The murder of any 14 year old is unjustifiable. But similar tragic events have happened since time immemorial. Schools share some blame for lack of educational programs directed at the issue. But programs advocated by the GBLT deny natural realities and exacerbate the situation.
Assaults of lesbians by female straights resulting from sexual advances are rare. Female straights view advances by lesbians as either amusing or flattering and serious conflict in this area is minimal. Gay-???straight male??? contact is something quite different.
Throughout the animal kingdom aggression and competition defines male sexual behavior. It is a deadly serious area of natural behavior. The sexual identity of heterosexual males is ultimately the most important aspect of their existence. Threatening or compromising this identity is the single cause of violence against lesbians and gays by male heterosexuals.
.
Nature dictates gays will remain a minority and educational programs should be structured thusly. The programs should not target heterosexuals but gay survival in the natural world. Had Brandon hit Larry a non fatal blow up beside the head with a club in response to his loathsome advances this case would have powerful educational value. It would serve exemplary to gay males the seriousness of approaching potential partners. Teen lesbians could benefit in learning the consequences of intruding on natural relationships without the physical trauma of experience; having their teeth knocked down their throats or their female bones snapped like twigs by enraging the awesome physical power of the human heterosexual male who, by natural design, will continue to dominate the species. It???s just common sense -

I have recently come across the article involving Larry King and Brandon McInerney. This whole situation is so devastating and awful but I hope this opens the minds of so meny people about the society we are creating for children. I feel that no one is more responsible in this case then the adults. They have failed both of these young men repeatedly. In my honest opinion the Assistant principal who used Larry King as an agenda should be stripped of her right to even teach. All of the parents are wrong. ALL OF THEM! What happened to Larry was awful and it never should have happened. However, when did it become okay to dress however we want in middle school? As a parent it is our job to protect our children. When they are allowed to wear stillettos and other clothes inappropriate for ANY 14 or 15 year old it is we are not allowing them to a childhood. As a 25 year old woman I barely wear those items and the thought that they are wearing these things to school is disturbing. That is not a sense of self expression. It's a cry for attention and help. I feel like all to often society is afraid to hurt someone's feelings and this in turn hurts more the it helps. Brandon told people how he was feeling but it does not excuse his actions. What could cause so much rage into someone. Again his parents and school officials failed him also. He's facing life in prison and I don't think he even comprehends what all that time means. So there's another life lost. I hear people say that he was a kid filled with hate and anger solely because Larry was gay. How would people feel if Brandon wore a KKK robe to school? They would be absolutely offended. There has to be some kind of rules and regulations. Something has to be done to protect everyone with no agenda. Our children deserve better.

Your article is very informative and what happens to these two guys is very bad. Parents want to send their children in right place but this is very important for such parents to have all effective information about that place before enrolling their kids.

im straight and proud of it....and that makes me a bad person doesnt it....why should gays get all the rights? It is wrong....and if you believe in God and the bible then you must not read the bible.....It is not right in the eyes of God.....do you not care about that? Do you not want to go to Heaven? You are not born that way....you want to be gay. ITs disgusting. Two men playing swords? Come on...are you serious? You cant have babies.....God didnt make Adam and Steve....it was Adam and Eve!

I was very saddened upon reading about the tragic murder of Larry King because he chose to express his self in a manner that is not accepted or well tolerated in America today.
I remember when I was 14 and first acknowledged my homosexuality in the 70's. While I was not as flamboyant in school as Larry was, I too expressed myself in the only way I knew how, to show the world that I was Gay and proud of it. If it had not been for the kindness and guidance of my High School Principal I too might have suffered the way Larry did.
It is shameful that our Society today still allows such hatred and intolerence to exist and by doing so becomes culpable in every act of violence and persecution meted out to those of us whom Society deems different and unacceptable. -

I just readthis story, and I am appalled at some of the questions NOT asked......like where the hell did Brandon McInerney get a handgun? Maybe his father should be brought in for a little of the blame here, gun owners are expected to secure their weapons, so they cannot be taken without their knowledge and/or permission. And Larry's parents blaming the school for letting him wear makeup, etc.? Are you going to try and tell me that they didn't let him walk out of their house with that crap on? What happened was tragic, and will affect the players forever, but let's stop trying to blame the schools for not being able to control their students in the classrooms when the parents are not doing THEIR job of controlling, mentoring and modeling adult and acceptable behavior in the home.

Today is Friday, last night my Newsweek was in my mailbox. I knew it was this weeks' copy because I've seen it at the stores for the last 4 days. What's up?

Mr Kirk Douglas, who is obviously qualified to give medical advice, attests that "[d]epression is caused by thinking too much about yourself. Try to think of others, try to help them. You will be amazed how that lessens your depression." Thank you, Mr Douglas. As someone currently being medicated for clinical depression, I wish I had received your news sooner. All this time psychiatrists have been telling me that this so-called mental "illness" is a chemical imbalance in the brain that is as much a medical problem as malaria. Thanks to this medical breakthrough, that depression is simply a result of selfishness, we can stop treating the millions of Americans "suffering" from this "condition." Perhaps we can extrapolate Mr Douglas's brilliant solution to other medical problems. Broken leg? Appendicitis? They're just failures to put others before yourself. No need for casts or surgeries--just send the sinful patient home to write self-righteous articles that enumerate at length his life's accomplishments and condemn self-absorption.

I was reading yourJune 30, 2008 issue when I discovered asome glaring errors in one of the articles. The article by Dahlia Lithwick regarding the U.S. Supreme Court had some inaacurate informantion. The article calls the justices "judges" and states they are all white justices. I think Justice Thomas would be surprised about this assertion. She also states the issues beyond constitutional matters are limited for review by the Supreme Court, which is absolutely untrue. Many federal issues are addressed by the Surpreme Court other than consittuional matters. This inaccuracy seriously discredits the articles thesis as to the impact of the Court on our lives and the effects of this years Presidential election. I would think better checking of this information would occur in a magazine of your caliber, and hope to see no more such errors. However, I did agree with the overall message of the article.
Thanks from a subscriber.

I agree with kmdegs (see below) that this unfortunate child was crying out for attention, if in a very provocative manner that really should have no place in any school. It should have been addressed the first time he showed up at school looking provocative. School is not all about self-expression, and children who present themselves as very different from the rest will tend to have problems with their peers. It is a very well know fact that teenagers are the ultimate conformists. Another well known psychological fact is that a large percentage of young teens have confusion about their sexuality that usually resolves as they reach the end of high school. Thus it is a serious error in any case for schools to encourage or expect younger teens to adopt a 'sexual identity', and most especially one that puts them a such odds with their classmates. It is the current social turmoil over sexuality and gender that I fault for this ghastly tragedy, for both kids. The best way to encourage respect for everyone is NOT, in my view, to insist that everyone must be on the same page with politically correct views. That just leads to bullying of the kids who do not adopt such views. Rather, kids should be taught general respect for each other as human beings and political views should be left out of the picture, except to answer politically motivated questions by helping kids discern the difference between respecting the individual or marching in lockstep with certain political views.

Okay, wait a second. Teenagers are the ultimate conformists? What the hell kind of a teenager were you? To mostly every teenager in the world, finding their own identity is one of the most important things ever. You are obviously someone who doesn't know much about the average teenager, because the majority of teenagers want to be different and want to be their own person. I suppose you also think that all teenagers are thieves, gang members, and can't handle any responsibility? And the fact that you're saying "School is not all about self-expression" seems to suggest that you are only supporting the idea that teenagers should be conformists, and should try to be like everyone else. If that's what you want teenagers to be like, that's sad and pathetic, because they're going to have problems with their peers no matter what they're like, even if they are a conformist. Everyone should strive to be their own person. I sincerely hope that no teenager ever takes your advice, or the advice of anyone who suggests that being like everyone else is a good idea.
