Forget about your gripes against Newsweek. Your question should be ". . . why is the news media still making the same mistakes it made since GWB's presidency in 2000???? The mistakes the media made with GWB was not to challenge the GOP with tough questions. The media is making same mistakes again with McCain.

McCain and/or his camp average 1 to 2 significant gaffes per day. And the "keystone-cop-media" appears to be cowardly and still not follow up with tough but fair questions.
Here are some examples.

McCain tells reporter that he disagrees with Obama's decision to do head-of-state tour and he likened it to a victory lap. McCain continues by telling reporter that he would rather wait until he gets presidency before doing foreign tour.

Duuhhhhhhh!!!! The reporter should have been all over McCain's response reminding McCain that he already been to Iraq, Canada, Columbia, and Mexico since he wrapped up the primary. How could McCain have forgotten that? And while in Canada, McCain gave speech against Obama???s position on NAFTA. Eventually this information came out, only because an Obama supporter. A quick search of Google could have help the news media

No sooner then it was confirmed the Maliki government and Obama were on same page for a 16-montg withdrawal; Rep. Heather Wilson and McCain were claiming they could do less than "16-month withdrawal". Did McCain forget that he has slapped down "advocates of ???timetables" for 3-years as "cut-and-runners".

Duuhhhhhhh!!!! Why didn???t the reporter ask Wilson or McCain the following . . . "on the FLIP-FLOP scale of 1-to-10, where does the change from '100-year-stay' to less than '16-months' rank????

McCain is having a freaking conniption because Obama won't kiss his a** over the significance of the 'surge'. McCain want Obama to "effectively" say that the "surge alone" won the war and the U.S. has a political, diplomatic, monetary, military, and economic victory in Iraq.

Why are there are no reporters brave enough to respond to McCain in the following fashion, . . . "McCain are you willing to set an example for Obama by admitting you were wrong for supporting the 2003 invasion of Iraq under false WMD pretense?" Yes or No?

SUMMARY
(a.) I mean no disrespect to the elderly, but I am wondering why McCain is averaging 1-to-2 'significant' gaffes per day. (b.) Why so much McCain forgetfulness and/or gaffes? (c.) And why is the media (print, radio, visual) is allowing McCain to get a way with so many blunders? (d.) And most importantly, why is McCain getting away with "softball" questions and Obama is getting beamed every time he steps up to the plate?

If you assume no up for grab states and award each candidate those votes thay would get based on todays polls it would be. Obama 322 McCain 216.

Real politics has done the math and shows the electoral count as it would be today with and without toss ups.

I like to go on different discussion boards around the web, and whenever a so called republican disagrees with Obama, why do they resort to throwing insults and ridiculous catchphrases? Surely there is a sane, intelligent republican out there that can have a decent debate?

UPDATE: John Edwards' secret meeting with his mistress at the Beverly Hilton hotel has now become part of a criminal complaint.

NATIONAL ENQUIRER reporters Alan Butterfield and Alexander Hitchen filed a criminal complaint with the Beverly Hills Police Department on Thursday, July 24, charging that hotel security acted unlawfully while the reporters were trying to question the former senator.

Edwards now could be contacted by police to give an eyewitness account of what occurred.

Hotel security tried to stop the reporters from questioning Edwards in the basement of the hotel at approximately 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, July 22 after Edwards came off an elevator and appeared to be attempting to leave the hotel unseen.

Don't look good. I actually feel terrible for Elizabeth.
