To the person who said that Dara Torres looks like a man: nothing could be further from the truth. She's actually really pretty and has a great figure. She just has short hair. What do you think you would look like with sweats on, wet hair, and no makeup? For the love of God, she wasn't standing on the stage of the Miss American pageant when that photo was taken.

Havng a baby does not change the way a man's body looks or functions. A woman with a chald has to work much harder to compete than does a man. Any female athlete that has a baby and still compete is amazng.

To "Once You Try To Deceive"--Let's face it, it's harder for a women to bounce back physically from the effects of having a baby. There are LOTS of dads who are also Olympic athletes, but the moms definitely have a tougher road. Get over it!

in regards to below: I think this article is meant to comment on the amazing ability of these athletes to carry a child for 9 months, experience the pain of child birth, and then manage to recondition thier bodies to perform as they did pre-pregnancy. Forgive me, but if you think this is "sexist" you're an idiot!

I love, love, love Jenny Finch. She seems like such a teamplayer, and she always has a smile on her face. She is a wonderful rolemodel, not only for young gilrs who play ball but also to young mothers who still love to play. I take my girls with me to the park when I play softball. She is so loved and famous yet she seems so grounded, i love to watch her and the girls of team USA play. Also, Stacy Nuveman, a mother and a wonderful player and rolemodel.

Vonetta Flowers, first African American to win gold at the Winter Olympics should have been included. She's an amazing athlete and human being with beautiful twin boys.

Who cares if Swoopes is a Lesbian? What does that have to do with anything? It is sad to see a person like you take an article that celebrates successful women and instead of appreciating the light that it projects, trying to cast a shadow with information that YOU consider to be negative.

Liz Lynch McColgan should be included in this list as well, in my humble opinion. I attended college with her and her husband, steeplechaser Peter McColgan, and she was a phenomenal college athlete who eventually melded five children into her lengthy sports career. Want to check her out? Here's a link: http://www.ukathletics.net/supporters/hall-of-fame-athletes/liz-mccolgan/
