You may be right about the croc's thing, but you won't hug your son? What kind of B.S. is that? You can't show emotion to your son because Hank Hill wouldn't approve? You make me sick. I tell my boys I love them and that I'm proud of them. I hug and rough them up as well.

I just want to say that I love Crocs and not the 'Swiss cheese holey ones' I buy the ballerina slipper ones and wear them to work and use them to make an outfit cute...I love the way they comfort your foot. Yes if your a dirty person and never clean sure they can harbor bacteria but it's called cleanliness, I wash mine every time I wear them. I use spray deodorant, and like I said clean them thoroughly when I am done wearing them... Crocs are super comfortable and they do provide certain support that you can't get from other shoes they may look good. It's all about comfort and accessibility. I am a CROC fan if your not don't judge people who are because honestly they could be your boss someday! Respect people how you want to be respected and judging people is a childish act...your child doesn't know any better obviously since you don't but be a parent and teach your child about life would you...Don't judge people it's not your right.

People watching is certainly a fun activity -- we all do it, whether we're at an airport, grocery store, the mall, or the partk. And it can certainly be fun COUNTING the number of people wearing Crocs, just as it can be fun finding license plates from all the states on a long car trip or counting how many people wear baseball hats. What I find distasteful is that you allow your young son to call people "dorks" and you think it is funny. I work in a school where that kind of remark would not be tolerated. I hope that your son also goes to a school that would not tolerate that kind of thing. This is another example of children learning from a young age to think that they are better than others because of what someone might be wearing. I find it very sad. I hope you will reconsider the lessons you are laying down for your son to learn.

I don't really care if people wear them or not. There are so many more offensive things going on! The fact that big companies like McDonalds & PG&E are giving thousands of dollars to the homosexual movement is what makes me nauseous! I don't want to see naked people or people dressed in nothing other than porn garb, parading the streets in a Gay Pride Parade! That's something to protest!!!!!!!

I LOVE it!!!! Thank you for adding a lot of humor to an otherwise dull Tuesday. I agree they are rideculous, my Boyfriend recently bought a pair of Crocs in the NFL Colts colors and a cute little horseshoe on the back strap, puke.

What we resist persists! Nice rant too bad it wasn't about something important.

It seems to me that we have more pressing problems than whether or not a person's footwear is an eyesore. Personally, I hate flip-flops, not for their lack of aesthetic value, but that irritating noise people- especially young women- make when they don't lift their feet completely. Not to mention the fact that flip-flops are damaging to the wearer's feet. Croc's aren't harmful, just ugly. I can live with that.

I'm not as mean about them, but I agree. They're hideous, and not very safe. Google "croc escalator accidents", you'll see. Research before giving these to kids! If you truly try to look you can find less ugly comfort, that's really not a good escuse (bad feet here too). Even my kids hate them, calling them "ugly shoes", horrified that Sketchers now makes them too.

XD I understand a dislike for something. Really I do. But actually spending a portion of your career to tirade about it is too damn funny. The people who are getting all bent out of shape about this article are ridiculously wasting time the same way the person who wrote this article is. My dears, they are shoes. They might be hideous shoes, but they are simply, shoes. This makes me giggle.

I dont think you have anything better to do with your time! have you even stuck your foot inside of a croc? They are so comfy especially as a nurse that works 12 hours on her feet. I have a pair to match every pair of scrubs I wear! They work wonders on my feet! My 2 children have a pair they love them. They are great to use at the beach at water shoes or to play outside. i don't see why this bothers you so bad its not like anyone is forcing you to wear them, so let people wear what the heck they wanna wear on there feet! What you wear on your feet doesn't judge the type of person you are, I would much rather be wearing crocs that have to wear some sweaty tennis shoe or high heels! Plus they are easy just slip them on and run out the door! :)

Kudos to Steve T for stirring the pot and getting all this pro-croccer vs. anti-croccer going. Interesting arguments from both sides. I favor the pro-croccers who support the use of crocs for foot, ankle, knee, leg issues. The nature of the product fits the bill very well. As for the "i don't care what people think, they're comfortable" folk; man... you should be ashamed at your lack of pride in one's appearence. I do condone the notion of comfort, but may I suggest some more mature-looking, more functional, Keens instead?

On a similar note: ever see a FAT person wearing crocs?!?!? Holy crap it's an abomination. Makes me wanna run up and "cow tip" them. I mean... the obese are just about as ignominious as a human beings can get, but slap some crocs on their fat feet and you got a winner. Especially when they're wet or sweaty and their feet make a gross "squish" noise.

I myself do not like crocs. The thing that bothered me the most was that he was letting his son judge other people by what they wear. I will not condone my child to be like that. I am not gonna lie I own a pair, it was also those or slippers when I was pregnant and trust me the slippers were thrown out the smelled so bad. The guy is voicing his opinion as well as everyone else who is posting their comments. All the people who are writing about the people who are "offended by it" as one said maybe you should read your own words and realize they are voicing opinions as well.

hahahahaha you are such a dork. I hate crocs anyway and can't imagine me or my kids wearing them.... Crocs are so childish, eye irritating, and distracting..

I too was a croc hater. Ugly as sin and no reedeemable value. But then I realized something, they were cutting into an even more evil trend of the past decade, flip flops. People seem to think that flip flops are an ok footwear item for any occasion. Kids and teens especially but also many adults wear them to go out to eat, to movies, for walks and even worse, bike riding.
See, when I'm eating I don't always want to look at your feet, at least crocs cover that up. But the biggest thing that wins me over is the fact that unlike 99% of the flip flops out there, crocs are NOT horrible for your feet. I'm not talking about comfy, thats a given. I'm talking about arch , ankle, posture and any walking and alignment issues. True crocs, while not nike or new balance, are not nearly the foot abomination that flip flops are. Not the plastic rip offs from box stores, but true crocs.
They are just UGLY enough that a teenager might be moved to shift to real shoes before going out to
    dinner.
Put aside your fashion bias and ask a foot doctor which evil, easy footwear should I avoid? Crocs or flip flops? Unless you paid top dollar for anatomical soled flip flops, I bet I know the answer.

well, the crocs commercials are right. These folks that deem themselves the fashion police, then become obsessed with making everyone see fashion just as they see it, are just one of the many types of neurotic/pathetic control freaks that are in unfortunate abundance in our world.
I had a friend once who I dropped because of her embarassing ways of trying to "call people out" on their supposed fashion "mistakes". It never occurred to her, as appears to be so with the author of this article, that we can't all consult these fashionistas before we get dressed each day. And maybe we dont need to.

The saddest part of this is that the kid is going to grow up as a control freak as miserable as his dad because he'll never, ever be able to make EVERYone dress or be the way he thinks they should be.

I've never bought a pair of crocs, just because they look like they're for wider feet than mine happen to be. Are they ugly? not really, but then I just havent invested enough time to think about it.

The time you spent spilling over this subject could have been much more wisely spent. Do your boy a favor and please teach him that he is no better than anyone else, no matter what his tastes are. I feel much more appalled having to constantly witness bras peeking through tank tops, hips & tummies pouring out of too-tight "skinny" jeans and men with their pants belted to hang below their showcased underwear. America's cultural fashion trends have issues much greater than your stupid Crocs-hating obsession... as I saw posted, they serve a medical purpose to several and I think they look adorable on children. Cleaning my 2-yr old child's muddy pair after he's been playing in the backyard is a breeze. But I guess you would rather he be indoors learning to be a couch potato. Get over yourself and please keep your child's attitude in check.
