cloudosmoke, Charlie Crist just happens to be our GAY Govenor and recently after McCain added him to the VEEP list, Charlie got engaged. Now here's the best part. He got engaged to a GIRL. If that's not going the extra mile, what is? you're not new to the blogs so you should have known i was playing. Bass Pro aka Bella12 would never vote or support a person who would send our best young men and women to die in Iraq just to get the mouth-breathing, out of touch, G OLD P to support him. What kind of a person could do that? What kind of person could support someone who would do that?

    • Posted By: Cloudosmoke @ 07/29/2008 9:55:10 AM

Actually I think I just saw Crist on Lock UP on MSNBC. He had a wig with blond pig tails and was being chased around by Bruno the Body Builder.

      • Posted By: Bass Pro @ 07/29/2008 9:57:10 AM

        OUCH!

        • Posted By: Bass Pro @ 07/29/2008 10:03:11 AM

Charlie Crist is not quite up to Larry Craig's standards but has been tirelessly working on widening his stance.

John McCain is on the verge of choosing his VP. It would be fundementally unfair for him to choose anyone but Charlie Crist of Florida. Gov. Crist has went the extra mile for mcCain and must be the chioce.

    • Posted By: RO in Reno @ 07/29/2008 8:59:11 AM

I think he should choose Chuck Hagle, If by some quirk of fate McCain is actually elected at least we would have a VP we could trust.
Especially sine McCain is on his last leg and may not manage four years.

      • Posted By: Cloudosmoke @ 07/29/2008 9:04:35 AM

Hagle is trying to run as far and as fast as he can from the Republican Party. He knows a sunken ship when he's one of the few floating on the water.

        • Posted By: RO in Reno @ 07/29/2008 9:51:33 AM

If I was a republican I would run too, actually a lot of people have as I understand it only 25% of registered voters are now registered as republican.

    • Posted By: Cloudosmoke @ 07/29/2008 9:00:18 AM

OK. Who is Charlie Crist and you want him for the number 2 spot. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. What has he ever done. What offices? And you people harp on Obama on the inexperience thing? You make me laugh. I tell ya, you McCain supporters are hilarious, double talkers. He's been governor of Fla for how long? Less than 2 years!!! And what position did he hold before that to ready him to take over when McCain falls over? Nada!!! GOP, do me and the rest of America a favor and just stop. It's over. You have no ground to stand on. You say this and that and all that comes out is blah, blah, blah, blah.

There is a reason why the media backs McCain, gives him to many breaks on his sealed service records, to many breaks on King Daddy of the Flip Floppers 180's on policy, to many breaks on his gaffes, to many breaks on his health records, etc, etc.... by limiting the reporting or totally not reporting on them. MSM controls the conversation by controlling the air waves they will soon (if they get their lobbyist funding to pay off) control the net. They are working hard day and night to accomplish just that. With McCain in the White House it will be much easier from them to succeed. And as they say "Stay Tuned"

Cloudosmoke McCain does have an economic plan, he's made it clear he will continue "supply side economics, His "advisors on the economy are Gramm (now in hiding) who is responsible in large part for the crisis we all face and will face for generations. And Carly Fiorina the failed CEO of Hewlett Packard who flooded America with that piece of junk HP calls a computer. Both of whom think the economy is great and if you don't you are whiners.
If you think the economy is great McCain is the man.

I read another article which stated McCain hates teleprompters and struggles to read from them. So he is now "memorizing" different "soundbites" when he gets lost reading the teleprompter or notes. Perhaps this accounts for his not making sense most of the time!! He has memorized ALL his attacks on Senator Obama, that is why they pop up where they really do not belong with the content of the subject he is disussing!! It appears his most important subject s are, what he refers to as, "MY SURGE" and his military service to his country and POW status 35 years ago. Gee, I worked for a dental clinic for 10 years, does that prepare me to be a dental surgeon?? In essence, that is what McCain is saying, "I served my country, was a POW and now MY SURGE has worked, so now I am really qualified to be your president". I'll keep you distracted with my slash-and-burn tactics against that young, smart, intelligent senator who shows suberb presidential potential but as long as I am attacking him, you won't notice my own serious and very real flaws". "Just keep looking at Obama, don't look at me! " Yep, that is McCain alright!! Isn't this what insecure and fightened people do?? Think about it, please.

    • Posted By: Cloudosmoke @ 07/29/2008 8:37:46 AM

Memorizing soundbites and winging most of his speeches sounds like a comedian at "Evening at the Improv." Should be pretty funny.

Obama didn't and still doesn't support the war. I don't support the war and the Americans that vote him into office in November will say, "we didn't support the war."

McCain doesn't have a platform for the ecnomy other than standing in front of a restaurant or in front of cereal looking like someone applying for the store manger position. Obama has presented his Social Security, Economic, Energy, Foreign Policy, Global Poverty and even addressed Black America platforms. What has McCain presented, not a thang... not a thang. =)

McCain will not make ground because he is too busy whining about Obama this, Obama that. He doesn't know where he is half the time, much less he can't even read a map to know what country is what and which Continent is where. He can't remember how he voted on issues when asked so he obviously didn't think to hard about whether to say yea or nay because he was following suit to the Republican votes. This election is too big for mosta youse. Stay on the porch.

Comment: The press has done nothing but denigrate Senator McCain for asking for "equal" treatment. Is that so much to ask..... Or are all of you so blinded by the "Annointed One" that you can't even do that. In the end, the media as well as the American people will loose if you continue on this course. Already, many of you are feeling the "bite" in regards to lack of sales, revenues and those of us who are now boycotting your broadcasts and publications... It is up to the American people to chose their president, not the press.... Perhaps all of you should remember what being a member of press means... fairness, honesty and integrity... I would say that the majority of you have forgotten these things... Well, we won't forget what you have done in this election....
    ---------------------------------------
Aren't you forgetting something? It is the Republicans who have brought the "plague" to our country. It is their desire to go to war in Iraq when it was not necessary.....9/11 terrorists did NOT come from Iraq, they were mostly Saudis trained in Afghanistan!! Bin Ladin resided in Afghanistan. The Repubs have our military stretched out like a thin rubberband as a result of fighting two wars at once; AND McCain wants to "bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" and wants to kill Iranians by shipping them cigarettes. McCain WANTS to fight THREE WARS!! Is McCain a warmonger, or what?? I think McCain is delusional and dangerous to the wellbeing and safety of our beloved country and to us, the citizens. I get sick to my tummy when he flashes that smirk which he tries to pass as a smile. McCain's body language tells a whole lot about him. Someone said McCain showed "strength" when he holds on to the podium with both hands. I beg to differ, I believe he HOLDS on to the podium for physical support. His mind is more worrisome tho, cannot seem to remember from one moment to the next. He NEVER answers a question directly, he goes off on some other tangent with personal attacks against Senator Obama, flashing that horrid smirk, like he has said something really smart and clever. I wish Mr. Russert was still with us; he seemed to be the only interviewer that could pin McCain down. McCain spends most of his time bashing the good senator from Illinois and the saying how wonderful he, McCain, would be and do in contrast!! Like I said, that old buzzard is delusional. I think he probably needs our prayers much more than he needs our votes.

MartinCarmelm Sorry bud, your are spewing the same slander and lies about Senator Obama that others have spewed for some time. Nothing new, just cut and paste. Why do you and your cohorts hold Senator Obama for other people's actions and words?? That is rather absurd, don't you agree? Come on, you sound like an old scratched record and noone listens to you anymore. Same old crapola trying to besmirch a good person! Please spend more time educating and informing yourself on the CURRENT ISSUES. You might learn something different and new! by the way, it might be a good idea for your to reflect on YOUR SELF. i bet you don't measure up to Senator Obama!

This is USA TODAYs Gallup Poll being tooted on cable news today

    USA TODAY
Gains for McCain in latest USA TODAY/Gallup Poll
By: Mark Memmott and Jill Lawrence

    Read article below for explanation.

    McCain - 49%

    Obama - 45%

    EXCERPT:

Republican presidential candidate John McCain moved from being behind by 6 points among LIKELY voters a month ago to a 4 POINT LEAD over Democrat Barack Obama among that group in the latest USA TODAY/Gallup Poll. McCain still trails slightly among the broader universe of REGISTERED voters by both measures, the race is TIGHT.

The Friday-Sunday poll, mostly conducted as Obama was returning from his much-publicized overseas trip and released just this hour, shows McCain now ahead 49%-45% among voters that Gallup believes are most likely to go to the polls in November. In late June, he was behind among likely voters, 50%-44%.

Among registered voters, McCain still trails Obama, but by less. He is behind by 3 percentage points in the new poll (47%-44%) vs. a 6-point disadvantage (48%-42%) in late June.

Results based on the survey of 791 likely voters have margins of error of +/- 4 percentage points - so McCain's lead is not outside that range. Results based on the survey of 900 registered voters also have margins of error of +/- 4 percentage points.

Gallup editor Frank Newport tells Jill that "registered voters are much more important at the moment," because Election Day is still 100 days away, but that the likely-voter result suggests that it may be possible for McCain to energize Republicans and turn them out this fall.

Frank says that while the tracking poll indicates Obama may have gotten some gains from his overseas trip last week, any benefits may be short-lived. That tracking poll of 2,674 registered voters was also done Friday-Sunday and the margins of error on the results are +/- 2 percentage points.

As for the difference between the tracking and USA TODAY/Gallup polls, Frank says not to read too much into it. "Statistical noise" may be largely to blame.

      Gallup 48 - 40 Obama
      Rasmussen 45 - 42 Obama

      Chance of winning: Rasmussen 63.7%
      Vegas 69.7%

USA Today Polls reliability up to 15-32% incorrect, is also the worst. They also skew the headlines for effect. That's why no one believes it except those who need to in desperation.

Thanks. Those quotes are in the article link I provided. Doesnt hurt to point out. All these polls are something else. This was the first time I knew there was a USA Today Poll based on registered voters likely to vote. They made mention of it on the news today and have a ticker going at the bottom promoting it. Cant remember the channel.

McCain seems to have concieded the fact that going negative is now the only option for his campaign.

From an article from Politico today:

Jim Pinkerton, a contributor to Fox News who worked for Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, and for former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee in this year's GOP primary, isn???t convinced of the efficacy of this line of attack:

"First they goaded him into going to Iraq and that was pretty successful ??? for Obama. And now the McCain people are trying to goad him into spending more time with the troops and going to hospitals to visit wounded soldiers.

???They better be careful what they wish for, since Obama just might screw them up and do it.???

    • Posted By: sharenews @ 07/28/2008 7:04:47 PM

That wouldnt be good for Obama.. The republican ads of the past can get pretty nasty and God knows they have enough ammunition to use. But I agree, It depends on the topic/issue they target and the manner in which they present the ad cuz it could also backfire on them. Unless there is a Whitey tape, which I doubt, but if there were it would be all over. .

Obama leads McCain by 8% according to Gallup today. Obama leads McCain in electoral votes according to individual polls by 322 to 216. if this was a boxing match the ref would stop it. Sharenews is busting his butt trying to make something out of nothing. His whole world is coming down around his ears and all he has is a mouth-breathing john McCain to promote. Even Ron Popeil could promote McCain. Sharenews wonders why he wasn't given more? How can he corn holyroller, debunked, citron and josemarti be expected to hang on. Whether you support his policies or share his vision most of you are probably like most other Americans who had no idea who he was a year and half ago, seven months ago you couldn't pronounce his name or have even taken the time to remove the bull from the facts. Even with all of these tremendous odds against him The American people and Barack Obama are leading in the polls and the real numbers (real counted votes). Amazing truly AMAZING! An extremely unknown Politician leading nationally against one of the most famous politicians in the entire world. Now does that say that Barack Obama is one of the greatist politicians and will be one of the greatist leaders ever or that John McCain is just such a bad politician and an extremely weak leader? I actually think that it is a lot of both.

    • Posted By: mrzoid @ 07/28/2008 5:01:20 PM

Okay, calling McCain one of the most famous politicians in the world is going overboard. Plus, Obama was introduced to the country four years ago at the DNC convention. After giving the keynote, the popular opinion among the pundints was that Obama woud probably be (at least) the VP candidate for the Dems in 08. So to say that Obama came out of no where is just inaccurate; were not talking about david vs. goliath here. Obama is a very strong candidate for the Dems, and McCain is a very weak candidate for the GOP, simple as that.

Wrong, the media used to be about objectivity. As soon as the "news" entered the realm of twenty-four hour/day ratings cycles, it lost all reminents of integrity. So Obama gets more press coverage, well im sorry, but he is the more interesting candidate. Even FoxNews spends all of its time on the topic of Obama, not in a favorable way, but nonetheless. If FoxNews isn't even covering its own candidate, that tells you something about McCain.

    • Posted By: Bass Pro @ 07/28/2008 4:46:55 PM

I'm surprised you're not asking for less exposure for McCain. He is without a doubt the most inept at speaking and thinking since Dan Quayle!. He lacks the ability to deliver prepared lines. how do you think he'd fare with questions he isn't prepared for. Just getting angry and calling everyone his friend isn't going to improve his status.

  • Posted By: mrzoid @ 07/28/2008 4:30:12 PM

Is anyone else really bored by and burned out on this campaign yet? It's been almost two years of campaigning, and yet the news cycles are on this 24/7. McCain has a piece of skin removed, write a piece. Obama gives his wife dap, start a controversy! McCain mispronounces a word, start a rumor that he's in the early stages of Alzheimers. Obama uses a word with more than 10 letters, call him an eliteist.
We haven't even gotten to the conventions and all i want is for this damn thing to be over already. There is so little news to be had that the talking heads just latch onto non-issues and try to create some sensationalized b.s., and its just exhausting. No wonder McCain takes weekend off.

    • Posted By: Bass Pro @ 07/28/2008 4:41:03 PM

McCain takes the weekends off to have body parts removed. But, as he says, it's really nothing to be concerned about. Is this just the republican's way of assuring us that mccain's vice president will take over shortly after the swearing in ceremony.? Kind of promising us immediate relief just in case he somehow stumbles into the presidency?

  • Posted By: NewsWkDickG @ 07/28/2008 4:28:01 PM

Experience v judgement? How about honesty! When George W Bush struts instead of walks, smirks instead of smiles and when he pauses and snidely looks to the side as if to say, ???aren???t I something??? I think of how we were as thirteen to fifteen year old punks on the streets of Chicago. At sixteen and seventeen though we were putting that stuff aside, realizing we weren???t such big shots after all and that other people mattered. But Bush still maintains a warped sense of entitlement that goes with his self-indulgent sociopathic personality, literally lacking any conscience. His attitude, as with Cheney and Rove, seems that he needs to be accountable to no one. Impeachment, indictment, prosecution proceedings against GWBush, DCheney, KRove, CRice and others would seem a much needed message to the world that America has regained its conscience, to future administrations as a stern warning and to the American people that there really is justice and hope. Their arrogant and irresponsible conduct in repeatedly lying to the word, to the American people and criminally to congress as they have used their offices and America???s resources pursuing their private agenda to benefit a few and themselves is more than adequate justification. In almost everything it has been for Special Interests and a select few, who return benefit, support and considerations, as they then simply give the average American only apathy, subterfuge and the costs. All of this is apparent and obvious to any unbiased viewer who wants to objectively look. While it is doubtful that congress will take that course of action, preferring what is politically expedient to what would be responsible, hopefully the voters won???t enable more of the same. We should each evaluate the reality as it will then have more meaning. By taking any of the Bush-Cheney positions and asking: who would actually significantly benefit?; what do they say to sell it?; and what will it really cost the average American?, it tells the story. By considering tax cuts for the wealthy, Social Security, Global Warming, energy policy, drug costs in America, medical costs, education, immigration, the deficit, the trade deficit, exporting of jobs and taxes, on and on, especially the Iraq War and even the actual status of security in America under Bush, it will clearly demonstrate their consistency. Then we as objective voters can each decide if we ever really want more of the same.
