HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I love this article. I think Crocs are the ugliest shoe on this planet. (okay maybe not THE ugliest, but pretty darn close). I do, unfortunatly, own a pair and so do two of my children, but I didn't cough up the money for them and I only wear them in my front yard or to walk my daughter to the bus stop. Crocs have definately gotten out of control, especially with all the off brand knock offs, but what can you do??

  • Posted By: amherstchick @ 08/05/2008 11:20:32 PM

That is sooooo funny and I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree!!!!!

  • Posted By: Rolandg87 @ 08/05/2008 11:20:01 PM

I agree with you. They are so ugly and they are everywhere. I have never bought Crocs and plan to never buy a pair. This is the reason why gas prices are so high, Crocs are everywhere. Crocs are made out of plastic, which comes from oil. Thats part of the price of gas. So, to say again, I agree with you, GET RID OF CROCS!!!!

  • Posted By: Jamiedan @ 08/05/2008 11:19:42 PM

Ya they are the most ugly thing ever but i guess i will have to admite to wearing them when no one is in the house with me. the second i hear the door bell ring i throw them down the hall and hope the person doesn't want to come in.

  • Posted By: hichamswife65 @ 08/05/2008 11:19:11 PM

Well I for one have several pairs of crocs and if the writer of the article would know is that they are the most comfortable shoes to chase after kids with....yes they are not attractive, and no one is tio judge what others wear..let alone write about it without even wearing them....so stop judging and write something worthwhile .....instead of attacking shoes you know nothing about....

  • Posted By: Rolandg87 @ 08/05/2008 11:17:04 PM

Great story. I agree with you. I've never bought any or worn a pair, and I don't plan to. I believe that Crocs have an impact on gas prices. Because they are made of plastic, which comes from oil. So I agree with you, GET RID OF CROCS!!!!!!!!

I have a lady at my office that wears Crocks....she is 60, obese, her teeth look like she is from Oklahoma, and she could only get a date if she pays and the guy is drunk. Guys who were Crocks obviously don't do construction work or physical labor. I think they are the 'in' thing for welfare recipiants and democrates....maybe I should ask the next person I see in them.

    • Posted By: kittykat252008 @ 08/05/2008 11:14:07 PM

Sorry but I have to disagree with you. My husband wears crocs and he loves them. And yes he does do physical labor. So the next time that you post a comment you need to get your facts straight.ANd by the way we do not get welfare. You really need to think about this if you wear heavy boots at work all day and on your days off are you going to put heavy boots on or are you going to put on some comfy shoes. I mean they are just shoes for crying out loud. If you have nothing better to do all day beside just judging people for what they wear than you are the dork. So the next time that you look in the mirror say to yourself do I wear stuff that might offend other people cause I am sure that you do. So say to yourself that I like it and that is all that matters.

Now, see, that's not why I read it. From the overly-cutesy "long national nightmare" lead-in, I thought that this dweeb had written something about how Crocs aren't recyclable, how they're made of petroleum products and we ought to be avoiding that ***, or even, really, how the entire manufacturing industry of this country is in CHINA and HONDURAS now, and maybe we ought to support domestically-produced products.

But no, just a bitchy little man, playing "fashion police" on us great, unwashed masses who consider comfort and practicality over "fashion acceptability," like you could get in any vapid fashion/hate-yourself-until-you-buy-our-products "magazine" on the planet. Huh. I thought that this was Newsweek. Silly me.

And how gauche of me and statica to not "try the light side of life," aka repubilcunts ignoring everything that's actually WRONG in the world because then they can't enjoy their *** CAVIAR if they hear our "bitching," aka reality. Please, please forgive us for our offense to the obviously so much higher-cultured, our betters in this world.

  • Posted By: MMMMMMMM @ 08/05/2008 10:55:05 PM

who cares. i hate em too but damn, you are a grown man and your kid looks up to you. be the better person and set a good example. btw there's some terrible *** going on around the globe. Just don't teach your kid to make fun of people who look different. that would suck.... totally suck.

Excuse me, is not a parents job to instill hatred into their offspring? It's ok for Steve Tuttle then it should be alright for everyone else. Can't wait to see this kid atop some bell tower

In America we can say what we want and wear what we want even if it's silly or outdated like your 25 year old t-shirts with holes in them. BTW: I have heard of folks being asked not to come into private establishments wearing such a shirt because it is an affront to those of us who care about how we present ourselves in public. Crocs afford people the chance to individualize a very cost effective shoe that is made in every size imaginable. A fad, yes certainly, but one that makes folks happy, hurts no one, and is actually very comfortable. It's too bad that you seem so closed minded that you cannot just let folks have fun. That is usually called getting old and crotchety. I can only hope that you are such a prolific writer that this little sojourn was also just a fun little sideline for all of the important pieces of journalism that you produce, because after all, this is America and if we can't make fun of ourselves then who can!

I think they are ugly too, but functional. I have a pair of plain white ones. I use them when I take my boat out. I can wade into the water with them on to get the boat off the trailer and they won't fall off and dry out enough quickly for me to jump back in the truck. They also do not mark up the boat and are great because they don't get nasty from being wet.

I just made a login, which I know I will never use, just to tell you.....you"re my hero.

Amen! I believe that these shoes are perhaps the most hideous accessory to grace the earth since the male one peice bathing suit (circa 1900). The most depressing matter is that the shoes will probably outlive the human race based on the decompostion rate of neon green antibacterial rubber. On another note.... I see no injustice in teaching your son or anyone for that matter good fashion sense. After all its our fashion sense that determines so much in our lives and if by helping someone in their styling you are able to increase their social standing and consequently their social "under"standing you are able to open a million more doors for them- Jobs, significant others, friends and self confidence. Leave the crocs where they belong... off your feet and back into the everglades.

OMG! I totally agree with bianca. After all, this is an election year and we are in the middle of a war. How shallow! Is comfort important? you bet! especially if you work on your feet or have any foot or leg problems. I have enough problems trying to find a pair of shoes I can spend eight straight hours in without having to worry about looking around to see if i'm being judged by some prubescent-brained navel-gazer. Find something important to rant about.

You must be a dork, cause you seem to have way too much time on your hands to feel so strongly about shoes. Heres some advice... Get a LIFE!

  • Posted By: statica30 @ 08/05/2008 11:00:13 PM

I can't believe the author got a pay check for this. If the only reason you can see for people to not wear them is fashion, then there's something wrong with you. I can't believe there were two pages written about the ugliness of shoes. it's footwear. and there are more important things to be writing about than how you can't stand what someone is wearing on their feet.

I could not have said it any better. Actually, i don't think i could have come close as this article truly brought out everything i had in me about "these things". I was laughing pretty hard through out reading the article and nodding in agreement as i continued to read. Although i will say, i was waiting for the punch line regarding the beginning of the article. Did that family of dorks ever show up? Finally, i can't wait to see more comments like the one from BIANCAB922 who take things so seriously yet have it in them to purchase, wear, love and defend "these things"! Bianca, you're right, there are much more important things to worry about, this is what we call the lighter side of life, you should try it once in a while!
