I heard a lady yacking about them the other day - complaining of all the plastic and how ugly they are. The ho was wearing sneakers...made with...ah...mostly plastic. And sorry, she had on cut off shorts with doughy, fat, pasty legs sticking out of them...much worse to see than a pair of crocks!!!!

But, I agree with this, there should be a Crock recycling program or the makers should use recycled plastic, would be a great way to reuse the stuff. This should be the case with all shoes that contain plastic.

As a teacher I beg parents of children under the age of 10 to STOP SENDING YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL IN THESE SHOES!! They are dangerous: they don't stay on their feet while they're running and playing, the younger ones (3 and under) take them off constantly and it's really annoying to spend an entire day putting childrens shoes back on when I should be playing with them and teaching them about things.

I don't own even ONE pair of Crocs. Never had the urge. So there are some sane people out there. You just have to look for us. We are the ones NOT wearing Crocs!!!

    Amen to that...and I could not agree more! Americans are so gullible to marketing gimmicks...and for a few dollars less! Yeek....pleeeeeeezzz, make them go away. Oh Yes, We Can!!! :-}

Well, I love my crocks. I even get upset because the kids crocks are so much cuter than the adults-more colors and decorations to push in the holes!!! Do I need help? Maybe, but until I get it, I have my eye on some creamcycle colored crocks with jewels on them!!!!

I get laid while I wear my crocs!

Be careful what you wish for Mr. Tuttle. I remember the Mullet, elephant pants, fringe, extra wide shoulder pads, leggings, safety pinned pants, and Zubas. Crocs too shall pass, but what will take its place?

I agree! They are the ugliest, stupidest shoes that I have ever seen! They only people that should wear them (if at all) are nurses because they are on their feet 24/7. No exceptions.

Is this really worth writing about? It is a sad day when all you can think to write about is a shoe.

  • Posted By: lachouffe @ 08/05/2008 3:59:12 PM

I might go and buy a pair of Crocs, just because of the HATERS out there (like the author of this story) that can't stand to see them.

I loved this article. I think only the lighthearted can enjoy the sarcastic and cynical tone. I completely agree with the author???s opinion and I found humor in every paragraph. Thanks for the must needed comical relief in my very stressful day.

I totally agree. Miley Cyrus is another disguisting fad America's portion seems to be obsessed with.. hmmm lets begin to make a list.

Yes, fads drive me crazy sometimes. Madonna, . . . Britney Spears . . . Hannah Montana . . .Sponge Bob Square Pants . . . to name a few that have made me cringe . . . I also do not like cell phones or Ipods . . LOL I have and mp3 player, but it is a Creative . . . not an ipod, my kids would disown me if I got an ipod - um, I would disown me! To each his own opinion, I bet most of you like ipods! and the proof is in the sales! But just because thousands like them does not mean I have to like them and I can make fun of them if I want to cause this is a free country still - hmmm . . . geting off on a tangent . . . I hope it stays that way . . . . a certain presidential candidate would like to "change" America into a "democracy". Excuse me, I prefer the "republic" that we are . . . ok. so I got up on my "soap box" for that one. LOL But, seriously - look up the meaning of "democracy" and "republic" if you don't already know.

I am amased of myself that was cappable of reading through this lines; I am just going to give better use to my time.

I don't own crocs, but this article was so stupid I want to buy a pair just to spite the terrible writer. And who cares about fashion if comfort is at stake. If these help with knee, hip and back problems as I've been told, then why would you give up health because it's not "fashionable." Anyone who chooses "cute" shoes over painfree joints is an idiot.

  • Posted By: Flamazon @ 08/05/2008 3:57:08 PM

I think you just wasted my time. In this article you come across as nothing but an idiot snob who is teaching his kid to make fun of other people. You do nothing but trash a company and have nothing real to say. Also, there is no convincing reason you give for not wearing Crocs except for being ugly (to you). Are you serious? How did you get this thing published? You should be fired.

Loved the part about not getting laid. How true the truth is.....

  • Posted By: MalvagioOscurita @ 08/05/2008 3:56:12 PM

I don't understand what the big deal is to you. Why do you care what other people wear and what they don't? Why does everyone have to stop wearing crocs just because you and a few other people don't like the way they look. And the reason they are still around is because yes they are really comfortable and oh wow... people actually buy them! Huh.. That's just strange isn't it? This was a pretty riddiculous article. Since when did Newsweek post the opinions of rednecks?

  • Posted By: Rebarr @ 08/05/2008 3:54:59 PM

I am a proud owner of a few pairs of Crocs. They are the best thing to wear out in the garden - you just spray the dirt and mud off, let them dry in the sun and they are ready to wear the next day - and my feet don't hurt from walking on the uneven ground! I will say I have a pair or two of "generic" ones that hurt my feet after I wear them for long periods of time. Ugly or not, they are more comfortable than sandals and there are some styles that aren't as ugly as the original ones - I have a pair of "Mary Jane's" in orange because they were on clearance - now why would orange shoes be on clearance???!

Ever heard of the song "Fake Plastic Trees" or "Wasteland"? If you only judge someone based on their appearance, how hollow can you be? No offense, there's a lot more to an employee than what they wear. Think about the time spent to outwear someone else--with more fancy, more expensive garments. This time could easily be spent focusing on developing your skills or making society a better world. But there are people who will idly pass their time criticising, and not looking indwardly...
