I agree with the dad, people who wear those look quite strange...and dorky. I mean, it might be okay for little kids to wear them to the beach or something, maybe, but any person over five years of age should NOT be aloud to wear them, they are a fashion DON'T

Leave crocs alone. They were made to alleviate pain for those at work who are on their feet for a long time. They provide support. They allow our feet to breathe. I wear them at work because I work fifteen hours a day M-F. Sure, and they allow me to function without any pain. Sure I wear my nice heels before leaving the place.
Sure the guys at work looked at me funny the first time they saw me wearing them, but since they understand that I don't give a *** about what they think, they are used to them now.
"So I'm begging you, America. Just stop. When you wake up tomorrow and look at your options, choose flip-flops. Go barefoot. Wear boots. Anything but Crocs" You want nurses to wear flip flops at work? They wear crocks constantly. I am sure if there were other things aside crocks that helped, people would have would have chosen them to wear.
It's amazing how americans worry about health, fashion, and age. But their face look older when they hit 20. They're fat as hell. And they still can't put decent outfit together.
The deal is to stop making a big deal about this stuff. Just live people and make smart choices.

Very funny! i do not own a pair of crocs. I get a pair every year for Christmas and I exchange them for something useful. I love the "family of dorks" part. So true. I bet you a million bucks that if one family member has crocs... he or she will make sure the rest of the clan have them too. My sister, husband, and all 3 kids have crocs. It's hilarious when they come over. A row of crocs from biggest to smallest all along the door way! But apparently they are very comfortable and don't smell... yippie.

How sad, with all the horror in the world, that you would choose to spend your talent on such a subject. For those of us who care more about the lack of leg and back pain at the end of the day than what our feet look like to someone who has nothing better to do than rant about it, they are a life saver. I suffer from fibro myalgia and am a salon owner. I am on my feet all day. I couldn't do it without my Crocs.

I say who really cares. I consider myself to be fashionable and I have no qualms with Crocs. Let's get past this shallow fashion nonsense and talk about something that actually matters. We'll all return to the dust someday and then what we wore on our feet wont mean a thing.

I am by nature a pragmatist. To me shoes shoes should fit well and be tied or other wise attached snuggly to the foot for proper support. I am also a teacher and partent sport s volunteer. Personally, I do not feel that Crocs are professional and do not match my clothing choices. I have seen many children trip and fall when their shoes come off during activity or climbing stairs. I j have told students and sports participants to tighten and tie their shoes. It is amazing how stuborn they are. A basketball player would rather look cool wearing skateboard shoes tied like skateboard shoes and slide all over the court, miss passes and shots, and bit the floor very hard rather than choosing the correct foot wear and tieing them.

Secondly, As a citizen of the United States I am baffeled why educated lawyers and judges hear and award such high damages for people's own ignorance, lack of proper caution or aceptane that accidents to in fact exist.! In our sue happy society more and more of our freedoms are restricted. My husband and I own a piece of recreational property in a remote area. There is a wonderful mountain resivouir located on state land. Saddly, nobody can fish or swim there because a small strip of private land must be crossed to access the state land. This land owner also owns the water rights, so he is aftraid if someone were injured while fishing or swimming, he would be liable in a court of law. What good is public land if the public who owns it can not access or use it? Yes, Mc Donalds serves hot coffee. If you drink it in the car, you might get burnt, and you are responsible for your own actions, not corperate America who is trying to provide jobs, make a profit and shift the trade deficit. If I or my child wears loose fitting Crocks and am not paying close attention, they might get caught on almost anything, not just esculators. Perhaps a more general warning should be used since Americans are not smart enough to choose the proper foot wear for the many types of activities we participate in.

First, I have to say that Crocs and all versions of off brand are perhaps the most unattractive footwear available. That being said, I admit to owning three pairs - but not in any of the obnoxious colors. I have 2 pairs of white and 1 pair tran. I wear them when my feet are fatigued at the end of the week - I work in a hospital and am subject to 9 hours of continuous standing/walking. They really help. I guess I have to say I don't care much if people don't like my shoes. I hate when skirts are too short and shirts are too tight, but no one's writing an article about how to flatter your body type here, are they?

Steve Tuttle, YOU are the dork. I would not wear these shoes, but I would not be so petty to tell others not to do so... and encourage my child to pick people out... then write an article about it. Was this your work for the week? Good Job! As I was reading this I am thinking that this is why I do not care for Newsweek anymore. They promote Obama and make naive and self-promoting observations about society and politics...Then I see the last three words in this article. Wow. Corporations and advertisers are setting their sights on promoting their products to a liberal mindset as our society becomes ever increasingly enlightened, as they need to now market their products into this new enlightened society. Advertisers are turning their sights to existing media that has a wide democratic / liberal readership. Because of this new interest by advertisers, it's in Newsweek's interest to increase it's ad revenue by obtaining a reader base that is moronic. As we know, the demographic advertisers are looking for are those who are the most easily influenced. Result...this article. There is a reason Rupert Murdoch's family members have contributed to the Obama campaign. Political parties change throughout history and I am watching my Democratic Party change into something that resembles Republicans. (Regan Democrats?) Is telling people not to wear these shoes like telling people not to eat Popeye's Chicken? "Y'all eat that Popeyes Chicken? Y'all shouldn't be doin' that"... Obama speaking to the residents of Beaumont, Texas. (please save us Hillary!)

After spending some time in the hospital where all the nurses wear Crocs, an attest to the fact that they are very comfortable, I bought a pair, because I suffer from psoriisis on bottom of my feet. . However, I dont wear them out, except to the corner store. Just in the garden or around the house. Don't take away our Crocs. they have a purpose.

I have to say that Crocs and any off brand versions of them are perhaps the most unattractive foot attire available. That being said, I admit to owning three pairs. For myself, who works in a hospital, they are a great option when your feet are put up against 9 hours of continuous standing/walking. I would not purchase a pair of neon colored ones - I have 2 pairs of white and 1 pair of tan - because I do find those a bit over the top. But they are comfortable, and really they don't hold odor, and until I have the money to purchase a pair of Spyra or Z-Coil I'll have to be content with my swiss cheese foams ...

Crocs are HIDEOUS creations!!!! Second only to Birkenstock's. Both are just unacceptable!!

I have never liked Crocs. But after reading this article and going to the Crocs site, I think I might get me a pair. There are lots worse fashions: Front-slit skirts, nipple sweaters, "layers" where the undershirt is supposed to show when the top shirt is way too low-cut or belly-waisted -- but Crocs? It's okay if someone is comfortable and unrevealing.

This article was wonderful. I thought I was going to pass out laughing. And I couldn't agree more...Crocs have got to be one of the ugliest things ever invented. I'm a nurse and even I wouldn't wear those super ugly deflated beach balls on my feet...no matter how comfortable they might be. And the heels...HELLO...Are you kidding me? I would ask who in their right mind would wear that, but I'm sure some goofball will. I'm with you. If we get rid of all the Crocs the world will be a better place. Maybe the government should fund a study on how to properly destroy Crocs. I for one wouldn't mind my tax money going towards that.

  • Posted By: EP1234 @ 08/05/2008 6:49:06 PM

lemme put it this way: IT'S OUR CHOICE! not yours. i don't wear what anyone else tells me to and i'm sure you don't either.i'm going to go out any buy every kind and pair of crocs in my size just to help them a little because the world has some of the dumbest people in it,i could care less what other people wear. as long as they take care of themselves too. and to all the people with this fool -- SHAME ON YOU. you hurt other people by saying this rude stuff. and you wonder why suicide rates are so high nowadays. jesus christ people...time to GET A LIFE. and mno parent would ever teach their child anything rude like that!
