Alter is a total sell out and is in thrall to the Libs new darling -- Keith Olbermann. Neither Alter nor Olbermann have any credibility. That he is finding objectionable what McCain is up to right now is the best argument for continuing.

This is Johnathan's lead in to more appearances on the liberal fascist show starring Kieth Oben_Fuhrer. The show where all quest must agree with Kieth and his hate filled message....notice how many of them come from Obamaweek...I mean News that is weak.

McCain is contaminated by being a Republican after years of economic destruction and political corruption. It's a shame that McCain is caving in to the liars and bullies of Rove, Inc. but voters should see this as demonstrating very shallow convictions on McCain's part. This campaign also shows him to be unreliable, temperamental, and easily misled. His staff is always in upheaval and fighting among themselves. The country is at a critical point on so many issues, we can't afford to let McCain and Rove do any more damage and waste another decade.

The media must take responsibility for the low level "discourse" of this campaign. I view the McCain campaign ads as a spoof on the idol worship and media bias of Senator Obama whom they are so in awe of that they have lost all objectivity. He will make a decent president but he is not omnipotent, all knowing, and perfect. He is in for a rough time in that White House and I rue the day when they all turn on him because of judgements he must make. Some of us still trying to decide not whether to vote Republican but to vote at all for the first time in our lives have seen the hype and the bias and, frankly, no candidate could run an objective, thoughtful, "fair" campaign against the goal of the MSM who is, in effect, the PR agency of the Democratic Party and Senator Obama. In their excitement and zeal of helping to "make history", they have tossed all standards and objectivity out the window. McCain is the worst campaigner I have ever witnessed. He has one theme, The Surge, a health non-plan. I will never forget his hugging W around the knees with a childish expression on his face. He has little to offer. Even if he had something to offer, he and anyone else, would not stand a chance against the infatuation of the multitudes and the MSM, so, he has resorted to a big issue in this campaign, which is the celebrity idol worship of a candidate who has his own presidential nominee seal, plans to spend monies and electrical energies and other resources to rent a second facility accomodating the masses for his acceptance speech, and who has misused the "racist" charge to the extent that it is now minimized for the ordinary bloke who may need to use it. All that is left is to attack the issue of celebrity. In that respect, some of us are glad someone has done that because some of us are insulted with the manner in which this campaign has been covered by the MSM. These ads will change nothing; Republicans for McCain will vote for him; some Dems will, too. Obama supporters will still vote for him. Those of us undecided are still undecided because we cannot believe the hype, are tired of it, and long for something more substantial and await the VP selection to make our final decision, and, no, it does not HAVE to be Hillary, but, it cannot be another "unknown". In some ways, the DNC and the MSM have done a disservice to their candidate. If he is so great, he would have "made it" without all the extraordinary enabling.

The media liked McCain when he was opposing conservatives and moving to the left, now that he's not moving left, where the media and NEWSWEEK is FIRMLY planted, they don't like him. It's liberal bias and maybe YOU people ought to look at yourself instead of demanding candidates conform to your liberalism. The arrogance and aloofness of you liberals in the press never ceases to amaze me, nor does your dishonesty in failing to admit it.

This kind of petty and vindictive behavior is what John McCain is about and has been about. It's too bad the fools in the press are just now beginning to catch on.

Dukakis was a coddler of criminals long before George H. W. Bush pointed it out during the '88 campaign. If letting a convicted 1st Degree Murder with a Life Sentence and absolutely nothing to lose out on the streets to menace law abiding citizens doesn't make you a criminal coddler, than I honestly don't know what does.

In terms of the crime issue, Bush didn't "make" Dukakis into anything he wasn't already.

I know you're a Democrat, Alter, but the '88 election is over anyway and when you lie about the past like that it just needlessly undermines your credibility vis a vis the present.

McCAIN has received $1.2 MILLION DOLLARS from OIL Lobbyists. So where before McCain opposed Off Shore drilling, after receiving this money from the lobbyists, he is now changed his mind and supports offshore drilling - McCain's soul has been BOUGHT.

    • Posted By: Wrendell @ 08/03/2008 3:19:32 AM

This is what McCain means when he says that Obama is too "inexperienced". Obama hasn't been around Washington long enough to have completely bought off like everyone else. This is a fearsome thing to McCain and many people in Congress.

      • Posted By: Karpy @ 08/03/2008 6:26:10 AM

It is against the law for a candidate to accept money directly from "Oil Lobbyists". Obama has bragged several times that he refused to take money from "Big Oil", even as he know that no other politician has either. Its a crime and he is lying. Now, Oil employees are allowed to donate at will, and like all American corporations, they mostly donate across the board to avoid making anyone mad. American Oil is NOT the cause of the current gas prices. It is Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Obama and the whacked out "environmentalist" gangs that have put us in this predicament and nothing else. We have more oil in America then the entire Middle East, but they refuse to allow us to get it. They will never have to pump or pay for a gallon of fuel, and they would rather have you off the roads and " Save the planet" for themselves anyway. Exxon/Mobile is America's largest Oil Company, owned nearly 70% by retirees pension funds and stockholders. It is not even in the top 10% of the worlds oil corporations, coming in at #14.. They control less then 5% of the worlds available oil. The "profits" Pelsoi and Obama want to steal from them are not profits at all. They paid 32.3 Billion in taxes this quarter, and posted an 11 Billion dollar return on an investment of 100 billion in R and D, exploration, maintenance and refinery. To demonize them is ignorrant, and to confiscate their profits is unAmerican and criminal. Take the red tape off of them and let them drill in America. We are making nations like Dubai superpowers, and turning ours into a third world nation with this nonsense.

I thought this propagandist shilled exclusively for MSNBC. I didn't know he wrote.

    • Posted By: Karpy @ 08/03/2008 6:02:52 AM

The main stream media propagandists all belong to a self worshiping "Love In" club that allows them to bounce from the MSNBC to CBS, ABC, NYT, NEWSWEAK, TIME et al. They are an elite club in their minds, consisting of girly men, manly girls, whiners, haters, and judgmental Stalinists. This crowd wont be happy until America is a vast, hungry, third world socialist nation of helpless losers.

Republican reporter can't help resort to this comments on John McCain ...I'M TOTALLY AGREED WITH HIS OWN MOTHER to said publicly that indeed that JOHN McCain is plain Stupid.

"For a man who will turn 72 this month, he's a surprisingly immature politician, erratic, impulsive and subject to peer pressure from the last knucklehead who offers him advice. The youthful insouciance that for many years has helped McCain charm reporters like me is now channeled into an ad that one GOP strategist labeled "juvenile," another termed "childish" and McCain's own mother called "stupid."

  • Posted By: cferns1530 @ 08/03/2008 4:14:44 AM

McCain is a joke. Whines, panders and then says he's the people's president. The guy mixed up Shia's and Sunni's, then thought Pakistan and Iraq share a border(sigh!) and has the nerve to complain about Obama's visit when he had an early result to proceed with his affairs. And after all this, his campaign could come up with ads comparing Obama to Britney or stressing on his middle name. If the undecided voter can't see through this and still prefers the politics of FEAR may he not complain when the Bush buddies get their result.

  • Posted By: Wrendell @ 08/03/2008 3:55:57 AM

I can't wait for the debates when McCain has to "think" on his feet. Look out for the fake hearing aid that will be a mini receiver so he can hear the correct answers from his handlers.

  • Posted By: Unbiased In SC @ 08/02/2008 11:47:00 PM

Some of you have missed the satire in the Britney, Paris, Barack ad. The point is focused on the main stream media and their obsession with making Barack a "first name only" celebrity. A person famous whether they have any real substance or not. Unfortunately, many voters today forego actual news and real political discussion because their intellect, knowledge and attention span are tuned to the level of People magazine and Entertainment Weekly television. And now ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN are lowering their standards to that level so they can keep selling their product to the masses. Any person viewing the advertisement as a racial issue should recognize their own bigotry on the matter of race in America today. Witness our current and previous Secretaries of State appointed by President Bush. Condoleeza Rice and Colin Powell are America's first black persons to hold that important position. They have the same political experience as former Secretaries of State such as Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Martin Van Buren, and James Buchanan. Those men went on to be elected President of the United States. At least another dozen Secretaries of State ran unsuccessfully for the position of President. Rice and Powell have the knowledge and experience to become a good President. Even Barack now has the ability as a black man to become President whether he has the needed knowledge and experience or not. Race is not the issue. Get over your personal bias as it has affected your impartial judgement.

    • Posted By: Iofiel @ 08/03/2008 12:54:00 AM

Well, no. The REAL point is to get McCain elected no matter how ridiculous his claims and complaints need to be to get him there. McCain isn't producing witty satire here -- he's just whining about Obama and trying to make people say "Gee, the media is just SO unfair!"

      • Posted By: Wrendell @ 08/03/2008 3:53:04 AM

I agree. I also would ask, where-exactly- does one go to learn to run an enormous superpower with such vast resources that numbers become meaningless? Is there any job as complex as the Presidency? If you choke on a pretzel the financial markets dance a jig. Heaven forbid you should catch a cold!

  • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 08/02/2008 10:46:07 PM

McCain't is running a racist campaign.

    • Posted By: Wrendell @ 08/03/2008 3:42:01 AM

Correct. They are running a smear campaign and a fear campaign. They can use may things like Obama's name, his lineage, his popularity and his race to promote fear and to smear him. It's not racism, it's not even personal. It's just dirty, low road politics as usual.

  • Posted By: SacredFreud @ 08/02/2008 9:55:34 PM

McCain gives new meaning to "zero moral compass". The senator was tortured, stood out against torture and then turned tail and voted against the bill on torture. The senator voted against the troops, vote after vote. LIberals aren't saying this, nonpartisan veterans groups are. The senator was against Bush's tax cuts until he started running for office and now he's for them. Should I go on?

    • Posted By: Wrendell @ 08/03/2008 3:36:10 AM

I must agree. I do not understand how McCain- of all people- could not stand against us using torture. Has he forgotten his days in Hanoi?

Back when Clintons first took the White House, Hillary Clinton wanted to do something about Health Care, and the Republicans FREAKED OUT. The Republicans and the Health Care Lobbyists sent FEAR into the American People that doing something about it was SOCIALIST and would make things worse. They undermined the Clintons to do anything about it. Our healthcare system is BROKEN. So many are getting serious conditions, and Americans are unable to take care of themselves. It's so expensive to get a heart surgery, people are GOING TO INDIA - HOW MESSED UP is that??? You vote for McCain, and you can bet that Health Care will NOT BE RESOLVED. So the day the voter who voted for McCain finds out they have Cancer and can not afford to get the treatments is the day they will regret their vote.

    • Posted By: Wrendell @ 08/03/2008 3:30:11 AM

Healthcare will never be improved because all the Congressmen have the world's greatest healthcare plan. So, they do not feel the pain, nor do their families. They don't have to concern themselves with pre-existing conditions and other disqualifies-like age. Let's see McCain buy a personal healthcare plan under the same conditions as a self-employed person in his state. He would NEVER get coverage.

Thank you so much for this article. The Rove model of negative campaigning will not end until the press begins to see it and call it for what it is; character assasination of your opponent. It is time for the press to stop reporting the substance of negative campaigns and just note them for what they are; Today candidate A spoke on the economy and candidate B engaged in negative campainging. If the rude, inaccurate, juvenille and salicious comments did not even get repeated bt the press, eventually all candidates would be forced to stick to the issues to get any press coverage at all.

    • Posted By: Wrendell @ 08/03/2008 3:26:16 AM

Unfortunately, the media is a business. They need to show something on the TV, so they will show the negative ads. The media was given specific Constitutional protections from the Government so that they could effectively serve the people. But today, it is just a sham, like everything else. I can't tell the difference between Wolf Blitzer and Billy Mays. They are both loud, obnoxious pitchmen who love the sound of their own voices. The news 'anchors" look more like Vegas showgirls everyday and the men look like underwear models. But, these talking heads usually have nothing to say and they say it all day , everyday. It is disgusting at best.

  • Posted By: AmericanPatriot92 @ 08/02/2008 8:48:53 PM

Honestly the day that McCain gets elected President, I will weep for this country. I will lose total respect that instead of a country of voters who could have used their intelligence to select a President that is intelligent, speaks well, and can work diplomatically with the world for the interests of America, we will have selected a childish, bumbling, and irrational elitist who is running a "win at any cost" because he feels he is deserving of the Presidency. McCain has NO INTEGRITY and apparently NO SOUL if he is willing to work with the likes of Karl Rove's minions, the same idiots who tarred his character and honor back in 2000.

People are KIDDING themselves if they don't think that the Republican attack dogs aren't spreading false rumors about Obama and trying to scare Americans into not voting for Obama just because he has a funny sounding name. So for McCain and his camp to accuse Obama of playing the race card is downright laughable. Everything about America is going downhill (education, the dollar, our deficit, our reputation as a leader of Democracy), and we are so stupid and blind, we don't want to admit things are going wrong. Don't call me ANTI-PATRIOTIC just because I want to make our country better again, and become the most respected nation in the world. Why is it that when the IRA terrorists were blowing up buildings, we didn't automatically assume that all Irish people were terrorists??? We are just as racists as we were in the 1940s, when we put Japanese Americans into concentration camps, because we were afraid of the Japanese. If people vote against Obama because they think he's a Muslim, you are not only an uneducated MORON and a COWARD but a RACIST. People are letting FEAR control their thinking. FDR once said ???The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.??? So if McCain wins - I can only infer that America is DOOMED with SO MANY IDIOTS in a country.

    • Posted By: Wrendell @ 08/03/2008 3:15:56 AM

Obamas's opponents love to harp on his name. However, how many people ever get to choose their own name? Your parents' stick you with something (Dweezle and Moonunit Zappa, for example) and you are stuck with it. If Obama had changed his name-which is perfectly legal- his enemies would swear that he was trying to conceal something. Ask your own friends and you will find a surprising number of people who aren't exactly happy with their names, but what can you do?
