haha AWESOME!!! this article was so funny, good job! but even funnier then the article is the comments of people with their panties all in a bunch cuz your one of the scary croc wearers....they are fugly, they make your feet smell, and they make others want to throw rocks at you for wearing such abominations in pubic. And we really dont care if they make your back feel better becuase i will be the first to say it the old lady orthapedic shoes even look better. And somewhere down this line someone said that high school kids dont even make fun of what shoes others wear... where in the heck did you go to school????

ARE WE ALL MISSING THE POINT? IT IS NOT THE CROCS ISSUE WE SHOULD BE DISCUSSING, it is the very sad image of a father teaching his son to sit and make fun of someone else, for whatever reason. just because something is hideous, theres no excuse for a father encouraging his son that this kind of behavior is acceptable.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you - Crocs are ugly and ridiculous looking shoes. I share your contempt for them and totally agree that they are an assault on the eyeballs. Why people wear them? I have no idea.

This is one truly hilarious piece of writing! Some of you people take yourselves a little too seriously.

I too agree about these crocs, how dare they be allowed out what a fashion fiasco. Who cares that they are comfortable, that they take stress off the lower back & kness improving posture & easing pain. Who cares that they are the most sensible option for parents of young children (easy to slip on/off & easy to clean). This has to stop and this author is right just like the Germans & the Brown shirts. How dare anyone step out of line and not look exactly like everyone on this post along with this editor and this author. As for his offspring who labeled crocs wearers as dorks didn't the same thing happen to Jews, Pols & Gypsies when people tried to rid society out of these people?
I guess from a truly liberal magazine like Newsweek the only thing liberal is their opinion on everyone else

get over it people. There just shoes, just like burning bras was cool in the 60's (better be glad we dodged that bullet) Yeah a whole generation of women with *** saging down to there stomach, yeah that would be real sexy. Then there was bell bottoms and afros in the 70's Big hair bands and bad music in the 80"s . Rap and parachute pants in the 90's. NO one holds a gun to your head and makes you wear them. Find something better to do with your time. Theres a whole world of things to worry about . Like fuel and the economy. A cure for cancer, the fight aginst drugs and drunk driving. If you don't like the dumb things don't wear them.Quit worrying about what someone else is wearing.. Im sure there is someone that can find soething dorky and imperfect about your perfect little lives. I guess we all should wear uniforms like they do in private schools or some public schools. That way we all look the same cause heaven forbid that someone stands out or likes to wear something different. In short , quit cluttering the internet with usless junk get off your sorry butts and go find something constructive to do. Try to make a difference in the world not make it any worse than it already is.

It's not that I'm a raging Crocs fan, but, to me, all this article is about is some guy voicing his opinion about Crocs and expecting everyone to follow along. I mean, every single person has something they don't like, but we are not all going to write an article about it and post it for all the public to see as we bash someone's product and insult something that some people actually really love....Pathetic. I actually feel as if I lost a few IQ points after reading this article.

I think anyone who sits around obsessing and counting how many people wear CROCS, are dorks themselves. They should have other better, more important things to do. If it bothers you so bad what someone is wearing, than don't look. I haven't always liked certain trends myself, but it doesn't bother me if someone else is wearing the. People have a right to express themselves or follow the trends, without some idiot making a big deal about it. Get over it and please get a life.

The greatest thing about the anonymity of the internet is the fact that it gives losers the opportunity to ironically give their opinion on how the author's opinion sucks and should be kept to themselves.
Quoted, ashley99999 - "Ok........ what's up with people telling people what to wear? Maybe I don't like your shoes, but do I tell the world? NO. So just STOP telling people what to wear!" --How about you stop telling people what to do? And from the same poster -- "Has it turned in to "It's the shoes that count"? Wow what has this world become?" --...are you really that naive?
Then quoted, smilingcesus -- "i think the author should be trying to get laid himself as he so bluntly put it!" --Actually, the author didn't say it, he quoted someone else as saying it. You get an 'A' for effort, but sadly, an 'F' for ability.
The fact that I happen to agree with the author, crocs truly are offensive to look at, it does not change my opinion on you trolls. He has every right to state his opinion, just as you have every right to comment on his opinion. The flaming just shows how shallow and meaningless your lives are.

im apalled reading this article i cant believe someone would sit there writing an article about bullshit!!! They are shoes get over it, who care if they arent the prettiest things in the world if you dont like them oh well your not going to stop people from wearing them!! And if you like them good for you!!! instead of wasting paper about bullshit why dont you write an article about REAL issues that need REAL attention!!!!!!!!!!

Who cares what they look like? I had terrible problems with my feet before my husband bought me my first pair of Crocs. Now I wear them every day, and I no longer have to worry about heel problems. If I can pay $35 to keep myself out of the podiatrist's office, I'll gladly look like a "dork."

  • Posted By: Kell @ 08/05/2008 5:52:59 PM

Steve Tuttle, YOU are the dork. I would not wear these shoes, but I would not be so petty to tell others not to do so... and encourage my child to pick people out... then write an article about it. Was this your work for the week? Good Job! As I was reading this I am thinking that this is why I do not care for Newsweek anymore. They promote Obama and make naive and self-promoting observations about society and politics...Then I see the last three words in this article. Wow. Corporations and advertisers are setting their sights on promoting their products to a liberal mindset as our society becomes ever increasingly enlightened, as they need to now market their products into this new enlightened society. Advertisers are turning their sights to existing media that has a wide democratic / liberal readership. Because of this new interest by advertisers, it's in Newsweek's interest to increase it's ad revenue by obtaining a reader base that is moronic. As we know, the demographic advertisers are looking for are those who are the most easily influenced. Result...this article. There is a reason Rupert Murdoch's family members have contributed to the Obama campaign. Political parties change throughout history and I am watching my Democratic Party change into something that resembles Republicans. (Regan Democrats?) Is telling people not to wear these shoes like telling people not to eat Popeye's Chicken? "Y'all eat that Popeyes Chicken? Y'all shouldn't be doin' that"... Obama speaking to the residents of Beaumont, Texas. (please save us Hillary!)
