Kids will tease kids no matter what the reason, most kids aren't going to complain to a teacher or guidance coulselor. The boy who shot Larry was raised by idiots, he clearly had no concept of right from wrong..he watched his parent fight, his dad hitting his mom and eventually his mother becoming a drug addict. Placing that child in his father (the wife beater with hand guns) custody was the worst mistake! Larry was troubled, he expressed himself, he teased others to make his point. He teased the wrong kid and that sucks, it's very sad that he died. The boy who shot him should be punished and so should his parents, they are as much at fault as he is.
For all you bible quoting hypocrite christians, answer this, if God excepts all then why would he not except a person for their sexual preference? You interpret the bible for what you want to believe. You judge others even though it states in the very bible you love to quote, that "thou shall not judge". Do you think homosexuality was such an issue back in the day when the bible was written that Jesus himself said, "hey, you know what, write down that being gay is wrong" "I will not judge, I except all of mankind...except gays".

To the rest of the idiots who are posting how being gay is wrong, or it's a choice etc. It is your type of ignorance that is the problem, it is ignorant people like you who are raising children to be unaccepting of others if they are different.
someone said that being gay is a choice, that it's not okay. So, it's not okay to make your own choices?
Do you "choose" who you are going to fall in love with? No, not usually. So what if someone is attracted to the same sex? Why is it a big deal? Why does it matter if gays marry? Do you think not letting them marry will stop them from being gay? The whoe thing is stupid.

Why did they move Larry into a horrible school full of trouble makers? He needed help dealing with his family issues.
The guidance counselor that he talked to wasn't wrong for talking to him, she understood him and that was probably a huge relief for him. She is not to blame for his death, the kid who shot him is to blame and so are that kids parents and no one else. The school can only be blamed for not stopping the teasing etc. but based on the fact that this school was full of deliquents the teachers probably had their hands full already and probably deal with teasing on a daily basis!
R.I.P. Larry, you didn't deserve to die at such a young age.

the teasing goes both ways.Larry retaliated because nothing was being done. That goes for the fat kid kid being teased or the poor kid being teased and bullied. As soon as they fight back it their fault.

They should be blaming Larry for his own death, if Brandon had committed suicide because of the harassment, they would blame Larry for that. While I do believe Brandon ultimately holds the guilt, Larry should be held responsible for his part in his own death.

And how stupid to say, "Why do we have youngsters that have access to guns?" If he didn't have access to a gun, it would have been a knife or a weed eater or whatever else he could have gotten. If you are driven to kill, you will find a way!

Victims aren't always innocent, but murderers are always monsters because they KILL. They don't just "snap" or have "temporary insanity". Thay plan it, think about how they are going to do it, then they execute it. It's not manslaughter... it's not self-defense. It's not for the "greater good". Brandon could have beaten Larry senseless... but he didn't. He shot Larry in the head... twice. Not once... twice. He's a monster.

"So why does the victims always look all innocent and the murderers are always the monsters?Exsplain that to me please because I dont get it."

Being gay is against the nature of animalhood, even the animals do not engage in act of homosexuality, even though they are primitive and only satisfy thier bodily need, but human being has always gone astray, you can read about the people of Prophet Lot in the Quran, new or old testiment, I think homosexuality is a type of mental illness.

    • Posted By: politicalmind13 @ 07/21/2008 1:45:40 AM

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!!! HOMOSEXUALITY A MENTAL ILLNESS?? ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! How old are you and the other simple-minded idiot that's on here talking about mental illness? You are talking like we are in the 17th and 18th centuries when the drilled holes in people heads to release so-called "bad spirits". It's just ridiculous..in that case, HETEROSEXUALITY is a mental illness. Some of those sex acts that HETEROSEXUALS do are just immoral! Golden showers, sex with animals, and so forth! It's just condemning!! All heterosexuals need to be CAT scanned or something. It's just unthinkable what they do in bed! Now if you think that what I just said was stupid then think about what you just said! It don't make any sense..and i hope you don't place your simple-minded opinions on your friends...they must secretly hate you! Homosexuality is not a Mental illness...tell that to Shakespeare (where was his romeo hhmm?), Emily Dickerson, Langston Hughes, Alexander the Great, Bessie
Smith, Angelina Jolie, Michelle Rodrieguez, Socrates, Virginia Woolf, Susanne B. Anthony, and the list goes on. Learn, grow up, and be quiet sometimes.

No sympathy for Brandon here. What he did was premeditated, and any explanation for "why" is really just making excuses. We all know by 15 that it is not only illegal to kill someone, but also morally wrong, and *final*. If violence is the only tool Brandon's parents gave him for dealing with anger and frustration (evidenced by previous experiences on record), then they failed him--and should share the blame. But above all, this was Brandon's choice. He could have gone to school administrators to ask for help, just like Larry did, but chose to end the problem without availing himself of those resources, perpetuating his father's intolerant, inexcusable behavior. Pathetic. Send him away where he can't make the same excuses about killing someone the next time someone rubs him the wrong way.

    ORIGINAL MESSAGE LEFT:
    Homosexuality is wrong.
This is not diversity, this is perversity.
This is not hate of an individual this is repulsion at actions that are unnatural.
Homosexuals are human beings who need counceling to overcome there habits that fly in the face of what is normal male or female behavior.
Anyone that is tolerant of homosexuals should not be left with children to mold their lives to influence them. ie Principles of schools, Teachers, Religious Leaders, Councilors.
No one should be acceptable as a step parents or adoptive parent that is accepting of homosexuality. Acceptance of somesomthing unnatural is not going to promote anything but problems.
Natural Affection can be had between Males, Females, Children.
Homsexual relations this is where the problem lies.
So step back 100 years it was not acceptable. Why is it now? We need something better very soon.

For one, I just have to say that those of you who try and choose what is normal in this world are ignorant. Normal is only an opinion. What is "normal" to you, might be wrong in someone else's eyes. What is wrong in your eyes, might be totally "normal" in someone else's eyes. So who are you to try and make the world have exactly the same opinion as you. That is selfish and controlling. Being homosexual is not perverse. We live in a world of diversity. Deal with it. Everyone is putting their opinion in this, but some of us are being a bit disrespectful and ignorant I'd say. Homosexuals do not need counseling just because they are homosexual. And for another, I am totally outraged by people thinking that those of us who are accepting shouldn't be left with children. What kind of crap is that? As if I tell my little brother to be gay and that he should be. I cannot really tell you why homosexuality is accepted now, and it shouldn't really matter. We should accept all people. Rapists and murderers are the ones we should be paying attention to. Some of these comments left outraged me in every way. Especially this one. I cried when I read the story. It is terrible and the world is full of too much hate. THAT is where the problem "LIES." Not being a homosexual. And those of you who are religious and are hateful towards homosexuals are sinning themselves. You are to love your enemies. You aren't supposed to hate people. Don't believe in something if you can't stay true to it. Anything else, you can reach me at livelaughlove61@hotmail.com and my name is Natalie.

** Also pay attention to the fact that the shooter just walked away without acting like anything had happened. Maybe there was something wrong with him? Maybe he didn't shoot the boy because he was against homosexuality.

first of all Homosexuallity is not the only problem society has but in this case with Larry and Brandon it did seem to be the major problem.
second the individuals who are homosexual and those who find there activities acceptable are not nessisarily bad people but children should not be put in an environment that foster the belief and that is what it is just like religon the belief that homosexuality is natural because as i stated i do not beleive it is natural or should be condoned in anyway.

This murder could have been prevented. First, have the students wear school uniforms. Second, stop being politically correct and tell this kid to get back in the closet. He was obviously sexually harassing young boys at the school. Why didn't school officials step in then? I do not condone the use of a gun to execute this person for his action. Murder is not the answer. The other kid had problems as well. School needs to be a safe place to learn. Safe from all types of harassment. School uniforms are used all over the world in every other industrialized nations with great success. School should not be the place to cross dress, wear gang attire, droop your pants, or make any type of fashion statement. Maybe the young boy's droopy pants got this little sprite's hormones wearing party hats in the first place. It's okay to be gay, just don't wear a hat proclaiming your gay. I don't wear a hat saying I'm heterosexual. Patrick

obviously every one has there own opinion on this. why are you trying to prove yourselves right to everyone ?you shouldnt care wat others think especially if theyare going to be ignorantand not see it from your point of view

Larry may have harrassed and stalked Brandon, but it does not, in any way, justify him killing Larry. MURDER is MURDER.

It's a bit embarassing, but I too was stalked and taunted by a gay guy in highschool. Of course, my friends teased me about it. But I am sure of my sexuality. I knew I wasn't gay and so I wasn't bothered by the teasing. I made light of the situation and just told the person chasing me around that I'm not gay, and if I were... he wasn't my type (haha). I never thought "I guess the only way to get rid of my stalker is to MURDER him by shooting him in the head".

I'm not trying to be preachy, but it's our fault. We let this happen. Twenty, thirty, forty years ago... it wasn't as bad as it has been lately. Every couple of months, we hear about kids killing other kids. What's the difference between then and now? We had religion in our schools... whether it be Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, or others. Fundamentally, these religions have one thing in common... they teach us to respect and value life (except, of course, religious extremists who think anything they do is right as long as THEY believe it's God's will). Some genius thought it was a good idea to remove religion out of schools. Where will our kids learn about morality? Gym class? Oh wait a minute... I just realized that kids learn it from TV.

If they're not going to put religion back into our schools, somebody should figure out a way to instill the values that religion does in our kids. Otherwise, I don't think anything is going to change.

My heart goes out to both of these children and i pray that God is watching over both of them. I feel that blaming either child is disgusting and wrong, 14 is too young to even begin to comprehend the consequences of your actions . We as a nation are expressing tolerance and acceptance of gay americans everywhere especially in the media so it is no wonder why children are coming out of the closet. Larry was obviously an obnoxious teenage boy (as every teenager is)who had a rough childhood and obviously was severely misunderstood by many, and may have not even understood himself. He chose to make his personal life, less than personal. Brandon, who also had a less than perfect up-bringing and problems of his own, is still just a baby himself. No one but Brandon knows what drove him to intentionally murder Larry, but of course there is no reason to take a life because you were being taunted or teased. However, he is just a baby and like all teenagers the opinoins of others matter more than your own, and i feel that Brandon wasn't mentally mature enough to handle the situation at hand. I wish i could blame the classmates of both Larry and Brandon who brutally bullied both these boys and made what was suppose to be the best years of these kid's life a living hell. I wish i could look everyone one of them in the eye and let them know how disguted i am that they feel that they have the right to judge people, or the power to torture and ridicule people to the point where they snap like Brandon did. But unfortunately i can't blame these children because they too are only babies in this world. I feel that it is our duty as americans to let this be an eye opener and see that there is something wrong and that some action needs to be taken so that babies are killing babies.

I dont agree with Brandon shooting Larry in any way at all.The thing that does bother me about it is the fact that everyone seems to be looking past the fact that Larry was sexually harrassing Brandon(Larry's own father said that!)and no one would help Brandon out.He was being humiliated in front of EVERYONE from friends to teachers to any and everyone at school and no one would stop it.He's 14 years old and being sexually harrassed and not getting any help or support with it.How would you exspect that to end in any good way?Its like putting a big old bullseye on Larry and saying yea Brandon shoot him cause we dont wanna step on his rights as a gay kid in this school.Your young and imature and dealing with grown up matters on your own but we cant help you so we wont.Dont wanna get sued you know.Come on people.I dont believe in hate crimes.Matter fact thats one of the most stupid and redicolous and cowardly reasons to kill another human being Iv ever heard of.But I also think that everyone always looks past the victim in a case like this and automatically puts all or most of the blame on the murderer when they in some cases were deceived by the victim by them thinking they are kissing on or dating a woman to find out they have actually been kissing on or dating a man and never knew it so when they find out about it, they flip out.I dont blame them. They have a right to be pissed off. They were lied to and humiliated and forced to be gay without them knowing it (At least thats how they see it.) .No that doesnt give them the right to kill the person but it does give them a reasonable defense.Temporary Insanity.Yes I understand that wasnt the case here but to a certain exstent it was.He was being sexually harrased amd wasnt getting any help and being humiliated in front of EVERYONE and being teased by all the other kids.He wasnt being protected either. Both boys were let down by the school and parents and EVERYONE in this case.Brandon was 14 years old dealing with a grown up problem.Where was his help at?So why does the victims always look all innocent and the murderers are always the monsters?Exsplain that to me please because I dont get it.

There are many points to this story. The parents and teachers should have done more. But Larry shouldnt have harrast Brandon like that, but Brandon should have handled the situation different, its not like he didnt know what he was doing. Killing someone is not like shoplifting of something. But I undertand that he was being teased and his self esteem and reputation was drasticly decreasing and at that age it is important to kids to fit in but killing is never the answer. I do not think that being gay is wrong. Some people are just born differnt, and different is not bad, they say everyone has one perect person, who cares if they are the same sex, if they are happy people should leave them alone. And the reason that being gay is becoming ok is because the world is changing and becoming more modern and people are going to change too. And people that dont like that are going to have to deal with it cause this will never go away. They can try to fight it and say what ever they want but they will never win but they better be careful cause in the end it could back fire.

You would think that in a country that is so open to difference in this day and time that it's still close to the same differences. There are people who wait their entire lives to find themselves and this child was able to identify himself and be comfortable in his skin, granted he may have gone overbored but I feel the school should had talk to the students about difference and how to accept people for their differences and that could have provented Larry's untimely death. If teasing was going on on both ends the teachers should have entervined and both parties are responsible. The teachers should have been more understanding of Larry and told him to disregard the teasing and he need not to relaliate and viseversa.

Parents should know better than to let there litle boy or girl expres out in the open being gay, out of fear of loosing them . If thay realy love them they should teach them to be normal, and to FITT IN . Suicide bombers are only paying the ultimate price fo simply being themselves .

With all due respect homosexuality is documented throughout nature. Take the example of the two male penguins who mated for life in a zoo. Human beings are far from the only ones who engage in homosexual behavior.
