Well, most criminals are a flight risks, aren't they?

Global overreach, militant theology, diminishing resources and escalating debt -- these are the failing that have contributed to the fall of every empire of the past thousand years. The Romans, the Spanish, the French, the Dutch, the British -- all suffered from these ills and all to more than a century to recover from their colonial economies. The US citizenry suffer from imperialism while those in power reap the rewards. Why do you think we have troops station in more than a hundred countries? Why is the US embassy in Bagdad 26 acres -- larger than all of Vatican City? Does it really take more square footage to secure the green zone than to run the entire Catholic Church if we plan on leaving in just a few years? The injustices and political differences that precipitated the Civil War were less than those we face today. But while the war between the states was neatly divided in most instances along geographic boundaries, the next war will be block by block and house by house. The US militaries efforts in Iraq are less about securing that country and more about combat training for the days ahead at home. Why does the army already have former bases designated as emergency detention centers for hundreds of thousands of detainees? Why does the US have the highest rate of incarceration in the world with more than one in ever hundred Americans behind bars? Why can we no longer hold a fair election or trust the results? If you think the two incumbant parties of permanent power and greed are going to peacefully concede the reigns to the people, you are truly naive.

It is time for the American citizenry to get off their butts and get involved in "OUR" country.
We see the results of trusting Crooks like George W. Bush and his co-horts.
We cannot ever let another mistake like "BUSH" if this happens we are all in Big trouble !!!!

Our Founding Fathers also knew how to keep the more violent and radical people in check. Marching on D.C. with guns would be a disaster so maybe you should just go cool off a bit and actually think things through. You can't restore law and order to our country through radical violence. The first step in restoring the balance of powers is to DEMAND that congress call to account every single criminal act that's been committed in the past 7+ years. The second step is to vote the right wing conservatives out of office.

If you want to turn the American people against you then radical talk about "pick(ing) up a gun" is a good start. If you want to restore our Constitution and the balance of powers then it's going to have to be done in a non-violent and lawful way. Keep in mind that a radical revolution would probably just lead to either mob rule or another tyrant like Napolean (read about the French revolution). If you let your violent passions rule then nothing will be accomplished. Our Founding Fathers KNEW this. They kept the violent mobs in line.

Wake up America. If the founding fathers (and mothers) were alive today, they would be organzing in their basements to overthrow this corrupt government as the Constitution demands when the citizens are overrun by tyranny. Complain all you want, but the time is coming when you should put down your protest sign and pick up a gun.

My main dissatisfaction with Congress is their lack of will in going after these criminals. If they can't trust the DOJ to take action then they need to use inherent contempt. They are supposed to represent us and provide oversight to the Executive branch. Instead they simply seem afraid to do anything.
Grow a spine and kick some butt.

This individual represents the prime example of the "Haves and the Have-Nots". For the last 8 years and
well before that, this is a superbly planned conspiracy of greed and averice.

When arer the American people going to stand up ,or wake up???

Just what is wrong with our system of jurisprudence? Since when could anyone ignore a subpoena? It has always been that subpoenas are legal writs that must be responded to. I believe only extreme illness or death may be the only reasons a subpoena is not responded to. It does not mean that the miscreant who fails to answer a subpoena has to asnswer questions, but he has to be there to say I refuse to answer that question.
A case in point, a few years ago I received a court document that I had to fill out for of all things, jury duty. In the process of preparing to go for an extended vacation, I failed to fill out the request. After I returned couple of months later, and before I picked up and went through my mail, a process server was at my door. After my explanation was brought before the powers that be I was given a reprieve. Now if they come after someone for not filling a jury application document, why are they not going after people who feel they do not have to respond to subpoenas?

Karl Rove's lack of respect for Congress and America should not be tolerated in any way. I am not a Democrat, just a very sad and angry citizen who can't believe what this nation has been reduced to. It reminds me of Nero fiddling as Rome burns around him. This time however, Rove is laughing all the way to the bank, thumbing his nose at the Constitution and the citizens of this country as it slowly falls apart (thanks in no small part to him and his cohorts).

I'm pretty sure she was reading a different job description when she applied for the one she has now.

Why should Karl Rove be held to a different standard than the rest of us? I am also extremely contemptuous of Congress (and Karl Rove). It's long past due for Nancy to grow a set. I'm pretty sure she was reading a different job description when she applied for the one she has now. She enjoys all the perks but seems to assume very little responsibility when it's needed the most.

Why should Karl Rove be held to a different standard from the rest of us? I am extremely contemptuous of Congress right now(almost as much as Karl Rove). But Congress seems to have a knack right now of bringing contempt upon themselves. Past time for Nancy to grow a set. She seems to have read the wrong job description when she applied for the one she has now.

its gonna o be funny when Iraq and most of europe files war criminal charges against Bush, Rove and Cheney. I hope they end up like Saddam.

  • Posted By: ChristianEcon.com @ 07/19/2008 10:42:20 PM

Is he really going to get away with this??

  • Posted By: Heartlight3 @ 07/19/2008 10:36:14 PM

It looks like the issue of executive privilege will end up before the Supreme Court. The only problem with that is that the Supreme Courts seems to have become an arm of the Bush Administration, and I don't have any confidence that they would not support Bush's position.

I am tired of politicians feeling that they are above the law to which any citizen is subject. As a teacher, I am enraged that we try to teach our students morals and ethics, but our government spits in the face of any notion of decency in this case. As a democrat, I am only *now* really starting to feel true anger. Let's give the Republicans a circus and arrest Rove. Then we can talk "circus"...it's their choice.

  • Posted By: fedupwithhypocrisy @ 07/19/2008 10:18:08 PM

Give the Republicans political theater--arrest him. The American citizens who pay attention are fed up with this administration which refuses to recognize that congress is an equal branch, disgusted with a congress that has tolerated it, and enraged that these 'actors' are allowed to engage in behavior that is off-limits to the average taxpayer.
