Hey listen, yeah crocs are ugly. I've gone my whole life trying to impress the world by being cool. I just turned thirty so I'm allowed to stretch it a little now, I'm allowed to sacrifice SOME style for comfort and practicality. I have looked at old people with fanny packs, and white socks with black shoes, or sandals for three decades -LEAVE ME ALONE. Besides, the cacky or gray crocs aren't so bad, and the boat crocs with the leather tops and laces are kinda cute. And Hello??... as far as comfort is concerned, crocs rock the socks!

I love the people who are getting huffy over this article. "THIS IS AMERICA! I HAVE A RIGHT TO EXPRESS MYSELF!" Yes, kiddies, you do have the right to express yourself. You have the right to express yourself as a fashion deprived, foot-shuffling moron. I sure as hell have the right to ridicule you for it. However, you people missed the point. The shoes are ugly. The decision to choose something ugly for its comfort rather than take the time to find something that is not only comfortable but flattering is a very large indicator of laziness. I have little faith in humanity as a whole, so I don't see this eye-sore of a problem going away. For the record: I Google-imaged those heeled Crocs. Are you kidding?

Who cares if they look bad! Why do so many people judge someone by what kind of shoes they wear? That is one thing that is wrong in this world today. Im sure all of us wear stuff that we like and others dont, that is what makes us individuals. If we stopped judging by what someone was wearing and focusing on who the person is it would make things a whole lot easier. You are setting a bad example for your son to go out and judge people. As someone in high school i notice these actions being done everyday. Who cares!! I own a pair of crocs and i wear them to mow the lawn, or if im fishing. They are a shoe you dont have to worry about getting dirty. Get off your high horse and teach your kid to not judge people!

well now. . . aren't you just a hater! why do you have to criticize other people and what they wear? you remind me of an ex-girlfriend i used to have. she criticized everything i did just to make her feel better about herself. Sounds like your the one with the problem, and are insecure with your own fashion sense. what better way to cover up your own insecurites by making fun of what someone else is wearing. . . by the way have you tired them, i'm sure you said so in your little article but i got bored with it and found my self paying more attention to the music i was listening to. (corona and lime by shwayze). See i wear my crocs daily due to the fact of the lifestyle that i live. I am partner in a business and its casual dress, in the summer time i have meetings with clients on my boat in the marina and on occasion we dock at the bar or on a sand bar. the sand on a sandbar is hot, especially in the middle of the afternoon so you want to have something to protect your feet from the hot sand. when the rest of your body gets hott you go in the water you can walk right in cool off and go right back to playin horseshoes or your game of choice with out loosing your shoes and getting them full of sand! honestly ill never wear sandals again. . . I live for comfort and thats exactly why I wear crocs, but thats my lifestyle which is becoming quite successful due to the fact people judge me by the way i carry and present myself as well my business rather than what i'm wearing. maybe you should relax a bit and not be so judgemental of what other people are wearing and maybe someday youll get a real job rather than being so critical of the people you're jealous of or don't like because we wear crocs and enjoy the hell outta them

I work in an aquatics center and crocs are the best shoes for the job. There comfy and you can wear them into the water. I also used to believe that they were ridiculous but they have definatly grown on me... And after wearing them to the beach... I don't think that I would want to go without them.

Why do people let it bother them so much? What does it matter to you if people want to wear crocs. I dont like crocs either but I dont make a big deqal about people wearing them. You can wear whatever you want. Thats why this is AMERICA!!!

We could have a world like that if people would stop writing stories like this one!

    • Posted By: gina7577 @ 08/05/2008 1:58:01 PM

Um....but people have been writing important stories, and guess what you read this one and felt it was important enough to give your opinion? OMG people its just a story a guy wanted to write about, why all the hateing, not that big of a deal, geesh?????? Its a shoe!!

I agree that Crocs should be garden or pool shoes only, but I also think the college students I teach should stop wearing their pajamas (literally) to class. America has become a country of comfort, rather than style. We cannot change it, but it is certainly a bad trend!

Love it that the majority of comments are against this narrow minded author. Totally agree with the post a few minutes ago that this - of all things in our country - is the LEAST of our worries. How about we focus on more outrageous issues ??? like crime prevention, curing cancer or perhaps just simply ??? having more respect for each other. Oh wait, that last one will be a topic this author is completely ignorant on.

I find it disturbing that his editors didn???t have enough sense to (a) NOT send this personal meaningless rant to print and (b) are so desperate to fill some print space that they will actually pay him money for this juvenile article . Just goes to show you what???s important to today???s media ??? random worthless opinions.

On a personal note, how pathetically sad that this author (note I'm not saying man, because it appears he lost his "man card" long ago) bashed his own circle of friends ??? one of which he claims is "like the sister I never had". Hopefully she will wake up and realize his negative energy in her life is doing nothing for her and send him a "please don't ever call me again" note - with a big photo of her croc endowed feet on the front. :)

Crocs are fuggin' ugly. They make a person look like a duck who just waddled through the cubism period.

For all those who like 'em: stop telling me how comfy they are and just wear them all yourself. Just wait and see if you ever get near the gender of your choice ever again. And for all those bashing this author: at least he doesn't have to stoop so low as to spend crazy amount of hard-earned cash on waffle-ball shoes. He's more successful than you'll ever be--Just look at this article. His opinions are all over the internet while your's won't get past these comments.

MYOB - At what point could we all just start minding our own business? It doesn't matter what you wear, what you drive, what you do for a living. Could we start practicing some acceptance instead of judging and making fun of people?: What's wrong with you people? What are you teaching your children?

      • Posted By: latinafina @ 08/01/2008 4:11:14 PM

Funny someone named catlady doesn't want to be judged! If only she knew the image she was presenting.

            • Posted By: beangreen @ 08/05/2008 1:54:53 PM

Love this rant, but has anyone thought about what these horrid things are doing to the environment or doesn't anyone think that far into the future or care what kind of earth we're leaving for our children? I wonder how many dumps could be filled with just one season's worth of crocs. Crocs are as stupid as bottled water! I can just imagine Wall E making croc cubes and putting them next to water bottle cubes.

I know, I know. Some of you will call me a nutjob environmentalist, but that's cool. I can take it.

I'm teaching my children to have some standards. I've also seen people in the street wearng pijamas, rollers and hair nets. I'm teaching them to have a little pride in their appearence and to put at least a little effort into it before they walk out the door.

Tons of more plastic is what we need. YAY for Crocs the plastic generator!

  • Posted By: whydoessomeonealwayshavemyname @ 08/05/2008 1:54:25 PM

Um, if you have to present such a special case as the time you BROKE YOUR KNEE don???t you think you???re really having to reach. Plus, you are not even in the same debate. The writer was denigrating the Croc for its looks. You don???t seem to realize that you had to present it as medical paraphernalia, which, as everybody knows, always looks just terrible because it is not about looks. Sheesh, get on the same page why don???t ya. Oh, wait, you thought you had an opportunity to make somebody feel bad because they get a little humor out of life. Nevermind.
