Crocs are the most comfortable shoe I"ve ever worn. They're not sweaty, the airholes make them the coolest shoe I've ever worn also. They're not ugly, they're just clogs and clogs have been around forever. If they're in a neutral colour, there's nothing wrong with how they look at all. The little decorations and outrageous colours and fur inside are great. They let you be as outrageous as you want to be. Why anyone should have a problem with them is beyond me. They cover the foot DECENTLY, unlike flip flops which force people to look at someone's toenails, gross....I don't care if you have the best pedicure in town, I don't want to see your toenails. As far as sexy, in a slender or fit person the clog style and generous width actually brings out the ankles and lower leg very nicely. Sexy people don't stop being sexy because they're wearing Crocs, use your heads if you're making those kinds of comments. I haven't stopped wearing all my other fashionable shoes but I consider my neutral Crocs very fashionable. I even have some in ballet shoe style and Mary Janes. Trust me, people still get laid while going about in Crocs. They have their place so get used to them.

I am a nurse and I wear crocs. My feet don't hurt near as much after a 12 hour shift as they did with other shoes. Are they ugly....maybe, but, are they comfortable....yes. I don't wear neon colors or the tie dyed look....plain black with no charms in the holes. This is still America. We are free to wear them, you are free to hate them. I don't agree with your opinion, however, this was a good article.

Wow, Steve Tuttle... you are a piece of work. I'm sorry but, I don't find your rant on bullshit witty, funny, or nearly as impressive as you, or some of the other people who admire your mindless babble on brightly colored plastic shoes, think. You're clearly impressed with yourself.... but really have no right to be. I'm not offended by your disapproval of crocs. Nor do I really care what you think. But, what does bother me are arrogant pricks thinking they have the right to enlighten others into 'ending our long national nightmare'. How dramatic.

Wow, you sound like a complete d-bag. You should probably write articles for Rolling Stone.

      • Posted By: doctordee @ 08/06/2008 1:56:04 AM

Chef Rip - where have you been all my life? Seriously. You are truly hilarious, unlike many who think that they're funny but aren't even remotely amusing - not even slightly. I wrote a post - buried amidst the wreckage of August 1st postings regarding Crocs and the Rapture. Actually, the good news, followed by more good news: the number of the beast is Crocs, not 666, the other good news - only those wearing the bloody things are going to be Raptured come the rapture, which will raise the average planetary I.Q. by a good 30-50 points minimum AND rid the planet of the heinous detritous crap used by the Anti-Christ to convceal the cloven-hooves of his bunioned progeny. (Hospitals are free zones and also meant to throw the ignorant ones off track, as they associate goodness (MDs and nurses) with Crocs. Crocs in a hospital locker are not part of the Armageddon plan. I know, because Joseph Smith told me this in a golden cloud whilst I was watching South Park one night.....

You don't care what Steve thinks?? Really?? Seriously?? So you decided to respond to the article why?? Because you don't care right?? Wish you lived in my area so I can make some comments when you walk past.

I admit, crocs are a little weird looking, but they're really comfortable. Besides, even if they were the worst shoe on earth (which you obviously think they are), what's the point of making such a big deal out of it?

  • Posted By: HailDorothyPenner @ 08/06/2008 1:52:29 AM

My pride falters at the "sandal style" Fuglies (a.k.a. Crocs) I bought. They're the damnest, most comfortable sandals I've ever walked in. One day, to school and back, in flip-flops gave me NASTY blisters on the bottom of my feet that became unwelcome guests for over a month. My feet thank me for my Fuglies.

Besides which, my pride doesn't need stroking and sixteen-year-olds sure as hell don't need to get laid.

Croc's are great... If you want to have your foot sucked into an escalator, They''re a safty hazard, burn them...

  • Posted By: Shade @ 08/06/2008 1:48:01 AM

You can also get you croc bearing feet sucked into escaltors... They're ugly and a safty hazard... We should have bonfires in which people should be made to throw them,

Your telling Steve to shut up and mind him own business when your bringing yourself into the equation by commenting, which, in fact, is making you part of his business so why dont you mind your own business. And this is America like you said and he has the freedom to write whatever he wants and if him writing this is ruining things for people because he said he doesnt like crocs then you have a sad sad life. I really dont care about crocs and have no opinion either way, I just love reading comments like yours and laughing how miserable your life would be since your crying over a comment board because someone bashed one pair of shoes you own. Watch the news and use your brain to think about something that really matters in our country.

    • Posted By: Ukecloud @ 08/06/2008 1:43:45 AM

I find your cynic critic ways amusing. Is it ironic that I'm laughing at your comment?

  • Posted By: DorkinMN @ 08/06/2008 1:42:03 AM

Croc's have to be about the best shoe that I have bought. I wear them for comfort, and I like the fact that they are made with an antibacterial material. I have a five year old that is on her third pair. She doesn't wear them out, they get too small. Imagine that, shoes that your child doesn't wear out. These are the only shoes that my child doesn't complain about hurting her feet. They wash up great in the sink with soap and water, then off to church we go. Yes, my children do wear them to church. As parents we have to pick our battles so if God doesn't care what we wear to church, then why should anyone else.

  • Posted By: pushpull @ 08/06/2008 1:37:17 AM

At first , I would not have been caught dead in Crocs....they are silly looking. I got a pair (in black) after a knee surgery and they are ,prehaps the most comfortable shoes I ever had. I wouldnt wear them sheep hunting or anything, but they have a place...........better get used to them.

  • Posted By: teacherlady @ 08/05/2008 9:22:06 PM

Were you aware there is a presidential race going on? I am concerned you're raising your child to sit on park benches and count shoes, while teachers, like myself (who wear crocs because we're on our feet for 7 straight hours), are given the duty to educate these same children on current events. It's sad to see such a pathetic story covered. Try teaching your children to accept people for who they are, not what they wear. Maybe you should also teach him and yourself to count past 12, that's just a starting point.

    • Posted By: doctordee @ 08/06/2008 1:31:40 AM

Please woman. I'm a teacher and I would not be caught wearing Crocs in a classroom even if I were a cadaver on the slab!

  • Posted By: doctorzoom @ 08/05/2008 9:43:28 PM

i've never had any sort of emotional attachment to the brand, but after reading this article I have never wanted a pair of Crocs so bad in my entire life!

    • Posted By: doctordee @ 08/06/2008 1:28:16 AM

You aren't a Doctor Zoom. BADLY! It's an adjective and by all means, wear Crocs, b/c I'm single and I've already been using the "Berks and black socks / avoid all Crocs" a Scary Man Beware tells to weed out the intellectually challenged. (Yeah, yeah, I know about the nurse and M.D. thing, but whilst on duty - fine. Not an issue. Totally NOT an issue. One of my best loved family members in the world is an R.N. She wears Crocs at work. No big deal. But she looks like a vixen off duty. Therein lies the rub, false Doc. Now get on your Segway and be gone!

I hate crocs. I had someone buy me a pair of my birthday...bright pink ones at that, and guess where they are. In the back of my closet, buried under the couple of other pairs of tennis shoes that I have. They are not being worn and are just going to grow dust on them. So I fully agree and enjoyed this article.

crocs are by far the ugliest moat disgusting shoe trend ever. i love shoes. i absolutely hate crocs. there is nothing cool about them and they make you feet sweat (so my fashion lacking friends tell me). if you put them on then there should be some rule about having to put on clown make-up that way we can all recognize you for the idiot you are by your face and not your shoes. please put on slippers or flip flops, NOT crocs!

  • Posted By: carina @ 08/06/2008 1:23:36 AM

This guy seriously waisted 30 minutes of his life writing this? He must be the one not getting laid. but i agree they are ugly but confy. i only wore them when i worked at the store not in public tho. they are now in a box under my bed

  • Posted By: DorkinMN @ 08/06/2008 1:22:31 AM

Nice article NOT! I actually can't believe you got paid to write it. Croc's are about the best shoe anyone has ever made. We are a family of four and we all own at least one pair of Croc's. I have a five year old who is on her third pair. These are the only shoes I have bought her that she has never complained about hurting her feet. She gets a new pair not because they have wore out, but because her feet grew. Wow! Imagine that, my child doesn't wear out her shoes. They wash up great, throw them in the sink with some soap and water, and off to church we go. Yes, I do let the kids wear them to church. As parents we choose to pick our battles and if God doesn't care what we wear to church, then why should you. Oh, and by the way, I don't have any problem getting laid!

  • Posted By: carina @ 08/06/2008 1:20:53 AM

Someone seriously waisted about a half hour of his life writing a bunch of nothing. He must have no sex life!

  • Posted By: Chef Rip @ 08/06/2008 12:30:07 AM

Haha... pretty much said what I/almost everybody was thinking. And to the people who complain about this article, you obviously own at least 4 pairs of crocs, have no life, and never get laid. Nobody HAS to wear crocs because their feet hurt or whatever... blah blah, cry about it some more. Do me a favor and get these things called insoles that you put into shoes, remember those? Yeah they really do work. You can have just as bad back problems from sleeping in your bed... I hope they don't make croc mattresses! I would rather walk around in my bare feet with shards of glass in them than a pair of those atrocities.

    • Posted By: doctordee @ 08/06/2008 1:19:24 AM

Double high-five and a classy b.j. for the "croc mattress" bit. Very well done. I applaud you!

  • Posted By: toocoolforschool @ 08/06/2008 12:39:45 AM

Unless you have ever been diagnosed with feet problems, such as plantar fasciitis, heelspurs, bunions (from wear "pretty" uncomfortable shoes), to were you can't walk, your constantly suffer from ankle, knee and lower back problems, then you have no right to criticize Croc wears. Many times Crocs will solve these problems just like the $200 plus really ugly customized orthotic shoes that the podiatrists recommend. In fact many podiatrist recommend crocs. For all your croc haters, get a life. Stop putting people down, just so you can feel better about yourself.

    • Posted By: Chef Rip @ 08/06/2008 12:48:39 AM

If someone has all of those problems you just described and a podiatrist recommends a single pair of crocs are the answer to all of their problems, than these things need to be on every single person in America! First of all, have you ever watched how people walk sometimes? Slouching themselves, necks down. etc. That is a big part of the problem right there. So don't tell me to get a life just because you think crocs are the next best thing to a cure of cancer.
