I swim three times a week and I hate water getting into my ears, I use tailored ear plugs that completely seal my ear drums, and no water comes in. Easy.

During a scuba diving trip to Bonaire, my ear began to hurt because of all the time under water. We had no rubbing alcohol but we did have double distilled Dutch gin. It worked and we offered it to our friend who had a painful ear. She said, "Not unless you have a little paper umbrella".
    Hydrogen peroxide works, too.

Of course you could always use the age old solution. Add a drop of rubbing alcohol in the ear canal. It will combine with the water, reduce the surface tension and the canal will clear itself with gravity.

Of course, the age old solution is to put a drop of rubbing alcohol in your ear. It mixes with the water, reduces the surface tension and the watter fall out easily.
