A couple points and I will forget I wasted my time reading this article.
    1. I can't believe you would allow your son to label people for the type of shoe they are wearing...GREAT parenting *golf clap*
    2. The only reason I can find that Croc warehouses have an over abundance of shoes is because of the MANY off label brands (Walmart, Target & Payless offer a similar item for a fraction of the price).
    3. Though I agree that they are a fashion catastrophe, they are very comfortable. For people in the medical industry they are a god sent...there has yet been a shoe made other than crocs that remain comfortable for 10+hours.
Before you start going off on how a SHOE needs to be thrown out because YOU and a handful of others think they are ugly how bout applying for QUEER EYE FOR THE STRAIGHT GUY and getting rid of the PLEATED DOCKERS.

I'm genuinely curious as to what kind of shoes you do like?

  • Posted By: tomitins @ 08/05/2008 2:48:49 PM

Stand up America. Make no excuses for wearing comfortible shoes! We all know the people who criticize them are just uncomfortable in their own shoes ( and skin). It brings their emotions to the surface. I feel so benevolent knowing I improve the quality of life of some miserable person i don't even know, just by walking down the street,, making you feel falsley superior and giving you a lift for the day. No need to thank me. It was my pleasure. God Bless America!

What will you do with your time if you can no longer make fun of people who wear Crocs. Sounds like you could benefit from them giving you something to do since you seem to have nothing better to do then to bash people who wear them. Amusing article, but really, does it bother you that much???

Both of my kids have crocs (4 yo boy - bright green thank you very much & 1 1/2 yo girl - pink) and they love them! They are bright and sunny, comfy, easy for them to put on and run out the door. Fashionable...not so much, but they don't care and neither do I. Whatever works! :^) Live and let live.

so I think the author of this article was just a loser in school and had no friends so now he sits around and tries to find things to make fun of people for or "dorks" as he calls croc wearers. he needs to get a life,, they are shoes! big deal! who cares what kind of shoes people wear!

    • Posted By: vnewtnew @ 08/05/2008 2:47:19 PM

If so, then I want to be a has been high school loser, too. He's clever, witty, ironic AND brilliant. Yep, I'll be a loser anyday! (I just don't have enough talent, LOL)

Muahahaaaa! HI-larious. "Crocs ploppers". Muahahaa! I can't stop giggling. And to my vegan friends, there are PLENTY of bitchin' cruelty free flip flops out there. I am no fashionista, but dammit if these shoes aren't the fugliest thing around! Go flops! Adios crocs(plops)! Hahahaaaaaaaa!

  • Posted By: bibbapope @ 08/05/2008 2:46:41 PM

I see how they are popular with children in a faddish sort of way, but I totally agree that adults should keep them in the garden. Through all the ranting, you never once gave any alternatives as to shoes you deem acceptable and attractive. Please follow-up your rant with some solutions. Thanks!

The price of real 'crocs' are ridiculous and anyone who spends that kind of money on clown shoes is whacked in the head, but most crocs people wear are the knock off brands since they are about ten times cheapert
Do people have no pride in how they look? It amazes me that they dont care what they throw on to go out in public looking like. Same goes for these teenty tiny tops, crotch hugging shorts, bagged out jeans that show the underwear line, thongs and whatever other trash people decide to throw on in order to be 'different'...all the while being EXACTLY the same as the next guy who is wearing the same crocs. Its doesnt take much to look decent and crocs are not the way to go about doing that, but hey, if people want to go out looking lazy in a five second outfit and like they cant afford decent shoes which were meant for garden work or boating, then more power to them.

I have tears from laughing so hard. And here I thought I was the only one left who just could not break down and wear those things. Someone gave me a pair and I did slip them on. I tried desperately to accept them, but just could not bring myself to wear them in the house even - forget going out it public with them.

I have nothing against those who wear them; live and let live. But please don't get offended as I stare and your feet and wonder why. The one that make me wonder most are the little boys in the bright green crocs, how can a parent do that to a child? lol

Please don't procreate again. In fact, just to be safe, you should probably never have sex again. Just a suggestion.

LMAO!!! Kudos for finally saying what we ALL were thinking. They may be comfy but man are they ugly! And people who are freaking out you teaching your son to be "judgemental" really need to get a sense of humor. You are a father who is spending some time with his son. TWO THUMBS UP!!!

  • Posted By: The Real Slim K @ 08/05/2008 2:43:38 PM

hmmm....fascism disguised as humor. Not very impressive. Now, if he had said 'Doc Martins' I could see the humor. Those are some REALLY silly shoes!

In my hometown in Italy (not some other place, I said *Italy* and we are talking about *shoes*) they are sold at the most exclusive fashion boutique. That said, I love Crocs. But it's a really interesting phenomenon indeed: we invent pizza and you transofrm it into this disgusting blob of chicken, pineapple, pepperoni and God only knows what else. You invent ugly rubbery shoes and we take it ti it in the top tier fashion stores...

  • Posted By: lorelie @ 08/05/2008 2:43:25 PM

Oh my, are Croc's really worth all this heat and anger. Is it worth, truly, getting all het up over a pair of shoes that, will eventually (and it will) go away. I personally don't like them and personally wouldn't wear them, but if someone else wants to....hey, so be it. Pick your battles. Maybe you should be more concerned with world peace, world hunger, animal rights and global warming....not to mention the disgusting, juvenile mud slinging presidential race going on. Get over it!

Great Article! I laughed so hard....I still hated Crocs. They are the most ridiculous shoes I ever saw- won't be caught dead in them. There are a lot of other shoes that are just, if not more comfortable...Clown shoes for sure, maybe people who buy them have a secret desire to be a clown! Who knows!

CAUTION PARENTS!!!!! If your children are wearing this type of soft shoes on escalators be very aware at the end that they step off and don't let their feet slide off (or under!) as there have been many horror stories in the news and I have witnessed it myself, very scary....Pick them up if possible just before the end and watch yourself also that you do not get near the end where the escaloter stairs flatten and get pulled under. DANGEROUS!!!!

This article made my day a little brighter. For the absolute hilarity of something so inane. Oh, and follow the links, too. I was laughing out loud so much so that my little nieces came running to see what it was about and I had to close my laptop. Pure joy is this article! More please!

I think you are all riled up over nothing. :)

Does it really matter if a person's shoes aren't the height of fashion or if their shoes will get them laid? If they're comfortable and happy with them why does it matter? I don't think most people walking through a park or heading out for errands care about what they look like, which I think is a good thing. They are indeed a fad but there are tons of fads that are much worse for American culture than a pair of shoes. Besides the fact that they're easy to slip on, cheaper than a pair of Nikes or New Balance they're also made with no animal products and I think that's a good thing for this planet and a reason some people wear them, including myself.
