Does it really matter how ugly a persons shoes are if they feel they're comfortable and like wearing them? Most people running errands or taking their kids for a walk in the park don't care about fashion and personally I think that's a good thing. Besides the fact that they are comfortable, cheaper than a pair of Nikes or New Balance and easy to slip on they're made with no animal products which is I think a reason a lot of folks wear them, myself included.

Awesome article! I have hated Crocs since they came out, mainly because I work with teens and pre-teens who INSTANTLY became obsessed with them. It got to the point that these kids were actually negotiating their allowance / reward systems based on how fast and how many pairs they could earn. Now, these are kids with behavior problems, mental health disorders, and developmental disorders, most of whom would rather spit on you than do what you say..... something that can completely turn them around like that, make them suddenly into compliant little robots, can not, POSSIBLY be good for society! Thanks for finally pointing out Crocs for what they are, another ridiculous fashion item that has gained overwhelming fame just because the media (and several influential people) have declared them the "must have" fashion accessory!

What gets me is people saying not to teach your son to judge people! How stupid can you get? If you don't know how to judge people you get screwed over, sure in a perfect world being judgemental would be wrong but as it's not judge away! better to learn judgement on shoe choice than say skin color or nationality!

I really don't care who likes them and who doesn't. I love them, and they are recommended by the arthritis foundation. At my age I go for comfort, if you don't like they way the look, look the other way or better yet, just don't look. I can shop till I drop wearing my crocs and if I know they will stop manufactoring them, then I will stock enough to last my life time!!!!!!!!!

what the hell is up with these things? my whole family, except for me, loves crocs. my brother hand washed his, and they shrank. my mom wears them to the beach with me, and she complains about sand getting through the wholes. my dad wears them with ugly long socks. i told him he'd better be glad he's not looking for a chick. he even has a SOCK TANLINE ON HIS FEET. i tried to burn my mom's crocs. she flipped and bought more. i hate these things!!!

What is it to you what I or anyone else wears...on my feet or otherwise? I think you should put that effort into reprogramming your son to not judge people based on what they are wearing! It is alarming that someone would do that and even more alarming that they feel it is OK and almost proud of it!?! I hope you got paid for the article, you can use the money to get some help if you seriously think that it is acceptable for children to behave that way.

haha. this article made me laugh. Hey, you got a point here! I agree with the whole article... but you can't stop America from wearing whatever they want. Everyone's taste is different... and I think we should all live in a happy place :) Nice article! =]

oh. my. gosh. i have told soooo many people to quit wearing them, and then my own father walked out to a store, dragging me behind him, then bought crocs for my mother, my brother, and himself. and i had to watch the madness, and then live with him modeling them. my mother adores them, saying 'they're so comfortable'. i hate them. i made an attempt to burn them, but my mom caught me then went out and bought MORE. they say they're washable, so my brother washed them, and they shrank. i loved it when i got to rub it in his face and say, 'i told you so!' when my mom and i go to the beach to take a walk, she wears those damn crocs and always gets sand in them. i get to replay my favorite saying for her. I TOLD YOU SO!!! and then, my dad takes it upon himself to add 'style' to them by wearing them with LONG SOCKS. it's a crime! now, me and my brother always tell off my parents every time we get the chance. i hate crocs. ..l..!!!!

Wow. Okay, first of all, I didn't even know what the hell these things were; but upon viewing them, I agree that they look like a (VERY expensive) gardening shoe.
Secondly, for those who think the writer wasted his time writing this article, and say that people can wear what they want...well, he can say and write what he wants, and none of you (I'm assuming) had a gun to your head forcing you to waste your time reading his opinion.
And for those that made reference to the Pabst Blue Ribbon, Hey There Delilah on Ebay joke.;obviously you have ADHD or a lack of comprehension, because Mr. Tuttle clearly links to The Best Page in The Universe where the joke originated. And if any of you that feel oh-so affronted by this "Croc Hater" really want to get your Crocs in a bunch you should definitely pay Maddox a visit. Muahahaha.

i just have to say crocs are ugly, but still i like them and wear them. what does someone who has 25 yr old t-shirts with pit stains have any right judging anybody else on fashion. honestly everybody is entitled to there own opinion. some people have occupations where they have to stand up all day, and these shoes are comfortable. not everyone can go into work wearing dress shoes or high-heels. and i just cant understand y someone would want to teach they're son how to be so superficial, whats the point so they can start making fun of other children. ur an idiot

  • Posted By: uknowme @ 08/05/2008 2:24:19 PM

What business is it of yours what I or anyone else puts on my feel? I think you should put that effort into teaching your son positive attitudes towards others and their freedom of choice rather than how to pass judgment on them based on what they are wearing!

Please Parents be very careful with your children on escalators if they are wearing this type of soft shoe... that it does not get caught and pulled under at the very end. Children need to take a step off the escalator and not try to let their feet just slide off. Caution! Very Dangerous...many horror stories have been in the news.

Funny article! I totally agree that clog-style Crocs are a crock of bad fashion sense. However, I was recently shocked to discover that Crocs has come out with new designs that are cute and comfortable. I bought a couple pairs of their ballerina flats, and I get many compliments on them--most of them from people who are also shocked to discover they are Crocs.

Does the author of this story have nothing else to write about?

I think they are a CROC because what do you do when they break? they are not able to be recycle because of the material they are made of.. so now what? we fill our landfills with tires and rubber made tubs now we are adding crappy over priced rubber shoes to the landfills as well

This IS America..home of free speech. So don't knock the man for expressing an opinion (which eveyrone posting a comment on here is) Give the man props for actually spending time with his son. Does anyone feel hypocritical...judging and CRITICIZING this man on his hatred for Crocs? I personally wear heels everyday and they kill my feet so I am one to appreciate shoes of comfort. But, in turn, I also think if they can make comfortable shoes on the inside, they can make them stylish on the outside. I agree with Mr. Tuttle on this one (although he can express hisself much more creatively than I). And I don't know about anyone else...but in my opinion the whole idea of STYLE is not to conform but to have some originality for crying out loud. I would not wear them...A-because more people wear these than they do jeans and B-they hold no style value whatsoever. So enjoy being a human being - embrace your feelings and DO YOU. -tc-

Ok-I agree crocs look dorky on adults BUT they are great for kids. I've tried sandals with velcro with my 3 year old and as soon as they get wet they stink. The crocs can be worn in any type of weather and they don't stink and they wash up great. Also for a 3 year old that doesn't know how to tie his/her shoe it saves us parents from struggling with them when we are trying to get out the door.
