Wow, I'm so glad this article was posted. I cannot stand those terrible, sorry excuses for shoes. And I think it's funny that people are posting negative comments about this article. I can't believe so many people like Crocs...it amazes me how so many people can have such bad taste. So they're comfortable, so what? There are LOTS of other equally comfortable shoes out there that people won't make fun of you for wearing. And how hilarious is it that the author is teaching his son to call people dorks? Sounds like a pretty cool, laid-back dad to me. Besides, if the kid doesn't learn it from his dad, he'll learn it from his friends. Get off your high horse and stop acting like you've never said anything mean about someone.

ok... the only people whole should wear crocs are nurses and itty bitty babies... not even gardeners...just...NO! ewww crocs make me gag... this one girl in my highschool actually tripped and fell down the stairs BECAUSE of her crocs (one of those nasty charm things popped out and stepped on it and slipped and fell) i couldnt stop laughing... serves her right for wearing those nasty ass things in the first place...

Screw you. My kid has incredibly flat feet - waaaaay overpronates. She hates sneakers and anything else that take any amount of time to put on. In the summer, shoes must be cool and comfortable. So, she can wear Crocs and have decent support for her arches and ankles or wear flip flops, which hurt her feet after about an hour. I don't give a crap what Crocs look like (they are ugly!) - but they're comfy for my kid. It sucks that you teach your kid to worry about such trivial things. And it sucks that if he were on the playground with my kid, he'd probably make fun of her. Luckily, she already knows that most jerk kids are products of jerk parents and pays them little attention.

I dont understand your simple logic here. Crocs are not meant to look good, theyre obviously meant for some more viable reason than what you sir fail to relize. You're calling my friends, family, and almost everyone else in the US dorks?? How low of a self esteem do you have? My uncle wears them all the time. He has serious back pain that stopped him from walking on the beach at sunset, hiking in the most remote and beautiful forests. But these 'dorky' shoes you have written 'news' about, gave him a chance. I may only be twelve, but I beleive I have a better sense of courtesy to others, and just plain IQ points.

Wow, for all you people who are taking this article waaaay to seriously, your dumb Croc shoes obviously aren't relieving enough stress! The article was great and I agree. The only people who have an excuse to wear these aesthetically challenged shoes are gardeners, rehab folks and anyone in the medical profession while in a medical building...NO ONE ELSE!! ;-) Oh and God doesn't like ugly...

I agree entirely with this article. I work in a coffee shop in a small tourist town that also caters to hunters during the winter. When you see a hunter in camo and jeans come in with bright purple crocs, it's like what in the hell are you thinking! Now I dont't think they should entirely go away. I do think that they are great for around the house, gardening, etc. But the people who wear the bright colors and flaunt it like they are the coolest thing on the planet need a wake up call. That is just what this article does.

i happen to love them i just had a spine fusion and had to wear them so i wont slip and fall and have to go through the surgery again its very painful anyways i happen to love them i will never stop wearing them they are the best shoes i ever had and will always wear them ...cheryl from vegas

I thought this was hilarious! Poor guy, I really feel for him, he will probably hate me when I say that I have bought 2 pairs for my toddler the past, and if they're around next summer, I'll buy a 3rd...and when my 6 month old gets big enough, she's got some hand-me-downs! They are wonderful for little ones to quickly put on and rush outside when daddy gets home, playing in the sandbox and the pool, one less pair of shoes for me! Personally, I loves Earth Shoes, Dr. Scholls, and Birkenstocks! Guess I'm a dork, but I'm a comfortable one! And lets not forget, we need to be tolerant of those that don't share our views or our fashion, and not call names cause you might hurt my self-esteem.

Lighten up people, that was one of the funniest Croc rants I have heard! I really thought I was the only one hating those things, and the excuse people give us that they wear them in the garden, to the spa, so wear them there! Go Steve!

And yet, I didn't see one valid reason for why you truly disliked them! Was it because of the color? Was it because of the holes? Was it because so many people have them? Was it because they are fad? Well, here is something to think about...Bell bottoms were a fad and now they're back, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Care Bears were a fad and now they're back, Spandex was a fad and now they're back...Do you honestly believe that if the Crocs fad were to die today that it wouldn't return tomorrow, in 5 years, in 10 years!!?? I hope that they haunt you to you and your son's graves...
