LOL i always wondered why people wore slippers/sandals made of playdough

Did you get paid to write this lame article? Good thing I have 2 nephews in Iraq protecting your right to do so. Maybe donating your time at a VA hospital or other VERY NEEDY cause in your area could be a positive way to spend some time with your son. Teaching him to sit around and judge others, calling people names and not accept that each person has their OWN sense of style is HORRIBLE as a father! Boy, a trip to Disneyland with you must be a BLAST sitting on park benches. lol Stop judging people and find a topic worth writing about.

To be completely honest the only reason I even decided to read this is because I thought it was some kind of joke, I agree with Kbowes and swiss girl but my issue is also this: what kind of message are sending your child to criticize what people wear? crocs or no crocs shoes do not tell you about a person, the fact that
they even let you post this tells me this is the most ridiculous website in the world... I can not get over the fact someone ACTUALLY sat and wrote about crocs, but Thanks for letting me know there are people more pathetic making a website over it. Seriously if you hate crocs don't wear them but everyone is entitled to wearing whatever they want. I don't even like them but I do not mind someone else wearing them, they are not affecting my life and people who do mind and sign up to things like "I hate crocs" are IGNORANT, those are the same people who think the homeless live in the street by choice! smh. disgusting.

It's about time someone wrote about these disasters. But what about Uggs and the fools who STILL wear them...even in the Summer...WITH SHORTS! People need to wake up...and they're also lucky I can't get a permit to carry.
The old adage comes to mind...you know, the one about jumping off a bridge.
    Enjoy and hate away, losers!

I completely agree, what GOD AWFUL shoes. Now I will say this I am one of those who believe in the saying "All in the name of Fashion", so if the shoe is gorgeous and painful, suck it up. But people there are SO many other shoes, that are just as comfortable, and a lot less ugly. More importantly we as Americans have lost our standard of dress, we do not get dressed for church, everything is semi formal, nothing is important enought to get dressed to, so this Croc thing is not a shock. But come on in the work place? I agree god awful shoes!

Hey divebum... I mentioned the danger of Crocs on children because I wished to post a warning. Do you have kids? Try putting them in an ascalator and watch thier foor get mangeld by the escalator and listen to them panic and scream as blood, your blood by birth, spill onto the tile or cement or whever the escalator is then come and tell me my child or I am weak or going to raise weak children! Brother you dont know who I am or what I do for a living or anything about my children or family. You have basically verbally attacked what I said by saying my kids arew going to grow up weak and the process of elimination ( weak die off- strong survive) will be in eefect. Pardon me while I really get pissed off at you saying my kids are expendable! Grow up Jerk and perhaps stop attacking some good information just because you feel threatened by what I said somehow!

I thought this article was hilarious! No one wants to see a well-dressed person wearing orange blobs. Why such a beating for such a humorous article? We're all saints who would never judge by appearance until we see someone different from us walking down the street. Thanks to Mr. Tuttle for being so honest about it. Perhaps those who wear Crocs aren't dorks and truly believe that no one should be judged unfairly. But that sure hasn't stopped the onslaught for an editorial piece by an editorial writer in a country that believes in free speech.

I still don't see why he hates them so... or did I miss something??

  • Posted By: voodooNOUVEAU @ 08/05/2008 9:13:49 PM

I totally agree...but, what about Uggs? They, too, should be banished as should the idiots wearing them in the Summer with SHORTS!!! What the hell is wrong with the general public? i.e.: 99% of you!

I think this article was hilarious!! I agree 100%! My sister bought a pair recently and I made fun of her for it. She works in the boating industry and blabbered on about how practical they are though she never is actually on a boat herself and has no real use or need for them other than for fashion. I am reminded of the "jellies" fad of the eighties myself, my sister and all of our childhood friends succumbed to along with New Kids on the Block and other embarassing things whenever I see them. I noticed a lot of people writing in to defend their purchases which I find as hilarious and the croc fashion fad. I can kind of understand there are those who need to wear them for medical reasons and my boyfriend has a pair for work purposes (he works on yachts) but I would refuse to walk beside a friend in public wearing those things and would photograph them wearing them to embarass them in the future with (just like my pictures of me wearing jellies and hammer pants from the eighties).

Thank god someone else feels this way!!! I'm in Old Town Alexandria and see people walking around with them on and wonder "why oh why???". Yes, there are more important topics in the world but this article IS posted in the Newsweek Culture section. There is a shop on Union St that carries different types of Crocs and during my lunch break when I see people going in and coming back out I think "I don't care how comfortable Crocs are, you look like an idiot!!"

I have co-workers that wear these "crocks" to work. Yuck I work at a hospital do they realize how many different bio-hazard liquids can fall on your foot. YUCK! Some people are just stupid! Oh and stop bitching about this article if you didn't like it 30 seconds in you could have stopped reading.

If you are embarrased - then don't read. You weren't embarassd enough to contribute to a discussion on it either =) Think about it as a distraction if you are one of those affected by job loss, military deaths, or threatened with terrorism. If not, then relax... and wear flip flops instead of crocs.

"Keep your thoughts to yourself." That's a funny comment, isn't it? If we all kept our thoughts to ourselves, including you "live-laugh-love", this world would be an incredibly boring, conformist place. Don't ever think for one second that you didn't express your opinion openly to someone who wholeheartedly disagreed with you - the mere fact that you chose to write it here shows that you care more about it than you want people to think. Sneakers are comfortable and very easy to keep clean - you just throw 'em in the washer. That's why so many doctors and teachers I see around wear sneakers. Crocs aren't any more or less comfortable or easy to keep clean - antimocrobial plastic only stays antimicrobial so long.

They are pretty ugly looking. It is kind of A stupid topic but I was in the same boat. I made fun of people that would wear these things. Then I was deported to Iraq for A year and when I was given A free pair of crocs, I tried them out. Its no fashion show out here so who cares right? Exactly nobody. We use them as shower shoes and they actually are comfortable. I guess what im saying is, dont knock em til you try em. If you hate crocs that much, dont buy them.

I understand where this guy is coming from, but it is a little much. There's nothing wrong with disregarding how stupid you may look in public. Personally, I'm more annoyed that so many people wear pefectly good t-shirts and hoodies that have been homogenized with a bland logo, as if the wearer wants to be identified as a company stooge an not a individual, but what do I know or need t care about how other people dress.

I'm laughing the hardest at people who take an article like this serously. Come on, lighten up people.
