I agree with the writer! Crocs are the ugliest shoes ever! Why would someone wear them in public? Keep them in the garden!

Did you get paid to write this lame article? Good thing I have 2 nephews in Iraq protecting your right to do so. Maybe donating your time at a VA hospital or other VERY NEEDY cause in your area could be a positive way to spend some time with your son. Teaching him to sit around and judge others, calling people names and not accept that each person has ther OWN sense of style is HORRIBLE as a father! Boy, a trip to Disneyland with you must be a BLAST sitting on park benches. lol Stop judging people and find a topic worth writing about.

Lighten up, I am in the Army and I'm glad he's exercising his right to free speech, just because you don't like what he has to say doesn't make him less worthy of that right that I fought for and continue to fight for. You don???t have to read it, it was in Newsweek Online???s Fashion section, it???s not like you were reading The New York Times. Smile and proudly wear what you want to ;)

okay, this is the best article i've honestly ever read. I cannot express how passionate i am about how much i hate crocs. They are hideous, they make people look like their constantly gardening and wanted to add some color to their already questionable wardrobe. I hate crocs, thank you for writing this. :]

Crocs are terrible shoes and I wouldn't dream of wearing them, but I also wouldn't dream of obsessing over them and writing about them. It also seems like this man actually likes them...

  • Posted By: elohel @ 08/05/2008 9:44:13 PM

dude get over yourself. crocs are the perfect lake shoe, and while I wouldn't make them a staple of my wardrobe, I have no problem strutting around town in them on the way home from a lake visit.

you think your so clever for making fun of ugly ass shoes. some of us aren't thwarted by appearances.

If it weren't for Crocs and mulletts we would have to go back to making fun of people based their affinity for Nascar, line dancing, and country western tunes. We should be grateful to the people that continue in this fashion no-no for helping us to laugh in a world that isn't always funny!

crocs are ridiculous, ugly shoes that scream 'suburban elitist '. they draw way too much attention to someones feet with absurdly bright colors. if comfortable is the argument then i'll wear my pajamas to the office.

  • Posted By: armygirldeuce @ 08/05/2008 9:37:26 PM

Isn't it great that we live in a country where we can wear ugly shoes if we want to and where we can publicly despise ugly shoes as well. God bless the U.S. and having a good laugh.

  • Posted By: radiogreenradio @ 08/05/2008 9:35:30 PM

crocs are ridiculous fashion statements screaming "i am elitist" with no sense whatsoever of fashion. they are brightly colored and draw way too much attention to feet which for most are not the best feature of a grown person. they are conformist, borign and really need to go to the nearest landfill or recycling center fast.

Wow look at these comments...I see ppl criticising him for wasting time writing this but umm...are they wasting time replying? And he never said they weren't comfy but you gotta admit they are butt ugly they really are. And yes I despise those ugly ugly shoes. I seen a little boy with a pair on im like nooooo. Little boys dont need crocs. ugh

As a nurse, I am constantly amazed at the amount of otherwise intelligent and educated individuals in the medical field who wear these abominations on their feet. As someone who spends 12-14 hours per shift on their feet I can honestly say a good pair of athletic shoes are all you need for comfort, arch support, etc. Sign me up for the Croc-haters club!

Thank you for your mature comment. If you had actually done some research on this article (instead of presenting your own baseless opinion); you would have realized that there is a segment of the population that Crocs have been a lifesaver for. My son has Autism and is unable to wear shoes due to his sensory issues. He is able to tolerate Crocs and this has allowed us (his parents) to take him places that he wouldn't normally have been able to go (restaurants, grocercy stores, etc...) I'm glad that you have praised your child for laughing at others due to their appearance. It is parents like you that make having a child with a disability so difficult.

Next time, you might just want to THINK for a minute before you open up your mouth and give everyone your worthless opinion.

I agree with you 100%! Wonderful comments!

      • Posted By: L.G. @ 08/05/2008 9:30:11 PM

I really don't think he's hating on people who need to wear shoes like Crocs...I think he's commenting on the tastes of people who could wear just about anything else and STILL choose to wear Crocs. Oh, and what exactly did people do in the olden days before Crocs were invented. For example, the ancient folks who had to decide what shoes to wear, say, 10 years ago? Where were they without their lifesaving Crocs?

This article was pretty funny and only meant to make other people laugh a little about our fashion sense. I don't really like Crocs but they're great shower shoes! So relax and laugh about it because we all have silly opinions about each other and what we wear. That's what makes us human. It's ok to have an opinion because we should also realize that not everybody will agree with us. However, we should be mature enough to respect each other's opinions without taking them personally.

Come on, with all of the important news stories out there, all this guy can do is bash Crocs? Stop your Croc-watching and go find some real news.

    • Posted By: armygirldeuce @ 08/05/2008 9:21:44 PM

The funny thing is, most of the "real news" out there will never get this type of response, I enjoy the entertainment of the back and forth on this one, but everyone just needs to get a life...although...I did learn that Crocs have many benefits for those with health problems or other disabilities...so for those of you who think this article should never have been written, at least take solace in the fact that it might make some of use more educated and a little less likely to turn our nose up at Crocs (even if they are the ugliest shoes ever). Oh, and one final thought to many of the posters here: It takes about 10 seconds to spell check, copy and paste what you have written in to your word processing program, there is no need to make yourself look like a complete idiot when your intent was to discredit someone else.

      • Posted By: armygirldeuce @ 08/05/2008 9:26:36 PM

OK, and to hold myself to the same standard, that should say "us" and not "use" ;)

Oh wa. Let's have a little fun! Do we have to be so serious all of the frickin' time? I love this article. Super cheeky, smart and funny. Keep it up! (Oh ya and I'm a fellow Crocs Hatah!)

im so gald you wrote this....I think I love you.

  • Posted By: Oysters&Chocolate @ 08/05/2008 9:23:44 PM

Hahah! This is brilliant. I actually used to work at Jibbitz (the place that sells the stuff you stuff in the sweat holes) and they offered me a free pair of Crocs. I laughed in their faces, "I would never wear those horrifying things!" to which they suggested I might gift them to a friend. "I would never, in my right mind, gift someone I love with those horrifying things!" Unfortunately an item that inspires such hatred, also inspires a great deal of love...hopefully with their stock falling Crocs will be soon be a laughable memory of those crazy early 2000s when people really lost their fashion sense - much like the neon sunglasses and cuffed, white washed jeans from the '80s.
