I think it is the responsibility of the television station owners NOT to run ads that they know are not true. Once something that is untrue has been put on the airwaves, it doesn't matter how many people say it is not true...a lot of people think it IS true because it was on television.

What about fact checking the not drilling for oil comment. Was this article released by the OBAMA in 08 campaign?

After the last two weeks, we know one thing for sure, McCain can no longer claim the high road. I feel sorry for all you McCain supporters. It must be tough coming up with ways to kid yourself about his integrity. As an independent, I do not accept out right lies as good campaign strategy. I believe this is the case for most independents. John McCain has proven he is the one willing to say anything to be elected. Supporters of John McCain, please make an intelligent argument supporting the following John McCain statements:

1. Obama would rather lose the war to enhance is political future, i.e., Obama is unpatriotic.
2. The inexperienced Obama is responsible for the higher fuel prices.
3. Obama is akin to Brittney and Paris in celebrity status.

While you're at it, how can you support someone who believes even now after all we know that the Iraq and Vietnam war were just wars, that is, he wouldn't change a thing accept for tactics.

Funny. It's fine to take Obama's statement out of context but do the same to McCain and the GOP goes on the offensive. Remember when McCain said that 100 years in Iraq would be fine with him? (and yes, factcheck called out the DNC for that very similar attack)

Wow! What a bunch of whiners on this blog! All you care about is what someone said today in a gotcha moment. Who said this and who said that and how came it be taken out of context. We have people without health care, soldiers dying overseas, record debt, high gas prices, thousands of foreclosures and no respect around the world. And all you people can do is base your vote and conversation on what a candidate may have said. This says more about you people than Obama or McCain! No wonder this country elected Bush! Twice!

Can Newsweek be MORE obvious? It's nice to know that Newsweek no longer wants to represent true journalism.

McCain I mean McBush changes his stance on issues more than a model changes outfits in a runway show because the issues are not what he or the republicans are concerned with. They dont want to be confused by facts or reality, they just try to repeat falsehoods over and over until people start to believe it to be so, thus creating they're own "reality". This works on the ignorant and uninformed who take their word as gospel, but for those of us living in the real world, it is offensive, demeaning and an insult to our intelligence. If you've noticed McCain doesn't want to talk about the issues because he has no answers, he only wants to say "Obama is wrong about this, Obama is wrong about that". He spends more time talking about Obama than he does talking about himself and his stances. McCain and his wife both said he was going to run a clean campaign and stick to the issues, so much for that. McCain doesn't have ideas other than those he borrows from Bush Co., Obama does have ideas and he wants to debate them, McCain just wants to mire us down in personal attacks. Political dialogue in this country doesn't need to be dumbed down to childish name calling, we need to seriously figure out how we are going to turn our great country back in th right direction. McCain is right - Obama is just another left-wing celebrity with no substance, just like Al Gore and Clinton. I'm sure we'll see him rocking a bass guitar on stage with Bono, like Clinton did with his sax, or maybe profiteering from Global Warming, like Gore.
