I think what happened to Larry was such a shame. My condolences to his family.
I, too would like to know how that gun was snuck into the school!
As far as the jesus/god freaks go, let me tell you this- God is a MYTH! Just like Zeus or what have you. And besides, doesn't the bible say God created man in his own image? and If Christians are going to hate the gay community, then they need to be consistent and hate the liars, the backbiters, the gossips, and the hypocrites, too (know of anyone who is divorced? or cheated on their spouse?) Maybe put up a few pickets around the neighborhood supermarket that caters to all those gluttons. You holier-than-thous are the worst kind of hypocrites.

This is just sad. Is this how human beings treat each other now? We have bigger problem then homosexuality and who judges who. How does it affect YOUR life if same sex couples get married or when gay people are walking down the streets? Do you even know them? If not then let them be. Focus on YOUR own issues not others. We are ALL the same, live on ONE planet, and have ONE life. People should make the most of it but not hate each other its a waste of time and a waste of YOUR life. IF your a homophobic fine, thats your issue but DONT make others suffer for your point of view, it just shows your true color. just like this young person did and took a life of innocent boy, who barly even started to live. RIP Lawrence KIng.

The only thing I really have to say is......his murder will get a slap on the hand, we all know how this stupidfied world works. Untill all the closed minded fools are gone, no one is safe. The Gay Community has come a long way, but we still have to watch our backs.

dragonlover77: your right, he is a minor, he'll do sometime in juvie and some community service and that's it. What sucks is the way this kid has been raised, he'll be back in jail as an adult too...after he follows his fathers example and beats up his wife or girlfriend...or maybe he'll follow in his mothers footsteps and get hooked on drugs. i don't see why people are so freaked out about gays, who cares!

First off, I am a straight man who does not judge gay people to be wrong. If a gay person is interested in you just tell them that you are not interested, it is that simple. Did you people ever think that people turning out gay for whatever reason is a benefit to everyone in this OVER POPULATED world! If you allow gay people to be, gay they will help reduce population; because, they will not be knocking up women trying to prove to everybody that they are straight but secretly they are gay. Maybe this is God or Nature's way of controlling the over population problem... Has anybody thought of that yet?!?!?! Come on Guys, what is the matter with you? For every person that decides to be gay means better odds for you (straight people) being laid, married, or what every your hearts desire is to do with the opposite sex. Moreover, on the other end, if a woman is not interested in you weather she is gay or straight she still will not get with you cool guy! Let gay people be gay and I am confident that they will let straight people be straight. Remember, there are always a few knuckleheads out there that you will have to watch out for, but don???t let that make you afraid of the world.

God forbid anyone try and express themselves. I didn't think they let people like you have access to computers. Do us all a favor and save your prayers. It's the narrowmindedness of people like you that results in hate crimes in the first place. Do you not learn about acceptance in your church? It was Jesus' message after all. Love and acceptance.

It was Jesus' message after all. Love and acceptance. Don't forget the bible warns us that a man should not lie with a man.

How the do you even know he was murdered because he was gay... after all the kid might have just been an annoying A-hole. The fact of the matter is that the news media wants to make you think that the reason he was murdered MUST be because he was gay to exclude all other possibilities. What happened to the boy was horrific I'll give you that... personally I'm more shocked that no attention was given WHATSOEVER to the fact that the Murderer in question calmly dropped the gun on the ground and walked away like nothing had happened! The boy was clearly a sociopath and no one finds that even the least bit odd. The problem is clearly that we as a society make BOTH kinds of behaviors acceptable. I SERIOUSLY doubt that any 13.5 year old truly KNOWS anything about their sexual preference... until society gives them a bit more to go on. Don't you find it a BIT odd that the cases of children "coming out of the closet", so to speak, are on the rise as society as a whole deems homosexuality a generally ok thing? Just food for thought... young minds are so impressionable after all that violent media/games can control their thoughts and actions... why not society's acceptance of homosexuality too....

The only finger pointing in this needs to go to the parents that brought both boys into this world and failed as parents.

I am an 18 year old female and I believe in the gay marriages even if God made Adam and Eve that if two people love each other no matter what thier sexuality is. I was brought up to know that this world isn't perfect and if Larry cared or even loved this other boy that that other boy should at least know that not only women like him. And i don't think that their is a shame in hidding what you feel if we have the Right of Freedom of Speech then we should be allowed to say how we feel or what we think because even the people that think that gay marriages should be allowed are beeing shot and found dead. Everyone wants the world to be at peace but it won't be with people acting the way that they do for such little reasons they should care more about bringing our famililes home from war and try not letting these kind of things happening again.

Wake up homophobes. Society made these ridiculous close-minded ideas as a result of the majorly popular religion in this country, difficulty to understand difference and being afraid of it.
Society aka the ignorant majority made these. There is no rule on WHO to love and this isn't a disorder.
Someone killed a human being for being not like oneself- ignorance cost someone a life and imprisonment as well as a lot of pain and suffering.
SOCIETY IS CHANGING. Minorities are rising up to being the majority. WAKE UP AMERICA!

To policitalmind13: the question of homosexuals is not the issue. I am sure one could go further back in history and see that all people, regardless of their race, creed, or even sexuality contributed to society. I do find it odd that you would use the work "lurking" to describe homosexual???s movement in society though. Although not completely there, we are slowly but surely becoming a society that celebrates differences. It is unfortunate that people are still being killed for some of those difference or drug behind cars for that. I do not condone the behavior of the killer, but somewhere in that school system, the teachers dropped the ball. I personally do not have a problem with those who are open about their sexuality, but there is an appropriate time and place for everything and school is for learning and not clowning around chasing other boys around while wearing high heel shoes. While Mr. King had every right to be who he was, in a society of such diverse minds and colors, his behavior was encroaching on others, while sadly led to his death. It also bothers me that as a society, we are so quick to put a label on bad behavior. The behaviors of Mr. King were attributed to ADD, rather that calling it what it really was, an out of controlled child, which he further exhibits in his adolescent years. For me, the tragic was not so much that Mr. King was killed, but that it took his death to get those charged with parenting him and loving him to be shown that poor parenting, mentoring, encouragement, and affection can have deadly consequences. Children need to understand that they are operating in an adult world with adult consequences. I see young girls walking down the street looking like ???women of the night??? and we as a society cry when one is grabbed, this tragedy is no different. No your place and your role to play. I do pray for the victim and those who took his life.

This is a very difficult and complex situation.
I feel sad for both of these boys.
Murder is not the answer to sexual harassment. Brandon should NOT be tried as an adult. He is a confused kid.
This unfortunate kid, Larry, should have had people to guide him, at this age, to understand the consequences of being so bold to others who may or may not want his attentions. With the right guidance this could have been prevented.
Sexual harassment is as unacceptable as gay/lesbian bashing.
I ask, WHY did Larry???s rights over rule Brandon???s? If it were a girl chasing and sexually harassing a boy to the extent that the whole school were talking about it, it would have been stopped immediately. Most likely before it got to the point of general conversation at school. So again, WHY did the school allow this? Has gay/lesbian rights gotten so important that the straights must suffer? Why can???t we understand that each person has the right to not be harassed? Why didn???t the school know, accept and guide the student body in this?
So, NO, Brandon should be tried as a juvenile and sentenced very leniently.
It seems he has and will continue to suffer his entire life for this action, with or without jail time.
If anyone should be tried, it seems to be the school for failing both boys and the entire student body and several teachers.

From the information that was given, I have to discard the assumptions about the alleged relationship between Brandon and Larry for the simple fact that they are just assumptions. But what is true is that an innocent life was taken. Gay, Straight, Bi, or Transgendered; he was the victim of murder. That is what I think people need to focus on. You can't let your opinion on sexualty distort the fact that not only was he the victim of unessicary violence, but that it was carried out by one of his peers. Was it wrong that he was teased for his personality? Absolutely. It was predujudice that is staggering at this point in time.

Wow! All of this discussion of homosexuality and sin diverts attention from the real bottom line about what happened here. Larry had emotional problems and possibly a mental disorder (and no, I am not talking about homosexuality) such as borderline personality where he wanted to be the center of attention so he dressed flamboyantly much like the goth, the punk, the other fashions and hairstyles kids adopt and Larry made a fatal mistake thinking someone else like Brandon might enjoy the same attention so he put Brandon in the center of his drama by sexually harassing him. It was inappropriate and the teachers obviously missed all that going on. Brandon was never taught any appropriate response to that attention and got the idea that homosexuality was wrong as well. Kids are embarassed by crushes and sexuality, no matter how much it is out there in the culture and adults don't handle these issues themselves very well. None of this has much to do with the Bible and sin and these kids don't belong as poster child for gay rights either because Brandon reacted to the harassment of his friends and peers as much as to Larry's harassment. It is more about bullying in school than gay rights and religion.

What do you expect? Homosexuality has been and is being shoved down the throt of America, and has been for the last 20 yrs. All you have to go is sit back and think yo see this statement holds credance. As a man in America, a man of interacial background, have noticed for years that homosexuality has really been pushed more towards the black man, For example, when I first noticed it was the series of "Nerd" pictures, the only prominant black figure (nerd) in all the pictures, was gay. Skip to Tv, "Designing women", the male characture, Black and feminine, in the end they tried to make it appear as if he was straight, but very feminine, 'Spin city", the only black male charature, Gay. Even a tough cop show like "The shield", the first time I turn on and watch the show I see the main black male figure is passionally kissing a man, since then they the writers/producers have had him change his was, begrudingly, I could go on and on with this, but won't, I'll make my point.
There is no answer for senceless murder, butmany of us hetero men are tired of having it thrown in our face continously.Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. It is a slow deteration of the human race, Two of the same cannot produce, Yes hear the term gay bashing, there are organizationsto protect and celebrate gay rights, and you have to even watch what you say or you may offend., but most gay i have run acros, wether conservative or "flaming", as to say, can get away with sat almost anything and people think it's cute or hilarious. Well many of us hetero, male and female do not find it to be so. Do we as heteros have to form our own protective rights organizations? I have seriously considered starting a organization called "The Straight Rights Organizion ".
No cute name, just to the point of protection of our rights as heteros. To put it bluntly, not everyone want to know about everyone elses' sexuality. If I was you in my life and my life style I will keep it between you and I personally
I believe God has a plan for this one of many worlds and for each and every man and woman, but I feel tjis is not part of the plan,, And the statement Homophobic is succh a joke, a phobia is something you fear. Most guys I know laugh when somebody calls us homophobic, Gays are not scarey

Mr Luckylucaino: Your misuse of the English language is testimony to many things you dont know about. An important one is this fact: You know the "HOOD" you wish to embrace as as your army against gays? Guess what?.... Your community in the "hood" has THOUSANDS of gay people living there,...THOUSANDS!!!! Ever wonder why you don't know this fact??? Think about if you can...You're the minority amongst your own!! Think before you type, and practice before you speak.

Wow. I'm suprised at how this Cover Story made the hit list #1. I am overlly greatful that many people are to read this article and also to see all the comments. Okay, First off.. Getting murdered is wrong beyond so many levels but getting murdered because your gay is just wow, heartbreaking. I know for a fact that there must have been a lot of other kids in that school who were about to come out but do you think they are going to come out now? Hell, I dont think so. This world is just so.. '*** Up' Sorry for the foul words but im just being honest. What has this world come too. Raging at Teenagers because of who they want to be.. I mean maybe this Boy wasnt really gay just curoius but thats not the point, the point is that being gay is not something you just wake up in the morning and say "Oh Mommy Daddy look i'm Gay!" No! Thats not how it works.. Trust me, its a hard experinece and it is something you think about for a long time. For me I thought about it since I was 9. Yes Nine. No I didnt think it was cool, actually I thought it was wrong but when i grew older I thought to myself 'wait why am i thinking something so wrong if im apart of this' and it just came to me Being Gay is NOT wrong in any levels. Its just people around us see it diffrently. So I will leave this post saying that Being Gay is not a choice and you should respect people no matter who or how they deside to be!
