What this election comes down to is: will this juat be another in a continuing cycle of phony election promises and rhetoric, or will our nation actually start to solve the problems our polarized political system just plays politics with?
On the one hand we have the typical politician of bright promise and powerful rhetoric and one the other hand we have a politician that has worked in a nonpartisan manner for years to actually bring change.
One lacks humility, and the other learned true humility the hard way while in captivity.
One speaks directly to the people and answers their questions directly and the other doesn't allow questions and looks down upon "weakminded people dependent upon their religion and guns."
One has been there and the other takes credit for things done before he was even there.
One is a phony and exciting con man, and the other is a practical and pragmatic problem solver.
What have you been smoking?
McCain - humility?? That is laughable. McCain's actions and deeds clearly show a man with an agenda - his own. I am not naive to think that all Politicians don't prevaricate - some do have genuine goals that they want to achieve for the betterment of our country, but don't try to make McCain out to be a Saint and Obama out to be the devil. That just does NOT wash.
McCain has taken all the credit for the surge, he has no idea how much was contributed by the effort of the surge, given that most of the troops were sent to Baghdad, as opposed to other parts of the region. He fails to acknowledge that the war was a totally wrong and immoral. He fails to acknowledge that the real issue of getting Al Qaeda out of Afghanistan is less important. He is stuck with not "losing" a war from his Vietnam days, such that he is willing to risk more soldier's lives without any clear benefit of what is at stake. He has run a smear campaign, when he has said he is above this.
He does not honor his marriage vows to his first wife - "in sickness and in health" . he divorces his first wife when she becomes disfigured in a car accident.
He has no reality or concept of the hardships of the average american, given that his wife is a beer heiress.
He has had a high record of missing votes and lack of attending senate sessions.
He has shown no compassion to other families who have soldiers who were POW or MIA in vietnam.
He doesn't understand history nor the critical foreign issues at hand. he just spouts the same rhetoric all the time. He can't even understand the difference between Sunni and Shiites.
Quite honestly, I don't think we know the real John McCain, and if you think what he projects out there is reality, then you are clearly delusional. Already what he projects is a inability to speak intelligently with clear purpose, and this is with all the image consulting he gets!
He is a tempermental man not suited for the calm leadership needed in the time of crisis.
Soft pitches for McCain & not even a single follow-up. To bad the media is all in Obama's pocket (sarcasm) The evil GOP Hate Machine is starting to kick into full gear. The following is an email I have gotten 3 times already, they busted it as UNTRUE on Snopes: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/afghanistan.asp
Hello everyone,
As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to "The War Zone". I wanted to share with you what happened. He got off the plan and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram. As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn't say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service. So really he was just here to make a showing for the American's back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you. I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States . I just don't understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country.
If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know what kind of caliber of person he really is. What you see in the news is all fake.
In service,
Battle Captain
TF Wasatch
American Soldier
Unbelievable - yes we get a "genuine" letter froma a "Battle Captain" who gives his name and simply American Soldier - no company, brigade, or rank.
I also have a bridge to sell someone if they want it
Yeah, it's amazing how much of the Obama smearing has been busted as untrue on Snopes. Too bad people don't bother to check out the validity of chain emails...my experience has been that 75% of them (political, health, religious, whatever...) are untrue.
I don't know how any woman can vote for McCain. The man has NO integrity. He was a known party boy and womanizer, and when he came back from Vietnam, he found out that his first wife Carol was disfigured and had gained weight from a horrible car accident. She was so worried about him, she didn't want him to know.
Shortly after coming home, he met Cindy McCain who was 17 years younger - blond and rich. Knowing he didn't have a brilliant career infront of him in the Navy (having graduated near the lowest in his class), he decides to get into politics.
His friendship with the Reagans were changed when he divorced his first wife. The Reagans were very close to Carol and John McCain. They and other friends were shocked when he filed for divorce.
But hey if you have hot, rich, blond wife why not throw your first wife under the bus.
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-divorce11-2008jul11,0,6546861.story
Then he wouldn't go home to Arizona after Cindy had her stroke, instead making her learn to walk on her own while he stayed in DC on 'important business'...yeah...more important than family? Cindy herself said this in her Newsweek interview about a month ago.
You're Just the opposite ......Most Americans are REALLY sick worried about SENIOR SENATOR being President......Senile,Drop Death in Ceremony,Alzheimer,Mentality Break-Down,Sturborn,Health-Cancer, blah-blah.
While i agree that these errors McCain makes are not as important as the overall message he puts forth, he is still the man trailing in this race. When you're trailing, you can't afford mistakes, and McCain seems to make a fair amount of them.
Those by "nature" really againts a good canidate as Obama can still get Republican candidate by attending Ron Paul convention and Vote for him in fall,i think Ron Paul is much better Republican than John McCain itself.
Maverick GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul has booked an arena in Minneapolis for a "mini-convention" that could steal some of John McCain's thunder just days before he accepts the Republican nomination.
A Paul campaign aide said the Texas congressman hopes to pack about 11,000 supporters into the Williams Arena at the University of Minnesota on Sept. 2, which coincides with the second day of the Republican National Convention at the Xcel Energy Center in neighboring St. Paul.
Paul, 72, will announce details for the rally Thursday at the start of the Texas Republican Convention in Houston.
The campaign hopes the daylong event will "send a message to the Republican Party," Paul campaign spokesman Jesse Benton tells the Tribune-Review.
I can't believe how many delusional Obamatrons are out there. Growing up in a single parent household and graduating from Harvard does NOT qualify you for the presidency. Barack Obama is just a product of clever marketing to young people. The silent majority of Americans who actually show up on polling day won't buy into his hopey-changey BS.
John McCain can't make up his mind where he sits on this fence. He claims to be a "Mavrick," but the only thing mavrick about John McCain is his inconsistency. Despite McCain's honors as a war verteran, the fact is that he graduated as a flunky (894 of 899) from the Naval Academy. His greatest pre-politics achievement seems to have been as a light weight boxer in his academy days. And while we can honor McCain's perseverance as a war hero, we should not forget he was shot down after only his 23 missions over Viet Nam. Experienced fighter pilots in that war flew many hundreds hundreds of missions. Some pilots often flew 3 and 4 sorties a day. By that count, McCain lasted all of a week in Viet Nam. Other than touting his war record - who is John McCain? Does he have the "smarts" and intelligence, and mental capacity to lead as president, or is he likely to be another "Bush" - puppet of the Authoritarian right
This is incredibly insulting to the men who have actually served our country in combat. McCain getting shot down after 23 missions doesn't mean he's an incompetent fool. It just means he got unlucky. Lots of skilled pilots were killed by surface-to-air missiles in Vietnam.
I would like to see a punk like you or Obama put their life on the line in combat. You and your Messiah would sh*t your pants once the bullets started flying.
Im Vet I know what Im saying, John mCain is NOT war hero,War Survival to exact
This is an interesting and moronic comment to make - especially with all the insults people throw at Obama like "elitist"
I guess you think that only white old men who are married to Beer heiresses are deserving to be President?
Obama, a son of an immigrant, who graduated with distinction and has demonstrated the American ideals of working hard, and devoting of oneself to their country to bring a better change to all Americans is no less deserving of the honor of being our Presidential nominee than McCain who was able to get elected to office because he married a wealthy heiress and traded on his father's and grandfather's name.
I like how Obama fans always make an issue of the fact that McCain is an old white guy. They can barely hide their contempt for the white establishment.
McCain has a long and impressive list of legislative accomplishments to his credit. By any objective standard, he is vastly more qualified to be president. Nobody except the far-left of the Democratic Party cares that Obama is black or the son of an immigrant. In the real world, people are hired because of their qualifications and experience, of which Obama has none.
Dont make yourself sound like Maggots,McCain clearly a senile old with out of touch policy,Im White but I wont "SELL" my SOUL and "COUNTRY" for the sake of White stupidty?
It is funny that you call "Obamatrons" delusional. No one thinks that coming from a single parent household or graduating from Harvard qualifies anyone to be president anymore than anyone thinks being a figher pilot and POW qualify anyone being president. It comes down to who you feel is on the right side of the issues that our country faces.
If John McCain of 2000 were running for president this year, he would warrent serious consideration. But since McCain has been pandering to the extreme right of the Republican. You know, the McCain who voted against the Bush tax cuts of 2001 because he thought it favored the right, but is now in favor of them. The one who was for a guest work visa program, but has since came out against it. The one who in 2003 thought we would be greeted as liberators in Iraq, the one who as late as 2006 said that he thought the Bush administration was doing the right things in Iraq, but later said that he has been calling for changes in strategy all along. The one who said he would follow Osama Bin Laden to the gates of hell, but said that he would not go into Pakistan to get him. The one who said before that we would evenually have to deal with Hamas and Iran, but criticizes Obama for saying that we need to deal with Iran. The one who criticized Obama for opting out of public financing, but in the primaries pledged to us public financing, used it to secure a loan, then tried to opt out of public financing. The one who challanged Obama to travel abroad, but after realizing that Obama's trip was a success, criticized him for not staying at home. The one who has stated that he doesn't believe more drilling for oil will lower the cost and the tax holiday would not lower fuel costs, but think it will help Americans psychologically. The one who tries to portray Obama as an elitist, but used his wife's cooperate jet to fly to campaign events in the primaries.
who is the delusional one Brian C?
1. John F. Kennedy: 43 Yrs Old, Youngest American President
2. D'Mitry MedVedev 42 Yrs Old, Today's Young... Russian President
3. Brack Obama 46-47 Yrs Old..Democrat Presidential Candidate
4. John McCain 71-72 yr Old, republican Presidential Candidate.
You can Vote for this 71-72 yr Old, Semi-Senile Old Man....
Give Me the 46-47 Yr. Old Visionary...
In swing-state Colorado, the Republican Secretary of State conducted the biggest purge of voters in history, dumping a fifth of all registrations. Guess their color.
In swing-state Florida, the state is refusing to accept about 85,000 new registrations from voter drives ??? overwhelming Black voters.
In swing state New Mexico, HALF of the Democrats of Mora, a dirt poor and overwhelmingly Hispanic county, found their registrations disappeared this year, courtesy of a Republican voting contractor.
In swing states Ohio and Nevada, new federal law is knocking out tens of thousands of voters who lost their homes to foreclosure.
1961: John F Kennedy sworn in as US president
The Democrat John F Kennedy has been sworn in as the youngest ever elected president of the United States.
The (43-Year-Old) Roman Catholic was inaugurated as the 35th president on a snow-covered Capitol Hill in Washington. He takes over from the oldest president in American history, General Dwight Eisenhower, who is bowing out aged 70.
The president's Republican rival, Richard Nixon, who came a close second in the race for the White House, also attended the inauguration ceremony.
Millions watched the swearing-in of the new president on television. He chose to wear formal dress, including a top hat, for the occasion.
Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country
President John F Kennedy
President Kennedy began his speech by addressing "my fellow citizens" - the term first used by President George Washington but rejected by later presidents in favour of the less formal "my fellow Americans".
His ten-minute address appealed to Americans to unite in the fight against the common enemy of man: tyranny, poverty, disease and war itself.
For the people of the world struggling against the "bonds of misery", the president pledged, "our best efforts to help them help themselves".
He continued: "If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich."
He also appealed to the Soviet Union to begin a new quest for peace.
"Let both sides for the first time, formulate serious and precise proposals for the inspection and control of arms and bring the absolute power to destroy other nations under the absolute control of all nations," he said.
President Kennedy closed his speech with the words: "Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world, ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man."
His words were greeted with rousing applause.

McCain's New Ad and McCain's hypocrisy
by William Domingo
Sat Jul 26, 2008 at 08:16:59 PM PDT
McCain is using Obama's canceled trip to a U.S. militay base in Germany as a reason to claim that Obama is anti-troops, even though Obama's trip was canceled by the Pentagon, not by Obama. Now with McCain going on and on in a political attack ad about what a horrible and un-patiotic thing it was for Obama not to visit those troops, come to find out, McCain knows better. How does he know? Follow me after the jump.
William Domingo's diary :: ::
Barack Obama canceled a pre-planned visit to the troops in Germany yesterday after being told by the Pentagon that the trip would violate a Pentagon policy prohibiting campaign stops on military installations. No problem there.
However, the McCain campaign is now blasting Obama:
The McCain camp has nonetheless been using Obama's canceled trip to insinuate that he's anti-troops. "Barack Obama is wrong," McCain spokesperson Brian Rogers said in a statement yesterday. "It is never 'inappropriate' to visit our men and women in the military."
It turns out the same thing happened to John McCain himself back in April of this year. But of course when it happens to him, he brags that it "was a good thing" that HE didn't visit the troops, "because he always follows the rules."
The problem here is that the McCain campaign was denied a visit to a military base under the same policy back in April. Of course, there was no outcry or false outrage from Brian Rogers at that time.
From CNN:
With Department of Defense rules prohibiting political campaigning on military bases, it was determined that in some cases McCain could visit the installations as a senator but could not engage in any political activity or have news media present.
McCain campaign officials said Thursday they intentionally did not campaign on military property.
"We follow the rules," said senior McCain adviser Steve Schmidt.
I have to ask, just how much lies, hypocrisy, and double-talk is this man willing to resort to in his quest for the presidency?
I am afraid of John McCain. I don't think he's mentally able to be president. I think John McCain in any given moment can go postal !!
Weren't McCain and his wife Cindy (or was it Carol) deeply involved in the Savings & Loan scandal, along with Neal Bush? I must do some research on that - it was back in the 1980s. why isn't this brought up by the media with regard to his record? I think he was maybe even convicted of something?? Does anyone know offhand?
No. They werren't involved at all. One person who onwed a Savings and Loan contributed to his campaigne and asked McCain to contact the regulators. McCain met with them and specifically said he was not requesting any specific action, just wanted to know what the accusations were. The regulators agreed that there was absolutely no attempt to sway opinion. This meeting was investigated and all charges were dropped. It was reopened for political purposes and charges were unanimously dropped again. John McCain said it was an error in judgement to do something that could be misunderstood in that way. Read your history
I read this Q and A and I still don't know where he stands on abortion, gays in the military, taxes, women's issues, energy. There's so central theme to any of his answers, and usually it's simply an evasion. I really like McCain (voted for him in the 2000 primaries) but he seems increasingly out of touch / confused about the problems facing the country and potential solutions. And the battery idea? That's just wacky.
Well McCain is anti abortion, keeps it quiet in hopes of getting more women to vote for him, Whats wacky is he intends to continue Bush's"supply side economics, but has a clear vision for creating jobs??
The two are not compatable.
During my time in school, I was always told not to try to define a term by using the term. McCoo-Coo's statement on the issue of drilling is simply asinine. "Because the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge." That doesn't explain why we should not drill there over off-shore drilling. His response has no substance at all and how can people be so partisan that they would vote for this idiot over voting for the good of our country.
Yes, America and the World knows this idiot for President candidate. Why doesn't anyone confront McCain about his lies, and distortions? Why when a candidate cries fowl with the press, the press loses it's responsiblty in interviews? His foreign policy is dangerous, he is unworthy of the presidency and McCain is disliked around the World.
Republican are famous for making Propa Ganda B.S
On the Surge
The success of the surge......began before the surge....... In other words is isn't from what John MCain said by the American Troops, before the troops was there the surge already been going on many months much earlier in IraQ. John McCain it seems doesn???t know the difference with regards the Sunni and Shiite.
One of the top commanders in Iraq indicated it was not the surge per se and that it was the political compromises and agreements among the Iraqis. The fact that the "Sunni Awakening" or "Anbar Awakening" switched them from supporting Al Qaeda to fighting them began BEFORE the surge (contrary to McCain's false claims) also backs this up.
And the big one of course, the Sunnis ended their boycott of the Malaki govt. and have now teamed up with the Shiite in governing. Very little of this was achieved militarily as McCain and Bush would have you believe.
Just to be clear: Obama visited wounded troops
I can't stress this point enough: during the portion of his trip that was official Senate business -- the portion in Iraq and Afghanistan and Kuwait -- Barack Obama visited with wounded troops, and he did so without any fanfare.
Nonetheless, John McCain is criticizing Barack Obama for not seeing wounded troops at Landstuhl, even though during McCain's most recent Europe trip, he didn't visit them either, despite being just a short drive away.
The funny part is that McCain's trip to Europe was official Senate business, funded by taxpayers. Barack Obama's trip was under political, not as ???Official Senator Visit??? as ???Government Employee??? and his trip was funded by the campaign therefore not ALLOWED . Now, I would never suggest in a million years that John McCain whose several decades of service I can deeply honor he doesn't care about the troops. But it's simply remarkable that he sees fit to make such an attack on Barack Obama.
"John McCain is a dedicated impulsive hard-core gambler who enjoys few things more than a 14 hour session at the craps table, he???s more than capable of ???SELLING COUNTRY SOULS??? to recover his personal Loses???
McCain is acting like a 5th grader. Name-calling and sneering is juvenile, immature and shows more about him than his opponent.
A lot us do not know who McCain is and there is little to no coverage of how he ditched his first wfie and family to marry an heiress, much to the chagrin of the Reagans who quickly broke ties with him. It was the Reagans who helped the first Mrs. McCain to get back on her feet after being blind-sided by the divorce, according to a Vanity Fair article. This shows that McCain is self-serving and dishonest, worse than Bill Clinton. He carried a 9 month affair with Cindy while married and living with Carol McCain. Some family values.
You better question where you get your information. Vanity Fair has been know to libel and has been found guilty of Libel in court. They will print anything to sell a magazine.
Oh, please. It has been widely reported that McCain carried on a relationship with Cindy while married to Carol. They married shortly after his divorce was finalized. McCain himself has admitted it in his memoirs.
