Antibacterials, used on healthy bodies, serve only to eliminate natural functions of the skin and immune system. When these materials get rubbed off on the ground or thrown away, they disrupt the ecosystem. It is NOT healthy to use antibacterials and antibiotics in non-medical-emergency situations. You are harming your own and your children's immune systems and development. This is, actually, very important, as "fashion issues" go. And, by the way, these are the most atrociously ugly, idiotic "shoes" I have ever seen.

This article IS pretty funny. I don't like these Croc shoes, can't stand them. Unfortunately, I too have seen a entire store dedicated to selling these shoes in a local mall. These are the ugliest shoes i've seen and should have nothing to do with fashion. They could be decorated in shiny gems and they would still look ugly. I think they should be worn only by persons who have medical reasons for wearing them or worn indoors or strickly yard shoes. It really shouldn't be worn in place of dress shoes, come on! The only good thing I've seen come out of this fashion tragedy is one of those donate and rescue a child commercials who have taken these shoes through public donations and given them to children in other countries who have no shoes and have to walk miles to get to food and water or away from termoil and violence in their village and end up with cutup, blistered and infected feet. That is what it should be used for especially if its piled up in some warehouse somewhere and where fashion is not a big issue, staying alive and healthy is. I don't know why this has become a fashion statement unless...........some of you fell for that pet rock thing. Ooopsy!
Hey! Are these things even biodegradable? It would be interesting if millions of years in the future when our remains are found, flesh and clothes gone and all they find (humans or aliens) and remember us by are our bones and Crocs still on our feet!

I was going to buy a pair of crocks cause every one said they were comfortable. I just couldn'' get over how ugly they were. This article has saved me from this epedemic. At the very least he saved one person. I don't think this will faid though. Their selling knock offs in Avon mag's.

I don't care if your shoes are comfy or if "OMG THEY LIKE TOTALLY COME IN LIKE HOT PINK OMG" They're hideous. And those who so choose to wear such eye sores should be punched in the kidney immediately. Honestly, just throw them away... sandles or shoes would be just as comfortable. Get clogs... Jeeze anything! Your shoes are ugly and they make you look like a tard for christ sake...

While I did find the article somewhat amusing and entertaining, I have to jump to the defense of the "dorks" who wear crocs. I am a HUGE fan of the shoes, in fact I own over 30 pairs. (in all the different styles and colors). I love how people are so quick to look past the fact that they are probably one of the most comfortable shoes you might ever wear. In fact, most "croc haters" agree that they are pretty darn comfortable, but they just cant get passed the way they look. I mean seriously, if you worry so much about the fashion statement you're making with the shoes you wear, you have much bigger issues. I am in my early twenties, I have an awesome job that pays really well, I have a really nice apartment and car, and I play guitar in an up-and-coming metal band, have a lot of friends (who all wear crocs as well), a beautiful girlfriend, and generally live a pretty dork-free life. And when people comment on my shoes with that scrunched-up-nose look that says "really? you wear those?" I take that as an opportunity to properly inform another nay-sayer and usually end up converting them. They always thank me, in the end. So who's the dork now? Put away your metro-sensitive ego for two minutes, and try on a pair of crocs. Your feet will thank you.

You know...I think some of you are missing the point of this article. I think it's a bit of tongue in cheek. To not see that seems a bit funny in itself to me. I suppose even if I adored Crocs, I wouldn't buy them because they are quite expensive. I was given a pair of flip flop type Crocs by my daughter's grandmother and they are comfortable and yes....gasp....they are clown pink and green. Imagine the horror! I came upon this article solely by accident but it was amusing to say the least. An entire article about some shoe.....several responses...including mine now.....defending them or whatnot....funny. I am not a Croc lover nor am I apposed to them for I really don't care one way or the other what you put on your feet...and...I only read the first two pages of responses...but I will respond to "lazythrillseeker" just because I can see that below what I am typing now.....your response cracks me up. I mean wow!!! The article I get as humor...but labeling people as fat and lazy because of their shoes....funny stuff right there....even more so because I think you are serious. Are you? Really? Even though I own only one pair as mentioned above, I have a full-time job as the Manager of a transcripition company, I attend school with a load of 17 hours working on my 4th degree, and am a single mother (not by choice, we were left), I care for my 85 year old grandmother.....and (surprise surprise)....do not have help from anyone....and to top that off, I am genuinely nice and love people generally speaking. It's amazing my aptitude for ignorance and laziness isn't it? 30 years old too....my my, the implications that alone must present! I have numerous friends who are quite lovely and very "presentable" that own Crocs. I guess maybe if they wore them with suits and their nice dresses, I would feel differently but anything is possible you know. Who knows what inclined me to respond to this nonsense, when there are so many other issues assaulting our nation at this time....just the silliness of it all I guess. I suppose wasting this much time seemed like such fun, I simply could not resist. Anyway....my advise is....get a sense of humor....or get a life. We could all heed that advice (even me)....ya think?

Holy cow! i think maybe he's jealous cause everyone has a pair but him or something. Just so you know Croc's come in more then just bright colors. the have professional ones that come in a solid black with no holes, they also make a closed heel on that comes in either black/brown or just black so i think before you start going on about how crocs are so ugly because they are so brightly colored and big i think you should really do your research. It doesn't surprise me that there's someone out there who judges people on the shoes they wear but it does surprise me that someone could go on for so long on how much they hate crocs. Is there honestly not enough real news and actual important stuff out there that may affect our lives that you have to write a huge article making fun of people who wear croc's? Crocs are amazing and have been proven to help back and foot pain and to the person named Ecogreen, crocs aren't exactly made for running in. i'm sure they'll eventually come out with running shoes but until then stick to the tennies for your running not crocs that you know aren't a good shoe to go running in.

    who cares what others wear?
it is nobody's business, this world worries about the stupid stuff in life, everyone needs to worry about more important things!

  • Posted By: yogisbaby821 @ 08/05/2008 12:47:46 PM

Someone seriously has way to much time on his hands.. Who cares what others wear on their feet. Its a matter of comfort, from crocs to heels and sneakers to loafers. Petty articles like this belong in high school papers. Wait, even those are more mature than this one. Grow up and go play football with your kid rather than teach him to make fun of people. Teach your kid morals not how to be a bully.

Ha! Ha! Ha! I'm with you all the way! I don't care what anyone says, those things ARE the tackiest footwear EVER (they don't even deserve to be called shoes). Since when did colorful styrofoam for your feet become fashionable?

And as for rpjv333, no one is perfect, including yourself, and everyone judges another in one way or another whether you like or not. Unfortunately, it's the way of the world. Just take a look at your comment, you're being just as judgmental. So don't preach!

    oh boo hoo...

I agree. Crocs are hideous... and those that wear them should be shot on sight...
Yanno whats really comfy too... sneakers.... and comfier than that.. sandles... You're stupid shoes are ugly and make you look like a tard.

I think the people below didn't quite get the tongue in cheek overtone that I thought was there. I mean I don't think he was saying all people who wear crocs are doomed. I have to admit when I first saw them around I thought, "why are all these kids running around in garden shoes?" They still look like garden shoes to me. Because of the way kids go through shoes I could see buting them for kids. Despite my distain for the ugly shoes I have come close to buying a pair for my 3 year old. But have resisted the temptation!! I don't think it's the ugliness of the shoes that is so annoying, I think it is the american peoples ability to fall into a trend no matter how stupid, ugly or ridiculous it is. Remember Birkenstocks with socks in the 90's people? If the purpose is "comfort" why aren't you still wearing those? And why won't you still be wearing Crocs in 5 years? Because they're stupid, and when they fall out of trend you will stop wearing them, no matter how good you say they are for your feet now. If you would at leaste admit it's a trend, and you like to fit in, we could at least forgive your bad taste.

I believe that so many have given so much power and authority to the so-called fashionistas. I can not recount the number of times that I have seen celebrities wearing what is supposed to be the latest fashion which often ends up on the "worst dressed" list. Who cares what others are wearing if they are covered up. I think that if you want to keep up with fashion, great. YOU keep up with it. Stop worrying about everyone else. It is as if some people's shadows of high school insecurities and need to fit in with the "in" crowd (whoever they are) have come back and, in true fashion, they need to pick on whoever or whatever is different than they are in a need to gain a sense of being better-than another. I think it is a shame that there is an ounce of time wasted on what someone else is wearing. Especially if you are not chipping in to another's wardrobe fund

  • Posted By: bmbraun @ 08/05/2008 12:46:35 PM

He wasn't trying to change anyones mind about wearing crocks. He was just venting his anger at people who doe. I don't see how he is being selfish. It was simply a funny article about someone ranting. And as the man said, he doesn't think he is better. He said in fact that he is terrible at fashion. However, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. So you people who are cussing him out can back off. Get a sense of humor.

This is one of society's biggest problems - that people spend too much time worrying about what others wear, and worrying about what others think about what they themselves wear. I???m with those who find it sad that you encourage your child to label and criticize others based on what they wear. It???s shallow and petty.
I didn't read all the comments, but I saw at least one about being a "sheep" if you wear Crocs. That would imply that all people who wear them do so simply because they see others doing it...and yes, I'm sure that's the case for some people. For me, however, it's not, and I'm sure there are others like me. I???m not annoyed because someone criticized my shoes ??? I respect everyone???s right to say what???s on their mind, and it???s certainly not the first time I???ve read or heard a rant about ???those horrible Crocs???. What annoys me is that it???s said (as are many of the comments supporting him) in a way that insinuates that everyone is only supposed to wear things that are socially approved, and that if they don???t, there???s something wrong with them. Talk about a sheep mentality.
When I first saw them on my sister's feet, I thought they were hideous and I couldn't believe she had the guts to wear them. I didn't try them until several years later when my daughter wanted to try some on...so I did, too, and was hooked. Long story short - I don't give a rat's ass what anyone thinks of my Crocs, or anything else I choose to wear. I don't wear Crocs because I think they make me look cool or trendy or because I want to impress anyone. I wear them because they're comfortable and *I* like them. Yes, they're ugly, but so are lots of other fashion trends. Even after no one else is wearing them, if I wanted to keep on wearing them, I would. Oh, and...I have no trouble getting laid, either.
One last thing - if you???ve checked out the Crocs website lately, you know that Crocs has made other styles that aren???t quite as ugly as the clogs.

There is always resistance to every meaningful movement in society. I would like to commend this author for this great work!!! Folks, understand that if you choose to wear crocs, YOU ARE NOT BEING FASHIONABLE! Instead, you are choosing to look frumpy and style-less. This is something that Americans suffer from en masse. I am a psychiatrist/personal stylist/fashion designer. I do believe I know what I am talking about here. Acceptance is the first step to changing negative behaviors. Let's help beautify this country! All jokes aside, the author nor I mean know harm. Let's not take this too seriously, but let's also remember there is truth in every joke!!! ;)
