It is unreal, how the system failed these two boys. Yes, Larry had certain rights, but not when it is infringing upon someone elses rights. Brandon was bullied plain and simple and at that age being accused of being gay when you are not is hard to deal with. Furthermore, dress codes are put into schoools for certain reasons. In this circumstance, I don't believe that Larry knew what the consequences of his actions would be. He was a young, impressionable child. Where were the responsible adults. Why didn't someone listen to the few adults that were trying to be responsible. If this had been a boy that was sexually harrassing a girl or vice versa would the school had taken a bigger stance. I think so. Everyone is so concerned about being poliltically correct that they failed to protect these two boys. I feel sorry for both of them. What Brandon did was wrong, but so was what Larry did. No I don't believe that Larry deserved to be killed, however; Brandon was basically violated everyday at school and no one did anything to help him. I believe Brandon needs some help, but to try him as an adult is a little excessive. You would think by now that our society would have learned that consistent bullying results in school shootings.

So absolutely true! Any junior high girl harassed this much would have had the support of the administration and a cease-and-desist demand or suspension for the harassing student. The school failed both kids by being so pc that it abdicated its responsibility.

honestly! u gay ppl need to go read the bible! u want ur gayness to be accepted? then we should just accept all the other sins in the bible like murder, theft and adultery...stop using this line about "oh it's just about love and blah blah blah". go read ur bible! u saw wat happened to Sodom and Gomorah? Hence the term sodomy...how many signs do u need or u jus waitin 4 the Lord to come and tell u Himself?

You idiot. You don't know anything about the Bible. Why don't you check in with some real Bible scholars from some of our nation's best universities and Divinity schools. Like you would know what God, the divine, thinks? What an arrogant self-deluded jerk you are. Jesus never discusses homosexuality. The Old Testament appears to make reference to men having sex with men... right about the same place it says that eating shellfish is also an "abomination". But I see plenty of homo-hating Christians lining up for the buffet at Red Lobster. Guess you all are abominations since it says so in Leviticus. You people are pathetic! Your brand of religion is morally corrupt and will not survive. Truth is divinity, which is why the truth about the diginity and worth of Gay people will triumph over your small-mindedness and hatred.

You tell them. The Bible speaks out about so many things, but yet we condone them in society. Some of these so-called Christians are the most stupid persons i have ever seen. These people should stop butting into ppl's businesses. If they were so smart in the first place they wouldnt have voted a dunce like Bush to run a 300 million person country.

omg, u HAVE to be Jamaican. Caribbean need to grow up and stop using the bible as defense. The bible clearly states that we should not commit fornication, however 3/4 of us were born out of wedlock. So why we hating gays? In that case, you should be hating yourselves for being a product of an unholy relationship. Thats my few words. And RIP Larry. U go girl!

Taking someone's life is wrong despite one's reason. We did not give life, therefore we cannot take it away. Thy shall not kill, is one of the ten COMMANDMENTS but many of us ignore God's words. What is important at this point is that there is still a life that needs to be saved. He is still alive but his spirit is dead. So as a nation we need to pray that he asks God to come in his life and create in him a new heart, a new spirit. Let's not let another child/another person continue living in sin as a dead individual. While we cannot ignore the tragedy, and I pray that God is with Larry's family as they mourn, it is imperative that WE dedicate our time and efforts on working and striving for change. Please, let's all try to get on one accord and and pray for the lives that can still be saved by God. Change begins with you and I.

i think this is an outrage! I think that people can love who they want and be there own person. with out expressing yourself what would this world be? Myself being a heterosexual i have no problems with homosexuals, and going to the comment below me your a *** moron. look back farther than that in plays men were the only ones allowed to play a character so when having a kissing scene where the two ACTORS murdered. Also i have 2 dogs and they are both males they go around humping each other all the time. If you have any sanity at all you would find this to be an outrage also. just b/c a child believes in diffent things and has different morals than you doesnt mean he or she should be killed over it. i have no care about society today b/c it is so *** up, i would have to be a Grade A student who is a christian that does nothing wrong and makes no mistakes in america to be a decent person. You look at the outside of someone and judge them, who are you to judge anyone without looking at yourself first. Everyone has flaws but no one has the right to tell another human being who they should be, how they should act, or judge us for what we do. god made erveryone for a reason says the bible but he didnt make people to criticize each others for who they are. Actually i remember a story from bible study, a women was to stoned for adultry, and jesus came to the crowd of people standing there and said "thou who hadenth sinned, cast the first stone." needless to say that women wasnt hit with one rock. so you tell me whats right and whats wrong but just remember that your casting a stone that you cant pick up.

Jesus also told her ???Neither do I condemn thee: GO AND SIN NO MORE.??? He has the power to forgive sins and whipe them out completely but we can't go on doing the same sin. He can change our hearts if we want and we will have no desire for that sin anymore.

You must not be reading the King James Version of the Bible. Of course homosexuality is a sin. That really isn't the issue. The issue is, these kids are just mimicing what they see on T.V. THe school allowed him to take his "personal expression too far." If it is going to be allowed, they should at least teach the kids how to handle themselves in a world where homosexuality is hated by some and accepted by few.

You obviously are a Robot. Do what a piece of paper tells you, have you thought of actually doing what your heart tells you...? I feel sorry for you and people who think like you, it's trully sad. People who think like you Honestly need love in their hears and accept yourselves as well. And being gay is not a sin. Honestly you don't know that Jesus was kissed on the cheeck by a man. So what are you going to say now... THAT JESUS IS GAY...? come on. Learn his teachings... He loved, not hated.

I went to EO Green for a short time and I can't imagine that something this tragic happened there. It makes you realize that these issues on the "news" are right out your front door. I actually have a friend who is a friend of a friend of the shooters family. I don't believe anyone could have imagined something like this would have happened. This is beyond sad! My heart goes out to all the victims in this situation.

NOBODY ABSOLUTELY NOBODY deserves to be killed because somebody doesnt like there lifestyle, thou his lifestlye was sinful, and doesnt give someone the right to kill him, and god will handle the murderer! and god will handle larry too! we dont kno is larry was a believer or not, and if being gay sends you straight to hell, well i got news for everybody posting comments, we all are goin!! homosexuality, little white lies, stealing candy, etc. all are sins that are equal in god's eyes, but we as humans like to throw in our own rules and regulations!! those who want to post hate comments and call urselves christians, you may want to examine who you really are because i kno MY GOD is NOT a god of hatred, so you shouldnt be either!! i wish we could just stop tryn to speak for god!! let him speak for himself, trust me god know how to show up and handle situations jus like this, he's done it before and he'll do it again, my prayers go out to both familes of the kids, especially larry's, and my god have mercy on both kid's souls!!!

Personally I do not have a problem with gay people. They are human like the rest of us, who are we to judge them? I am native american from Pine Ridge and I know what it is like to be judged, whenever I go off the Reservation, I feel people staring and sure enough when I lift my head to look someone is staring. I dont judge other's never did! I feel we are all human and why judge one another we all breathe the same air? gay people are not any different.I have plenty of gay friends, I am cool with them. they are what you would call my friends and I am proud to say their my friends
to all the gay people you rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great story written about Larry King. The peice was well written and riveting plus provided in depth coverage from all angles of the story. A job well done that you do not see in todays news writers. This is a tragedy for the boy who fired the gun and the death of the Larry King. This issue and the solution is not easily seen and there is no clear cut road out of this situation. I pray and hope for the best solution to all involved.

All things considered this young victim was probably confused about alot more than just his sexuality. What about the shooter kid? What is his story. And how did he ever get to a point in his thought process to think that killing for any reason is okay? And of course the question is always, how did he get the gun in the school? And where did a 15 year old get a gun in the first place? Are there parents here to be charged?

Wow!! It's sad how kids these days are handling problems with violence. Don't know if parents are to be blamed. Didn't read the whole article because It's really sad. First off I wan't to blame MTV for conditioning kids that homosexuality is cool. It's not only MTV but other T.V. networks that promote homosexuality. I grew up in the 90s & watched a lot of T.V., but I don't remember watching shows involving homosexuals. I do remember being confused about my sexuality at age 4, probably because I grew up with boys so I wanted to fit in with my brothers. I never did experiment with the same sex and am a straight individual today.

I really feel that society itself has failed these kids as well as the school officials in charge at this particular school. The pride of America is it's downfall. Our expected freedoms have come to mean different things to different people, and now we try and appease everyone so we have kicked God out of our schools and act shocked when things like this happen.

Since the blame has to go somewhere, I direct it to society and the school system. Has anyone wondered how the other kid felt?? Nothing justifies the murder, but, I guarantee you the other guy was being ridiculed by his friends based on the way the homosexual child was treating him. What about his social status? Does everyone remember how important reputation was when you were that age? Again, this does not justify his actions, but I can understand what led up to this considering the times we are currently in.

As a society we have created our own monsters for the sake of wanting individual rights and freedoms because this is America and we expect it, and of course our pocket books. There are many homosexual individuals in power now within the media, and educational realms that hold positions of influence, and this event is an example of their fight for their rights gone wrong, and justification to my personal view that they should not be allowed a postion of influence regardless of qualifications when impressionable and developing minds are involved.

This has nothing to do with religion, God is not the definition of religion. This has everything to do with what's right and wrong, and just looking at our biological make up, it is easy to see that we are not meant to be in a sexual relationship with a member of the same sex. Justify it however you wish, but it's like trying to stick a square object in a round hole. It doesn't fit, something has to break to get the desired outcome,. And right now it's society that is breaking.

Those of you that will post defending the rights, or justify why this Lawrence King(RIP) should have been allowed to act out like this are the pillars of the problems in this day and age.

What a pathetic society we have become. Our school system now promotes sexual 'disorientation' . Rather than assist and counsel those who have same sex attraction disorder, which is similar to pedophilia, necrophilia and several other sexual attraction disorientations, they use confused middel school children as pawns to justify and rationalize their deviate relationships.
We ought to be ashamed of ourselves for allowing those who cannot control their improper deviate urges to control our culture. Simple high school anaotomy should be enough to illiustrate the biological purpose of the design of sexual organs and the coupling of opposite genders. The fact that the psychological and physiological abnormalities of gays turned into a civil rights agnda as opposed to being regulated by the American with disabilities act is sad and an injustice to our society and and that of our children. I suppose the next thing we are gong to be doing is insiting that dislexic students are entitled to having schools issue them books with the words witten backwards, rather than help them ovrcome a perplexing abnormality.
This country needs honest leadership, similar to the little boy who called out in the story the "Emporer's Clthes". The truth no one wnat to talk about, is that we are creating a specila class of people based on the fact that they put their penis, which is designed for insemination, into the orifice designed for the elimination of waste, of another person of the same sex because they derive sexual pleasure from it.
I douibt that this boy knew who he was or what he was ... that didn't seem to stop the sexually disoriented Ms. Epstein from exploiting his confusion for her own deviate purposes. So sad.

Personally I feel that the school should not allowed Larry to dress in women clothing. I believe that just sparked more problems then the school could imagine. Children should be able to express themselves, but when it is at a public school, and a junior high at that, children don't even know who they are. Then enters Larry. A child who has been allowed to push the limit and allowed to behave any way he wanted. Where were the teachers when Larry was chasing around the other students and using his sexuality to make the other boys uncomfortable. Why poor Larry and not the poor boys for not being protected the same way. I really do believe the end times are fast approaching. Morals and ethics are bad, no morals and ethics are good. Every child needs to be protected. It was not acceptable the way Larry would treat the other boys as much as it was wrong for the boys to treat Larry the way they did.

    • Posted By: twinkie1cat @ 07/20/2008 11:59:57 PM

Larry's dress was not the problem, but he did have some behavior problems that apparently made him real unlikable by certain insecure students. This is common with a lot gay kids. They are harassed so much that thely retaliate and become obnoxious. If they canhnot get a posse going they are in trouble. But no matter how bad his behavior was, he should not have been murdered.

Public schools are not the right place for dress codes other than modesty. Uniforms are for police, prisoners and the military.

And then entered your stupid ass with some non-sense. Was it ok for the boy to have been killed because he chased boys? You don't remember chasing little boys when you were playing flag football, hitting one on the ass stating "GOOD JOB"

First off I am astonished by the reactions of everyone involved and not involved in this case. Larry had every right to be who he is. We are all individuals. Whatever happened between the two kids should have been seen by the teachers. Someone should have stood up and asked if something was wrong. Not just over look the fact that Larry was acting strange due to past behavioral episodes. There is no normal in this world, only the norm that society tries to set for us. It brakes my heart to see that the very rights that I and other fight hard to keep are torn away with ignorance and humiliation. As a openly homosexual 20 yea old male I have never gone through such blatant disregard for another???s rights, feelings, or sexuality. Secondly, I have read just about everyone???s post on here. This issue is not about who has what rights or who can we blame. This is about a child who needed someone and was brutally murdered. There are no comparisons and there are no fault but the systems. We are all individuals and should treat each other that way. Each persons needs and wants are different. Pushing blame or pushing the issue about homosexuality is not what we are to be doing here. This is about some ones LIFE!!!!! We morn the life that was taken by another human. I for one am out raged by what is going on here and what has gone on here. There are a lot of factors that need to be looked at in all of these situations. Honestly if you have nothing nice to say then keep it to your self. No one in the gay community or the heterosexual community wants to hear it. All you are doing is making your self look stupid. Last but not least. Homosexuality has nothing to do with bestiality. For all the unfortchanit uneducated buffoons out there I send you my mercy. Homosexuality chooses you, you don???t choose it.

I feel that this tragedy could of been avoided. Perhaps we should create more schools for gay children and to have specially trained teachers to deal with this subject. In the same event...it must be stressed that they cannot impose thier will on other children who are NOT gay. This will definetly cause violence and disruption . Please remember that this was a tween we are talking about here. Hold your accusations and Bible thumping hate and think of a better solution.I am sorry for Larry who wanted to be known as Leticia. I found it ironic that his heart united with a 10 year old girl. Maybe his heart can relive in her spirit as a girl like he wanted to.

From a kids point of view Brandons reputation as a normal young man was being threatened(possibly for the rest of his life he might think). If we are going to tolerate Larry's behavior towards Brandon or any other case similar to this we need to understand that there could be consequences(I'm not condoning what happened in any way) that we might not expect. This is the problem with the liberal belief that we must always be tolerant of everything, they are not tolerant of any one who disagrees with them hence the hate crime law being used in this case Everywhere you look in this case the tolerance of Larry's disruptive behavior that should have landed him in detention or suspension so other students could actually get an education was tolerated to its sad end along with other peoples lives being ruined as well. My belief is that a simple school uniform policy could have prevented this. Boys with a cheap dress shirt and slacks and girls with blouses and skirt or slacks. Be however you want on your own time but while at school adhere to the dress code so students can learn. This simple step would have returned the circus to a place of learning and respect for boundaries. Larry's parents should have put their foot down and said when you turn 18 you can dress how you wish ,until then you are our boy and you will dress accordingly. The way I see it the boy was crying out for structure or boundaries of some sort and nobody had the intestinal fortitude to put up any. I honestly don't see this as a gay issue at all ,I see it as a lack of parenting and lack of discipline for disruptive behavior at school. It also on a larger level is a testament to the fact that some people have opposing views and they should be respected , I will try to make an analogy asking someone to be tolerant of something they don't believe in and then taunting them is much like poking a lion in the ribs with a stick, it will be a humerous game until the lion decides it is not fun anymore. It is a really sad event while easily preventable with standards,, structure ,dress code , and punishment for disrupting or harrasing other kid's learning process, along with telling school officials to leave their political agendas at home especially when officiating over such young impressionable kids.

People are so shallow minded. If you'd been born a boy and attracted to boys, you would have to feel differently. But instead of trying to put yourself in the shoes of a girl or boy that is attracted to there same sex..we cast them out !! it is easier to cast them as outsiders or unfit or even worse thing. I feel sorry for those who are so wrong in there thinking ....your missing out on some amazing people who are great friends.

My heart goes out to each of the families involved. This is a very sad eye opener. Parents we must talk to our children and be more involved in their everyday lives. It is not enough that we provide shelter and clothing. We cannot place the responsibility on schools to supply all of the children's needs. Their lives depend on it. Ironically my name is Leticia King
