Armed Security.

Though McCain Lied to Wolf Blitzer and said, a Person could Walk the Streets without Security and that general Patraeus wealks the streets without Heavily Armed Security, until the following day, General Patraeus Staff Dispelled Such BLATANT & FLAGRANT LIES !!
