Serbs have family memories passed down orally and in diaries of the last great massacre of Serbs in 1907 by the Sultan. Every male between 15 and 45 was killed that did not escape into the forests. The victims were roasted on spits, impaled, flayed, burned alive, and various other creative methods. The terroristic brutality of the sultans Janizeries is legendary. That is not so long ago. It happened in Belgrade.

Matters are more complex than presented in the Western media. Milosevic was on trial for years at the Hague and was cleared, he just died before release. This got zero play in the Western press, and to this day almost nobody knows that the charges of genocide that were the basis for our Kosovo bombing campaign were lies. This, together with the fact that (as reported on NPR no less) the KLA had ethnically cleansed parts of Kosovo 2 years prior to Milosevic's deportation campaign rankles Serbs (and Russians.) Further, the USA was very well aware that the KLA was owned and operated by Osama bin Laden. The money to fund it came in large part from slave plantations raising drug crops that Osama bin Laden maintained in the Sudan. (For all I know, he still owns and operates these plantations.) This also was reported by various news outlets prior to our Kosovo war.

The Serbs, of all the people in Europe, were the only ones who fought in the streets, forests and bunkers against the Nazis for all of WWII, and protected their Jews with bullets and lives. No other European nation can say this. The Serbs saved a great many and went fought at the barricades for them. The Serbs battling the Nazis delayed their push into Russia when a campaign scheduled to take a few weeks was still hot and heavy 3 months later. This late schedule may have been critical to the Nazi party's eventually loosing WWII.

While what Kardzic did was reprehensible, equally reprehensible things were done by others around that time. The breakup of Tito's Yugoslavia resulted in some 300,000 + Serb refugees and massacres of Serbs by Croats. This thing is ancient; older than Norther Ireland and has more sides. The Serbs know that the prosecution of Kardzic and Milosevic happened to justify the US led bombing campaign in Kosovo - it was not a search for justice. A search for justice would have gone after everyone involved on all sides, and not singled out the Serbs.

Justice would call Bill Clinton the the Hague to answer charges of trumping up genocide to justify a war that successfully distracted the US media away from Monica Lewinsky. Justice would call the leaders of the KLA and Osam bin Laden to the Hague for ethnic cleansing of Serbs. Justice would call Croatia's leadership to the Hague for war crimes against Serbs. But that isn't going to happen.

The Hague is very selective justice.
